APPEARANCE
Cross is a blank slate, in a literal sense. His head styled to look similarly to a knights helmet if all detail were wiped away. With no real features, the only differentiating features he has are the cross on his face and the scarf like coil around his neck that splits off into four separate, controllable fringes. This scarf is blue, breaking from the whites and grays of his main body, with each fringe being about 10 feet long and capable of moving as if they were snakes. The cross on his face being where his nickname comes from. With no face to speak of, his deep, booming voice appears to come from no where, with people only being able to tell that it came from the hollow's general direction. While he does not appear to be able to see behind or to the side of him past human feasibility, no eyes can be spotted on his smooth exterior. Obviously incapable of normal facial expression, he somehow gives off a vibe of nothingness, as if he really shouldn't exist, but yet somehow is there.
The body itself looks like what a cubist drew it, all angles with the only thing making it slightly human is the general shape of the body. Cross's torso is best described as a square that thins out at the waist, widening out where a human would have hips. The body almost looks like it has a jacket drawn onto it, with a gray zipper running down the middle. The only thing breaking this gray zipper being the hole in the middle of his chest. His shoulders aren't connected the the torso itself, instead spikes jut out where shoulders should be, creating sharp points at the end of each spike. His arms go straight down from the spikes, looking like he is wearing gauntlets over arms. Each finger ends in a sharp point.
Finallyhis lower body, his hips itself jut out from the lower part of the torso. The legs continue the trend of his extremities and head, looking like grieves a knight would wear. The thickest part of his body, they narrow to the size of his neck around the ankles. His feet, if you can call them that, look more like high heel shoes, with the main part of the feet being a spike with a flat side for standing on.
The entirety of the body gives off an elastic sense, even if it looks like metal, Cross is constantly twitching, with his arms, legs and neck uncontrollably jutting out in angles and ways that would be impossible if he had anything close to human bones are physiology. Cross is capable of controlling these twitches in combat and when concentrating, often times using them to his advantage to attempt to dodge attacks.
PERSONALITY
Hunger, hunger is Cross's driving tenet, his north star. While capable of rational thought and self control, he willingly succumbs to the hunger that all hollows feel. Making it his driving principle, he constantly wants to feel souls being quenched, and their essence being added to his existence. This high is what makes Cross continue living.
Cross's hunger is almost like a belief system to him, replacing the one he felt so strongly about when he was a human. While initially simply an instinct, he now views it as a calling, his holy mission to add souls to his existence until all souls reside in a singular home, himself. For all souls to join him in heaven, Hueco Mundo. While he views fellow hollows as targets to eventually eliminate in the long run, he sees no reason to prematurely end their existence. After all, they are all fellow acolytes, doing God's work. For this reason, he is capable of talking to and even working with fellow hollows, with the end goal being for all souls to reside inside hollows and for him to then end their existence to take in all souls.
For the same reason he gets along with fellow hollows, he has strong enmity against the Arrancar. They are heretics, using their god gifted powers and rejecting the masks of their faith in eternal blasphemy. The sooner their existence ends, the sooner Hueco Mundo can be turned to its true purpose of uniting all souls in heaven. While realizing they can be more powerful then his godly abilities, he will kill any and all Arrancars that are at his mercy, or run to kill them another day.
Vizards are in a similar boat as the Arrancar, they too being creatures attempting to pervert god's power with their own petty ambitions and goals. Selfish and disgusting in his view. He takes a similar approach as he does Arrancar, killing them when he can but realizing his limits and retreating when necessary.
Normal Shinigami are viewed similarly to his former enemies during his life, as zealots of another faith, who must be put to the sword in the name of the one true God. While holding no particular personal enmity, Cross does what any self respecting follower of God would do and end their existence, adding them to himself. Showing them God's light through their cleansing death.
Any other human like creature is viewed as a lost sheep, waiting for a shepherd to guide them to their eternal paradise. He views the killing of humans as a sacred activity. Going at it as if it is a holy sacrament. He speaks to the victim throughout the chase and the kill, telling them how being added to his being cleanses them, and a brighter future awaits the victim, if only they surrender to his holy mission.
When alone, which has come to be often when he wanders the holy dessert of Hueco Mundo. He often contemplates his own existence and the existence of those around him. His place in God's plan is of particular wonderment. While never showing outside weakness, he is constantly plagued by self doubt, this holy mission could of been given to any hollow, why does Cross believe he knows God's will? What if he simply was another false prophet, like the one he fought against in life?
He still remembers his past with crystal clear clarity. He often looks back on his life as a human with both regret and anger, his experiences in life fueling his twisted christian beliefs.
HISTORY
Jacque Chevalier was born in 1164 AD to a lowly baron in Gascogne. His father being a french nobleman with a Navarran wife, they were somewhat socially isolated, with only a small town with a simple church to the barony's name. While never wanting for food, shelter, or clothing, the family was a poor one in comparison to most nobles. The only honor that made them of any import to historical records, is that the father had earned the rare honor of being knighted by the king himself due to valorous action. This afforded the young Jacque a rare opportunity to become a page, and eventually a squire to his father for much of his young life. With the only other thing of import is the piety his family instilled in him, often times going to the church three to four times a week to pray with the lowly priest who serviced the village under the family reign.
His life was one of mundane repetition, going from training with a blade, to prayer, to reading the bible throughout his day to day life. If it was not for him being the heir to his father's meager inheritance of land and riches, he would of joined the priesthood. Instead his life took a different turn. When he was fifteen, the Pope called for a new Crusade against the muslims of the Levant. With zeal only a true believer could wield, he begged his father for the opportunity to join the French troops joining the Crusading army being gathered by the King. His father, initially reluctant, eventually allowed it, seeing that his son's determination was not easily ignored. He went off to the French capital of Paris, eager to use his sword arm in defense of the faith. With little reason not to, the French king decided to knight all nobles who had volunteered to fight in the Holy Land, making Jacque a chevalier in a mass knighting. In life, this possibly was the proudest moment in his short life.
Taking two whole years to reach the shores of the Holy Land, Jacque was just reaching manhood. As a young soldier with little combat experience, he still viewed combat in a romantic sense, viewing himself as a holy knight on a mission from God to slay the blasphemers plaguing the birthplace of Christendom. It only took a year for him to lose this naivety. After sacking just two cities in that year, he saw the worse humanity had to offer. Raping and pillaging was the creed that the crusaders followed, not the bible as he was led to believe when the pope called for this holy war. While still following his knightly code and religious beliefs, he never partook in this sacrilege.
After the second sack of a city, he viewed one such atrocity, and his actions here would change his life forever. Two men wearing the cross, had cornered a woman, no older than Jacque was. To his eyes, the only crime she had committed was the faith she chose. Not viewing this as a good enough excuse to forever take away her innocence. After attempting to talk them down, a fist fight ensued where he barely eked out a win. While he had a black eye, both crusaders ran, no longer seeing this as an easy target. Before he blacked out, the only thing he could say was his name to the girl.
He would wake up later in what he would find out to be her house. Her name was Najmah, and she was alone in this city. With her family either dead or fleeing from the city. This chance encounter, would end up changing this young man's life forever. A short courting followed, similar to modern day dating if such a concept had existed at the time. Jacque had volunteered to stay in the city, holding it for the faith until a time where a lord could be chosen for the city. As a glorified guard, he had a great degree of freedom in what he did, so he would secretly sneak out of the barracks, and largely live with his beloved. They would even secretly marry when he was twenty two, a crime in this age of religious intolerance. This would be their undoing, as a week after their marriage, his fellow crusaders had found a ring under his pillow. Knowing their were no christians in this city besides the men the army had left behind, their was really only one explanation.
Jacque was forced to confess to his supposed sin, tortured for weeks to finally give up the name of the woman he married. Luckily a name did little to help them find her, but with a confession on hand, they summarily executed him, lopping off his head. To the history books, this extremely minor soldier's story had ended, but to Cross, it had only just begun. Unable to move on to the Soul Society, he was tied to his beloved. He couldn't move on, knowing his former comrades were searching the city for the woman that had supposedly corrupted him. Following Najmah as a plus, he quickly found he could do little, which made the hollowfication process move faster, as his anger and despair allowed for a hole to quickly form. His mask that formed was simple and godly. Plain white with only a cross marring its otherwise plain features. While little better than a beast, he still protected Najmah when the crusaders finally came. Like a loyal dog he savaged the crusaders who couldn't even see him. While safe at the moment, this pegged his love as a witch. For a year he protected his love from the crusaders, until finally, what little humanity he had left that allowed him to protect her left him. Knowing that he took in each soul that he killed, his animalistic instincts figured that killing her would be the best way to protect her, becoming one in the afterlife. In her final moments, she spoke only one name, "Jacque....."
This was his last victim that he could recall before he found a way to go to Hueco Mundo. Unable to fulfill his hunger by killing humans, he instead feasted on his fellow hollow, killing many to temporarily fill that hole he always felt. This led to him eventually joining together with other hollows to form a gillian. Cross was lucky enough to become the controlling consciousness, and continued to feed on the low level hollows of Hueco Mundo, and occasionally other gillians when the opportunity presented itself.
This allowed him to eventually be the form he is today, evolving into an adjuchas after a few hundred years. Now capable of rational thought, he remembered what he did to Najmah. Overcome by grief at first, he eventually came to terms with it, combining his actions, hunger, and christian beliefs to justify his continued existence. Coming to view the endless desserts of Hueco Mundo as heaven, he decided to become the eternal paradise himself. To take in all souls into a single existence. So no one would ever hurt people like the Crusaders hurt both him and Najmah. He took comfort in knowing that those that tried to hurt her, were now peacefully coexisting with Najmah inside of him.

Few things before I start grading.
First off, because we use an account based character system, you'll need to change your account name to the name of the character. You can do this by going to profile > edit profile > personal, and there should be a "display name" section where you can edit to your character name. While you're in the personal section, you also need to fill out the profile and OOC alias sections. For profile just link this thread and for OOC alias you basically just put the name you use in Cbox so for you I would assume thats malacanth.
You also need to add a 180x360 hover image in the same area. This doesn't have to be a picture of your character if you dont want it to be. If you need help with getting an image that fits and looks good feel free to PM me and I'll help you out with it.
