PERSONALITY
If his zanpakuto is an inferno, Ryuzaki's personality is more akin to a candle flame. Calm, controlled, with the occasional flicker. He was raised in the samurai class and keeps its ideals close to his heart. The truth of death and the afterlife makes much of the samurai creed difficult to follow, however. He died of tuberculosis, the 'goal' of a good death is almost comical. Achieving inner peace is an insurmountable task for Ryuzaki. His outlook on these ideals and life in general is a cynical one. He keeps his own way of the warrior, forging his own individual ideals of honour, respect, loyalty and benevolence while still considering himself a samurai. A good life and a death to go with it is what he will make of it, his own terms. He is very disciplined and determined to a fault when he locks his mind to a goal. Though someone might just say he's stubborn. He would tell you that stubbornness is the way of the warrior. Only in a rare display of anger does he ever stray from the path. His path.
Memories of the Quincy war still linger. He sees the eyes of the innocents slaughtered by his blades, screaming in his sleep. Ryuzaki comforts himself from these thoughts with drink, occasionally with meditation. The world just became slightly more numb as the decades ticked. The ideals of the shinigami became meaningless after the war. Now being a shinigami was just his job, no longer a noble calling, just his duty. The Dangai became something of a commute. He is rather often stationed in the Human World as a hunter of hollows. When somebody screws up and calls for reinforcements, Ryuzaki is the guy who shows up. Most often he simply patrols random spits of land in the human world or Rukongai for a few weeks. He enjoys the solitude a shinigami feels in the human world. Literally invisible, ineffective to the world save for the spiritual. The perfect place for meditation. Until a hollow shows up.
Ryuzaki is the type of guy to share beer and steel in equal measure. He likes to spend his free time training with his squad-mates, or drinking with them. Often both. Ryuzaki enjoys painting and calligraphy, a time honoured tradition. He is rather dedicated to his art. He has a set of high quality brushes which he saved salary for two years to afford. He is intrigued by modern human thought and philosophy, he owns many books on the subject. Ryuzaki enjoys those patrols that have him wandering the Rukon, there is always a thug or pickpocket deserving of a harsh lesson in ethics. One he is eager to give.
In combat, he is without ceremony or strong words. There is only the battle. The battle is all that matters, life and death being the only priority. He will only speak if something particularly witty comes to mind. Otherwise, he is focused with a face hard as stone.
HISTORY

HUMAN LIFE AND DEATH
Ryuzaki grew up in the shadow of Edo castle in Japan, born to his samurai father. His father was known throughout the empire as a masterful swordsman, one of the greatest in the land, the tales surrounding him of chivalry and honour sparkled in the eye of a young Ryuzaki. His father was like the samurai in the stories, or so he thought. He practised with sticks ever since he was old enough to hold one, hoping desperately to follow in his father's steps and one day be a great samurai himself. He showed great promise, exhibiting a quick grasp of the skills and ideals of the samurai class. Fate would not allow him his goals, however. At the age of 10 Ryuzaki fell ill with tuberculosis. The disease consumed him in a matter of days.
He roamed Edo castle an idle soul as he awaited guidance. He still practised his swordplay, although alone and silent to the world. A shinigami came for him in the flickering light of the evening. Ryuzaki saw the man in black robes and assumed him a demon. Ryuzaki attempted to attack the shinigami with his righteous tree branch. He managed to swing and strike the shinigami, to no avail. The shinigami simply sliced his stick in half with a single swing of his katana. The reaper laughed, patted him on the head, and only half sarcastically suggested he join the Gotei before sending him to rest.
SOUL SOCIETY
The shinigami told Ryuzaki he would not feel hunger in the Soul Society. It seemed he was wrong. Ryuzaki was hungry all the time. He and several other children with reiatsu banded together for survival. They called it a 'gang.' Ryuzaki proved himself very capable with this group directive. He orchestrated elaborate plans to secure food for his group. Heists, almost. Their usual trick was to have one child steal something from a market stall, and while the owner was distracted the other kids swarmed in and stole all his goods and money. They moved from district to district stealing and cajoling in a hundred different ways just to survive.
As Ryuzaki got older, he remembered what the shinigami said about the Gotei 13. The other kids talked a lot about the shinigami, and their goals to join the Gotei 13. He heard how they protect humans from demons called hollows. He thought this an honourable way of work, no longer content to beg and steal for what little food they could get. With food becoming more scarce, his hunger becoming greater, joining the Gotei 13 seemed like a good option. After his 20th year in the Soul Society, he enrolled in the Shino Academy. Ryuzaki was disciplined in his studies and practice, being the only one to score one hundred percent on the entrance exam that year. He remained near the top of his class through the whole six years. The teachings of the shinigami reminded him of the samurai, Ryuzaki felt right at home in the Gotei. He had steady feed, his hungry was never a problem as his strength increased. He decided to join the 8th Division when he graduated.
GOTEI 13 AND THE QUINCY WAR
Ryuzaki never imagined having to fight an actual war for the Gotei. His job straight out of graduation was a typical one for shinigami: hunt hollows. At this task he proved rather proficient. In his first decade as a shinigami he earned more than a hundred kills. People quickly learned of his name and his skill. Everyone knew he would be a seated officer one day, perhaps a lieutenant or- dare they say- a captain. He was deployed right from the start of the Quincy war, his zanpakuto being seen as tactically valuable. If only it were so simple.
The Quincy war was a tragic and bloody conflict. Quincies, young, female, old, frail, were slaughtered in droves. Some of them simply on the spot. Most were taken to concentration camps where they systematically exterminated. Put to the sword for none more crime than being a Quincy. Ryuzaki was at the forefront of this. He was ordered to capture or to slaughter any quincy he saw. Ryuzaki burned children, women, any Quincy that happened to be unfortunate enough to be anywhere near him. In one particular battle he stood out. The Gotei's forces had been routed by a secret force of Quincy who flanked the Gotei's troops from hidden positions. Ryuzaki happened to be in just the right place, at just the right time. He sent several explosions into the Quincy forces, sending panic and confusion in the ranks. He lit the battlefield ablaze, allowing the Gotei to exploit an opening. The Gotei seized the moment and ended the battle favourably. He was much stronger back then, strong enough to kill dozens of Quincy in a stroke.
His intervention changed the course of the battle, which would not have been so favourable without him. They awarded him commendations awards. He was even given an epithet. For him it was hollow. In his dreams where he should see his bright future, there was only the screams of frightened women and children. Their eyes gazing at him from beyond death. These thoughts like a consuming fire burned his psyche with every passing night. He silently despises himself and the establishment, especially Captain Yamamoto whom Ryuzaki blames for the senseless slaughter of Quincy and his own grief. He resolves to become a captain, to truly be able to protect souls and not slaughter the innocent. The honourable way. His way. He has not gotten very far, scarcely an inch, only speaking of his ambitions to an empty bottle.
PRESENT
Decades became two centuries, his strength waned, Ryuzaki continued to suffer at the behest of himself. The eyes of his victims stared back from the abyss in his sleep. He hears their screams and feels the heat of Izanami no Mikoto's flames on his face. He loathes silently, wearing his mask of honour and cynicism. His life goes from day to day, mission to mission, bottle to bottle in silent pain of his actions. His duty keeps him alive, his creed keeps him sane. For how long is a mystery.

KIDOU SPECIALISATIONS Eishōhaki (詠唱破棄, "Incantation Abandonment"): is the skill in which a Kidō practitioner skips using a spoken incantation completely, but it drastically weakens the spell. This is applied as a 1-2 tier drop in the spells power depending on ones Kidou mastery, 2 for Beginner up to Advanced, and 1 for Mastered and above. However this also lowers the spells cooldown to match the lowered tier, to a minimum of Tier I.e.g A Tier IV Kidou be cast with Eishohaki as a tier II, its cooldown will also be the same at 0 posts. BATTLE SKILLS Consant Release Shikai - Overwhelming Power: This buff is an incomplete cap left on the compression of power, causing for explosive torrents of reiatsu to surge around the user. This form of ability causes reiatsu sensing abilities to scramble when in the presence of the user, and also gives their overall speed and strength a 2x boost [not affecting steps]. The primary perk of this form is that it allows the user to practically use their overflowing reiryoku as a weapon. Most commonly found as waves of energy with the swing or focus of the Shikai of varying power, along with an increase in pressure by 50%. She has a sulking and sullen disposition, rarely if ever showing anything resembling happiness. She roams the cosmos, in her wake only death and despair. Mikoto is the force of creation. The cycle of life. She seems to have infinite energy alongside a happy and cheerful demeanor. She roams in her sister's wake, building anew amidst destruction. INNER WORLD
Ryuzaki's inner world is the remains of an ancient supernova. Cosmic clouds of dust and distant stars are seen into the infinite, a neutron star shines in the very centre of the eons old cataclysm. He and his spirits fly freely through the nebula.
SHIKAI SHIKAI APPEARANCE Ryuzaki's zanpakuto is in a state of constant release. Izanami no Mikoto is a twin katana and wakizashi both having black circular guards with red and black wrapping on the hilt. Kanji runes are inscribed upon the blades. Each set representing the name of one of his shikai techs. When a tech is used the respective runes glow. The swords are kept in black scabbards. SHIKAI ABILITIES Name: Jundo (純度 - Purity)

Description: By activating the tech and cutting the enemy, Izanami plants a 'seed' in their skin. The seed will explode inside the target's body in three posts if it is not detonated before then. The seed can not be implanted anywhere within the opponent's head. Using this tech places a 1 post cooldown on Jundo, and a 2 post cooldown on itself. If the tech misses, then it is wasted and the aforementioned cooldowns are triggered.

Description: Izanami can draw fire in the environment. On the air, on the ground or walls, objects in a room, as though painted by a brush. The fire can be drawn as letters, words, and simple shapes. The intensity of the flame can be adjusted from a simple candle flicker to a raging inferno. The exact pattern drawn will very briefly appear as lines and scribbles of glowing red reiryoku, then set ablaze. This tech can simply be used at will. Fire can not be drawn directly on other characters or weapons. Using this tech at Tier IV triggers a 1 post cooldown.
