"Ugh," Kyoko gave a long exapersated sigh. "I hate switching cafes. Sometimes, being the best comes with a lot of inconviences."
Every so often, a cafe requested the help of someone from one of the others. Either they were short staffed or they had a promotion going on they wanted to go smoothly. It was always the best employees that were sent over. Kyoko thought it was a good idea at first, but it quickly turned into more work than she was comfortable doing. The Helping Hand and Sugar Books were two of the most widely known in the cafe ring.
"Hello everyone," Kyoko greeted the patrons and others as she headed for the back. She'd come in her maid outfit and wasn't sure if they would have her change. The last few times she was here, they allowed her to wear her usual uniform as a way of promoting her cafe while helping them. While she did inadvertently steal a few customers, most people were loyal to the cafe rather than the girl. Also, anyone following the girls between cafes tended to be more creepy than sweet. Once in the back, she waited for instruction before starting to work.

Sugar Books was always short staffed although Sumire detested hiring people. Getting along with others wasn't her strong suit but also managed most things herself without issue. Problems mostly arose when more than ten people were present. At least this morning Sumire's new arrival came in before Sugar Books opened at six. Currently five she had already prepared various chilled sweets, not having to worry about warm foods today since that wasn't this week's theme. Despite being winter people enjoyed ice cream oddly more than warm bread; though she still was always prepared. Sumire was currently sitting in her office when Kyoko entered. The room was more like a small living room than an office with Sumire sitting on a black leather couch sipping on fresh tea.
She had another cup setting beside a teapot and gave a brief smile, raising left hand palm upwards for her to set in the armchair on the other side of the table. "I was actually thinking about this week's theme." She said in reference to Kyoko's maid attire. "Help yourself to some tea. Jasmine." A nice subtly sweet tea with a strong fragrance. "Oh right, call me Sumire. Though considering I'm thinking about a gothic bunny girl theme this week, I guess Bunny Boss would be more acceptable." Ok, maybe a bad joke.
Same old Sumire. Kyoko never quite understood how she could own and operate a cafe. Her personality wasn't the most... well, Sumire was just plain weird at times. She was cute, but weird. She had a way of walking the fine line between crazy and eccentric. Fortunately, this seemed to be one of her more tame days.
"Hey," Kyoko said with the usual amount of unease as she took the seat across the table. Sumire's office was more comfortable than any other. She took business casual to a whole new level. "Oh, you were thinking of the theme?" Kyoko knew something crazy was coming after that. Sumire's thoughts were scattered and unable to be processed by mere mortals. She sipped some of the tea offered to her, but nearly spit it out when Sumire continued her thought. "Gothic bunny girl?"
It couldn't just be a maid cafe. It had to go beyond for Sumire to be happy. Gothic bunny girls would certainly attract a very specific group of patrons. Kyoko began regretting coming more and more as the day went on. "I'll just get to work Bunny Boss." It may have been a joke, but it was better to just take her seriously.

Sumire was enjoying Kyoko being around, gave her something to look at. Besides, what color panties was she wearing? There was that bit of information Sumire developed called Schrödinger's Panties, unless you lift up the skirt you wouldn't know if they were wearing any or not. Sumi was! Black, but she kept her legs crossed to prevent that. Taking a sip of her tea she shook her head before Kyoko went away. "Wait, we need to get your measurements. We're both girls, so-" Placing down her cup Sumi took out a tape measure, without the box part, and held it up.
"We'll need to send the order in this morning." Sumi wouldn't tell her but she wanted Kyoko to take her measurements too. Eh, maybe hitting on Kyoko like this wasn't the best of plans, but some fan service was required, maybe, for their male customers. Then again, did she really want that kind of attention for Sugar Books? "Ok so, take'em off. No need to worry about covering up, ya hear?" She was faintly blushed with a bright smile, trying to slowly get closer to Kyoko to put the tape around her chest so she could figure out Kyoko's bust size.
Dammit, Kyoko cursed under her breath the moment Sumire asked her to wait. It was like her mother caught her taking her handhelds to school or her teacher noticing she was playing said handhelds in school. However, this was far worse of a scare because she knew what was coming. Sitting at the top of the coaster, staring down at the drop, Sumire asked her for her measurements. More specifically, she asked to get her measurements... again. Every time, every single time, Sumire just had to do something to make it weird. Yeah, they were both girls, but that didn't apply when one girl clearly was sexually attracted to others.
"You already have my measurements on record. Do we really have to do this again?"
She didn't need to answer, it would have just been a clever excuse to get her way. Sumire was more skilled than her in that regard. There were only two options really. Take off her clothing or protest while Sumire took her measurements anyway. Kyoko sighed and rolled her eyes as Sumire came closer. "I'm not taking this off. Do you know how long it takes to get into this outfit? And you'll mess up my hair. I have a shift to start, right? That's why you called for help?" She continued rambling as Sumire wrapped the tape around her chest.

Somehow, yes somehow, Sumire e managed and operated Sugar Books with little help despite not being very good with most people or technology. For some reason she was just simply good at managing a cafe, but why she wasn't sure. Maybe because she ignored most things and just did as she pleased, but that eccentric nature was a part of the flare that was Sugar Books. "Fine, fine." The defeated Sumire simply gave up, tossed away the tape going back to her tea. Following behind Kyoko her mischievous smirk faded into a more natural state with a faint hint of a smile. "What about gothic bunny maids?"
She was being serious now rather than playing around, although tossing around ideas was part of the fun when coming up with weekly themes. "Rather than having to change your attire, since you're so use to getting in it, we could just change up a few things. " Sighing heavily with a pout she crossed her left arm over her breast, tucking hand under right bicep. "I ordered a maid outfit last week, but the one they sent me is a bit loose in the chest." Sumire wasn't the most gifted there though she rarely complained about it. She liked her petite body. Kyoko was more experienced in cosplaying than Sumire. So maybe she could shed some light on the gothic bunny maid idea.
"Oh thank god," Kyoko breathed a sigh of relief. She was free from the first of Sumire's crazy plots. However, the smirk on her face confirmed what she already knew. Sumire wasn't going to stop. She may have given up on the measurements, and even that could come back later, but she was still cooking up other things that would leave Kyoko feeling awkward.
And there it was, the gothic bunny maids. Yes, Kyoko was a skilled cosplayer. Her usual cafe was a maid cafe already, so she had a bit of insight into things. However, she wouldn't have said it in a way that seemed so perverted. Everything Sumire did had a way of becoming perverted at the drop of a hat. "Well, you only need bunny headbands. Maid costumes are usually done in that style right?"
Unless Sumire wanted something more grunge than gothic, the typical maid costume was victorian. It could pass for gothic she supposed, but maybe not perfectly. Either way, she didn't care to be part of it. Sumire could do it herself and with her usual employees. "You should just order a different size or have someone hem it for you." She spoke of the dress she received.

"Happy you offered to hem for me." Sumire got her there. This skilled cosplayer just offered as Sumire's personal makeup artist. Wait, did she like Anime? Sumire had read some Manga but she was more into fantasy books and American comics were just strait up weird. Moving back into her office Sumire changed into different clothes, putting on black short, shorts and a long sleeve sweater that was two sizes bigger than should be. Well, the sleeves were cut short for her wrists so they wouldn't get in way of making things. Putting on an apron to finish her attire Sumire came back out.
"Hilarious how guys fall for things like this." Though her reasoning was more along the lines Sumire like cold weather like today. Customers were just a bonus, although females seemed more attracted to Sumire than males. That was sort of a bonus too she supposed though either gender was fine in her eyes, so long they had a good head on their shoulders. "After work, would you maybe like to go out for a bite to eat?" Her way of asking Kyoko out on a date. Was about time Sumire went on one anyway, no telling how long it had been.
