The hustle and bustle of Karakura's Industrial District appeared to have paused ever so slightly; like a pebble dropped on a sheet, the presence of one man seemed to be causing distortions, causing dozens or perhaps even hundreds to come approaching. They sheltered around, their voices soft and confused, almost awed...and the man in the center of it all hardly even seemed to notice. His eyes were closed, his body was unmoving. Though he wasn't looking directly at them, Yaksha could sense the presence of each and every person nearby. He riffled through them slowly and carefully, seeming to gauge each one, before setting them reverentially aside. At the speed of thought, it took little more than two or three minutes to sense each and every one...and none of them were yet worthy. The intent of these performances hadn't yet been reached.
It was another twelve minutes before he finally came to life. His skin, bronzed perfectly as if by some very precise pain, began to move and flex. It was a slow, careful movement at first...a sort of histrionic motion that brought to mind an animatron moving in a single vector at once. His hands dropped to his side, before his head rose, and his eyes opened. And when he spoke the rich, potent tones of a man who was used to being heard filled the air with warmth and mirth. It was something remarkably soothing, almost...infectious.
"Thank you all for coming! And so we reach the third installment of our great performance. I'm somewhat surprised to find that the proper authorities haven't come yet. But when you're a man like me...well, let's just say you don't have much respect for authority."
He chuckled softly, deep in his throat, and tapped a foot against the ground slowly, carefully...as if testing the ground beneath him. A moment later he gestured towards the crowd with a flourish...again with that oddly robotic stilted movement, with that absolute oddity of motion that made him seem like something out of a fairy tale. And in his hand there was...a deck of cards.
"Let's get right to it. I know you're all busy men. A volunteer, if you please. Someone to come and observe these entirely regular playing cards."
Gage walks, large fluffy white jacket lined with the fancy fur of a rabbit. In his hands he holds a bag of gummy bears, a handful of bears in his right hand with the bag in his left. One after another he tossed a bear into the air high enough to take about two steps before catching it in his mouth and downing it. It was like this, his routine starting up after this being his third visit to this street side magician, that he was developing a rather dangerous sweet tooth that was starting to upset his stomach but who could possibly care when you have a three pound bag of candy?
And this was it, this human from the feel of it, that always drew such a crowd during his performance. Gage was only passing by the last time that he was here, stopping to see the commotion as a man performed a series of 'impossible' magic tricks on the street but Gage knew better. At first it was the sheer amazement that hid the supernatural aura that emanated from the man but now that Gage has had some time to cool off, get a bite and a night in bed he can see this man for what he is. Spiritually awakened souls are rare in the human world, Gage only having met five in all of america and a good amount more in Japan but even with those numbers they are few and far in between.
"Thank you all for coming! And so we reach the third installment of our great performance. I'm somewhat surprised to find that the proper authorities haven't come yet. But when you're a man like me...well, let's just say you don't have much respect for authority."
Oh, well good thing he's humble. Would hate to have all that talent and be a showboat. Gage chuckled to himself as he listens, looking around as everyone was too nervous to step up and be in the lime light with the Street Magician as he called for a volunteer. This is it, my chance to say hey and get his attention. Stepping forward Gage waves to him and looks at the people, literally over a hundred pairs of eyes all watching him as he moves forward. "I'll do it," trying to not make a fool of himself as he looked over the cards as instructed.
Yasha's eyes widened ever so slightly as Gage stepped out from the crowd, and within a split second he could tell...this was the man he had waited for. This was the one who carried potential. And that meant this was the one he had been -hoping- to have a pretense to engage with. Volunteering himself? Now that was just a little too much luck. For a stray moment Yaksha wondered if perhaps these events were being manipulated...but dismissed it in an instant. It was, at the end of the day, irrelevant. His role in all of this would be played, no matter what. And the human's role would be determined soon enough.
He fanned out the cards, his nimble fingers twitching them over one at a time, without ever having to touch the backs; they simply seemed to turn of their own accord, as if they had minds of their own. His brows waggled in an oddly conspiratory gesture, as if waiting for his guest to make some comment, or get a joke that hadn't actually been spoken out loud yet. But he finally pushed the cards into the mortal's hands, and turned away.
"They're quite real, I assure you. Whenever you're satisfied by the fact that the deck contains every possible card, pick one. Dispose of it as thoroughly and decisively as you like. I won't even watch."
Gage takes the cards thrust upon him gladly, looking around the crowd with a smile. Flipping through them quickly he finds the four of spades. Lets see how you act under pressure. This is going to be hilarious. Pulling it out he holds the deck in his left hand with the card sticking out the top. Dropping his bag of gummies he pulls a lighter out of his pocket lights it, igniting the corner of the card and puts away the lighter. Grinning to the crowd he gets a rather good reception to his less than polite way of disposing of the card.
As soon as the card caught a good flame and was about to burn away totally Gage tosses it into the air and blows on it, the ashes vanishing into the street winds. Grinning he turns back to the street performing magician. Top that. Still smiling he picks his bag of candy back up and starts to stuff his face. What was this man doing? He could be doing quite literally anything else in the world, being spiritually aware and mildly powerful opening doors that normal people can never even comprehend. He could do magic shows in a theater making thousands of dollars at a time and even work for the government if he wanted.
Maybe he was here to get someone or somethings attention, drawing special attention to the police or some other organization that he feels might be watching. "I'm done. Do I hold the cards or do I..." Walking forward he offers the cards back, the crowd laughing slightly at the antics of a strange man that appeared from nowhere with a lighter. Oh shit, I just burnt his card...I'm going to have to buy him a new deck now...
"That's what people never understand. In a performance like this, only one person holds the cards. And it's always me."
Yaksha's eyebrows rose slowly, ever so slowly, and his foot tapped down on the ground, just once. As soon as he did, four small slabs of rock shot up from the ground in front of him, spiralling lazily around his hand. He twisted one to the side, showing it to the audience; it appeared, in fact, that each one was an almost perfect rendition of a playing card, as if it had been carved from stone. He stared at them, his lips pursed as if in concentration, and oh dear god the feeling in the air was -electric-. There was a sensation that everyone present was holding their breath, waiting for the real trick. This man had just caused cobblestones to turn into playing cards, and the people around all seemed to be staring on with the understanding that there was more to come.
Who else but a creature that counted his lifespan in millenia could hold attention as thoroughly as this? Who else but a monster could tug the strings with such expert skill? And who else but Yaksha Dokuja would be content to use it for such silly things as street entertainment? He sighed ever so slightly, shaking his head and clenching his fist. And as he did, the stones fell to the ground with a faint pattering noise, seemingly inert now. He glanced at Gage once more, then tapped his foot down once more. This time it was eleven cards...all clubs.
"A one? No, no. Clubs? No, I think not. Bear with me, reading the ether is a tricky business. It could take some time."
God, this was almost too easy. Even if this man had a poker face that could put a hollow to shame, the audience would do all the work for him; reading the mood was the simplest thing, and it would take less than a couple more tries to thin down the possibilities to just a handful. And then the real fun would begin.
{Spoiler} Name: Tren De Piedra (Train Of Stone) Class: Hollow Technique Type: Offensive/Defensive Range: 30 meters Tier: V Description: Condensing a large mass of reiryoku into the air in front of them, the user ends up conjuring a 10 foot high, 10 foot wide, 20 foot long block of solid, gray rock. With but a simple flexing of the user's reiatsu, the stone block is propelled forwards at around the speed of a Cero, causing very high impact damage with even a glancing blow, very similar to a train.
Woah boy this guy was a showman, addicted to the lime light like an actor of a soap-opera. Gage raises an eye brow and looks tot he crowd for reassurance that this mans odd attention seeking behavior was out of the norm and that he himself was not the only one who thought that. However the crowd had a different opinion, their faces turning to "ohh's and Ahhh's" as he uses some Reiatsu to pull slabs of stone from the ground before their very eyes. One the face of each slab that he hovered a face of a card is embossed perfectly, the detail completely lost on the crowd as the closer members all reached out with a hand in the hopes of touching some kind of wire or string that was suspending the stones.
Starting to call out the cards faces Gage recognizes the ploy, one where he would read his posture and facial expressions to guess when the right card would show up. Gage would not be toyed with though, his face stone like in its setting to be emotionless while the cards flew by. So distracted by the maintaining of himself in a blank state he did not even think about the audience, their own efforts and determination much weaker than his own. They would invariably be the weak link in Gages side of this trick unbeknownst to him.
