'This course of events is taking place roughly two weeks before I became a prisoner for the Soul Society. I'm not sure if I would even come out of this alive, so I best start cherishing my memories while I still have them. I remember this one time when Kurumi got really angry at me because I a somewhat failed to make a solar powered toy car from an aluminum soda can. It worked, but it kind of worked too well I suppose. It was hilarious that I couldn't stop laughing at my sister, but at the same time I kind of felt bad due to the fact that the aluminum can took too much energy and kind of exploded.'

It was January 5th, roughly fourteen days before Aien was kidnapped and thus transformed into a substitute Shinigami. Three weeks in total from being captured by the Soul Society. Aien had a day off from school and was quite literally bored out of his mind. With it already being early afternoon Aien had already did his chores, watered the plants in their garden, cleaned up the dojo, maintained the quality on their bokens, and did an hour's worth of meditation before afternoon. It was the stuff that normally takes him all of the free time he gets from afterschool. Yet he just managed to get that all done in just a matter of hours. Aien could've sworn time flew past him and thought much more hours had passed. But no it only took Aien four hours total and it's only 11:30 in the afternoon technically.
Aien laid on his bed while staring up at the ceiling with his already tired eyes. Still in the casual clothing he wore to accomplish his tasks with the exception of shoes since he takes them off the moment he enters the house. It was certainly quiet in his room with his sister practicing her forms and both of their parents replacing their heating lamps to protect their plants from the cold weather. One of the solar panels cracked under the frigid snow a couple of nights before and his father had to order another solar panel to replace it. Apparently that solar panel was delivered today so they're working on those lamps. So that leaves Aien as he takes the can of soda from his nightstand and takes the last sip out of it.

Draining the last of the contents from inside of the can, Aien took a moment just to kill time of examining the facts section. He can actually picture this little thing rolling around on wheels like a little car, but it would be even more hilarious to see his little sister's reaction to it. Especially when she gets back home and suddenly there's this can rolling towards her feet. Picturing that made him chuckle as his mind was filled with mischief at the moment. However he has plenty of time to kill right now, and he'd like to do something anyways. Though even a little toddler could turn a can into a toy car, but what if it operated itself?
Batteries are a pain to deal with since they tend to dry out within just a couple of hours if they're decent brand. However what if that energy could be replenished? The thought of his father throwing away that panel made Aien sprung up on his feet to the ground before making haste down the hallway. From Aien's house, it was only a five minute walk down the street before he reaches the dojo and walked around to the back of the dojo. Where there is indeed a garden that contains various flowers and even vegetables located here and there. On the roof is where both of his parents are located as they had practically attached the solar panels on the roof as if it was part of the roof. Being extra careful they were, as on the edge of the roof is a wide heating lamp and the opposite side of the backyard is a wall that also has a heating lamp. Both was angled down at the plants with a single small solar panel powering up a smaller heating lamp that was angled down to the rest of the solar panels.
"Did you come out of your closet to help us for a change?" A familiar male voice called out from the roof that belonged to Aien's father. Aien of course just smirked at the thought of it, but he replied with the same volume so that his father can at least hear Aien clearly. "Do you still have that broken solar panel by any chance?" The solar panel that was broken is actually the small solar panel that was basically tasked on keeping the other solar panels warm. Hence is why Aien is wanting the broken one because it is small enough to fit the can as a battery source. Even if it is broken, Aien can just search up how to fix it from his phone. His father scratched his beard for a moment thinking about it for a moment. "I believe I set it next to my tool box. It should be just in front of you." So Aien looked down and sees the familiar red box that was opened like a chest revealing a large number of tools. Leaning against the side of it was the broken solar panel, and Aien walks up to it in order to carefully pick it up with his hands.

"What are you going to do with it?" Aien's father asked as he was a bit concerned about his son. Aien looked up with his amber eyes as he has the broken panel in his hands. "Don't know yet to be honest. I figured I do some experimentation on something small with the solar energy source. I'm also planning on fixing this thing too." Aien's last sentence baffled his father since everyone knows that Aien has never really touched a solar panel let alone knowing how to utilize its function. Still Aien took his phone out and began to look up various sites on how to repair a solar panel. Luckily there was an article on how to fix the glass without hindering how much energy it absorbs.
First Aien needs to clean off the glass just in case it has a layer of dust, dirt, and/or even pollen. So he goes inside of the dojo right quick to grab a rag that was clean, but they didn't really care for it. Aien would damp it with water before coming back to the panel and begin to carefully rub the glass. As Aien had feared despite it being cracked. A mixture of soil and pollen coated the glass and thus was the reason why it didn't work as well as before. It would take Aien about thirty minutes of carefully cleaning the panel, and once he was done he threw the rag away and carefully placed the solar panel inside. Aien would check his phone right quick and grab the name of this product he's supposed to get as it isn't expensive luckily and is supposed to work well with solar panels. Basically he needs to get his hands on two epoxies of cell guards with part A and part B. Luckily there's a hardware store nearby, so after letting his parents know that he'll be right back Aien departed for the hardware store.

Aien walked in the hardware store after roughly ten minutes of walking and immediately finds the place mildly crowded with customers. The line was small when the kid walked in, but he immediately went for one of the isles and began his search. Aien had an visual of what the containers look like that contain the cell guards, it's just a matter of finding them that proved to be a problem. It was somewhat like an uncommon item to find with the cell guards usually reserved for companies and such. Still after taking almost half an hour of searching and not being able to find what he's looking for. Aien frowns a bit as he scratched his chin like he possessed an invisible beard as he was thinking.
"Do you need some help kid?" One of the clerks who actually happened to be a technician as well asked Aien. Little did Aien knew is that the clerk had been keeping an eye on the kid since most people who comes in for business are older than what Aien is. The teen would look up with his amber eyes, lighting up due to the well lit area, Aien thought about it for a moment before nodding his head in agreement. "Yeah, I'm looking for some cell guards of part A and part B. But I can't seem to find it unless it isn't named like that." The clerk's brow had risen upon hearing the word cell guards. Mostly because not many people go after those kind of things except for a few specific reasons. "Are you a solar panel technician or something?" As much as Aien would love to nod his head, Aien instead went with the truth and simply shook his head in disagreement. "Afraid not, but apparently mixing these two apoxies into a third container would give me the right mixture to help seal up a solar panel that was cracked."
Obviously Aien wasn't wrong as the clerk didn't say anything that would be criticizing the kid. Instead the clerk actually ordered the two cell guards online because they usually don't carry those items on stock. It keeps them from falling into the wrong hands, and of course Aien went ahead to pay the fee that included the shipping fee. Now that part is done, Aien began heading back towards his home where he'll get an unexpected surprise from his father.
