E = mc2. Einstein's theory of relativity. One of the ways someone could interpret it is that matter is simply condensed energy. An idea that seems to be the core of all Quincy Alchemy. While Shinigami and perhaps even some inclined Hollows may be forced to collect certain materials. The Quincy however are not limited to something as mundane as going out into the world and collecting various materials. Not when a much more efficient and powerful resource was right at their fingertips. Reishi. The ever-present energy that flowed everywhere. Surrounding, permeating and binding all life. .....Actually no, Liam was fairly sure that Reishi wasn't The Force. But it was fairly close. A powerful and invisible energy that was pretty much everything. To the point where entire worlds where made of it. And it is with this power, do the Quincy forge their tools. By condensing massive amounts of Reishi into a single point until energy became matter. Of course the amount of Reishi needed was massive. Gathering it for his arrows and other techniques was child's play compared to this. That was only rearranging energy for his own needs. And only for short periods at a time. This was a different beast entirely. Not only was he attempting to gather far more Reishi than he was used to. He also needed to somehow keep it in a permanent shape. And that was what he was attempting right now. A procedure to create Soul Synthesized Silver. Not that much. Just an ingot about half the size of his forearm arm. And so far he was making frustratingly slow progress. Having barely made a sliver the size of his finger. This was Haizen all over again. No matter how much he waved his hands or attempted to weave the Reishi. His progress was infuriatingly slow. Letting out a gasp of air. Liam released his hold on the Reishi in the air. The glow of the sliver of Soul Silver fading slightly before winking out altogether as Liam stopped gathering Reishi to add to its mass. With a sigh he picked up the sliver to inspect it. It wasnt exactly much. But it was certainly something. And with a failed quick attempt to bend the metal with his Blut-enhanced strength certainly suggested it was far stronger than any ordinary metal. Maybe he was onto something here. It would simply take time for him to get the hang of it. {Spoiler}Name: Ginkō Harikō (Silver Manuscript, Glass Manuscript) *** Class: Item Creation Type: Items Tier: N/A Range: N/A Description: This technique allows especially adept Quincy to manufacture Soul-Synthesized Silver and Soul-Synthesized Glass using the Reishi in the air alone. It is a very difficult technique that takes a long time to master.

With the sliver in one hand Liam reached back to grab the book next to him on a nearby chair. The tome did have details when it came to the forging of various Quincy artifacts and the creation of various spiritual materials. The only issue is that the book was hand written in code. Said code happened to be some medieval dialect of German. So it was a bit tricky to read. At this point Liam was regretting sleeping through all those German classes. They would have probably come in handy at this point.
....Dammit he'd actually have to go out of his way to learn German now wouldn't he? Sighing, Liam mentally added that to his ever-growing "To Do" list before turning his attention back to the sliver of Soul Silver in his palm.
Such a curious thing. Despite the massive amounts of Reishi involved in its creation. It was surprisingly docile. He had been expecting a more volatile substance. He couldn't help but feel slightly impressed with the Old Man. After all he had been able o make a fairly large room out of the stuff. That alone was fairly impressive. The fact that the metal was tough enough to withstand the two sparring was evidence enough that the Old Fart knew what he was doing when it came to making the stuff.
So there wasnt a chance in hell he was letting the Old Fart beat him in this. Taking the sliver in one hand, Liam's free hand began to softly glow, before holding it over the shard. Piece by piece, inch by inch. He would get this technique down.

It was about time he got started on this wasn't it? His ultimate objective was certainly a momentous one. He didn't feel that it was completely impossible. Difficult? Yes. Dangerous? Certainly, he'd be stepping on quite a few toes if this little project of his came to fruition. He could see many of his cousins being particularly angry with him and pretty much every Shinigami out for his blood by making them an unneeded force in this world.
But, that would have to wait. As clever as he thought he was. Liam's skills at crafting were nowhere near the level they needed to by in order to create what he was looking for. He also found himself lacking in the resource department for that specialized project. But that was another thing that he would have to wait for. He had neither the power nor the proper chance to seize that particular prize. So it would have to wait.
Instead his focus would find a more productive avenue with his current project. As potentially creepy as it might be. Having a series of nearly invisible spy drones flying around Karakura would certainly come in handy. The fact that they used mundane technology made it pretty much impossible for any spiritual beings to simply sense them.
That would be the case of course, if he could actually get the damn things to work right. Amazing how it easy it to simply steal the technology for those drones in comparison to actually making them work. The design was fine. The cloaking method was fine. It flew alright. The biggest issue was simply writing the code for the program that would stream the video and audio to Liam's own equipment.
Oh god the coding. It was one of the more tedious things Liam had to work on. It had gotten bad enough that it was beginning to cut into the time he usually dedicated to training with his new Seele. But such as it was, sacrifices would have to be made for progress. As it stood, Liam was nearly done with this current project. There was just a few finishing touches he'd need to work on before he could have his own little army of drones fluttering about the town.

One project may be finished. But there was still so much more Liam had to work on. But he had to start small. Not to mention things that would be useful outside of a fight instead of during one. At the level of strength he was at and compared to what he could make. It would simply be a waste of his time. Sure he could make a grenade or two. But without knowing what he was doing, chances are he'd either hurt himself or be unable to make anything strong enough to hurt whoever would actually be a threat to him.
No, he'd have to start small. And in this case, he was starting small in the literal sense as well as the metaphorical one. With another waggle of his fingers the miniature solder continued its work on the minuscule disk currently placed on his workbench. Grateful for how convenient telekinesis was. He'd never be able to operate on this level with such ease without it. Chances are he'd be using it extensively for future projects.
It wouldn't be long now. Soon enough Liam would have another option in his slowly growing arsenal. Having his own fleet of spy drones floating about the place is certainly nice. But communication was also important. He'd already built and thrown up the various signal boosters in the void between the worlds. All he needed to do was finish up with this damn circuitry and he'd be finished. The sooner he was sure this was done the sooner he could move on to bigger and better things.
For a brief moment Liam considered possibly asking Seran to tutor him when it came to working with spiritual materials. He certainly seemed to know his way around them.
Shaking his head, Liam marked that as a possibility. He didnt particularly feel like putting himself in anyone's debt at the moment. And despite the fact that Seran had been nothing but civil to him for the most part. He couldnt help but shake the unsettling feeling he got off the older soul.

Now that he had actually gotten his head around this whole building nonsense. It was high time he started actually working with something of substance. Sure making odd tidbits out of mortal materials was great for his income. But simple money wasn't his ultimate goal. He needed to get to work on working with spiritual materials. Researching the ins and outs of Reishi physics if he ever wanted to achieve anything in this life.
And what better way to begin his experimentation than to start working with Soul Silver. After all, the material was the building block of pretty much every Quincy device. And he could see why. It was durable, acted as a superconductor for Reishi as well as being extremely malleable for anyone who could manipulate Reishi. With but a thought he could bend its shape into nearly anything he wanted. Even change it to have properties similar to mercury. But still remain in a non-volatile state despite the amount of energy used in its creation.
Funnily enough, the Reishi infused water was practically the opposite. It was an extremly volatile liquid, bursting with potential energy. Which was fairly understandable seeing as how it was the basis of Ginto spellcasting. And Liam knew firsthand how powerful those spells were. So he handled said liquid with some care.
Keeping a careful eye on the small orb of Soul Silver floating above his palm. Liam still couldn't help but marvel at a metal dense enough to put tungsten to shame but yet somehow could weigh far less than one would think. Reishi sure was a hell of a thing. But he still couldn't help but be frustrated by how impossible it seemed. Stupid spiritual physics, not behaving like the rest of the world he knew. But at least he was finding this much easier than actual physics. There was something profoundly odd with that. Here he was creating matter from nothing and translating an ancient German cipher. Yet he still struggled with maths and physics in school. Was his Quincy blood helping him with this nonsense? Was he just some kind of savant with this? Or was it simply because the subject interest him he was doing so well in it.
Such thoughts were for another time. Right now he really needed to finish up working. He figured that it would make sense for him to start with something basic. It wouldn't surprise him if many other Quincy used Soul Silver to create odds and ends like arrows and bows. But thankfully Liam was hardly as archaic as that. So instead of something as clumsy as an arrow. He was building a bullet. Specifically one filled with the aforementioned Reishi infused water. One that hopefully would be quite useful in the future.
Provided it doesn't explode in his face when he pulled the trigger.

Well that was fairly fun. His first attempt at handling Soul Silver and it didn't explode in his face. It was certainly a much better result than he was expecting. After the results of his previous attempts at messing about with Ginto tubes when he first started out with this Quincy nonsense, the idea of his projects exploding in his face had always been something of a fear of his. Honestly, how was he to know that a few mispronounced words would get him such a violent reaction.
The Old Fart still hasn't forgiven him for that car. Liam swore he cared more about that vehicle losing its paint job than his own ward nearly losing a finger. But its not like he was expecting much from the elder Quincy. He stopped expecting anything from him since he was five. Checking his watch, Liam saw that the current time was approaching eleven in the evening. Considering he rarely even paid attention in class anymore its not like heading to school mattered. Hell with the money he was making from selling various odds and ends with he made from mundane technology. He could probably just drop out and live off that. In fact the idea was rather appealing to him.
With a short grumble, Liam waved his hand. Bringing forth another bar of Soul Silver from the ether to work on his next project. Stopping as the bar was half formed. Trails of Reishi still streaming off it from its half formed state. A much more ambitious idea forming in his mind. One that admittedly should have come to him much earlier. If he could simply create matter from Reishi with a wave of his hand, it stood to reason that he could easily do the opposite. And then possibly back again.
Snapping his fingers, Liam conjured forth some synthesized paper and began jotting down notes. Chances are he'd be here for a quite a while.

So far the theory was sound. After all it worked off the same principle that allowed him to waltz back and forth to White Desert without much trouble. His portal simply converted his body into a spiritual form and then back again. That said it was one thing to do it to his body, which thanks to his blood was a natural conduit for Reishi. It was another thing to change other objects into pure Reishi particles and then back again.
And that was what the tattoo was for. It worked off the same basis as the creation of Soul Silver. Since the metal was created by simply arranging Reishi into a particular pattern. One could argue that other objects could be created from Reishi so long as someone knew their "formula". The tattoo that currently graced his hand happened to contain a spell of his own creation. One designed to specifically to remember the pattern of Reishi that an object was made up of. Transmute it and them compact the resulting Reishi into a minuscule size and store it within Liam's body. As far as he was aware, the process was perfectly safe.
Its not like anything bad will happen to him from having that Reishi inside his body. He was used to channeling much larger amounts of power during his fights. So long as he didn't try to take away from the Reishi currently inside his body. He should be fine.
Hopefully. But of course, he wouldn't know until he actually gave his newest invention a field test. Something that he was actually quite excited about. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that this was his first real project that held a measure of power. The first devices he made were nothing but toys. His first bit of experimentation with Soul Silver was the spiritual equivilent of throwing a flask of acid at someone. Not exactly subtle or impressive. It was simply a basic chemical reaction.
This was something different. Something new, something lasting and clearly magical. His own Bag of Holding. Something that he felt would certainly making lugging future weapons around much more convenient in the future.

While admitidly he only took the Zanpaktou as a bargaining tool. He had to admit that even though he couldn't make use of its' full potential due to it already bonding with someone. Liam could indeed learn many things from the blade. Mostly things relating to his theories on Soul Purification. But still not enough for him to essentially perform surgery on his own soul in order to finally figure out how to fix what was wrong with the Quincy as a race.
"Onii-san. Are you sure this will help me?" The small specter of a young girl asked him. Poking her head above the desk from where Liam worked. Slowly forming the spiritual fabric around the slivers he had shaved from the stolen sword and ground down to a fine powder. The metal had been surprisingly robust considering how weak its wielder had been. Liam felt he had to praise whoever originally forged the sword. It really was a piece of work. But it seemed like it was able to contain far more power than it usually did. Most likely the potential for Bankai that most Shinigami had.
"The theory behind it is sound. And so far I've yet to be wrong on things like this." He muttered in reply, moving a free hand to rustle the girl's hair as he worked. The fabric changing from a formless lump into a much more recognizable shape a glove. A glove that should hopefully give him the ability to perform Soul Burial and make the Shinigami partially unneeded by removing one of their primary duties.
Picking up the glove in his hand, Liam gave it a once over. The material seemed a bit more fragile than what he was capable of. But that didn't really matter considering that he never intended to place it in a stressful situation except maybe for an emergency escape.
"Now then. You ready to see your parents again?" Liam asked, slipping the glove onto his hand. Getting a curt nod in return. "I'll come visit when I figure out how alright?" He chirrped as he placed his now gloved hand on the child's forehead. Watching intently as their body glowed before dispersing into blue particles of Reishi. Before that as well dispersed.
It certainly didn't feel like the standard obliteration of a soul. And since he had a sample of the girl's Reiatsu it would be a simple matter to track her down in the Rukongai once he figured out how the hell to get there.
