So like... how does NPCing for others work? Like, for example, say if I wanted to RP an NPC for someone else for plot purposes, or wanted someone else to RP an NPC for my plot purposes. How do we go about doing that with accounts specifically for our own characters?
p.s. This could totally be one of many viable applications for us normal pleb people having OOC accounts. /shot

sorry this got a bit long
Right well, as you can see in The example profile, the mini profile is a bit different. This is what happens when you create an NPC post, and it's activated by way of a plugin.
The way the plugin works (more details in the support thread), is that you select this sword icon in the posting page and it converts your mini profile into that of the chosen NPC which is freely removable, and you can make as many as you like. These npc 'accounts' don't receive their own plot points, don't have post counts, and otherwise are non-customisable except through the admin plugin edit page. This means that if you convert your profile BEFORE you post, your normal charrie account WON'T have a higher post count OR a higher amount of points. So they're literally npc accounts without making an account.
These NPCs can be restricted based on group but not by member (account), so currently this only really allows staff to NPC freely without worrying about accidentally adding points to your character accounts. Accidentally adding points is doable by only converting the mini profile to that of an NPC AFTER posting normally. So yeah.
but really only staff was kinda supposed to do this stuff in the first place tbh
So in order to allow members to NPC, there's two options I can do.
1) Trust you lot to not fuck up and accidentally give yourself points, so you can post as npcs and all is well.
2) Create an NPC-only group wherein you create another account, this account is automatically added to the NPC group, and you can access all NPCs from this (except staff-controlled ones like Ichigo/Bach/Yama etc). You won't get points, post counts won't matter, and you don't have a charrie on it. So by any other name, this CAN be an OOC account.
So yeah that's the deal for the most part. I haven't really decided what option to go through with it, mostly because I in all personal preference would rather if staff took care of any NPCing. But otherwise yeah, the decision is kinda in limbo atm.

Personally I like the idea of the first option (ex. the Rukia NPC profile), though I understand that there are plenty of slip-ups and abuses for that. And creating extra account(s) for NPC's sounds like a pain in the ass.
Or we could just have OOC accounts to use for OOC purposes + NPCing, and use them for like tourney events and stuff and any points earned on them through events or NPCing or whatever could be distributed (either evenly or more manually) to OC's RP'd by the OOC-account-holder.
Just saiyan
I should probably just give up on us plebs getting OOC accounts shouldn't I?
but no srsly, I like the sound of the thing done to make the Rukia NPC post

Solved and Resolved for the time being. One of the options will be decided in the near future.
