Aoide’s face still has the roundness of youth that matches her large doe brown eyes that are under two bushy eyebrows. When she was younger she wore her hair in an unruly bob. Currently, her dark brown hair is long and she prefers to wear it in two high pigtails. She is very small and curvy barely clearing five feet, though she cheats and counts the height of her pigtails bring her to 5’2. She wears the traditional Shinigami robes but the sash is orange with several cute keychains that jingle when she moves.

Aoide is energetic is fascinated with how much has changed in the Soul Society and the human world since her disappearance. She very fond of sweet food and sake. She is often careless and reckless in battle, preferring to be fast and hitting fast, to slower more powerful attacks.

Aoide Sato was the only child of the very rich Sato Sake business. She was one of the first recruits to attend the Shinigami Academy. At that time the Academy was brutal and she was one of the few to graduate, mostly due to her talent in swordsmanship and flash stepping. She was placed unranked in Squad One. Over the next several hundred years Aoide worked her way up the ranks to third seat.



Aoide was training to challenge the current lieutenant of Squad One when a rift opened up in the skies of the Soul Society. Frightful creatures flooded from the rift and Aoide was on the front line to try and return them back through the rift. Her sound zanpakuto was particularly affective against the cold blue fire beasts. Through research from Squad Twelve they discovered that the rift was due to a rare energy disturbance and the beast were from some world unknown to the Shinigami. The only way to close the rift would be to be able to match the vibration frequency of the rift and shut it down. Though many of her squadmates tried to hold her back, Aoide recklessly dove into the rift, releasing her zanpakuto as she passed through it knitting the rift shut.

And until the current timeline Aoide had been living in this odd rift world, where portals would open up and go somewhere else or nowhere at all. The entire realm was covered in a dark blue haze caused by the constantly bubbling and bursting blue flames from the black earth. In this realm time moved much slower than the Soul Society. Though thousands of years passed in the Soul Society, only a few hundred years passed in this realm. The realm was so vast that all she saw for a hundred years were the strange beasts that had attacked the Soul Society. When she finally met another soul face to face she had been terrified. This man had a large mouth filled with pointed teeth, his lips stretching back to his pointed ears. His skin was a dusky purple color and his too close together eyes were red.

He called himself Taro and he claimed to be the first hollow. He had been banished by some of the first Shinigami and now he was trapped. From then on Aoide was constantly in a battle with Taro who wanted her Zanpakuto so he could reawaken his full power and use its power to open another rift. The game of cat and mouse was long and exhausting, and one day Taro did managed to defeat Aoide enough to use her Zanpakuto. It took all of Aoide’s power and speed to regain her grip on her Zanpakuto and managed to defeat Taro by unlocking her Bankai. Aoide then passed through the new rift, closing it for good and found herself back in the Soul Society.  Though finally home, Aoide has been weakened by the shift in time and by her battle with Taro and has not been able to achieve Bankai.
