"Ha, well that's an odd way to word that question. Um well," Gage rubs his head as he tries to concider his answer. He hasn't really thought about it before. For the most part he liked to imagine that he was a nice guy but in reality he didn't involve himself in the comings and goings of the wrest of the world. "I suppose I like to think that I do it for others but this particular job is for the money. While I am working for the company its about the income but if I am out in public its for whoever needs the help." Before he was working for the company he used to wander the city, finding any spiritual beings that he could and help where he could. Perhaps this has become more of a job than it was supposed to be.
"Back when I was first doing this, before the company and everything, I was doing it for the knowledge. I wanted to know everything, while I was helping others of course, but it was the knowledge that kept pushing me forward. You can always save some ones life a few times but at the end of the day they can always find themselves back in that same frying pan all over again. My goal was to find out how to teach everyone to protect themselves and make them strong enough to defend themselves. Recently though I have found that a lot of people are not very good at accepting the reality of their life. So I have taken it to the next level. I have started building the equipment that these people would need to do it, that though requires money and resources. So I find myself spending a good deal of time working for this company collecting parts to get the next important piece of what ever it is that I am working on."
Gage had not really put it into words before, almost everyone that he has ever been with has only ever wanted to justify their actions, prove to themselves that they are right in their motivations so conversation on what motives are generally does not come up. "Maybe in the long run I can teach a few people to teach others how to defend themselves.

To say that Kvothe was surprised by the Gage's intentions would have been a lie; after listening to and experiencing the danger surrounding his Fullbring, Kvothe expected nothing less than a commendable goal. No, it wasn't the task that surprised Kvothe it was the undertaking; even with a large organization backing him, it was ludicrous to even imagine a world where the people could protect themselves. Humanity was too stubborn and society was too blind. There were very few people who did this out of the kindness of their hearts. Even Kvothe wasn't entirely selfless when it came to this job; though he hadn't admitted it to Gage, protecting humanity when no one else would was only part of his motivation. The other part was embedded within revenge. The Hollow that killed his father had never been killed as far as he knew...becoming a hunter was the easiest way to gain the resources necessary to track a Hollow. Kvothe let his mind wander too far, though, and quickly returned to the conversation at hand.
"That's a lofty goal, friend. Do you think you're capable? Do you think humanity is capable? Most of them can't even see ghosts not to mention Hollows," Kvothe looked Gage in the eye as he sat on a more centralized bed, "could backfire horribly as well...there're cruel and fearsome things in this world...people included." Kvothe thought back to his distrust of the monster than Gage had become earlier as he finished his sentence.
It was dark where Viktor was. He made sure to stay in the shadows as was his specialty. A loud cracking was in Viktor's ear. 'Bzzz....the hollow is around. The humans have dispatched a group to deal with it. We do not believe that they are capable to deal with the hollow. You know what your job is correct?' Vikto sighed through his mask and touched the communicator in his ear. "Yes I understand. Cleanse the hollow and gather information on the group of humans. This isn't my first mission." Viktor waited for a response. 'Bzzz...We know Viktor, but as I said. The mission is the same. Do not do anything unnecessary.'
"Understood." Viktor took the communicator out of his ear, for now it wasn't needed. Viktor started hopping between rooftops at a speed that most couldn't match. That was when he heard the roar, it echoed through his body. A shiver being sent down his spine. 'What the hell was that just now?' Viktor stopped where he was and went back to where he heard the roar come from. There he saw what appeared to be a hollow contained in a...bubble? And another human...controlling the bubble? Viktor sat in the shadows between two buildings and watched as the hollow slowly became more human, until he was a human again. 'My mission is to find the hollow, but this...this needs to be noted.' Viktor watched as the two men started to walk away. Viktor followed them all the way to a bunker.
"These humans are so peculiar." Viktor waited and rang back in to Command. "No answer..." Viktor mumbled quietly to himself. It couldn't be helped, he needed to make sure that these two weren't a danger to him, themselves, or others. Viktor took a deep breath and waited until he assumed it had been long enough and they had went to sleep. Viktor walked up to the bunker, not worried about doors. He was a spiritual being after all. Viktor strode up to where he figured the sleeping rooms would be and walked through the wall.
Gage knew the hardships that he would have to bear with this task. The biggest one that he can think of being that he has to figure out some way to either bring the entire world in on the secret world of spirits. That was no small task and one that he has not shared with many people. If the corporation were to find out that he had plans to spiritually awaken EVERYONE so that they are no longer koy fish in a pond where the hollows fish they would undoubtedly disagree with his plan. His success would mean that the world as a whole would need the company less, using their own powers to solve their issues and no longer hiring from Polarity. "In all reality I am not capable. Not yet at least. But I will be, and when I get everything that I need to change the world then the world is going to have to be ready too. I am done watching innocent lives get toyed with just because they do not have the ability to defend themselves."
Gage did not like this part of his plan, he never did. Some souls out there, hard set in their ways, would rather have not believed in the existence in spirits but the bliss in ignorance is no way to live. He would force their hands and they would have to figure out how to live with it. Some times it was up to the more hardheaded man to make the hard decisions and Gage was like iron. "Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. People are always going to be bad," it goes over his head entirely that Kvothe was talking about him,"and sometimes they are never going to change but its the job of everyone out there that is capable to step in and make a difference."

Kvothe nodded slowly as Gage spoke, it was an admirable undertaking but Kvothe could not say he agreed with it completely; as he'd told Gage, there are cruel and fearsome things in this world. In the moment his mind had flashed to the monster from earlier, but that wasn't and wouldn't be the only qualm Kvothe had about waking everyone spiritually. There were people, maybe even some at Polarity, that would not flinch at the prospect of using the kind of power necessary to do something of that magnitude for their own gain. Moreover, there was Polarity itself to worry about; despite how they marketed themselves as protectors they were a business after all, people like Gage and Kvothe just tools to help them advance. It was a cynical way to view things, but it was how Kvothe viewed all businesses. If they tried to go against them in any way it could end badly. Kvothe opened his mouth to relay his thoughts, but ended up shouting "Vortice!" instead. A figure was coming through the wall, it's garb baffled Kvothe and it appeared to carry a sword. It couldn't have been a Hollow considering there were wards covering the entirety of the bunker, but...it couldn't have been a human either considering they were bound by the laws of physics...mostly.
"Gage, any idea what the hell that is?" Kvothe didn't like to swear, but after spending copious amounts of time in contact with Americans it sometimes jumped out of him Kvothe looked the thing in the eyes awaiting a response from either it or Gage while keeping his fingers aimed at the figure.
Viktor hated walking through walls sometimes, it was still weird and uncomfortable. Right as Viktor finished walking through the wall, he heard someone shout at him. In a trained, fluid motion, he drew both of his swords. He stood there, staring at the two humans and Viktor was completely confused. 'It's late, they should be sleeping. I don't need to fight them. Why are they still up?' Viktor felt these thoughts fly through his mind at a rapid speed. He dared not take his eyes off the two humans before him, the only way to scope his surroundings was to stall and push out his reiatsu little by little until he knew the lay of the place he was in.
"I am VIktor, a Shinigami. I am from the Gotei Thirteen, and I represent Squad Two." Viktor pushed out his reiatsu behind him, keeping it there so as no one could sneak up on him. "Why are you two still up? Humans should be sleeping by now, right?" Viktor stayed in his stance, between the one who transformed into a hollow, and the one who was pointing his fingers at Viktor, Viktor wasn't sure which was the biggest threat. Viktor kept flicking his eyes between the two men in front of him.
Viktor pushed his reiatsu further behind him, there was nothing there so far, but he didn't trust humans. They were unpredictable at heart, and most of them couldn't be trusted. If there were more than these two Viktor would most likely run. No matter how strong he is, if the numbers aren't in his favor, he should run. There is no shame in running, and living to fight another day. Viktor stood there, waiting, hoping that these two humans didn't try to do something incredibly stupid which might get them killed.
Gage jumped at Kvothe's sudden reaction to the appearing shinigami. Who reacts like that? Kvothe instinctually drawing his Vortice out the instant something shows up. The Shinigami himself seemed harmless, not aggressive and more so at a bit of a loss for general human customs. Questioning why human might still be awake he introduces himself as a member of Squad Two, was that the healing squad? No that was...Admin?...There were so many of them that Gage really couldn't remember which was which at the moment. All he knew is that Squad eleven was a bit of a pain in the ass, more blood thirst fighters than diplomats.
"Well hello Victor. What is the Gotie doing so far out here?" It was a bit of a legitimate question, hopefully this Shinigami was here for something other than the hollow that they are working on. The only thing worse than if he was here to steal the kill being if he was there to get one of the two of them. Being a bit out of tune with human culture he then asks about their odd sleeping schedule. "Uhhh..."Gage looks at Kvothe, not sure how to answer the question. "Well...I suppose most people like to get to bed about nine o'clock ish but...well...I guess its kinda hard to fall asleep out here. Lots of noise from the trees and we know that there is a hollow around here somewhere."
Sitting back up in his bed Gage puts his feet back onto the ground. This has to be the...fifth...maybe the sixth Shinigami that he has met on chance in the world. They seemed to be everywhere, popping up like weeds, but only in the eastern Asia. Not once in all his time back in the US did he ever find a Shinigami walking around.

Kvothe looked confused; did Gage know this man? Why was he so comfortable with his sudden appearance and, moreover, what in the world was a Shinigami? Kvothe let some calculations run through head quickly, Sun Tzu had taught him much and he let the words flow back to him while keeping his eyes trained on Viktor.
'If you know your self and not your enemy you will only win half of your battles; if you know your enemy and not yourself, you will only win half of your battles; if you know half of yourself and half of your enemy, you will win half of your battles. It is only by knowing both yourself and your enemy that you may win all battles.' Quoting The Art of War always helped Kvothe steady his thoughts before he did something reckless. He knew himself thoroughly, but his powers were not fully matured; moreover, he knew less about Gage and next to nothing about this Viktor character. The only problem that existed in the room currently was the tension emanating from Kvothe himself; with that in mind he lowered his hands and recalled Vortice, but he never lowered his guard, even as he sat silently on the bed and watched the other two interact he remained hyper focused, devouring everything he could just in case this Shinigami became an enemy.
Viktor sighed in relief as he noticed the other man put his fingers down. 'Not too sure what he was going to do with his fingers, but I would have to guess it has to do with water.' Viktor remembered seeing the man manipulate water earlier, when they were back in the city. He turned to face the one who had spoke. "To answer your question, I was sent here by the Gotei. Something about a really strong hollow roaming around." Viktor narrowed his eyes for a moment. Taking in everything about the man who had spoke to him. 'He seems perfectly fine right now, so what was that thing that he did earlier? I could have swore he was a hollow, I felt it in my bones.' Viktor shrugged the thought from his mind. "I'm assuming some human organization sent you two to deal with the hollow?"
"Bzzzz.....bzzzzz" Viktor heard some static and touched his ear piece. "This is Viktor. I didn't catch that, please repeat your message." Viktor moved his hand from the ear piece. "Bzzz.....bzzzz" More static. 'There must be something interfering.' Viktor looked back at the man. "There's something interfering with my signal back to SS. Is it just the two of you here?" Viktor tapped his ear piece and yet there was still only static. He took the ear piece out and looked it over, there was nothing wrong with it from what he could, but then again he wasn't gifted with technology. He was a silent fighter, not an inventor. Viktor put the communicator back in his ear. "Today is just getting weirder and weirder." He mumbled to himself.
Gage was not really worried that this shinigami might be a bit battle hungry but even so it was a bit relieving when he relaxed along with Kvothe. This man was from the Gotie, or at least that is what he claimed, there have been stories of Shinigami that have gone rouge from their organization. They had also noticed the hollow in the area, sending this shinigami to deal with it, alone no less. "Yeah we were sent by Polarity. They are generally pretty good about getting us in and out before you guys notice anything though. Did you come alone? I didn't know that the Gotie did that. Solo missions that is."
Gage is surprised, seeing the Shinigami in his mid evil garb touch an electronic ear piece, getting communications from some outside source but it was likely all the extra wards on the building were messing with its reception. "Yeah its just the two of us. May I?" Gage points at the ear piece," I think that I can get it to work. We have a lot of spiritual wards here and it keeps most Rei signals from going in and out so it reeks havoc on cell signals. You have to send it on frequencies that are generally echoed between 5.5 mega hertz and 5.7. I can make the adjustment for you if you like." It was a simple adjustment on the internal of the earpiece, if Victor allowed it, turning a dial in the earpiece that all frequency emitting radios have. On this thing since it was so small it was going to be unpractical to disassemble it so he would have to use his Soul Communication to make the small change, not having to open it up to get the alteration done. "So we are getting paid to get this job done. Are you getting some kind of reparation for your work cause if you finish it off then we don't get paid."

Kvothe still wore a bit of surprise on his face due to Gage interacting with the Shinigami so casually. Was he really that inexperienced that he didn't know of the people who apparently shared the same goal as Polarity? Kvothe sighed quietly and watched Gage offer to fix the earpiece that the Shinigami had been communicating through. There was a juxtaposition to seen here, the third man wearing his strange archaic garb while speaking into a piece of technology that even Kvothe had little experience with; it made him wonder just what else these Shinigami possessed. Was it all from the human world or had they developed it themselves? Kvothe assumed that whatever was i development went towards combat. It made sense with the information that he had been presented with so far. As Kvothe pondered the technological advances of Death Gods, he felt a twinge on the fringe of his spiritual senses. How could he have forgotten? They were here on a mission after all; Kvothe didn't want to interrupt, but what kind of rumors would get around about him if it got out that he possibly let a Hollow slip under the radar because he was being polite.
"Gage, Viktor we can discuss compensation in a bit do you guys feel that?"
Viktor tried to figure out if they had heard of Polarity before, or if there were any records of it. He thought back for a bit, but he came up empty. Hearing Gage speak about being alone snapped Viktor back to reality. "They don't usually send out just one Shinigami on missions. I'm a bit of a rare case. I'm from the stealth squad, and I prefer to work alone. So usually my missions end up being solo. My combat abilities work out better if I don't have to worry about other Shinigami." Viktor laughed a bit and thought about his release, which would harm any Shinigami who couldn't control their reiatsu, and any spiritually aware being who couldn't control it either.
Viktor smiled at Gage and handed him the ear piece. "Thank you for the offer. It's important I stay in contact with SS." Viktor looked around the room, he couldn't see any wards or runes, but that was probably the point. He then watched Gage mess with the ear piece. "That's impressive, I'm not that great with the tech we're given usually." Viktor chuckled slightly beneath his mask. Viktor took the ear piece back and set it in his ear properly. "I'm not here for money or anything like that. My file says this hollow is really strong, and I enjoy the challenge. Don't worry though, I'm not going to keep you guys from your job. The way I see it is, we're hunting the same thing so we might as well work together."
Viktor looked at the other man as he asked a question. Now that he mentioned it Viktor felt a huge movement on the edge of his reiatsu senses. "Bzzzz....bzzzz...." Viktor heard the communicator and put his finger to the ear piece. "This is Viktor." Viktor put his hand back down by his side. "Viktor we lost you there for a bit. You need to get moving. There's a spiritual presence around and it's moving towards your location." Viktor's eyes grew wide. "Guys, SS says that there's something moving towards us. It could be another person, or it could be the hollow. Either way we should be prepared." Viktor drew his swords, and pushed out his reiatsu, looking for where the signature could be coming from.
It would not be unusual that the Shinigami have not heard of Polarity as the group does what it can to maintain secrecy. Even if civilians who find out about the group are either bribed or inducted into the company as an employee so that the secret remains theirs. The Gotie on the other hand didn't keep up their secrecy as much as they should. For someone who has done zero research on the group Gage feels as if he already knew a bit too much about the group as a whole.
This particular Shinigami was unique in that he was traveling alone, something that he has not encountered from all the other shinigami in his realm. He had once heard of the stealth squad but he did not know their function. His imagination however did not expect this, something closer to the generic ninjas coming to mind rather than the regular Shinigami that he has in front of him. Was it possible that the second squad was really that much stronger than the other squads? Traveling alone was generally a sign of responsibility and even squad 11 didn't do that.
Taking the ear piece Gage sends a small spark of green light into it, adjusting the receiver and transceiver so that they emit on the specific frequency that Gage's own equipment use. "No problem, its important that we all stay on the same page or shit gets out of hand. Gage tosses the earpiece back, keeping a mental note of the electronics of the ear piece. If this thing was able to communicate with soul society it must have some way of breaching the barrier between the two worlds and if that was the case then it might serve as good starting place if he ever wants to create a portal to Soul Society.
Gage didn't feel a hollow coming but he was never one to brag about his sensing abilities. "Yeah," Gage was still a little fatigued, tired from his earlier escapades. "Lets get this started." Gage takes a knee at his bag and pulls out a few pieces of equipment, his break blade and his hollow knife tucked into his belt, the break blade being in the shape of a cross that he hooks onto his belt.

Kvothe took a deep breath, perhaps this wasn't the Hollow they were hunting; Kvothe hoped it wasn't the they were hunting. He wasn't fatigued as he hadn't been attacked in any way during the fight, but the day had been long. He wanted to rest before they headed out; it seemed Kvothe would have no such luxury and decided to release Vortice once more. With three of them fighting it (even though he didn't entirely trust Viktor) it should go quickly and smoothly, at least he hoped it would. Kvothe looked over at Gage and then to Viktor: he had already received confirmation from the other Fulbringer that he was an up close fighter; if the swords were any indication, he was willing to guess that Viktor would be in melee range as well, meaning it would be up to Kvothe to be eyes and ears. It was not uncommon for one's battle sense to be clouded even when with vast amounts of experience under your belt.
"Gage, Viktor I'll get you both in close with my bubbles. I'm thinking we attack on three front's with me as the central focus. If the thing is desperately trying to close the gap between it and a ranged opponent, it most likely won't notice the two of you sneaking up on it. Sound good?" Kvothe looked at the both them awaiting a response.
Viktor thought to himself for a moment. 'Okay, I need to go as long as possible without releasing my Zanpakuto. If I do, they could inhale too much, and it would slowly kill them. I could give one of them my mask, but then what about the other one? The other one would be left to hold his breath as long as he possibly could. Although if the hollow is too strong it might be necessary to to use it as soon as possible.' Viktor felt like he was at an impasse. He pulled out his tracker and saw the triangle getting closer and closer to their position. He would have to make his decision soon as to how he would go about it.
The other Fullbringer said something that pulled Viktor out of his thoughts. 'So this guy is a long range, tactician?' Viktor tucked that information away into his mind in case he needed it for later. "I do believe that would work. I don't know how bubbles will get us up close, but I trust you guys." Viktor looked between the two Fullbringers. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?" Viktor tightened and loosened his grip on his swords, a feeling of worry crawling down his spine.
Gage was more than happy with this plan, it put him up front and personal with the hollow with one other person to pull their own weight. If this Shinigami was as strong as the weakest shinigami that he has ever run into then he would most definitely be a boon during this fight, their weakest of fighters being more dangerous than Gage was on his best days. Feeling the hollow approaching Gage could feel the spiritual pressure growing as it came closer, changing from a speck of hollow on the distance to a wave of energy that seemed to be washing over them all in the bunker. Even those who were not skilled in the art of spiritual sensing would be able to feel the energy of this hollow coming.
"I don't think that I can pull its attention just based on its energy. This thing seems like they should have sent a team to deal with it and not a pair of new hunters. At least the Soul Society was kind enough to send us some back up when the crap hits the fan." Gage stands and tightens his loose clothing and buckles down his sleeve on his left arm. Slipping a paulderon on he buckles it down and pulls a Kevlar cloth up over his arm. Putting on an elbow pad and a wrist guard Gage finishes assembling all his gear, ready as he will ever be down here in the wilderness so far from civilization.
Walking over to the chest Gage starts digging through the generic gear in it to find some spare weapons. Taking out several bladed weapons and tossing them out the door onto the ground he throws everything that would be dangerous as a projectile into his improvised weapon pile.

While the other two men stood within preparing themselves, Kvothe clasped his hands together and calmly made two bubbles; the bubbles were small, normal sized spheres that Kvothe set to follow his companions. The bubbles hovered near their shoulders and Kvothe began to explain the logistics of his ability while walking towards the door. All that the two of them needed to do was touch the bubbles when they were ready to move, it would expand and cover them entirely.
"Don't be alarmed, the thing will pop once you reach your destination and if I somehow get indisposed you can pop it from the inside by applying an equal amount of spiritual energy to an attack. Give me a holler if you need me I need to get set up." Kvothe took a deep breath and started to take in light, if the two men were watching closely enough they'd notice his eyes turn prismatic as the light hit them. After he'd absorbed enough light, Kvothe ran outside and started to turn the light he'd collected into a large blue tower; from there, Kvothe could see in every direction: it was the perfect sniper nest. He could see the thing approaching it was close, closer than Kvothe would have liked. He wouldn't have time to create as many ripples as he needed.
"Hopefully the two of them will buy me enough time..."
Viktor stood quietly and listened intently as Kvothe explained the details of his fullbring. 'Quite the interesting one. I wonder what else these two humans are capable of?' Viktor kept his thoughts to himself as he raised his hand up to his ear piece. "This is Viktor. Preparing to engage Spiritual Entity. Please advise." Viktor waited a few minutes, with no response until a crackle went through the ear piece.
"This is SS. Viktor we recommend you do engage without first scoping the enemy. If that does not seem possible then you have permission to engage." Viktor nodded to himself. "If it is a hollow do try to cleanse it. And Viktor, keep an eye out for a spike in spiritual pressure. Our radars detected a hollow type pressure from the city you came from."
Viktor felt his eyes go wide as he remembered the man named Gage. 'That's right, I had almost forgot about that.'Viktor shot a glance out of the corner of his eye at Gage. "Understood SS. Over and out." Viktor switched off his ear piece. He didn't want any distractions. Viktor saw Kvothe walk out of the room and Viktor turned to Gage. "Don't freak out once I remove my mask." Viktor slowly undid the clasps on the back of his head and felt the rebreather loosen to a point where he could remove it from his face. Viktor took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Viktor usually preferred to keep his mask on, but fighting was a different story. He gently rubbed the scars on his face and popped his neck. Turning back to Gage, Viktor handed the man his mask. "If we're going to be the up close fighters, you're going to want this. My release is dangerous to spiritual beings." Viktor walked over to Gage and demonstrated how the clasps would work. "You can remove it at anytime, it's not a trick or anything. It filters out the air so that nothing but the proper amount of oxygen flows into your system." Viktor looked Gage in the eyes. "While you are within fifty meters of me and my release: Do. Not. Take. This. Off."
Viktor touched the bubble and watched as it formed around him. "Neat." He spoke out loud. Drawing his two swords Viktor sat down with his legs crossed and set his swords across his legs. "I'm ready once you guys are." Viktor look at his swords and felt his Zanpakuto vibrate. "Don't worry, we won't lose anyone." A smile crossed his lips.
Gage listened as he finds the last of the equipment that he wanted, even throwing shields onto the pile of random tools. Snapping his fingers a green spark of light arcs from his fingers to the pile and fills the weapons with his energy. Shields start to float and hover shoulder level while spinning like a frizz bee while swords lift into the air as if there were a rope tide to the tip of the blade, the weapons all spinning slowly. "Alright, lets get outside." Gage steps outside with the floating gear forming a small wall of equipment behind his back. The mask that he was offered was taken happily. If this Shinigammi's release was as dangerous as he was making it seem then maybe he should take extra precaution against the chance that the release was going to be out of his control. The shinigami's reassurance that they would not lose anyone did not make him feel any better as he had not had the thought come across his mind yet.
He knew that this was going to be dangerous but he had not really considered that it was going to be fatal to anyone. Yanking on a strap on his arm he tightens the armor down the last little bit before turning to face the direction that the hollow was appearing to come from. Over his right shoulder the small bubble floats, his new means of travel for the time being. "Okay, I am going to stay up on top of the camp site," it really didn't count as a camp site as the 'camp' was a concrete bunker. "When it get close enough I will get the drop down on it." Looking at the Shinigami with his blades crossed he does something that he has done hundreds of times before this. Using Soul Communication he bounces himself off the ground into the air and lands lightly on the roof of the bunker taking a knee when he lands. "Victor, your going to take point to draw it in. I will take it from above when you get it close enough and the over all goal is to keep K'vothe out of trouble. If this thing is as strong as its signature seems then it could be the end of us if it gets its grabby little hands on anyone."

Kvothe cast a headlong glance in the direction of the Hollow while he waited for his companions; Kvothe would be lying if he said he didn't feel slightly anxious at the prospect of fighting alongside these two. They were both more than agreeable and clearly capable of handling the complexities of combat. No, it wasn't the fact that he didn't trust the two men that were going to fight with him; Kvothe was on edge because in this specific scenario he wasn't sure what would happen beyond the initial plan. Hollows were unpredictable and with all the excitement of the day combined with the fact that he didn't get to rest, there was a very high chance that he could steer the two of them wrong. The simple fact of the matter was that Kvothe relied very heavily on being react to snap decisions based on the information he's gathered on his enemy. Kvothe had yet to gather any information and thus it was vital that everything go according to plan if not for the entire fight, then for long enough for Kvothe to mock up a surface analysis of the opponent. He doubted anything major would happen, but if things started to go south there was always the flood tactic. Kvothe smirked;
"No matter what happens, the game won't start until the pieces are in place."
