"The new arcade game should be fun..."
Excitement resonated throughout the arcade as the small group of seven people watched the large screen covering the newest addition to the Akiyama arcade. Many kids tried to set a high enough score to keep the daughter of the owner from beating their scores and claiming yet another first place spot. It was a remake of the videogame Doom and it being a first person shooter made it hard for Eevee to stay behind the counter and watch others play the game before her. She had wanted to play it before the arcade opened but she was dealing with paperwork to finalize her transfer into karakura high school and only just arrived at the arcade. She watched as the current challenger got the game over screen and the crowd clapped slowly cheering for the new high score.
"Give it up for Mikey setting the new high score for hard difficulty at one thousand points." A collective and dull voice drew Eevee's focus to her right to see her dad holding the mic to make the announcement. She always thought of him as an odd parent because he definitely looked like the anime character that was stubborn and anti-social and not a father. He was dressed in his black leather trench coat and black combat boots that made his white hair and red eyes stand out a lot. He smiled lightly at her before getting ready to introduce the next challenger. "Next we have Chris, this young man holds second place on the other Doom we have and is only one hundred points below Eevee's high score. Can he claim first place and hold it again?" Eevee waved slowly to the group before everyone focused on the screen to watch the game.
Eevee could not help but smile, Chris was one of her rivals here at the arcade ever since her dad made the place a public hangout for gamers. With every first person shooter game it was always Chris that stayed on her heels for the first place outside 'Zombie showdown 2014' where she left him way behind because she was in a real competitive mood that day having lost to her dad in a 'black ops two' match. The group was silent to allow Chris to focus as he picked the insane difficulty and Eevee moved up in her wheelchair. That was a direct challenge to her and her dad moved to welcome people into the arcade since Eevee's focus was locked in. 'You got my attention fully now Chris, don't disappoint me.' Eevee's thoughts faded out as the game intro commenced.
In search of something fun to do during the days of Aoi's vacation he entered the gaming arcade. He had not been to this one before and its name was Akiyama Arcade, he always liked to keep a low profile and noticed a big crowd as he snuck passed. He saw a new game and feeling like he needed to test it out he began the game on the easiest difficulty as he played this weird Doom-like game shooting everything in his path easily as he was not a pro, but he had to hold back a bit since being a powerful shinigami beneath his gigai meant his reflexes and what his eyes could see were so far above the norm he would not want to give away this ability.
He got some new clothes from a shopping mall and was covered in a nice fluffy style scarf and had a small hood like a turban while having his outfit seem like something you wore in an Arid Desert. He proceeded to play a few other games and then came across one that was always fun. He took the game with the yellow cheese that had a bite taken out of it, and began the game where he had to eat all the little balls of energy before the four retarded creatures came to kill him.
Bloodless fingers daftly moved over the buttons, the joystick to her left ablaze as the sounds of fist clashing upon ooze and steel rang out from the speakers. Then came the sounds of gunfire, bullet after bullet rattling off before those three words of triumph were spoken. “Hyper… Viper Beam!” The screen in front of her practically lit up before her eyes. Hyper Combo Finish! You win! Her score still climbed as the credits rolled. Her performance was exemplementry. She finished the final round in just under thirty seconds, she received a full health bonus. And in all the rounds she played, even as she conquered the final boss, she had not lost a single team member, thus she earned a “perfect” completion bonus. As she watched the numbers rise, a young man glanced over and took a peek as well. Though a good distance away, and peering through smudged glass lenses, he could see the final results. And what he saw forced him to rip his glasses off, clean them, and look again.
“No… No way…” he gasped. His body shaking so much, he could barely contain himself. “Hey!” He was practically jumping up and down, running down the aisles, trying his hardest to grab everyone’s attention. “Everyone! Come here! She broke the old record on Marvel Vs Capcom 2! Look at her score!” Her score? She had gotten up to 1,697,360,750. That bumped her up to first place in a flash. In fact, that score was almost as high as the world record. What an achievement… And yet she certainly didn’t want to bask in the afterglow.. Her shoulders stumped, the tall, pointed bunny ears on her hood drooping right after her new biggest fan took off running and screaming. A soft sigh slipped through her lips as vocals in her hood began to fade. All that was left to do was leave her name for the records. With a few swift rocks of the sticks, and a few button taps, it was finished.
REM
Only enough space for three letters. Good enough. Now it was time to make a swift and daring escape before this guy brought on the masses.

"a odd Cosplayer and someone taking down my high score..."
There would be no crowd of people as most stayed focused on the large screen, however one girl did slowly make her way over to the game that ruined her perfect first place record in the arcade. Eevee knew it would be easy to pass her scores on most games since she just chose to set records that seemed impossible for others to reach. If the person did look at the other scores 'Eve' would now be second at 500,000,000. Eevee did however pause to look over at the Pac-man machine.
She did not know exactly what the boy was dressed in as it was not modern in the slightest, however signing it off as some sort of Cosplay she chose to come back around and ask what anime it was from later after a small chat with the MvC2 first place holder. Slowly moving around the corner she hoped the person had not already left, but if they had stayed she would slowly clap with a small smile on her face. "I'm surprised my score was taken down by a first timer at the arcade. Name is Eevee, and I'll be the girl that dethrones that score of yours."
Eevee did not sound that convincing that she was surprised her score went down however, when she spoke of taking someone's score down her tone changed along with her reiatsu flaring weakly without her noticing it. Slowly moving closer she looked at the score to beat later on and her eyes flickered with just a moment of depression before her dull competitive gaze started to wake up. 'A score to nearly rival the world record? Then I can take down two scores in one strike.' Eevee dismissed the thoughts before offering a weak hand out to her MvC2 rival. If the person was already gone or away from the machine Eevee would try looking for her.
After some time had passed as the boy began to learn the tactics of this game just barely avoiding the four minions of destruction that seemed to turn a delicious blue every time he ate a large yellow cookie. He was dodging through them just barely as he began to approach upon the tenth ranked score which began to start attracting a few onlookers attention. The battle of the boy and his yellow cheese wheel pizza monster of death was a sight to behold. It was as if pacman got reborn as a speed demon as the timing of most of his evasive manoeuvres were so close that someone watching intensely nearly died as three minions converged to nearly capture, it looked almost as if they actually made contact. Little did they know it was just a matter of him not having human standards so the game almost appeared as slow motion to what he was used to.
Then the time game as he began to pick up on some of the lingo of the game, people were calling it Pacman and the four monsters chasing him were called Ghosts. In the end there could only be one winner in this ultimate battle between Pacman and Ghostmen.

No crowd came running. In fact, it seemed everyone had their eyes peeled on the arcade’s promotional event. With that, she could breathe easy. After all, she still had to get home and take her clothes off the line. She had to change her bed sheets, start dinner, and take some time to study for her upcoming exam in World History. She rewarded herself today for a job well done in keeping her home in working order, steeling her mind and readying herself to take on the terrifying challenges of routine housework. But as the young girl knelt down to lace up her boots, another girl weaved around the bend in her wheelchair, and gave her a round of applause. Even more surprising, she revealed herself to be the previous top-place holder, and seemed intent on rising up to challenge again for the top spot. That icy cold stare, that tone, and that subtle, flickering spark of determination that briefly bubbled up… well, it didn’t look like she would be able to walk away so easily today. Blue, soulful eyes cut straight through the shadows cast within her hood. Her cheeks dimpled as she tilted towards Eevee, her hand gently clasping over hers. “Remi. It's a pleasure.”

"Maybe dad would have some advise..."
Eevee was not much of a social person, her having the high score in most the games in the arcade aside from MvC2 and any of the dance games for obvious reasons on the last ones. Although she did hold them under a different appearance and name but that was a secret to her alone. Moving her hands back to her lap she seemed lost in thought for a few seconds before looking back at the big screen and actually hissing lightly. "He never plays fair that boy. He can't leave cheat codes alone in a desperate attempt to bring my scores down." Eevee reached behind her seat to pull out a laptop and get to work.
She did not have much of a plan going into the situation but her hands and eye movements darted around opening programs and windows as she went to work. A small skull appeared in the bottom left corner of her screen 'Busting another cheater EvE?' lined the small chat box before a link that opened to show the game from a different perspective. The thing about this arcade was each machine was made to counter cheaters and outside hackers that did not know the system. Eevee's left hand slowly adjusted her glasses before she began to counter act the cheater playing 'Doom'.
The gaming was continuing as the people seemed to be too busy gathering elsewhere, the boy had left the machine as his nick was plastered on the top of the pacman scoreboard, he had at least beaten the top score by about a hundred points which is not much, but a win is a win as those three large letters were typed in
'A.. O.. I..'
As the boy walked around looking for some other game he came across something that just seemed to be calling out to him, it seemed to be unique or at least it caught his attention as there were two people showing off before one fell down from exhaustion. The man smiled and raised up his hand as he made it to a top ten score after beating his opponent. He looked at the game and then asked.
"Is it okay if I play too?" as the guy started laughing and said, "Sure kid, I hope you can keep up"
The boy stepped on the platform and then it began, the battle of dance had begun as the song began to play as they began to skip to the beat hitting pressure pads and that is when he realised you did not need to dance to beat this game, but dancing just made it so much more fun to do

“Hm…”
Yes, “Hm…” was right. Who exactly would be so bold as to cheat in front of a crowd of onlookers? Who would even have the skill to do so in such a way, no one would notice? If you really stopped to think about it, that in of itself is… actually quite remarkable. In fact, if you were that deft, that clever, why would you even need to resort to cheating? This actually stirred Remi’s curiosity a bit, made her ponder. Before she knew it, she had positioned herself right behind Eevee’s chair, leaning in right over her shoulder, her pale fingers lost within her hood, carefully poised at her chin. Her eyes were scrunched up into a squint so exaggerated, she had to be joking. Through the razor thin line of vision she allowed herself, she followed the graphical user interface, all the various programs as they booted up, the chat box, and of course, that curious little display that showed “Doom” as it was played from afar. Yeah, it’s was pretty obvious now: the young girl who sat in silence, who had turned her mind to steel, was more than just a fine connoisseur of the gaming arts. This could be fun to watch… so fun that Remi decided then and there that she was going to just order takeout instead of cooking up a storm back home. With the extra time that would give her, she could watch, be amazed, and still have the time to get back home and complete all her chores. Yup, what could go wrong?
Eevee did not have much time or focus to break as she started reworking the code of the game, more specifically the attack patters of each monster. All she could do was turn red that someone took interest in the boring side of the hack as the crowd got louder as the player had to get creative with all the new patterns. The chat box appeared for a moment to relay a new message before going away behind the hack board. 'Another score hit down EvE, oh on Pac-man. I used to play that all the time.' While Eevee might not have noticed it she did growl about her score for a bit before finding the root of the cheat.
"An infinite ammo cheat... Guess I just need to make things more action packed." Eevee's voice was dull as she adjusted her glasses again and began rerouting the later monsters to get ready for a swarm attack. Her frustration over her scores also caused her to enter in more monsters to fill the spots she took them from as she grinned slightly and watched. "Never cheat in the Akiyama arcade, because we can counter those cheats..."
It took Eevee a moment to notice she was speaking out loud and quickly turned red over the matter. Closing her laptop quickly and looking towards the Pac-man machine. She was mostly trying to imagine 'mastermind' playing a game like that when he was just some computer program she installed that was supposed to help hackers with advice and pointing them in the right direction for what they wanted. A dull thought that maybe it was a person behind a keyboard like her rose only to subside as 'game over' rang throughout the arcade.
Meanwhile the battle had finally begun as the song that was played was not something you would expect in an arcade, or was it. The battle was going to be a series of songs is what the guy said to the boy and the first song that came up was fortunately not too difficult.
That sizzling sound before the beat began, as the first few movements were easy, the boy just followed instructions as the guy spoke quick.
"Do not be a noob, this is how we do it in the arcade."
The guy started matching the arrows, but he was doing actual dancing as well as the boy got excited and began doing his own thing then he noticed it was a bit tougher being shorter as the guy whirled flicking his hair as his collar stood out. The small boy began to enjoy himself as he managed to keep up. The first round looked real close their scores nearly equal as the song kept on going the people that were not hooked on the tournament were in shock as they realised the original high score for this song was being closed in on as this guy was struggling as he began to sweat a bit.
The song ended as the score was the young boy Aoi having lost by a score of sixty as the guy was a bit panicky. Meanwhile the both of them were just fifty points short of beating the old record set by ICE. The boy wondered who this record master was as the guy looked to the boy.
"I said best of five and I will show you respect boy, let us set the stage and break this next song apart. Oh wait its your choice for song now"
