"Are you ready to order? Or do you need a minute to decide?"
"I'll take just another minute, expecting a friend."
The waitress smiled and nodded before heading off to talk to customers at another table. Seran sat outside at a small wire table in one of the two chairs of a similar design. It was a warm day, the sun just reaching full height in the sky. He adjusted his mirrored sunglasses, pushing them up to protect his eyes from the glare. He glanced back over his shoulder at the clock displayed in the restaurant's window for the outside seating, 11:45, he was early. He crossed his legs and picked up the small ceramic cup that held his tea.
Despite the nice day, and relaxed nature of the outdoor seating, Seran remained slightly on edge. He hadn't come here to eat after all, but to meet with his contact within the Seireitei. After several weeks of planning, he was finally ready to proceed with a plan he had dreamed about since his earliest days after escaping the Soul Society. He took a small sip from the cup, enjoying the lite flavor of the liquid in his mouth and the steam the flowed around his nose. He glanced around again, searching for Arashi's familiar face.

A loud yawn escaped past the lips of a male who just awoke from a nap. He had been napping for a solid hour and a half; waiting until it was time for his appointment. He glanced over at a hanging clock and noticed that it was about half past eleven. He was about ten minutes away from the location of his meeting. More than likely his company was already there, seeing as he was always late to things, and this was just part of his personality.
He gathered his things up before leaving the house he had stayed at. It was his old human house, kept in top shape, this thanks to his significant other. It took ten minutes for the man to walk to the place of business, bypassing a few of the servers the man quietly took his seat. He sat across from a business associate, Seran.
"It's been awhile." He said casually to his acquaintance. They had not met in sometime since their last escapade with a certain substitute shinigami. He wondered, what did the mod soul want with him? It obviously would deal with Soul Society, as he was possibly the only one on the inside; at least that's what he assumed. He wondered just how many people Seran had befriended. Arashi had to give it to the person, he was a good business man.[/justif][/blockquote
"It has hasn't it. My apologies for that, but events have kept me busy, especially with this move back to the human world. Las Noches isn't as safe as it used to be since..."
Seran trailed off, not really wanting to bring up the disbandment of the Alliance. He took another sip from his cup to fill the brief pause, looking out over the street as he resumed speaking.
"It's not important. Things are set up here now, and I'm rebuilding. But it isn't some walk in the park, I don't have the kind of power and racial authority that Theo had..... or the magnetic personality."
He paused again as the waitress returned and took Arashi's drink and food order.
"Are you ready to order then?"
"Uh yes, I'll have the Tempura, with extra shrimp."
She jotted down everything on a small pad before turning and heading back inside. Seran poured more tea into his cup before continuing.
"The point is the only way to draw in people and support now is to step into the limelight, do something that will draw attention... for better or worse."
He turned to face Arashi, emphasizing the seriousness of his tone.
"I won't lie to you, what I'm going to ask of you is on a completely different level from our previous dealings. Stealing items no one will miss and intervening in matters that are not unusual for a shinigami is one thing. But this time its treason we're talking about, I'll suddenly be on their radar again, and if we mess up they'll know you work for me. This is the line, you cross over and there is no going back, for either of us. I obviously won't force you, you're free to walk away now, no hard feelings. But I can promise you that the rewards are worth the risk."

He listened to the man speaking about how he had moved to the human world. Did something occur in Hueco Mundo? He briefly turned his attention to the waitress. She was asking him what he wanted as a meal. "I'm content with just a glass of water." Arashi responded. She jotted it down before taking, Seran's order.
As the lady went away his business partner begun to speak again. He could tell that there was a bit of an emphasis on his part; he was making it a point to be serious. His body was relaxed against the chair, even during something this serious he continue to keep his sheepish facade. However, he was wide awake, and paying close attention to this man. For a long time he wondered if he should continue to work with him; there were doubts. He was supposed to be on Soul Society's side, that meant eliminating their enemies, and not comitting treason. However, he sat there quietly as Seran talked about the situation. It seemed he wanted to send a message to everyone, that he was a power house, and a threat to Soul Society.
He knew that if push came to shove that he could leave. Hell, he could even fight with the mod soul and end everything right here. Yet, there was something stopping him. Lyn had dropped off the face of the Earth, Ain was missing, everyone he once considered an ally was missing. Even by being with Soul Society he still didn't feel the same companionship he once had. Arashi sat there pondering the words. It was treason, he would be betraying the shinigami, but would it be worth it? If they never found out it was his fault then it could be.
"You know, this is the hardest thing for me to consider, since it is going against everything I wanted in life. I wanted to only help others, to work with the other shinigami and to protect those that I could. However, here lately it seems like maybe it would be best for me to do what I want. What kind of rewards are we talking?" He looked the man directly into his eyes, for a brief moment even his serious side showed. The man that sat across from Seran was doing this for ulterior motives; they both wanted something out of this meeting. Arashi just hoped it would actually be something he would want.
Seran paused, unsure of how much to reveal. Arashi seemed on the edge of coming to his side, he was lost, conflicted, looking for a path to follow. Seran decided to be blunt.
"The reward is potentially a better world. You have those you care about I'm sure, do you believe you can protect them under the restraints of the Gotei 13? Where all the wealth, knowledge, and power is horded and hidden away to only be used and known by a select few. Look around us..."
Seran motioned generally to the world around them as a whole.
"The human world is free from the governance of shinigami, and in the past thousand.... no you can even just look at the past hundred years to see. Compare it to the Soul Society, where a single city surrounded by a massive wall sits, surrounded by poverty. The humans believe when they die, they go to a better place, to paradise, yet they are better off in this world then they are in the next."
Seran took another drink and refilled his cup.
"Imagine how far we could progress with knowledge they hide away. This world would become the paradise."
Then Seran smiled and turned to face Arashi again.
"And of course their will be more tangible rewards as well, imagine the power we could obtain with the information in the Daireishokairō, power that would draw allies to us like flies to honey. And then we will be the ones with the power, and we'll use it to fix the mistakes of the Gotei."

He watched Seran carefully. The man spoke confidently that with this knowledge that they would acquire would change everything. Was this actually true? Seran hadn’t lied to him before. However, this was a very dangerous game to play. Arashi was still a Shinigami, he was treated like one on a daily basis, but deep down he was more than that. After all he was originally a human who died in a battle. Memories came pouring in his mind as he came to his conclusion. He would work with Seran on this. Arashi believed that the two of them did have potential to do something in this world; something that could change it. Hopefully they would be changing it for the better.
”Well as long as we can do this without them ever finding out I will help. I’m sure you would agree that having me do these deeds in secrecy is for the best. After all it helps to have a man on the inside.” He took a sip from the glass of water that the waitress presented him; a smile gracing his lips as the cold liquid went down his throat. There was a mutual respect here between the two of them. In the back of his mind he did hope that there wouldn’t be a need for him to intervene in any sort of combat. His mind was briefly intruded by the memory of his lieutenant and of the tenth squad captain. They had been betrayed before, if they knew he was doing this it would end quite poorly, his fingers crossed; he hoped that it would not come to that.
Again he sipped from the glass of water; the cold liquid gave a sense of refreshment as his hand sat the glass back down. ”So, what am I going to be doing for you?” He would just be up front about it. He wanted to know what he needed to do.
