The breeze flowed through the night, chilling the otherwise warm atmosphere in the park as the onyx-haired Visored walked slowly through. Lights hung from carts and stands, people filling the park, moving about in a mixture of traditional kimonos and yukatas as well as those who simply came in their normal, more modern wear. Hidane himself was wearing a black yukata emblazoned with red, pink, and orange flowery designs towards the ends of the sleeves and from the bottom near his feet, with a white t-shirt underneath to help keep the cold out. A bit of a mix of the two prior styles, really. He watched the lights hanging from the attractions, a flurry of all colors mixing and glowing into the night sky; men and women of all ages… adults, students, children… wandered the grounds of the festival. It was being put on by the local high school, but it was open to the public as a sort of fund raiser.
No matter the reason for it, it was still a pretty sight, and Hidane always found it interesting to come to any festivals or events in town. He found himself wandering to the edge of the festival, a wide open space reaching to the far end of town; fireflies flew about the empty spaces as people were out there setting up to release sky lanterns later in the night. He wandered back into the festival grounds, just taking in the sights and sounds; the night air was cold, but the atmosphere seemed to warm it. It was comforting, being around so many people, so clueless about the way of the world, simply enjoying their simple lives free of the danger of Hollows and everything that comes with them.
He hoped this peace would last. Lately he’d been finding that his life had returned to its old way, of odd or dangerous things happening every time he chose to go out. But it was for exactly that reason that he went out, too; to catch these things happening and do what he can to minimize or eliminate the damage.
Hopefully there would be no damage to mitigate tonight.
He took a deep breath and let out a long sigh, gazing up into the dark night sky.

So many people, such a crowd. But, they were happy. All out to have fun and socialize. It were these emotions of joy, the cheerful chatter and the massive influx of people here that drew the mod soul into the streets of the night time festival here. Single men out to mingle, which she had noticed before. Parents out with overjoyed children that coursed down the streets in whatever variant of tag they played. She didn't need her eyes to see the beauty of the human world. And even she still felt conflicted about her own creator, she found herself enjoying the chatter.
The blindfolded mod soul made her way down one of the less busy, but still bustling street, with a soft smile on her face. Some people thought her clothing was odd, maybe even provocative, which by all means it was. But it didn't matter. After all, one of the things she wasn't given with was sexuality. While she did have modesty, a lack of actual gender made her able to cope with it. A soft crying however pulled her attention. One of the children got a scraped elbow while they were playing. She shook her head with a soft chuckle and made her way over, kneeling down softly. "May I see it?" She asked in fluent japanese. With a soft and soothing voice. Causing the girl in question to halt her tears and immediately calm down at the warmth she radiated. Offering up her elbow for inspectation.
Maybe it was the light of the lanterns, or maybe it was an optical illusion, but it seemed like a small, golden light flickered around her as she leaned forward to press a soft kiss on said elbow. Kissing the pain away while healing it with one of her abilities. And like that, the scrape was gone. And Mathilde lifted the child back on her feet with a soft smile. "Be safe now," she stated with the same warm smile. "Hai, cosplay-onee-san!" The girl beamed before going to chase down after her friends again, causing the mod soul to shake her head with a soft chuckle. Children, they were too damn pure for this rotten world.

By some sort of freak coincidence, or perhaps one could call it luck in his case, Hidane had been wandering through just the right part of the festival to catch sight of quite an interesting scene.
A small child had gotten a scrape while playing with other children. He’d expected the child to run off to her parents… but instead, another approached her. A young woman, it seemed, with a rather peculiar get-up for this kind of event. ‘Modest’ was certainly something that wouldn’t describe the black dress the woman wore, and the blindfold confused him more than anything. Despite being blind, she seemed to be able to maneuver the world around her with ease, without any canes or anything of the sort. His suspicions, however, were laid to rest when she knelt down in front of the child and a soft glow emanated from her as the child’s scrape disappeared.
Well, this was certainly something he couldn’t just ignore now.
He sat back, leaning against a stand where the person tending it had wandered off to take a break for a moment, and waited for the children to wander off to another part of the festival. It only took a few moments.
“Well, that’s an interesting trick you’ve got there. Could draw some unwanted attention, if you’re not careful.” The Visored spoke casually as he approached. He offered a gentle, playful smile, though he wasn’t sure she had a way of seeing it; his tone should be representative enough, though. “Don’t worry though, I won’t tell.”

She glanced up at the man that approached her, propping himself against the stall, offering her a kind smile. So she repayed the favour and answered with a soft, warm smile of her own. Despite his words. And she got a sensation from the man, a soft shiver that traveled down her spine. His reiatsu, mayhaps? It was obvious he wasn't normal like the other people around here. But that didn't mean he was a threat. Else he wouldn't just identify himself. She shook her head with a soft giggle. "Unwanted?" She stood up slowly. Mayhaps it was naive from her saying this. But it was something she believed. "I don't see how I could get unwanted attention. All I wish for is everyone's well being."
She sucked in a soft breath, her augmentation slowly slipping into it's sealed state again. She glanced at the leather glove momentarily, before shaking her head and giving Hidane a slow, courteous bow. Revealing just how modest her getup truly was. "I am Mathilde. Designation, SaHU Prime," she offered her name, before standing up straight again. "Whomst do I have the pleasure of meeting with?" She inquired, her head tilting curiously to one side. It seemed to be a friendly and careless interaction. Maybe someone she could enjoy the festival with?
“Unwanted? I don’t see how I could get unwanted attention. All I wish for is everyone’s well being.”
A curiously innocent response for someone wearing such a modest outfit… and showing it off so well. But then again, he’d just witnessed her using her powers to heal a small child that got a scrape while playing around at a human festival. Well, there was certainly more to her than there appeared to be. She introduced herself rather… curiously, mechanically but with a human touch to it, such that she had probably been involved in some kind of organization… who or what it was though, was a mystery, and with her Reiatsu hidden so well he couldn’t get an inkling of what exactly she was.
“If only everyone thought the same,” Hidane responded to her first statement with a soft smile, as he was relieved at least that they had the well-being of others as a focus in common. “Hidane Asuka Koga, designation… Visored? A pleasure meeting you.” He offered a similar shallow bow, though didn’t have anything to show off with it, naturally. He took a step closer, pushing off of the stand he’d been leaning on but still keeping a decent personal distance between them.
“Well, it was starting to get a little dull and lonely wandering this place by myself. Any chance you would be interested in some company to take in the sights?”

"Everything would be so much easier," Mathilde fell in easily, letting out yet another soft giggle, it was quite the pleasing sound. It was almost musical. "Visored?" She inquired with a soft frown, unsure what he meant. "What's.. that?" She asked with her head tilting curiously to one side. Soft platinum hair swaying with, a soft sheen visible on them due to the light bulb that lit up the stand that Hidane was just leaning against. But she shook her head regardless of his answer. "It is always good to meet someone amicable," she admitted, slowly going to fold her hands behind her back.
He invited her along for some sightseeing and with a soft smile, she accepted, offering up her gloved arm for him. A gesture she had seen before, a friendly one at that. "Of course," she answered with a gentle nod, sticking close to his side, going to follow his lead. "So, what brings you here, Koga-sama?" She asked with a soft frown. "Do you come to these festivities often? Is it usual for.. Visored to come to these festivals?" She asked. Another thought occurred. "Are these festivals hosted often, then?" Then she frowned again. "Am.. I asking too many questions?"
“A Visored is… how to explain it?” He paused for a moment, thinking. “Directly, I guess. My kind is half Shinigami, half Hollow. Which, yes, sounds awful, but it isn’t really that bad, in most cases.” Should she still have her arm extended for him, he would take it in a calm, polite gesture, gentle and not in the least suggesting that he would hold it against her will. She was free to draw back if the idea displeased her. “There are those of us that are better at controlling the darker nature we’ve inherited than others, just like anyone else.” He began leading her gently along through the festival, a homely celebration of… honestly, he hadn’t gotten around to picking up on what yet, but it was a nice place nonetheless. Busy, but not overall too crowded, and an enjoyable, warm atmosphere. Certainly different than what he presumed to find in what would soon be called his new home. “I couldn’t agree more. We live in a world with far too many violent minds; it is nice to find someone else who doesn’t think like that, for a change.”
They would wander around, weaving through moving groups of people and children running about playing, past stands offering foods of a great variety and festival games and craft stations where people were beginning to put together the sky lanterns that would float into the dark night sky later. In the distance, surely, there was a fireworks display being set up. It would be a great night… and a great send-off.
“I like to come to these kinds of festivals when they come about,” he replied softly to her questions, but loud enough still to be heard over the commotion about them, “they don’t put them on all too often, but it’s always a nice atmosphere.” He stopped talking for a moment, taking in the warm glow of the lanterns all about. “I’m going to be moving to city nearby soon, and I may not be able to make it out to smaller, cozier festivals like these as often. So I figured I’d come tonight and… well, it turns out to have been a good choice.” He offered another friendly smile in her direction, still unsure whether she could even see it through her blindfold.
“As for your questions, don’t feel afraid to ask as many as you like. If there’s something I don’t mind, it’s talking to people, after all.” He’d spent far too long in his life doing far worse. “What brings you to this place, Mathilde?”

She nodded slowly as he answered with a rather... Odd explanation. She hadn't really heard of those Visored. At all. Though when she was created, it was still all hush hush and red tape covering it all. And since she was now a hunted enemy, well, she didn't really stay in touch with soul society, even if she wanted to. While she still didn't understand why they tried to hunt her down to this day, she knew they did. And even the ones she healed tried to take her away when they were healed. It was a sad sight, but regardless. Up until now, she managed to get away from them before they damaged her body.
"That it is," came her retort regarding the atmosphere, it was indeed nice. Warm and comforting even. She answered the friendly smile with one of her own, or was she smiling at his compliment? She seemed to have the mannerisms commonly associated with sight. Looking into one's eyes when speaking or spoken to, for example. "I.. Just came across here. A lot of people were drawn to this place all of a sudden," she answered with the same soft smile. And whimsical as she could afford to be, the best idea she had was to check it out. And statisfy her curiousity. "I assume this is a celebration? To commemorate.. Something?"
“I’m not sure, actually.” Hidane said, chuckling softly at the thought. He always managed to find these festivals, but not once had he ever figured out what any of them were about. Probably some local holiday, as none of them ever seemed to coincide with any holiday he knew of, or just something put on by a local school to promote well-being or some upcoming event, but he was never quite sure. “These things just happen every once in a while, and I somehow end up at them; I’ve never really bothered to look into what they’re about. I just get lost in the atmosphere, y’know?” He had ignored it before, but the fact that he had no idea what she was… or who she was, really… was beginning to put him in a state of slight unease. She seemed harmless and friendly enough, but just the mystery of it was something that he wasn’t quite comfortable with.
Of course, he didn’t let such slip through to his tone or expression, lest he give away that it made him nervous. Obviously she wasn’t a normal human, or she wouldn’t be bothering to hide her Reiatsu constantly like this. But what was she, then? Not a Shinigami in Gigai, they wouldn’t bother either. So she was something else… was she another Bount? Or perhaps something else?
A question for later, as directly asking people ‘what they were’ hadn’t been getting high approval ratings from his new friends and acquaintances lately.
“Tonight, though, I’m pretty sure it’s just a carnival put on by the local school, since the weather’s finally getting nice and warm out.” He hadn’t noticed before, but the sky was almost completely clear of clouds, and in the darkness of night, even against the lights from the festival, somehow a wide array of stars shone through the veil of darkness above. The moon stood high above, a perfect orb radiating a soft glow down on the world below. He would miss living in this area… but it was too dangerous for his work now. Karakura itself was too spiritually active, which meant more Shinigami, which meant it being more likely that him and his comrades being discovered.
“This might be an odd question to ask, but, uhm…” He hesitated for a moment… “Can you, uhm… see?”
Wasn't really sure how to round this one out, so... yeah, that happened. xD

She nodded in acknowledgement. So this... Visored also had no idea why the humans were celebrating. "Well," she pursed her cherry lips in thought. "It seems rude for us to be unknowing to the occasion," Mathilde mused with a soft hum, before shaking her head. "Though I'm sure anyone would forgive us for getting lost in the atmosphere, as you call it," she added with a soft giggle. She was learning, even now. Social mannerisms, behaviour of spiritual and non spiritual beings. She was still a tad on the more social inept side, though she made enormous strides considering when she was first placed in this body, she had a rather hands on approach of examining the new body.
"So carefree, then?" She asked, glancing back at Hidane, leaning into his side. And suddenly, the blindfold to anyone seeing her now would make sense. She was a young, beautiful but blind woman being led around by what complete strangers could only estimate to be her husband. But it was Mathilde, subconsciously, enjoying the warmth of another being. Just like she did when she woke up. "See?" She frowned momentarily underneath the blindfold, but the, nodded slowly. "I can.. Percieve. It's technically not sight, but in short, yes I can see you. And I know what you look like," she took a deep breath. "But if I were to describe you, I'd be describing not facial appearance or colours, but a sensation. A touch, a feeling," she smirked softly. "I recieved this blindfold from my creator when I woke up. The sun hurt my eyes back then. I never took it off since." She shook her head, as soon as she spoke word creator, Hidane would feel the fingers that were wrapped around his wrist tightening. Even though she was still a tad socially inept, she still could mourn. And she mourned the loss of her creator. And she still blamed herself for harming him.
“Humans intrigue me so much, how they can live so carefree and peacefully, blissfully unaware that they’re caught in the shadow of such a violent world.” He continued walking at a slow but steady pace, leading Matheld along, despite now knowing that she could see, or see through sensing, to some extent. “It is enough for me to know that they have the peace of mind to come together in ways like this and create such festivities; I don’t need to know or care for the reason. If only everything else could be captured in such moments and occasions as this.” That was his dream, his goal; to create a world where there was no need for the constant bloodshed and wars. A monster though he may be, he was a monster that still retained most of his clear head from before turning… only now occasionally he resorted to less appealing methods of furthering his goals. “That is how I see it all, anyway. So, ‘carefree’, I suppose is a good way to put it.”
As they walked, Hidane listened to the Mod Soul’s short story about her blindfold and her creator.
“You should hold onto it then, if it’s important to you.” He responded calmly, feeling her fingers tightening. “For those of us who live as long of lives as we do, sometimes it is things like these that continue to give our lives meaning, when everything else fades away.”

She smiled softly to his remark. A tinge of sharp pain touching at her metaphorical heart. Envy? Envying the humans for their carefree and peaceful world. For their ignorance of the war that went on just around them. There were mysteries and harrowing tales, ofcourse. But not once did a normal human even begin to grasp what was around them. What they couldn't see, what they were forced to forget. Her fingers around his arm relaxed again. And Mathilde breathed out a soft huff. "It... I envy them," she admitted with a soft chuckle. She was given humanity, but not once told what to properly do with it. Help people, naturally. But was that her, once again metaphorical heart speaking. A desire to do such? Or was it programmed into her. That all life should be sustained and preserved.
She glanced up at Hidane as he spoke again, pondering his words just for a moment. "It's.. So difficult," she answered, at last. "Humanity," Math let a soft breath escape from her nostrils. "Us as a whole," her lips twitched in a soft scowl. "We won't settle our differences. No one shall. Because everyone is different." Platinum hair swayed softly, giving off a soft orange sheen in the various lit candles. "And those differences are to the powerful untolerable." For some god forsaken reason.
She blinked momentarily, a mental pang, before she glanced around. Hidane would feel it as well. An unwanted visitor from beyond. By no means powerful, but the amount of damage it could cause here. "Visored-san," she stated. "I.. Assume that presence is not unknown to you?"
