“Head that way, it will seem like a long journey but once you see the dome in the horizon, you are closer than you think. Find me, and we will continue in conversation.”
Those were the words Theocelese spoke to the Adjuchas Hollow but a few days ago. He wasn't sure the Hollow would even take him up on his offer, but there was a time and place for most beings to him. What he thought of each individual was based on a series of personal experiences, and the first one he held this Adjuchas up with high regard. Now the Arrancar was no mathematician, so he could not give an exact numbered percentage, but it would be much higher than the original Hollow who came to him. His reasoning for that, was more so based on the fact she attacked first and did not approach him with mind-numbing questions. Such was the reason why he did not invite the other Hollow, whose name he could not exactly recall at this time, but figured it would be lost to the ages and as such, felt no remorse for not remembering it. Keeping track of the dead was not his job—except if it was a comrade meeting his or her end in glorious combat. Those would be remembered.
Much like most days, Theocelese would rise at what would be 0430 in the human world every day, and collectively start to clean up Las Noches little by little. Almost all the junk and rubble were cleared out and what could be salvaged or re-used was stocked up in his labs. Any remaining weaponry he found from the days before his absence were put in the armory. A collection of thirty swords, fifteen shields and sixty spears. All useful in combat. All of the training gear, that numbered at least a hundred times more in numbers, but that was all that was, just training gear. Good to bruise someone, but that was about it. Las Noches was starting to look good again, what with the internal lighting fixtures having been repaired and the water systems functioning fully again. The place was stable, but far from his expectations. He needed more hands and more brains, but that was for later.
After his day of work he would clean up with a nice bath and go to his kitchen for a cup of coffee, a cigarette and something to eat. Usually that something to eat varied, and having a bit of a sweet tooth, Theocelese decided to have some of the left over cake he purchased from one of his many acquintances, Caesar, a vizard who ran a most spectacular shop with some honest to goodness, best cakes he had ever eaten. Granted, none of it compared to Theocelese's mother's cooking...but then again anyone with a decent mother would say the same thing, even if it wasn't true. It was a strawberry crème shortcake with drizzles of dark chocolate all over it. Theocelese enjoyed this, and his coffee, all the while wearing nothing but a pink and purple bathrobe over a pair of gym shorts, a black t-shirt (complete with a breast pocket). Sticking out underneath it all, and what stood out the most, were the polar bear feet slippers the Arrancar wore on his feet.
She'd been walking through this God forsaken desert for a few days now in the general direction the arrancar had pointed after their encounter. She was never really one to take orders, but she hadn't even really been able to scratch him so she figured hearing him out and figuring out how to get to that level of power was worth the journey as he had called it. She could see the dome he mentioned, even at a distance. Though she noted that the closer she got to it the less lower class hollows were around, she wondered if that was due to his presence there or if it were because of something else.
It mattered not, right now she just needed to make it to that wretched dome that seemed to be sitting on the bloody horizon. She could already tell that the structure had been there for some time, but as a hollow she was young regardless of how powerful she currently was. The history of her race was lost to her, she only knew the most basic and general things about hollows. A few topics more in depth than others but she was no true expert.
Eventually her feet carried her to what she assumed used to be the front door into the large fortress. She walked through the opening in the wall, looking around for the arrancar she was supposed to meet. Now that she thought about it, was this a trap? No he was strong enough to crush her without really trying, there would be no point of leading her into a trap unless it was for his own sordid entertainment though he hadn't seemed the type. With that she pushed the thought out of her mind her senses scanning the area first before she even tried to call out. It was a large place with a lot of ground to cover even with her particular affinity for sensing things she couldn't do it all on her own, and her voice was liable to carry a lot farther.
There too was another being wandering around, one that was an Arrancar but not the one that Terra would have sought out. This one, well, he was something akin to one of many Theocelese's former hands. He too knew the constraints of slavery under brutal dictatorship, and he too wanted to spit in the face of that bastard, Aizen. Course, he wanted to do more too, but given his level and status, that was just a pipe dream and nothing more. He was one of the few Arrancar that stayed behind when the place went to hell in a handbasket, was also one of the few who fought off the attacking faction of Aizen's fanatics when they learned of Theocelese's absence and took the opportunity to attempt a siege. Both sides lost much, but the attackers were thwarted. Now this Arrancar in particular was from an area where drinks were made in bathtubs, hidden behind the facade of “proper” establishments. As such, his style of dress was one that matched Theocelese's own from time to time.
“Yeah, I'm here ya lil loud mouth. Sheesh, no need to be yellin'. Take it yer here to see the boss?” Vincent Tucker spoke, his accent one from the Eastern coast of America. He was dressed in a full on black and white checkered suit, looked as though it was pressed into perfection with no wrinkles or creases just this morning. “Yeah yeah he told me a tyke like you was going to be stumbling round. Youse want me to take you to him or ehh, give ya a tour?”
Another voice responded to her, the accent was off, it wasn't Japanese and not one she was familiar with. She glanced in the direction the voice came from, her facial features showing an expression of annoyance with the work "lil" being used to refer to her. She had half a mind to fire a cero into the oncoming arrancar's face but refrained as she turned her small form to fully face him, her heading tilting up to look the gigantic figure in his face.
"If your boss looks like a human then yes, he's the one I'm hear to see." She wasn't hiding her annoyance with the arrancar as she spoke, but she would leave it up to him whether or not he cared to find out why she was irritated. As far as she was concerned her telling him would lead to her being teased and that would only anger her more which would most likely not end well. She was here on a mission, and it was one she would like to fulfill.
"As for your offer to take me on a tour perhaps after, I've walking for a while now and would rather just get straight down to business first... actually I could use a bite to eat." She had a feeling feasting on this arrancar would be quite satisfying, but she wasn't sure she was strong enough to take him down. "I did notice not too may hollow were wandering close by here, makes it hard for one to satisfy their appetite." That was the only hint she'd drop to the information she wanted. Where she could find prey, she needed food and she wanted it now.
Tucker gave the Adjuchas a steely glance, his eyes squinted as if sizing up the little thing. “Well we aint got nothin' like that to suit yer uh, palate, but boss man will figure it out. C'mon, I'll take ya to'm” With a click of his tongue, the Arrancar began walking. The hallways weren't too impressive, as most things under reconstructure didn't exactly look pretty or appeared to the visage of some grandeur master plan. In due time, it would fit that bill, but for the time being it would appear that there was a lot of work to be done. The walk would have taken about five minutes, as Terra was pretty close to where Theocelese sat reading his newspaper but was just a bit a ways off. Through a doorless opening, Tucker waved the Adjuchas on through to a large room where bright lighting spilled into the comparably more less lit hallways. From the smells coming within, the only one Terra might have known was meat having been cooked.
“Heya, boss. Pups'ere to see ya.”
From a corner booth, a large piece of paper folded to reveal the being Terra met some days ago that was once hell bent on giving her a beating. Blue-gray smoke rose from where he was at in a single line and it hit the ceiling, pooling outwards over towards another booth or so before dissipating. Theocelese leaned to his right, his eyes shifting to the floor and taking in the sight of the tiny Adjuchas. If only the Hollow knew how many others were once in this situation. He gave a friendly wave, and motioned for Terra to come on over and have a seat.
Apparently the arrancar in a suit didn't know where she could find food, but the one who had told her to come here did. Well she surely hoped that was the case. Alas this one was just ludicrously dressed as the other if not more so. Her eyes took in his attire, she started to wonder if this guy was for real or just a complete joke. In any case she said screw it and entered the room, flashing the other arrancar an angry glare as he called her pups. He was pushing his luck. She returned her attention to the one that had called her there to see him giving her a serious look.
She wondered could have possibly going through his mind at the time but pushed the thought aside as he waved her over to come and join him. She sat in the next available chair and looked around, the place wasn't anything spectacular, but it was still more than what she currently had which was nothing. "I'm curious as to why you brought me here, but before that. I'm hungry I haven't had a real meal for almost a day, the closer I got to this place, the less hollow I found." She was willing to listen to what he had to say, but she still needed food to sate this forsaken hunger.
“I asked you to come to this place,” Theocelese paused for a moment to take a drink from his coffee. “because there are many who wish to seek out the pinnacle of our kind's evolution. There are many who look for this, yet do not find it. There are many more who find it, and do not comprehend the struggle they themselves willing accepted. I believe,” This time, Theocelese paused to take a drag from his cigarette and then again, from his coffee. The small Adjuchas could wait just those few moments. Theocelese knew that hunger Terra spoke of, but what would happen in her travels to ascend if the fire ignited in her gullet, but she could not find a suitable meal? “you are one out of the many, who may accomplish what she seeks for herself. That is all, and such a rarity amongst the sea of Hollow I have encountered is refreshing. Someone with the drive to succeed, better yet, someone who can show such a trait.”
Rising from his seat, Theocelese motioned for the Hollow to follow him into the kitchen area. From there, he pulled a slab of beef bordering the size of enormous, and slapped it down on an already prepped pan. He cooked it on high, fourty-five seconds on each size so there was a bit of a nice char to the exterior, but the interior was still raw and bloody. With the meat placed upon a platter, rather than a plate, he gave the counter a couple of pats and nodded to the quickly prepared meal for the Adjuchas. “Let's just say, between you and I, I am interested in knowing your plans for the future. How you foresee yourself handling in the most important and dangerous situation known to our kind. The ultimate feast. You know what I speak of, yes?”
The man seemed to be in no rush at all. Was he always like this? Or was this a luxury presented to those that reached what she saw as the top of the food chain. The pinnacle of hollow power. Still that didn't really concern her, she was hungry and this hunger was something she didn't particularly enjoy. Though even that still wasn't her problem, the problem was that it had almost been a full day since she found food. If she didn't eat well, she would digress and that wasn't exactly in any of her future plans. Still she waited patiently, listening to the Arrancarr as he spoke of her. Sounding as if he were actually singing he praises.
As he stood so did she too followed in his stead. She wasn't sure what he was trying to get at, all she recalled was taking the time to carry out what she seemed as due judgement on those that had attempted to do her harm whether by accident or purpose. Still it was obvious the man liked her for her initiative for those situations. Finally he gave her food and about time. She bit into the meat placed in front of her allowing it to for the time being subdue her hunger. She could hear him talking saying something about the ultimate feast but she wasn't quite sure what he meant. Well she'd heard rumours but... she thought they were simply that, rumours. Perhaps this man was the denial to her theories though.
"I assume you're speaking of that crazy story of how to stop this undying hunger inside me. To eat a hollow that was even higher than the adjuchas class." She didn't truly want to believe that was true but he was refutable proof. He was clearly on higher plane, but then again he wasn't fully hollow was he?
“Yes. It does come to an end, for the most part. I am proof of that. They are rare, but they are terrifying. I speak, of course, of the Vasto Lordes. In my forced servitude to the man who claimed this place as his own, I met four others. They were all Arrancar, and each were unique in their own right, but do know that these beings exist. If you wish to seek out that which feasts on all others, I must advise you to take extreme caution. Recklessness and wild abandon can only get you so far.”
While the small Hollow ate, Theocelese took it upon himself to take out a skirt steak for him. He spoke as he seasoned the meat and tossed it on the grill. The initial sizzling started, and he left from his position to go to the freezer and grab a large, metal pan. Pre-shredded potatoes he got ready for the next few days just in case he wanted some hashbrowns, and right about now he was wanting that. Hell, while he was at he...Theocelese grabbed himself four eggs, and four pieces of thick-cut bread. Once the potato shreds were on the grill, he buttered the bread up and tossed them as well. The eggs would be the last to go on, as they took the shortest amount of time to cook.
“Supposing you came across one of these beings, what is your plan of action? You have size as both advantage and disadvantage. Harder to hit, but it might be able to grab your entire body in one grab. You have to be smart with this, from what I know...They typically don't let someone hunting after them run away.”
She listened to him, absorbing the information he gave her while she ate. He was right, she was small and hard to hit, but he also stated that the hollow could possibly grab her in one hand. "For one thing, I'm a lot tougher than I look, and I also tend to not get too close to my opponents if I can help it." She needn't give him the dirty details of all her abilities. One simple strategy was more than enough. It wasn't as if she were lying, her defence was probably her strongest weapon. She also packed a mean Cero, not to mention her release was nothing to sneeze at. Still from what he said these Vasto Lordes weren't pushovers either.
"I'm not entirely sure to be honest. Up until now I haven't really thought about it seeing as how I thought they were a rumour and all. Though it wasn't as if she'd never fought opponents larger than herself before. There was rarely a hollow she came by that was a small as much less smaller than her. She figured she'd simply do the same as always and adapt to the situation as it came. "I wouldn't know what to expect so planning for it wouldn't be of much use would it. I simply need to be as strong as I can possibly be at this Class and then go for it." She did agree that she couldn't be reckless, but how could she plan for something she didn't even know if she could find and if she did she wouldn't sure as to how to deal with it. "The best answer I suppose, is to overwhelm it and try to take it out as soon as possible. From the sounds of it, a dragged out fight not entirely be in my favour."
"No, you do not want it dragged out very long. Fighting a war of attrition will be futile if the castle you siege can outlast you by a far margin. Personally, I do not condone what I tell you because of the person I am, but you need to fight low and fight dirty. Expect you prey to do the same, and most importantly, recognize you are not there for idle conversation. I once heard tales of one Vasto Lorde that was once a siren from my time, and her powers lay more in her words than big, flashy powers or frightening strength or agility. They said she would lure Adjuchas by the thousands with her song and entrance them, then one by one, she would liquify their souls into orbs and drink from them until they were nothing left."
He was finishing up his own plate by the time he finished speaking. Eggs overeasy, steak, hashbrowns and good cuts of toast. One by one, each piece of the meal took its place on his plate. Theocelese picked up his meal and the plate containing the rest of Terra's and nodded for her to follow him on out of the kitchen. He took his seat at the counter, sitting atop a swiveling stool and let the Adjuchas' plate rest a few feet away. With fork and knife in his hands, he began cutting his steak into smaller pieces. He'd thought about a way he could prepare her for the task ahead of her, and as he dipped the toast into the egg yolk and took a bite, it dawned on him he didn't have a drink. Theocelese rose from his seat, and went to a machine on the opposing end of the counter they would be at with a glass door, opened it up, and took out a liter bottle of bubbly, clear liquid. He loosened the cap, letting the loud hiss escape before he set it down. A small glass and a small bowl were grabbed, and he poured some of the fizzy drink into both containers.
"You ever have club soda before?" He asked as he went back to his seat and began to properly chow down now that everything was here.
