Lori knew that there was a hollow nearby, not due to her direct reiatsu sense or seeing or hearing it; but instead due to the fact that she could feel her emotions draining, as if someone had pulled the plug on her brain. Her movements became more automatic and she could feel the innate programming of her soul overtaking the inclination of her personality. This was mostly problamatic due to the fact that she was walking home with friends after badminton practice. She let out a high pitched squeak and the others turned, to see her holding her skirt strangely. They asked her the matter, concerned, and she told them it appeared to have snagged- and she was having a wardrobe malfunction. They looked worried but she assured them she'd catch them up when she'd sorted it out, and ducked quickly around the corner. Easy peasy. She vaulted several fences and climbed up onto the roof of an outhouse and saw the scene in a small courtyard.
The hollow was... Chasing butterflies? They were huge and black. Lori searched her memory banks briefly and recognized them as Jigokucho. Why so many of them here? And moreover, why was the hollow chasing them. It appeared to be snapping at them, eating them one by one. Regardless, there was little time to question it any more. She sprinted around the buildings, before leaping down upon the creature's back. It let out a scream of rage, but it was cut swiftly short by the earth-shattering reverse heel spin that Lori delivered to its head, completely shattering its mask as its head crumpled into gore. The butterflies flapped away as Lori rode the hollow's body to the floor, and she felt her facilities return to her. Her gigai was intact this time, thankfully- it wasn't always when she fought hollows but the presence of the jigokucho was a mystery. Could she intercept their message?
The small boy had been dealing with many disturbances as the butterflies known as jigokucho were flying rampantly instead of as intended. He encountered several hollows as he was sidestepping several randomly aimed cero blasts as he made his way towards the location he was needed in. He was about to take out the hollow that flew over him, but then some strange girl just gave it a kick to the face and it came crashing down as she rode its body. The girl had a look to her that told him she was definitely not a shinigami as the winds picked up as a menos came through a hole in the sky as he did not understand this chaos. Who was doing this and why did they want to disrupt the butterflies under his care, as he looked at the girl the menos was clearly a Gillian class that began charging up a huge cero as the boy sighed.
He faced the palm of his hand towards the large gigantic creature as he whispered those words. "Ye Lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! The scorched Earth bears the mark of your bane. The demon waits at the end of the twisted halls of pandemonium, eyes filled with furor, in the torrents of Hell!" as the menos just finished its charge the boy finished his chant
"Hadō #48 Onkyō Shakkahō" The cero blast was huge and got countered with an even bigger blast of crimson red flames which took out the Gillian as it burst into flames before being completely destroyed as the butterflies flew towards the boy surrounding him as he looked to them.

Lorietka's eyes widened. Just as she killed the hollow, she felt the presence of another, high above. She looked up and a Gillian-class menos appeared through the gap in the gaping hole above. A garganta. She mustered her strength, and wondered if she could even make such a jump- realizing that she could in fact probably use her gravity powers to propel her up there. Thankfully though it seemed she would not even need to; someone else came dispatched the beast with a kido as she prepared to transform, and leap up. She was initially relieved but the relief soon vanished, and was replaced by abject horror. It was a shinigami. Getting involved in such affairs, as her programming mandated, would lead her to have to interact with them sooner or later. She gulped as the admittedly small shinigami managed to fire off a kido that completely neutralized the rather impressive looking Cero of the menos-grande.
The jigokucho crowded the boy. She wondered if, perhaps, there was scope for her to slip away unnoticed. But something different welled up in her. The gillian now gone, and the area totally free of hollows, she began to retain some of her agency. Instead of wanting to protect this shinigami, she wanted to destroy him. He was one of the ones, a member of the organization that committed genocide against her people. She stood, torn, watching him with crossed arms and a look of ire upon her face. This boy was probably younger than her, he might not even have known for christ's sake! He probably hadn't even been born and already Lori was so ready to hate him. She sighed as her arms dropped to her sides. If he recognized what she was, doubtless he would have to try and kill her. But maybe he wouldn't recognize her- had he ever even seen a modified soul before?
The boy stood before the girl as the air around them changed as a sadness seemed to reach the air as a few butterflies fell dead to the floor as the boy looked down with sadness in his eyes. The boy was so close to bursting into tears as he raised them like a father raising his son, like a mother who loved her child very much, as a guardian over the world of butterflies the pain he felt could never be understood by outsiders.
With a some what muffled voice that nearly seemed to sound like he was about to cry. "Hi, I am Aoi Sora, a shinigami. I know you might not even know or understand what I am, but you know that we can not let these monsters run wild. Before any more lives are lost, would you help me save them? Please" as he pleaded to the girl.
He had lost his family, his sister, and somewhere in time he had even lost himself. He could not afford to lose anymore in this world, he met this strange girl and did not really care what she was. She protected the butterflies and so protected his family. For that she was a comrade in arms and a friend until proven otherwise.

"Uuuuuuuhm..." Lori said, trailing off. The gears ticked in her mind. He seemed to be absolutely clueless as to what she was, which worked in her favour. All the same she didn't really fancy helping this kid chase butterflies... She kind of had more important things to be doing. Especially as he was a shinigami. But he was quite cute, and he asked nicely so she supposed that it wouldn't hurt to play along.
"Well there's no more hollows. So what exactly do you need help with?" she inquired. She didn't want to tell him that she knew what shinigami were. As far as she knew, regular old humans couldn't even see spirits like him, which should have immediately marked her as incredibly suspicious but all Aoi seemed to care about were his butterflies. Probably his superior would chew him out for fucking up if he didn't get the butterflies back together; Loretka could appreciate that. She'd had her fair share of summer jobs where it had been exactly the same for her too.
"Do you have, well, a butterfly net or something maybe we could use?" she asked him with a smile. "It would be much easier to capture them that way!"
The girl made the boy feel even more sad as his aura an expression looked beyond gloomy as she gave that 'uhm' like thinking sound that normally meant they either knew something important or had no idea. She said there were no more hollows and that he should tell her what he needs help with as he looked to her his eyes looking like his heart was breaking as his hands began shaking. She did not know what he was and she did not even understand the grave situation they were in, perhaps she did not even have the ability to sense hollows in the first place and merely saw one and reacted.
She mentioned a butterfly net as severe horror struck him as she even smiled and spoke about capturing them like that, he had gotten strict on the gophers who look after the butterflies as some used the nets violently which damaged their small little wings as he would seek help from the forth division to deal with this recklessness. Not using a net made things difficult as the gophers would sometimes refer to the small boy as the Spartan of Butterflies.
"Please, do not speak of them like that" as the butterflies began gathering towards the small boy as a sadness filled the air attracting a few low level hollows that simply stopped at some point recognising a darkness within the boy that they were no match for as they backed away.

Gee, this kid was weird. Lori didn't really get this obsession other teenagers had with being "weird" or "strange" or "special". In some ways she guessed she was special and it wasn't all it was cut out to be. She spent her whole life attempting to fit in as best she could, perhaps out of a repressed fear that being different would make her a target, as it had for the shinigami. Aoi didn't seem to like the idea of capturing butterflies with a net, however, and seemed to get irrationally upset at it. So much so that his reiatu started flaring, which made her widen her eyes in surprise. She felt several hollows nearby, and her programming started to tick back towards extermination mode, away from free-will mode.
"Aoi, no! You have to control your reiatsu. You're drawing hollows to us." she cautioned. While many shied away, not all of them were so careful, and she turned around in just enough time to deliver another earth-shattering kick. She was stronger now; just as strong as this shinigami, it seemed. Many hollows meant very little to beings of their strength, even Menos were within their grasp to defeat. The hollows were still prowling around, they had to be cautious not to exert their reiatsu too harshly.
"Come Mr. Soul Reaper. How are we supposed to gather the Jigokucho? Can you call them to you? Maybe I could watch your back while you find them and gather them." she suggested, unsure of how else to go about this.
The boy looked even more sad as her ditsy nature reminded him of another ditsy girl known as Mori who he nicknamed Squid girl since her zanpakuto releases ink. As he realised he was attracting some hollows he felt a bit more sad as he felt he was being careless. He was not in a good mood right now and he even remembered something going horribly wrong on his one vacation day he had. The boy listened to her offer assistance as he thought it was a bit strange that she did not seem too curious about him as he looked to her a bit confused before speaking.
"I guess, do you have a name?" as his nature seemed less imposing as the hell butterflies landed on his back while he was thinking as a few more hollows got curious approaching closer and closer before a large tear like a rift began to open in the sky as it began to attract the butterflies as the boy glared at the opening as he changed his reiatsu as the butterflies turned back towards him and were circling as he looked to the girl.

"Yeah!" she responded chirpily. "My name's Lori-ohhh uhh" she floundered, not sure she wanted to tell him her real name, "Lauren. Lauren Ronin!" If Aoi knew what her name was he might work out that she was a modified soul and that he was under mandate to kill her. She noticed the hollows approaching and her eyes widened. She focused her reiatsu and noticed them getting closer. Damn... She didn't want to have to do this but it seemed as though there was no other choice right now. She pulled her energy from inwards, and suddenly there was a blinding flash. She spun, dazzling in midair, as her drab school uniform was transformed into the racy outfit of long white boots, a ruffled skirt, and a crop-topped, tank top blouse. Finally, a pair of goggled materialized upon her head. She pulled a thumbs up at Aoi, her transformation complete.
"Sounds like a plan, you get the butterflies... I'll deal with these hollows!" she told him, before launching herself into the air, so that she could see the monsters around her. Hopefully she would be able to buy Aoi enough time to get the Jigokucho away from the hollows... She wasn't sure why she was helping this shinigami anyway, but she was committed now. "Alright you freaks, take a load of this!" she cried, and released a huge wave of gravitational energy. The hollows found themselves drawn towards her, flying through the air and screaming with the unexpected motion.
As the first one neared her, she struck it, her arm acting like a horrific buzz saw, completely severing its head and messily parting one arm from its shoulder. It fell down below as another hollow reached out to grab her, but found its very hand torn to shreds. She used her gravitational telekinesis to launch it into the ground at speed, with a large shout of exertion. There seemed to be two left, and they were resisting the force that pulled them toward her. She buzzed as the air around her shifted in currents with her every movement, signifying the huge tidal forces around her skin. She looked towards Aoi, to see how he was doing.
{Notes and Errata}Name: Gravitational Telekinesis Class: Soul Release Tier: III Type: Offensive/Defensive Range: 30m Description: Loretka is able to apply gravitational fields in order to generate constant forces upon any person or object within this technique's range. She can make things move at speeds of up to half the speed of a bala.
Name: The Equivalence Principle Class: Soul Release Tier: II Type: Supplementary/Passive Range: 50m Description: This technique uses Einstein's equivalence principle; which states that a gravitational field is indistinguishable from a uniform acceleration. Opponents within 50m of Loretka will find themselves slowed by a 2x speed debuff relative to her, however against other opponents within the AoE they won't be affected.
Name: Tidal Forces Class: Soul Release Tier: III Type: Offensive Range: Self Description: Loretka can increase the force of gravity on herself to high levels, and is easily able to withstand it. The result of this increase is that opponents find themselves drawn to her gravitationally while this technique is active, which is not especially difficult to overcome. However the true power of this technique is that being struck or even touched by Loretka will cause ripping wounds, as a result of the tidal forces applied upon the opponent. The wounds are messy and painful and are capable of causing severe damage to nerves and even bones depending on the opponents' advantages relative to Loretka.
The girl seemed to hesitate with her own name, was she really that clueless as to how things worked and whatever it was she finally gave him her name. Lauren Ronin which sounded like a really strange name, as a swarm of hollows began converging she seemed a bit strong for a human as he wondered whether there was something wrong with this town to begin with. Why so many super humans though he only had seen a handful that was already a lot considering how he felt about it. He did encounter the dangerous and deadly ribbon user Liam, which was basically what he knew about the target having needed to give another report at a later stage even though he spotted the guy on his vacation days.
He was watching her fend off the hollows as he directed the butterflies towards another location in order to communicate to other locations and to get them out of here he pressured the butterflies with his reiatsu and due to their training they scattered towards other shinigami which would most likely keep most of them safe since he could not go all out with them here. Then a hollow burst from underground and started grinning. "Hi delicious ..."
As the boy stood there the hollow split in half as the boy was watching the girl with curiousity as his blade was now in his left hand as he was busy tugging on his hair and fidgeting with his right hand. He was now a bit playful as a few of the other hollows tried backing away he got a bit closer to keep an eye on the girl as the hollows thought they were safe.
"Hadō #33 Sōkatsui"
as they cried out burnt away in the blue flames of his kido as he kept his eyes on the strange girl Lauren

She saw Aoi send the butterflies away to safety. Good, that meant that they wouldn't have to worry about them any more. A hollow had tried to attack him but he'd dealt with it swiftly; he was a shinigami, after all. He couldn't be that incompetent. Suddenly, the hollows that were near her as a Hado Kido incinerated them. Loretka's sensors flooded her brain with information about kido and Hado 33 which she impatiently buzzed away, intent to focus on Aoi. She came and landed beside him, frills and ruffles flapping due to the sudden rush of air of her descent. She felt much more stable with her gravity control powers now, so her landing was smooth, almost florid, or ostentatious.
"Hey, uuh nice one Aoi-kun!" she said with a smile. She realized that her friends had most likely gotten much further ahead by now and she'd have a tough time catching up as was. Perhaps, the Jigokucho safely gone, now was the time to make her mistake, before the shinigami started asking questions. "Anyways I had better run, I'm super late to meet my friends!" she cried, not entirely dishonestly, and snatched her canvas messenger bag up from the floor, shouldering it by the strap, and dashing off, still clad in her ridiculous but simultaneously quite impressive Soul Release outfit, hoping beyond all hope that the young shinigami wouldn't follow her.
She said he did a good job in her way that was still too ditsy as she seemed to have one of those smiles that was either really genuine or all an act. He was a bit too worried right now to figure it out as she said that she better run since she is late to meet her friends as she grabbed her bag which looked really nice, but not quite the style Aoi liked since he actually had a small cat paws backpack he got in one of the earth shops due to him nearly ending up being put in a school. Though some shinigami members did some degree of mind wiping on the family who nearly adopted him as they told him to follow the usual and set up an identity within this world.
She was being a bit reckless as the boy flash stepped to block her path as he held out both arms to his sides in a fashion once used on a show the small boy never watched. It had this boy with sharp eyes and hair that rose up on the occasion as Aoi stood blocking her path as he spoke slightly more serious.
"Be careful" as the boy sensed as much as he could before lowering his arms as he looked down.
"Want to play at the arcade some time Lori?" as he blushed before looking to the side "Or must I call you Lauren-san?"

Lori was presently trying to run off, to catch up with her friends where she could make some easy excuse for quite why she was dressed in the ridiculous way she was. Lori was a popular girl at school, so she could often get away with occasionally doing strange things and people would just brush it off. Aoi, it seemed, had other ideas. She skidded to a halt. That teleporting thing again! Dammit, why was everyone able to just instantly move from one place to another? She felt a little out of the loop, not to mention worried that she might not be able to escape. She had so much to learn... To learn about herself, her powers, and the other spiritual beings around her.
He was in front of her now, arms outstretched. He issued her a warning. Her heart thudded in her artificial chest. What? She'd helped him... Maybe he had now realized what she was, and was going to turn on her. She couldn't allow that to happen. She felt an incredibly intense dissonance as she felt two sides of herself at war deep within. She wanted to flex her fighting reflexes, prepare for escape if she needed to, but her circuitry was fighting her. It wouldn't let her do harm to a shinigami. She cursed herself, and wondered if she'd be able to overcome it.
"No Aoi, you should be careful." she told him, her demeanor growing suddenly cold. "Lauren is just fine. Now let me pass. I have to go and find my friends, I have lots of class work to do and have no time for silly games." she told him firmly, with a cold flintiness in her eyes. "Maybe when our finals are over we can go to the Arcade." she said, in an attempt to mollify him.
He did not understand why, but that moment in time had hurt the boy sharp like the sharp edged edge of a sharp butter knife, slicing warmly through him like he was warm butter melting in the sun. At first what she said was threatening, but upon thinking about it the truth was far more painful to bare.
Like a pride of lions they were at a stand still as if she had issued a challenge. He simply told her to be careful as in she needed to watch her back since it was dangerous, but then she said it was him that had to be careful as if issuing a warning that she was challenging him. However what she said and her actions did not match, his feelings were hurt when she insulted his games and called them silly. She also was so eager to get away from him, since she would clearly not risk the lives of her friends over simple homework or even an exam.
There was only one thing that made sense at that moment as he looked down as tears rolled down his cheeks, he had came here for his vacation when the butterflies were attacked. He lost the butterflies and now he met a girl and she hated him as he spoke in a sad half muffled crying tone
"Why do humans hate shinigami?"
As the boy thought back to that guy, Liam who had tried to steal their weapons and even attempted to capture him with magical ribbons. Why did humans hate them so much.

Now he was crying. Oh jeez this was just great. Usually she was a sucker for that, such a cute little boy crying. But she'd not been given a chance to cry when all of the modsouls had been killed. When she lived in fear that she too would be discovered and exterminated just the same by shinigami just like Aoi. She was losing patience and wanted to be out of there as soon as she could as the kid started bawling. Why couldn't she just live a normal life like a normal teenage girl!?
"Why don't you try asking a human?" she blurted out without thinking. Uh-oh that did it. She really was in trouble this time. She activaed her gravity powers and drew all of the dust in the air and ground around them up into a sphere as large as she could, acting like a smokescreen so that she could escape without Aoi being able to stop her, dashing away hoping the dust would get in his eyes and mouth as an added distraction. All she wanted was to get away and live a normal life. She couldn't defend herself against him; her programming was simply too strong.
She said something she should not have, she said she was not human as the look on his face changed. "You not human?" as he had a confused look in his eyes. Then she created a ball of dust as he defended himself by covering his eyes with his arm and then jumping high up into the air as he saw her trying to get away as he used shunpo to cut her off as he blocked her path with a more serious look in his eyes.
"If you run away, I can not let you go." as he knew that on patrols finding unidentifiable strong presences meant they had to investigate or at the very least learn enough to determine whether they were a threat. Currently he was told to avoid the quincy Liam who was so strong it was unbelievable to him. If she was a quincy she would use those strange ribbons or have some strange bow is what he thought. However she was not a quincy and not a human then what on earth could she be is what he was wondering.
As long as he got enough info on her he could leave her be and with her powers she might also be attracting more hollows here which would make her a threat at the same time. He still did not fully understand all these things, but he knew his duty
