Karakura was silent and dreary, a light patter of rain and fog clouding the streets. Alex crept through a dark and twisty alley, on the hunt for his favorite prey. He fit in well in the dark nooks and crannies, fully kitted out in black form fitting clothes, leather bomber jacket and his hunters goggles. To most the faint light of the moon wouldn't be enough to see by on this umbral night, but Alex saw things in the clear greens and greys of night vision.
Hunkering up against a brick wall he paused for a moment. Trying his best to concentrate he pulls the night vision goggles up on his head and searches for the familiar aura of the beast of the night. Focusing for several moments he senses nothing and moves on, sliding the goggles back down onto his face. It had been a few weeks since he had hunted last, and it concerned him that so many people were in danger.
“I'll spend the rest of the night hunting if I must.” Stopping for a moment on the edge of a well light street he switched off his goggles. Taking a moment to rest he pulled a crumpled cigarette pack from his pocket and had a quick smoke, watching what few passers-by made their way down the dimly lit street by the haven of street lamps.

As the last tendrils of smoke dissipated in the damp air Alex turned his back to the Street Lamp and crept along the edge of the street. Staying close to the small dividing wall ,that separated the blacktop and concrete from yards and homes, he resumed his hunt. He could feel a shift in the atmosphere, from the normal chill of a foggy evening to a more soul sacking cold that delved deep into ones bones.
It didn't take him long to find the source of the atmospheric disturbance. Alex found himself standing in the middle of a lonely street, staring down the empty eyes of the abomination he had come to hunt. It stood roughly seven feet tall, hunched over like some great ape. It's face was a skull with dark spirals coming out from each distorted eye socket. It's mouth was a gaping Maw of squared off teeth and gnashing fangs hidden behind them.
Upon seeing Alex it stretched out its apelike spiked arms and screamed into the heavens. A deafening sound that would send chills into the heart of anyone too weak to withstand the fear. Alex flexed his muscles and prepared himself as the monster charged, preparing to dash out of the way before it could impact.
Alex rolled to the left just in time to avoid the Monster barreling into his chest. The beasts momentum caused it to continue forward bashing it's skull into a nearby streetlamp. Alex pulled himself to his feet and smiled, he knew he was about to have some fun. He cracked his knuckles and felt a power from within well upwards, spreading from his core and making his entire body tingle. His muscles flexed and swelled, causing his clothing to become tighter and his back to straighten.
"You've made a big mistake Hombre." He knew the beast couldn't understand him, but he couldn't help from making a quick one liner like from the movies. He was excited to put this puppy down.
The overall situation didn’t bold well for Jack. Living in Japan without first studying much Japanese proved problematic however after several months that issue, mostly, went away. These days Jack’s primary issues were simply dealing with drunks. Several adults often filled a certain bar Jack loved but also hated. He wasn’t so simple a waiter nor cook, doing so much and dealing with drunks, happy and angry, help him associate better with people. With a heavy sigh tired legs followed suit.
Upon entering a café, beloved by many, he tried lighting the bulb lacking inside his skull. However, sadly he must’ve left his brain somewhere else. Maybe he lost it after staying up all night then getting little sleep this morning. Bringing himself, and a headache, somewhere loud noises were detested would do him good. Thus, the café.
Jack’s overall attire was a plain, loose fitting, black short sleeve shirt. Blue jeans and white velcro shoes almost finished off his attire with his beloved dark blue coat being the crowning glory. With slumped shoulders hands dipped inside pockets with Jack slowly walking about varying isles. Thus far zero plans were made on precisely what he wanted but varying books on philosophy of war and its history were what had his dreary amber eyes.
Deciding on grabbing a copy of Sun Tsu’s Art of War Jack tossed several yen onto the countertop then made way towards the café section. A variety of drinks were popular although one specific drink caught a rising brow. “Huh, a Sailor V themed drink. Yea, I’ll take that.” Taking the lemon custard flavored tea-shake towards a table he plopped down then started looking at the back of his book while sipping

Alex rushed forward, covering the distance quickly in large leaping steps. He closed in on the beast and rimmed his shoulder into its side as hard as he could, connecting with the disoriented creatures ribs and knocking it against a low dividing wall. He took the advantage of the beast on its back and began to pummel it's skull in with all his might. He landed three resounding blows before being shook end off as the beast stood back up.
The beast made its way back to its feet as Alex dashed backwards, both of them on the sidewalk with the street empty between them. They both began a dance as eternal as time. Two predators circling each other, looking for a weakness they could exploit. Alex didn't know how hard the behemoth could hit exactly, but as he watched the beast prepare itself he knew he would find out soon enough.
They charged like rival rams, Alex with his leaping strides matching the beast as it did the same. When they connected there was a flash of brilliant green mist and black smoke, both auras colliding and opposing one another. Alex felt his uppercut connect with the monsters sternum, but he also felt the beast massive arms connect with his ribs a moment too late to use his power to save him.
They both went flying into the air, launched by their own intense powers. The beast flew vertically from the force of Alex's fists, while Alex was launched across the street to collide with the glass window of some café. Alex could feel Glas in his back as he slid to a stop and smashed against the opposite wall of the cafe. He groan lightly and worked himself back to his feet. Thankfully the place was mostly empty, only the staff and a single young man trying to read and drink some strange tea at the same time.
“Sorry about that.” He tried to seem calm and collected as he walked back across the room and crossed back out the broken window. “Lost my balance.” Before he could even let the patrons of the cafe ask any questions he was back on the street, watching as the beast recovered from the small crater it had landed in.
What was going on here!? Some guy, who did not even look Japanese, was tossed through a window then acted like it was only a small deal. Ok, that was just straight up weird. A surprised Jack’s jaw lowered with cringing brows that then widened. He started choking on his tea, hand pressed against chest he spit it out onto the table. ”The hell!?” Was this a movie!? Jack better not be apart of a movie without being paid! Being a background character was cool in all but why was there a guy tossed through the window!? Was he drunk? Jack hated dealing with drunk! But, he did not seem very drunk. Using his paper towel he whipped up his spat out drink then tossing away.
Finishing up his tea Jack tossed it away too then took a broom to start sweeping up the glass everywhere. At least he could help out, maybe get some free drinks out of it too. ”Hey, stop being stupid! Please.” Jack looked outside then spoke up, but his please was in lower tone than his previous phrase. Really, could the guy calm down!? Also, why was it so chilly all of a sudden? It wasn’t that cold outside or maybe it was cooler than Jack thought. Furthermore, he was starting to feel sick to his stomach, a bit dizzy too but tried ignoring it and finish sweeping up the glass.

Alex watched as the gears in the monsters head whirled. It had thrown him clear through that window but he wasn't even really hurt, whereas the beast seemed to be a little concerned. That's when it saw something much easier to deal with. The monster rushed alex, leaping over his head at the last moment and landing behind the unprepared hunter.
"No you dont!" Alex rushed the beast as it crashed the threshold into the cafe, driving his shoulder into its spine and sending them both tumbling and smashing through the broken window. They slammed into the cafe floor and began a massive struggle. The beast clawed at Alex's face as he lay prone on the ground. Guarding his face with his forearms he Alex kicked off with all his might against the horrors chest, sending it flying into the ceiling and crashing back down on a nearby table.
"I'm sorry but you might want to run." Alex dusted himself off and pushed himself to one knee. He turned to look at the boy, blood trickling down from a gash along his brow. "It's not exactly safe here right now."
What precisely was wrong with Jack right now? Had he been dreaming or taken something without realizing it? Well, he had taken some pain pills hours ago although those would've warn off by now! Ok so, then what the hell was with that weird mark that came over the guy's face!? And why was it looking like something that didn't exist move that bastard!? "I'll have whatever he's having." Jack's right brow arose following him moving away from this stranger's struggle with, what Jack presumed, himself. What could Jack do to resolve this conversation? Well, living up the broom he was starting to bash Alex over his skull before stopping himself then stepping away again.
"Sh-shut up! And get out of here you damn druggie! We don't need your kind around here." A bit skittish but Jack was trying to stand up to this supposed drug user. He didn't like their kind despite enjoying pain medication and drinking himself, but he did that stuff in the comfort of his own home when nobody was around. However, breaking the brooms tip it snapped into a makeshift spear and he held it like one. "Oi, get out of here! I said get out!"

While Alex tumbled with the beast the young man was beating him with a broom stick. Alex tried to bat away with his hand and got pricked by the jagged end of the stick as the monster grabbed him by the throat and lifted him into the air. His feet dangled a few feet off the ground as his head was smashed repeatedly into the cafes ceiling.
The monster held him for a moment and squeezed, trying to choke the life out of him. But as his vision blurred the beasts attention changed. It saw the boy with the makeshift spear and howled inches from his face, Alex still struggling in its hands. It dropped him and turned to completely face the boy, drawing it's massive clawed hand back to rake across the boys chest. The claws came within inches of the boys skin, blowing a little wind across his face, as Alex finally managed to get up and grab the beasts armomentum in time.
Alex huffed and puffed, he normally didn't have to worry about civiliansome this much since they tended to run at the first sign of oddness, as he wrenched back the beast arm with a pop. "Kid, stop whacking me with that and run."
A strong wind blew past Jack's face. While he could not determine smell he most definitely felt that something Other was here. Chilly and grim, that wind from whatever faint noise Jack heard sent him stumbling backwards. His heart and body froze, as though blood stopped flowing with mind blank. There was no logical explanation for this! Not only that, but before Alex was held up in mid air! What was happening!? It was here Jack screamed like a young girl. The high pitch squeal enough to hurt both Alex and the Other that was here. The bar owner had snuck in back to try calling cops, but Jack wasn't fully thinking about him right now.
Without thinking, Jack sat up and tackled Alex with his left shoulder. Scooping Alex up and carrying him on his shoulder Jack ran out of the cafe at breakneck speeds. "Ghost. Ghost. Ghost. Ghost. Bad day. Bad day. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!?" Jack cried out while trying to carry Alex, his body pushing itself. Straining but managing to carry Alex along with him at his run. That was until Jack tripped over his own feet and fell into a brick wall with Alex too.

Alex found himself both flabbergasted and impressed as the much smaller young man tackled and lifted him up onto his shoulders. He was even more impressed when the boy ran a few meters, at least he was until the boy stumbled and slammed them both into a brick wall.
Alex groaned and pushed himself back up, this simple hunt had turned out to be much more complicated than it had originally been planned. He didn't know whether to blame the unusually strong monster, the boy, or himself. Nevertheless he needed to protect the kid and squash the bug causing him trouble.
As Alex straightened himself out he ripped the sensory goggle from his face, now broken, and dropped them at his feet. He'd have to make sure to fix those but for now he was at a handicap in the darkness.
“Kid…” He sighed down at the young man and held a hand out towards him. “That beast is coming for us. So either stand and fight, or stay back.” Unbeknownst to Alex the hollow had already begun following them, charging down the empty street towards them as they gathered their senses.
Alex turned to face the beast and prepared himself like a boxer before a prize fight.
