The trees around her fluttered slightly in the wind. The little pink buds on the cherry trees waved around in the sunshine, not quite ready to bloom fully but open enough to create a beautiful setting. Loska hummed to herself as she strolled down her path, her arms swinging jubilantly by her side. Her hair whipped around her as a sudden strong wind came upon her, making her yelp slightly as she grabbed the edges of her skirt, trying her best to keep it down. As it settled down she quickly looked around to see if anyone had been around to potentially see that. Luckily for her the park seemed to rather empty on this early spring day. The chill in the air seemed to have a negative effect on the park's head count, but Loska loved it. The chill in the air reminded her of home, and invigerated her spirit. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, standing for a moment to enjoy the smell of nature.
Birds chirped and flitted in the trees around her, seeming to concentrate around her as she strolled over to one of the benches. She plopped down with a heavy sigh, resting her bow against the bench as she leaned her head back. A couple finches landed on the bench next to her, tweeting curiously as they hopped a bit closer. She peeked her eyes open slightly, glancing at them sideways as she remained still. One of the birds hopped up on her knee, tilting its head as it looked up at her. She smiled and giggled, opening her eyes as she raised her finger slightly. The bird startled a bit, hopping to turn and inspect the finger it was now presented with. After a moment it settled down again, fluffing its feathers up and closing its eyes in a content fashion. She lightly scratched at the scruff of its neck. The other birds chirped and tweeted happily as they fluttered around her. It was a peaceful moment in time, one that she relished after a busy day at school.
With the infinite pleasures that the Soul Society has to offer, sometimes a shinigami needs to escape and have a day off. At least that was what Kiyu had thought, slaving over paperwork day in and day out, taking on more responsibilities within the Kidoshu since his knowledge in the art began to expand once again. He obtained permission from his commander to take a take a day off, obtaining a gigai to visit the human realm. The blonde shinigami emerged from the gate, dressed already in his gigai upon exiting. It was a pleasantly brilliant day, with a straw fedora hat on,1 black fabric strip around the bowel, a white shirt with the words "Cool Dude" printed on the front in black, he walked off with hands in the pocket of his jeans.
The vibrant noise of the town of Karakura filled the breezy air, it was a nice distraction from the norm, the pencil scratching across coarse parchment that refused to relent with its endless torture, which was much desired. The cool air in that hot day provided comfort and the shade from his hat also complemented that feeling, at least until the wind picked up and gusted it off his head. Like a hunter after big game, Kiyu gave chase to the magically flying fedora. It weaved through crowds and over passing cars, the same ones that he had to dodge in order not to lose sight. As it twirled and danced in the air it soared high and over the park finally began to descend.
Kiyu ran into the park, losing sight of it over the trees, he had hoped that it didn't land on top of one which would make retrieving the item a lot more difficult. In either case, he slowed his pace, and proceeded, hoping to find his hat. Instead, he found a young woman, sitting at a park bench, playing with some of the local birds. Little did he know that fate would have them meet as his hat slowly would descend open her and would fit to rest perfectly on her. Now, he didn't want to startle her, nor did he want to interrupt her from her enjoyment as she seemed to be in content state playing with the feathered animals, however, he really liked that hat, it was a gift and somebody would definitely be mad if he were to lose it.
He peered from around a post lamp, waving slightly before pointing to the top of her head.
I think my hat likes you as it fell from the heavens, figuratively speaking, he said in a calm voice as to not to disturb her or the birds among her presence. He smiled, and remained at a distance as to appear non-threatening. Nobody else was around so this type of encounter could be rather suspicious in some people's eyes, and definitely to a lone girl in the park. Kiyu wasn't that type at all, rather, he would await to see if he would be invited to even approach before taking any further steps.
The park was quite deserted but Loska didn't seem to notice or really mind. She had spent her life constantly surrounded by people, but at the same times they had often camped out in the middle of no where. How many times had she wandered off by herself (despite the constant warnings and chastisings of her fellow troupe members) into the forest? How many times had she wandered so far, chasing after this animal or that, that she would get lost and have to spend a couple days in the woods by herself? More times than she could count on her hands and feet. They always found her surrounded by a gaggle of her new woodland friends, as if they had all been drawn to her through some magical force. Loska herself had never questioned the bizarre magnetism she seemed to have when it came to animals. To her they were just her friends. She had never met an animals that didn't become putty in her hands, no matter how fierce they seemed. In all honesty she had quite enjoyed those outings and being alone. Then again she knew more than anyone that we are never really alone...
A sudden gush of wind caused her to look up, startled as a hat landed square on her head. Her sudden surprise caused the birds to startle, sending them scattering off in a flurry of chirps and fluttering wings. Loska blinked a few times before she fell into a fit of giggles, covering her smile with one hand while her other arm crossed over her stomach. What a strange thing to have happened! She looked around as she tried to locate the hat's owner, her eyes still shining with amusement. She locked onto the figure poking his head out from behind a lamppost. Something about the site of a grown man trying to hide behind such a small bit of cover amused her even more, her innocent laughter gracing the air once again. She grinned at him as she hopped up from the bench, grabbing her bow from its spot next to the bench all in one fluid movement. Her hand rested on the hat, holding it to her head as she walked over to him so that it would not blow away again if the wind decided to pick up once again.
"Haha, it seems so!" She stopped on the other side of the post and tilted to the side to look around it as he was doing, "Though if the hat fell from heaven and you are its owner, did you also come from there?"
Some might think of it as a bad pick up line, but Loska wasn't really intending it to be romantic. Simply that the man in front of her looked very angelic compared to what she'd been used to the last couple of days in Japan, with his pretty blond hair and blue eyes. The irony of the statement was lost on her, as she had no idea she was actually speaking to a shinigami, having very limited awareness of the spirits and no knowledge of the spiritual world or the powers that be.
"Here Angel-sama, I would feel very bad if I kept this from you." She lifted the hat from her head and held it out to him, smiling all the while.
She reacted quickly to his presence, as he stepped out from the lamp post she began to respond to him as well. The statement about also being an angel actually tickled him. He immediately noticed her silver hair as probably one of her more noticeable features; while she also had the appearance of a girl in her mid teen years. Kiyu stepped forward, blonde locks began to fall into place, since his hat was keeping it back a bit.
Well, if I am an Angel, then I'm just waiting to hear my bell to ring so I could get my wings.
He smiled while taking back his hat, putting it back on with a flourish, flipping his hat with a flick of his wrist before it was placed back atop of his head. His tongue stuck out for a moment, adjusting his locks while trying to make the accessory fit. Kiyu was always in a good mood these days, it was hardly ever a time where he wasn't. With new resolves and a positive outlook in life, he truly was in brightest of spirits. On top of the comment he had received, he didn't assume that she knew that he was a shinigami in disguise, even the number of spiritually aware individuals have increased, it wasn't always the case of which every person he met was aware of the spirit world. He placed his left hand into his pocket while giving a thumbs up with the other.
The name's Kiyu, no need to keep calling me an Angel unless you truly believe that I fell from the heavens.
He chuckled, excited to meet a new person in this world.
The breeze picked up again, the nice cool air waved around him, dancing and at the same time providing much needed comfort from the heat. It wasn't particularly hot, but the coolness offered some relief from the warmth. He looked back at her with his azure eyes, hers was as brilliant as his own, the white hues like silver cloud linings only reminded him of friends of old. He wondered what she was doing all by herself, other than enjoying the natural environment.
How often do you find yourself playing with the birds all alone in the park? He asked in a more concerned manner. He didn't want to impose anything on to her, but still, it was said that girls shouldn't walk around by themselves especially in out of the way areas and where nobody else could be found. Luckily, Kiyu found her before anybody else.
Loska's eyes quickly swept his frame as the man stepped out from behind the light post. Tall, blonde, handsome, well put together. In all honesty if she ever cared to imagine what an angel might actually look like he would certainly fit the bill. He had a gentleness about him that put her at ease, though she was a naturally trusting individual. When tigers curled up next to you and simply fell asleep ones sense of danger was easily skewed. It was something that had caused her ring master a fair bit of concern, but she never heeded her warnings. Thus far she had yet to meet anyone who was truly malicious. She'd met a lot of misunderstood and thus mistreated people though. People who were ostracized from society because they were different, they looked weird, or were simply... off. While usually standoffish or even rude to begin with, Loska found that unbiased kindness always managed to break through in the end. It had never failed her so far, so she went into every situation expecting to come out on top, with a new friend even.
She chuckled at his words, quickly patting her pockets and bags in search of any bells she might be able to ring for him. "Damn, I left my bells in my other bag! Sorry Angel-sama." She grinned at him a bit sheepishly. His trick with the hat caused the sheepishness to fall away, leaving a simply delighted smile in its place. She enjoyed people who knew how to use their hands for flashy little tricks. It was a simple happiness, but she liked to be amused. "Of course, that would be silly." She said in reply to his introduction, "Though wouldn't that be fantastic? To meet a real life angel, it would really be something." She paused for a moment, considering what it would be like it he really was an angel and had come down from heaven. How interesting it would be to learn of the things he knew, to hear of his tails from beyond the grave. She didn't really want the answer to all of life's mysteries, but she loved the prospect of seeing the world through someone else's eyes, especially when they were eyes with a particularly unique viewpoint. "Er... Not that meeting human you isn't just as exciting!" Realization dawned on her rather suddenly and she tried to backtrack quickly, hoping to not insult her new acquaintance by calling him boring or expressing extremely high expectations from him.
For two people who had never met and had absolutely no knowledge of each other beyond what they could see at face value, their initial queries to each other were surprisingly on point. While both perhaps naive of the truth behind their statements, it was... amusing. Loska's eyes widened a bit with surprise as he asked her about her time spent with woodland creatures, something she was never really aware of until someone else pointed it out to her. She began laughing as she knew her answer would be a bit too farfetched to be easily believed, regardless of the truth it held. "You would be surprised... Birds, deer, stray dogs... Even a bear or two on a few occasions. Dan said the day he wouldn't stumble upon me at some point playing with an animal I shouldn't be would be the day that hell froze over." She chuckled warmly, the image of her ringmaster appearing clearly in her mind. He would always lecture her about how important it was to respect wildlife and to not put herself in danger, often times while hiding behind something for fear that her animal companions would turn on him. Of course she had never had any ill will towards him and thus the animals had paid him no mind, but she had never quite put the two together. "Ah, Dan is the name of my Ringmaster... I, uh, came from a circus." She gave him an apologetic smile, as if asking him to excuse how weird that sounded. She hoped he would believe her, and that he wouldn't consider it too weird and leave. She'd gotten quite a few strange looks from the people she'd told so far, and many of her classmates had ended up avoiding her. Still she wasn't one to lie or try to avoid who she was or where she came from. Full disclosure was important to her.
