"You call yourselves trainers? Instructors? Masters and swordsmen? I have seen rocks that move faster than you" A loud thud shuddered the walls of the training grounds. "Stop whining, if you don't want to get hit then move faster!" Yelling ensued, followed by a scream and more thuds. "Pick your knees up, you call that a step?" a high pitched squeek that one would assume came from a girl but was in fact a man. "You three, this is not pay-per-view, are you in or out?" Formal yelling was made, rife with fear. Followed by a loud hiss and shouting. "Its not my fault his leg is so breakable." a sigh, and a softer thud.
The speaker is one Yorishou Kiyoshi, ML rank of the 11th division. Having decided on his final day of probationary confinement to the SS that he would head into the Training Grounds one last time. It was luck and the lords will that it was a training day for low class shinigami. Over a hundred hollow fodder class munchkins with textbook moves and half assed kido. Being the generous man he was, he had offered to train personally, anyone who could land a hit on him. An offer that was hilariously, but immediatly taken up by nearly every trainee and even some of the teachers after he demonstrated his power. From the previous encounters, you can guess how well that is going.
Standing in the centre of a sandy area, blood thoroughly soaked through it and all around Yorishou but none on himself or his blade. His left arm behind his back, blade in his right. He stood tall, straight back and firm footed, face calm as he waited for the next attack. They thought this was to be just a simple excercise day, and as such, only the minimal of healers were present. Very much aware of the panic going on at the walls as people, both wounded and not were trying to get more healers on the scene. He could sense them. A small group, probably all the 4th could spare, heading that way quickly. He wondered how much fun he could have before they arrived.
Dropping his sword, he beckoned the remaining dozen trainees forward with his hand. It was about proving a point now, with nothing to gain from this, he just wanted to prove a point.
Tatsu was well on his way towards the training camp apparently another intructor was going to hard on the rookies again, how he remembered those days made him shudder, he remembered the hard fights and long kido practices, he was bad at kido, but damn was he gifted at healing, he almost wished one of the recruits lost an arm so he could show off a little, but that was simply in his head.
He appeared behind the line of recruits, some of them were injured but most of them were probably faking it more than others. He raised an eyebrow and wanted to see which instructor was doing such a scene. Slowly the armed 4th division member worked his way towards the edge of the circle, shinigami outfit as clean as it could be, scabbard as shined as it could be, his first aid kit, neatly strapped on the lower part of his back. Slowly whispered emerged and some laughter, apparently the 4th division was the laughing stock around these parts, these recruits probably dreamed about being part of the 11th.
Noticing the attention he was getting Tatsu raised a brow, he felt somewhat insulted that even the recruits would speak behind his back like that. The other members of the 4th division quickly made their way towards the recruits, but Tatsu, Tatsu didn't care, he wanted to show these folks what it meant to be a shinigami, that even someone from the 4th division could have his steel tested and do better than them.
Those thoughts running through his mind, Tatsu had his fist tightened around themselves, he took a step forward, but the look on his face remained the same, even though all those emotions ran through his mind.
''I will fight'' He simply said, looking at the unknown shinigami in front of him. He moved his hand to his sword in a clear fashion, the whetstone inside the scabbard cringed as the blank zanpakuto was being pulled out. His eyes never left the other shinigami as he did so, he wouldn't attack an unarmed man, but the look on his face also meant that he wouldn't be made a fool out of himself.
From another perspective, the recruits were having the times of their lives, they'd take a step back and prepare to watch the 'Flimsly' fourth division member get destroyed in front of their eyes.

Yorishou glared at those behind the fourth. How dare they think little of any man, especially a brave 4th division "This man has decided to fight and you mock him for it?" he stamped on the floor, a burst of reiatsu making his sword jump, catching it smoothly behind him with his left hand and bringing it pointing at the challanger. "You would sneer at bravery? Become men-" he searched the crowd, extinguishing the looks and whispers. "-then come back and try again The glare turned into a grin as his gaze fell upon the man.
It was uncommon for a fourth division to spar, even to be this brave. He always saw them as more of a 'wait until the gunfire has stopped then crawl to the wounded' kinda people. But then again, he did not know many fourth divisions, at least not personally. There was a great rift between thier divisions, the use of healing and kido was the main one but he recalled hearing something about someones mother which had started a grudge match. Either way, it would certainly be different.
"So sir who would challange me when all the others lay defeated, what is your name?" He probably should have stated his own but as the challangers first test, Yorishou would see what his manners were like. They were an important aspect of battle to him, also, and he would never admit this to other 11th members. But it was just a spar. No reason to be rude.
Tatsu pointed his sword at his opponents neck, he knew it was often a psychological barrier for people, a threatening guard often prepared the field for a psychological advantage. His voice was soft and composed, his eyes were glued onto Yorishou's with vigor and determination. ''I am Tatsu Chirako, 4th division'' He said calmly. ''To whom do I owe the honors of this duel?'' He said not willing to attack before he knew who he was.
The crowd silenced as Tatsu prepared himself, of course it was all thanks to the other shinigami who gave them a right scolding. Even then, the blue reiatsu slowly covering Tatsu's body made some others jubilate, it was nothing amazing to be sure, but compared to untrained shinigami, it was close to a dream. at this point Tatsu was calculating in his mind, the length of his leg, combined with the length of his arms and zanpakuto, he even went as far as trying to figure out if the man in front of him had any visible physical handicap, after all, he is a skilled doctor. He had to make up for the possible physical drawbacks he had, he had to know this man before he himself figured Tatsu out, the first steps to the mental battlefield had been set. Who Would win this fight? He surely hoped he'd give a decent challenge!

Yorishou feined shock, his left hand going to his chest to emphesise it. He had to admire Tatsu's gall, it was textbook challanging, point your sword, try scare the opponant. But still, he had passed the manners test, and that made him worthy of taking seriously "You don't know who I am?" he smirked, bowing low. His sword tip went into the floor next to him "Well then allow me to introduce myself-" he looked up into his opponants eyes.
He 'stepped'. Turning last second and appearing behind the man while still moving sideways. From Tatsu's perspective he would be moving from his right to left behind him. Getting close and whispering "-Yorishou Kiyoshi, The Mettle Prince of the 11th division. Pleased to make your acquintance Mr. Chirako of the 4th." his blade tapping Tatsu's left shoulder (1) in a respectfull aknowledging gesture.
His feet scraping along the floor so he was a meter from Tatsu's left, facing the way Tatsu's back was. His blade went up and rested on the back of his kneck, tilting his head towards him. "Ready to dance?"
Techniques used:
(1) name: Wait for it... class: Weapon skill type: Offensive range: 100m tier: III description: Striking the opponent, but dealing no damage or impact, this ability allows Yorishou to delay an attack for up to 3 posts. Weak attacks get upgraded to tier III, stated in posts if this is used. If any remain after this time then they are automatically activated all at once. ''Always'' He said replying to the man giving him a second to think. Suddenly he whipped his body around in a powerful fashion, the way he used to attack was pretty graceful and calculated, as he twirled around to give his body inertia he took a calculated step backwards to try and land a blow with the tip of the blade only. His zanpakuto was blurring through the air as his blow was aimed towards the waist, he obviously was aiming for areas that would cause the most damage even with a grazing hit.
Sadly he didn't notice the technique used on him but now that the battle was on he wouldn't give his opponent another chance to strike like that. The students quickly went silent and started watching, turned out this flimsy 4th division member was quite gifted with a blade, they tried to watch as he blurred into motion and were quick to hope that Yorishou had met his match.
To someone facing Tatsu, it might represent a strange feeling, everything he does in a fight is a bit calculated and aimed towards the most possible dire damage dealing areas, for this attack, it was aimed at his guts, and Tatsu did it with no qualm and hesitation, he knew that even if he chopped this man's arm off, he could put it back, which made tatsu a very dangerous opponent, he didn't fear injuring, even in a friendly duel.

First strike eh. Maybe this 4th would be more fun than others realised. The man moved in a strange way, his body almost knowing what to do before he did it, must have been something to do with being a 4th. As they would need to know tactics for avaison and know how and what to do when they reached the wounded. Hm. That could make him dangerous indeed. But there was such a thing as over thinking.
He waited until the strike was near, keeping it in view until the last moment. Yorishou's blade dropped, letting it go behind his back and catching it with his left hand in time to block the hit. It was a very unnecesary show off thing to do but eh. Until the fight heated up, he was going to treat this like any of the others.
He turned on his left hand, while his left hand was blocking the mans, his right foot would lash out, aiming for the mans lower leg. Just because you are fancy with a sword does not mean you know about hand to hand. Or foot to leg. Or something. He was adamant to test this man for weaknesses, he had no idea what he had up his sleeve, least of all a shikai. And that could make this fight go very slowly if neither of them was taking damage.
Tatsu kept his focus, his blow had been stopped, but he was expecting it, he pressed his blade against the other man's in a hope to keep it pinned, or atleast, not flying around. The time for analysis was over, instinct kicked in and the battle lust, adrenaline. What would be the next move of this man, he had a few short fights before hand, maybe he'd use the start of this fight as an opportunity to see, or regain his breath.
He noticed how the man blocked his blow, it took him an instant to understand, this was now a fist to fist fight, and accordingly to his thought, he noticed the kick flying in towards his lower leg. To try and counter such a move, Tatsu quickly jumped and attempted to crash his knee underneath the man's chin, if the move worked it would have effectively dodged the blow and turned the fight into his advantage, and even perhaps free'd his blade.
He had made a point to himself to never be looked down on, he had equally trained himself in the healing ways of the 4th, and battling abilities, and this was a first test for himself, would he be able to prove to the others that the 4th division was decent, that they are equally ready to fight to save lives than the others.
The look in the shinigami's eyes didn't change, he respected the man in front of him, and even if he was on the verge of victory, he would take him just as seriously as the instant they begun fighting, Tatsu was unrelenting and Yorishou would soon learn all about it.

Yorishou barely had a second to register his own suprise. The crowd around them letting out hisses and gasps. He would not have thought an 11th could move or think that quickly. Let alone such a bold move from a 4th. Predudice aside, dayum, this guy has moves. His low kick dodged, and his other hand still blocking, he was forced to play his first card. Or risk a fractured jaw, or worse. He would have to train this guy. Yorishou had only said that because he knew none of those guys could touch him, but if this 4th won. He was almost tempted to do it anyway.
His skin turned black at a remarkable rate, spreading over him with the appearance of contagious marble. He had not meant to use such a new technique so soon but half of him joked his hand had been forced, and the other half just wanted to see how the 4th would react.
He headbutted the mans knee as it flew to his face, crunching into it forehead first but Yorishou taking no damage from it. His right hand coming up to grab the mans kimono by the chest. He leaned forwards, pushing the man over backwards in mid air and slamming him to the ground in a-superhero-landing-after-a-tall-drop pose.
Techniques used:
Name: Abyss armour Class: Hand-To-Hand Tier: III Type: Defensive Range: Self Description: The user body is covered in a flawless pitch black marble look, that spreads over him from the hands at half-bala speed. When the user strikes or is striked by an object of equal or lower tier, it turns to black marble, and shatters into a natural form of it, not harming the user. The objects include but are not limited to walls, techs, and rolling boulders. Effect does not work against race items(zans, sealed dolls, quincy crosses etc), NPCs or OCs without OOC permission. Tech can be used as a base defensive(just blocks damage up to the tier) against melee, long ranged and h2h attacks. Lasts three posts.
Tatsu had expected pain, but not on his end. The surprise on his face was obvious for a moment but he had learned, he wouldn't do it again not in this fashion he had to learn the limitations of this ability sooner or later anyway. He had lost his momentum and the man in front of him didn't wait any further to pursue his continuation, the man had grabbed him by his kimono, by the time it took for Tatsu to have his second foot on the ground he was already falling, he was being propelled by the might of this guy, but he had a plan.
He freed the man's zanpakuto from his own and slightly diverted the tip of his blade to place it against his skin, placing his arm in a fashion that if Tatsu completely fell to the ground with the man leaning over him in a 'Superhero-landing-after-a-tall-drop pose' he'd stab himself with his own strength, and if allowed he had pointed his blade against the man's liver and started pushing with his own strength.
If all this fancy swordplay didn't work, he would probably try to shunpo away, because being in such a situation with a man over him wasn't something he specially enjoyed!

Yorishou looked down, suprised at the quick thinking of the 4th. With his zan there he was unable to force him down anymore. But it did not do any damage against his marble skin either, in fact, if the opponants sword stayed there. The hilt would either be forced into the ground or into the 4th himself.
'wait for it' activated, unable to hold the delayed hit any longer. This would cause a tier III strike to occur to the mans left shoulder where he had tapped him before. Yorishou stabbed his zan into the ground as it was no longer used for a block. This was becoming a brawl on the floor and that is not how a fight is meant to go. At least not a dignified one. His right hand went out to the side to maintain balance and prepare for the following.
He ran his hand down the other mans zan, right along the sharp edge down as far as he coukd reach without feeling any pain. Grabbing the blade tightly and looking the 4th dead in the eyes he smiled, probably looking more creepy than friendly in his current marble state. "You are going to have to try harder than that. I am not some hollow you can trick with fancy moves. You have no push. No force. This is what the 4th teaches you? You cannot spend the whole fight trying to turn my attacks against me, that will never work. You need to attack me, not just defend yourself with caution. Put yourself into the fight, pour yourself into it. Feel the battle fury and use it to strengthen your resolve. Only then can you match me." gonna be honest. He had no idea what he was talking about. But it seemed general 11th practice to make a fighting speech and hope it riles the other guy.
He snatched his hand away, 'stepping' backwards and grabbing his zan on the way. He stopped 10m from the 4th and waited silenty for him to stand, his sword tip in the ground and both hands resting on the base. The crowd were watching with anticipation. A few mutterings and sniggerings started aimed at the 4th. But were quickly silenced by the 11th members that had started coming in. A Yorishou fight was normally fun, but when the word got out he was fighting a decent 4th. Well you can imagine every dropped what they were doing and ran.
Techniques used:
(1) name: Wait for it... class: Weapon skill type: Offensive range: 100m tier: III description: Striking the opponent, but dealing no damage or impact, this ability allows Yorishou to delay an attack for up to 3 posts. Tatsu understood at this point that the ability this man used was still going, but for how long he thought, now he was in a bad situation, he looked at the man looming over him, the tip of his zanpakuto's tip clearly against the man's 'flesh' but it didn't seem to harm him, the only thing preventing the man from crushing him with the mass of his body.
Tatsu looked at the man smiling man who told him to try harder, it made Tatsu think about his situation, and thats when he noticed it. The man was looking at him, eye to eye, that was it! His whole body was covered in a barrier that could not be pierced, but there he was looking at him with his own eyes, the 4th squadder didn't allow himself that he had found this hint, he saw the man's hand slide down the length of his blade. ''The 4th teaches me to reach you guys in a dire fight, but I'm not done yet!'' He said with conviction. ''The 4th teaches me to fight after losing an arm and not caring, knowing I can stitch it back'' As soon as his blade was released, he 'Stepped' away about 10 meters away from his opponent, blade in hand staring at him dead in the eyes. His shoulder was hurting like crazy, the burning feeling of his body reaction to air against its inner muscles and sending it back to his brain telling him that 'ow this hurts'.
So he looked at the man, and he planned his strike, he started advancing towards him at great speed, at first his blade was low, he tried to fool his enemy into thinking he would attack his body again, at greater speed and strength, but that's where the ruse came in. At the last possible moment, he raised the tip of his blade and tried to dig it deep into his opponents eye. He did all this with no regard for his personal safety, meaning that he did no block any incoming blow, and probably tried to make way for his own using his own body as cover, trying to connect his blow to the man's eye.
He put his bet on the fact that the man in front of him would not expect such a bold move in a friendly duel such as this one, and more and more members of many divisions were coming in, and Tatsu didn't want someone -important- showing up, that could be terrible, he'd hate to have himself turned down from the division because he got into a needless fight.
Post by Yorishou Kiyoshi on Jun 7, 2016 12:50:32 GMT
"Losing an arm and not caring..." Yorishou muttered to himself buf loud enough that others could overhear. "That sounds like a reckless way to fight." He watched as the man rushed him. Wondering why he was not 'stepping' towards him. This was not guerilla warfare, this was gorilla warfare. He obviously got the gist but this was...Not what he meant. Talk about in for a penny in for a pound.
As the man got close Yorishou started speaking like a teacher. Patient and slightly scolding "You will never-" the mans sword raised in an obvious attack, no element of suprise, a plain jab at his eyes. Now this was a bit of a realisation for Yorishou as he noticed himself that his eyes were the flaw in this form. Making a mental note to practice stances that protect the face. Leaving his zan in the ground in front of him.
He knocked the mans sword to the side with his left hand. "-hit me-" Pulling it towards him, followed by the man. "-like-" he released the mans sword and punched him in the face, his right foot curling behind the 4ths to make him trip and his right hand pushing the 4ths chest. "-that." slowly standing up straight, he had not moved at all. Hands going back onto the base of his sword.
"What was that? I said pour yourself into the fight" his skin melted back to normal, no more black marble on him. "Do not try to fight like an 11th. That requires a bloodlust and battle fury that you simply cannot replicate. Charging me headfirst, no protecting your own body, that can only be done if you have my defensive ability." He crouched to the man if he was still on the floor. Or tapped the bottom on his sword if the man was standing. "Figure out what you can do, and work with that. You can heal yourself, but that means nothing if you cannot win the fight and be alive to heal yourself."
"Now. Show me what you can do. No more tricks, keep your guard up. Use your shunpo." And for a final 11th signature war cry to rile the 4th he screamed "MAKE ME BLEED!" Grabbing his zan and holding it in front of him wide spread legs, his reiatsu bursting out and charging at the 4th.
Tatsu expected the man to see through his attack, but he didn't expect a counter attack like he did, his face hurt, his back hurt, and his chest hurt even move, god damnit that man was strong, and by this point the shinigami didn't feel like fighting on, but he tried to get up and step away from the man, he couldn't allow him to get close and fight with his hands anymore, he'd overpower Tatsu and well, that'd look bad to the ladies around. Tatsu took a dose of reality as he looked around, there were a bunch of people watching him fight now, he couldn't let this finish already, he had to get something through atleast, he didn't want to look like an idiot in front of everyone. The daze from the multiple punches finally ended as the other shinigami started dashing towards him.
Tatsu dropped in his stance, a well rounded stance, and he judged the man's movement and he'd attempt at shunpo'ing right in front of him as he was half step, and if allowed he'd swing his blade towards his neck, if he had been right, he was standing at a point where the tip of his blade would reach the man, hopefully far enough for him to not counter with his fists. He expected some kind of counter though, and if he was right, it would be with a blade, and he prepared himself to counter that too, carefully positioning his body in a way that being attacked by fist or feet would be a foolish idea. He wanted to try and see if his swordsmanship was on par with the man's.
He wanted to injure the man so much, he wanted to show what he had, and as of yet, he had nothing for show, he had to step it up, and his strong suit was swordplay.
Post by Yorishou Kiyoshi on Jun 7, 2016 18:10:56 GMT
Yorishou watched with amusement as the 4th tried a new fighting style. He wondered if this guy had ever been in a fight before, he did not have any style, any pose or signature. Nothing that showed previous experiance or even reflexes. Curious. Perhaps this was meant to start that road.
As the blade whistled towards him, yorishou stepped backwards slightly. The is what he meant, this tip of the sword stuff. There is no impact, no conviction and all too easy to dodge. He had not even needed shunpo, he literally just stepped backwards slightly.
His blade coming up lazily behind the mans to knock it further in the direction it was already going. "What was that? In what universe was that going to hit me?" His blade sparked along the mans, coming off just before the gaurd. He stepped into the mans stance, hitting him on the head with the hilt of his sword the 'stepping' a further 10m backwards. "Now! Attack me! Make me feel threatened!"
Seeing the man step inside his guard, that was somewhat what Tatsu wanted to happen, the man countered by stepping backwards. It took no time for him to bring his sword back around and swing Tatsu's sword away, but Tatsu had a plan, and he hoped it would work. He quickly side stepped outside of the man's hilt smash, and as he shunpo'd Tatsu followed, and before he started talking, he started attacking as best as he could. He started with a sound sword slash to the throat, and hopefully before he reacted, Tatsu would spin on the ball of his feet, as he lowered his stance as he attempted to chain another hit to the man's leg.
Hopefully that was good enough to get the man warmed up, but Tatsu wasn't done with the surprises, he'd try to shunpo behind the man, and thrust his sword right into the man's spine with all of his might. Now Tatsu was going at the best he could, flash steps mixed with his swordsmanship he hoped it would be enough to get the man going, but he sure as hell won't stop to find out! At this point Tatsu hoped that his sudden increase in velocity had worked to put the man off balance, but from this point on he would accelerate, attacking the man more and more.

The first hit was obvious. It was dodged by just leaning backwards quickly, the second caught him off guard. He had become lazy and sloppy with the previous attacks. The blade cutting through his kimono as he jumped. It sailed under his legs, narrowly missing his feet, his sword came down when he was secure but the man had already gone. Now this was certainly different, it could almost have been called a tactic if it were not so sloppy.
The 4th appeared behind him, he could sense every foot of the man and especially his sword. His own blade swung behind him in a sharp, confident movement. It would bat the mans strike aside (your blade would be hit to your right) before he spun around and slashes at the mans chest from (Yorishou's perspective) right to left. "Now thats more like it!" a gleam could be seen in his eye for a second.
Anyone who has fought or seen an 11th fight, will be familiar with this gleam. It was the gleam, of battle lust. And he had almost got it from that second the 4th showed possible promise. But he would need to fight a lot harder to bring it out fully.
Tatsu wouldn't stop to think, the fight was raging, his sword blow had been deflected to the right, but instead of forcing against it, Tatsu spun on the ball of his foot and quickly crashed his sword against the man's who had been aiming for the left side of his body. Quickly the 4th twisted his blade and tried to dig deep inside the other man's defend by sliding his blade along side his and trying to hack at his shoulder.
His shoulder was still in pain though, that didn't help him at all with forcing his strength down, but that wouldn't be stopping him from going. He expected the other man to try and prevent Tatsu from hacking his shoulder, and what that opposed force came, Tatsu would retire all his strength to try and off balance the man and attempt a round house kick to the side of the man's face using the heel of his foot, if that connected it would be good enough to ring a bell or two hopefully.
Atr this point the 4th didn't notice people looking around, of course the 11th squad members who had showed up were cheering for the man, but by this point there were even some 4th who had showed up, keeping quiet looking at the situation, yep, Tatsu would be in shit for this.

Yorishou countered the sword twist by rotating his own upwards, taking the 4ths sword up as well. He smirked, it was a slight attack. Almost backhanded. He really did hate these sword twisting fights, the wrong move could actually get him hit. He was skilled at them. But he still hates them.
The mans mistake was taking his foot up right after a delicate attack. His own left foot shot out, snapping the man in the knee then in his chest. Pushing the mans sword backwards during his unbalancwd state on one leg. He would then continuously hack at his sword, jumping up and delivering a series of kicks to his chest before landing in a roll.
If the 4th wanted to fight with feet, he had a lot more suprises in store. It had been a close call a second ago, staying close like that was bound to end badly for someone. But it showed the 4th was improving, it showed he was learning. He wondered just how long they would fight before the 4th figured out Yorishous weakness.
Tatsu flew almost a meter away as the serie of kicks were delivered onto his chest, his did his best to keep the enemy's sword at bay with his own and actually trying to throw himself out of the man's range using his strength, it was tedious work and he was paying hell for his mistake. Landing on his side on the ground, he quickly got back up, using his scabbard as a helping hand, looking down, he looked at his scabbard, and thought that this might give him the edge.
He initiated his strike again, going strong for the man's sword arm's elbow, as if trying to chop his arm in half, it was only possible because they were so close, but it was something he wanted to try, as the first blow made its way to connect, he used his second hand to emulate a sword slash to the man's sight, trying to blind him from the continuing combo. It didn't take too long before the twirly fighting style came back, as the second strike moved to end his strike, Tatsu used the momentum to try and move away from the man, to end up fighting in a better position than he had been a moment before.
This was the only way Tatsu had find to accelerate even more, he enjoyed fast paced battle more than anything and it was something he envisioned and the only way to possibly achieve faster, was using two hands, and so he used them, using his sword as his guard and his scabbard as a secondary weapon, of course, one of the goal was to keep his scabbard intact, he didn't want the thing chopped in half, being a reason he used it as a secondary weapon.
