Nowhere does Katsumi feel more at home than Squad 4's Hospital. It is not always a pleasant place, indeed by its very nature, more often than not the misery of mankind's many conditions is ever present here. The most unfortunate cases are always the most painful memories. Katsumi has lost her fair share of patients, seen far too many innocents in pain. These stick out in the young doctor's memories plaguing restless dreams. There were no shortage of good times, however. The Squad 4 team will reminisce the times they came together for a life saving surgery, combining their powers to heal even the most terrible conditions. These memories keep them pressing forward, these good times are the creation of the camaraderie and energy that makes Squad 4 the effective medical corps that it is.
These memories like today. A weeping mother rushed into the emergency room, clutching in her arms a bleeding and meekly wheezing child. Kat is on the case almost immediately.
"Please." She begs, as if they might be heartless enough to turn her away. "Help him."
Katsumi regarded the woman with a warm smile, reassuring as a smile may not be, the child is in good hands. Kat scooped the child into her arms, "I will take good care of him."
She rushes the child to the nearest table, gently setting him down. Quickly she lifted the boy's clothing to inspect the wound, a deep cut in the abdomen, a severe laceration just above the external oblique muscle. A nurse promptly joined Kat at the child's side, with an IV and blood drip.
"Deep puncture wound and laceration approximately three centimeters above the E-oblique, significant blood loss, possibility of lung puncture." The nurse began to rig the system she brought, as Kat deconstructed the situation with an almost robotic tone that betrayed her accent.
This will be easy. A stab wound with a laceration from a drawn cut. Kat would unable to count how many such cases she has dealt with in her years of experience, there have been far too many. The Soul Society can be a very rough-and-tumble place. There is not such thing as a utopian afterlife.
Katsumi stood several paces back from the table, and flicked her coat aside; revealing a katana with a hilt of white bound tightly to her body in a white scabbard. She drew the sword and held it close with its point facing up. The sword itself looked unclean, dotted with smudges and surface rust. A trained eye would be able to tell simply by seeing the blade its edge was dull. Katsumi did not take proper care of her sword. Her hand softly stroked the blade, stopping near the taper of the sword's point. The sword flashed brilliantly white, and her Reiryoku was felt like a wind through the room. The nurses and doctors had seen her release half a hundred times, though it was still a sight they paused to behold.
"Rouse, Inari." With a sound akin to a drawn sword scraping its scabbard the staff suddenly took shape. Kat leaned the pole-arm securely against the table.
She gave a reassuring nod the child's mother. Katsumi held her hands over the wound. With concentration she channeled a thin strand of energy into the wound. The wound slowly closed from the inside out, as Kat maintained a sharp focus of her energies. The child's mother looked on at the doctor performing her duty with a relieved awe. It took only a few minutes for the wound to fully close, for the child's skin to return to colour, as if the wound had never existed in the first place. Not even a scar or a single mark remained.
Kat stood back again and with a flick of her wrist sealed her zanpakuto and enclosed it within its scabbard
"Done and done. His wound is fully healed, a nurse will perform a post-procedure examination to ensure nothing was missed. I have further patients to attend to, if you'll excuse me." Katsumi flipped her coat over her sword to once again conceal it. She bowed her head to the woman and carried off into the halls of the hospital, there was always much for a doctor to do.
"Thank you so much, doctor." The mother called after Katsumi.
Such was an average day for Dr. Katsumi Sora. Someone might call her hero, or a saint, a savior perhaps, and many have. Katsumi would simply say that she is doing her job. One that she very much enjoyed.

Hi. I've never done an RP before, this my first ever post. I was thinking that someone might come in after this event, after perhaps a tough spar or a mission wherein they were injured so Katsumi can heal them. Or whatever. As I said, this is my first time so I don't know 100% how this whole thing works. As such, constructive criticism is not only encouraged but appreciated. Cheers.
