LIFE'S A BARREL O' MONKEYS, GO BANANAS
❝
Empty, desolate halls stood before him, panning left, right and center. Darkness swallowing up the destination of each path, as the piercing light of the moon cascaded through an open window. Shadows danced with imagination producing images one could barely distinguish from normal or hallucination, in the quietness of las noches there he stood, the subtle crimson glow of his visor the only other source of illumination. A shallow breath escaped the intruder's lips, echoing down the halls before slowly becoming whispers and murmurs in the shadows.
Rumors had it that a powerful shinigami once roamed these halls, a shinigami powerful enough to unite the most powerful hollow to his cause, now his domain lay as a tribute to his memory. A dream long crushed by the hands of the shinigami, as if he could take on his brethren and succeed, even the strongest of hollow were cut down like beasts in the war that ensued and there were whispers in the darkness of betrayal, but the white haired arrancar was not here to solve that mystery. No it was pure curiosity that brought him to this ruin, the palace of the gods or so called as they were before the war.
A sudden lurch in the building dragged him from his thoughts, the groaning of stone in sand was something to be expected from a desolate place, but even so it still managed to catch him by surprise, visor covered eyes moved in the direction of the sound. The scattering of rock and the slow but audible scratching of dust caught his ears again, this time confirming the hunch the intruder had felt tingling in his gut the first time he had heard it and every other time.
He was not alone.
Whatever he was looking for in these ruins, whether ghosts or antiquities from a moment long forgotten, it would find him soon enough. He need only wait, hidden in the darkness for whatever it wwas to finally rear its mysterious head.
"So, this is where Aizen and his lackeys resided," she concluded to herself. She had seen the fortress rising in the distance and found herself becoming curious. She was approached by agents of this Aizen before. But she never wanted to be involved. She had no interest in a war when she was still forcing out an inner struggle. One that kept stopping at a tie. She navigated the dark halls, abandoned. Desolate. After the war, the fortress became abandoned. The white sands of the desert slowly started to swallow the fortress whole again. But instincts forced her to be on gaurd. She was not alone. And right there, she made a slip up. The sound of a stray rock being kicked was eardeafening in the eerie silence that hung over the desolate halls.
She sighed deeply, folding her arms underneath her chest. "Whoever you are," she called out to the shadows, able to make out the outline of another being. "Show yourself." She had no idea whom or even what was hiding and stalking her. She couldn't even get a trace on the reiatsu. She was hesitent to use one of her abilities, Marca de la muerte, for the simple reason that it caused her reiatsu to spike. She could easily find out who or what lurked in the shadows, but it might've been seen as an offensive tactic.

As she spoke the lines of his visor seemed to glow a brighter red, illuminating the halls enough that his shadow stood out against the now tainted crimson darkness, it was only as the red light from his former hollow mask spread that he realized just how close they had been without discovering each other, which wasn't that close considering it was a good 10 or so meters, but that they'd gotten this close and not yet discovered each other's presence was in itself a cause for some slight alarm. For a moment he paused, using his vision to lock onto her, initial observation showing she was definitely strong, strong enough to give him some problem if it actually came down to it, but otherwise nothing he couldn't handle.
Something else gave him pause however, he wasn't able to place his finger on it, but something about her voice, the manner at which she spoke or rather called to the darkness seemed to make him take notice of her, he'd already ascertained from the voice that she was female but the more he began to take her in the more he began to realize just how stunning she was, even in the darkness her skin seemed to glow, the way it contrasted with her dark, piercing eyes and streaked hair and whatever kind of skin tight armor she seemed to be wearing that only seemed to accentuate her physique that dripped with a nasty concoction of beauty and deadliness. It wasn't uncommon to come across female arrancar, he'd seen his fair share in his time, but hers was . . . peculiar in the sense it was a foreboding beauty rather than a purely aesthetic one, one could almost say she capitulated the hollow race.
Whereas many would find her captivating, almost breathtaking he found himself equally just as wary of her, beauty like that was only good for one thing and he pondered whether he might even answer her demands, a breath escaped silently from his lips as he strode forward, allowing his figure to emerge from the darkness only slightly, the light from his visor growing stronger with every step.
Strong words from an intruder, calling out to the darkness to show itself. . . .just what were you expecting to happen anyway?
A light smile panned across his face, she didnt look like the type to draw first and ask questions later, but there was something betraying about her eyes that seemed to keep him just that little bit more wary of her, if he wasn't careful hers would be the only glorious pair of boobs he would see. . . . ever again.

One of her eyebrows quirked as the visor lit up the hallway, wich was already ill lit by the pale moonlight from the eternal night sky. Her arms dropped to her side and she turned around to fully face the unknown arrancar. A male posture, she couldn't see his full face. But, he was clad like a human. A casual bussiness outfit. Not suited for the harsh terrain Hueco Mundo possessed. One thing was sure, it was spotless. Free of stains or even blood. Pair that bussiness suit clean like that with a reiatsu she couldn't even detect. And like that, a rival presented himself. She was more than sure this arrancar could beat her right here and now. So she decided to take a more diplomatic approach.
The thought of just having to keep her body language in check crossed her mind and a slow smirk plastered on her face as he spoke. The soft smirk was followed by a light, almost musical chuckle, her eyes glinting softly in the dim light of his visor. "I was expecting a figure to appear. It seems I was correct," she started, "and I don't think this is intrusion. It belongs to none and houses none." She tilted her head as the corners of her lips twitched into a soft smile. "Though, I am glad we haven't come to blows," she said with the same smile. Not betraying the slightest hint of her thoughts. She was also sure it still could come to blows. This was, after all, still Hueco Mundo.

She seemedto be toying if not playing with some idea in her mind, there was no obvious look of fear in her eyes and from that observation alone he could deduce that she was a cut above the usual hollow he'd encountered, then again it wasn't hard given how menacing she looked, which was strange since he'd yet to see menacing encaptured so alluringly in a being such as a hollow. Noting that thought with a soft hum the arrancar let his lips return a grin of their own back at the female, it was humorous two hollow smiling at each other in los noches and either one was yet to draw their weapon.
The only reason it hasn't come to such is because you haven't decided to attack me. . . .
Part of him wanted her to, another part of him wanted merely to discuss the philosophy of intruding but then again he too was an intruder, they might as well have been two thieves robbing the same house discussing what breaking and entering really meant. She smiled at him again and again his mind toiled with marrying the ferocity in her eyes to her overall. . . .beauty, he shouldn't have been so fixated on it and yet it bothered him, like an onomatopoeia or two sharp contrasts in one it was strange and yet enticing all the more.
. . .or maybe I'm just glad to see you, then again I suppose stupid questions deserve stupid answers. . .
Referring back to his later questiom, he couldn't help but ogle her through his visor, it was an instinctive thing this body of his seemed to do and rather than just fighting it he let it happen, secretly glad somehow that it did so, his demeanour relaxed a little as he did so. She wasn't looking for a fight, which meant she had some other reason to be here, he pondered asking and risk having the question turned back on him, realizing he wouldn't have to explain himself to her a reminder that hung on his mind.
. . still I am intrigued as to why one such as yourself is here, I'm even more intrigued as to what your name is so I dont have to keep saying one such as yourself.
The soft lurch of the building followed by the soft grumble of dust and gravel silenced their conversation temporarily, the white haired arrancar temporarily becoming self conscious, more aware of his surroundings, once it became more apparent that it was just the two of them he allowed his attention to divert back to her. He didn't approach, nor did he retreat, choosing to remain between shadow and light, allowing the glow of his visor to permeate the room.

"Hm, I'd prefer to talk, rather than fight, for the time being," each word she said was carefully picked. Both of them could only guess eachother's power. Wich seemed to not only hold her back. She folded her arms, it was quite obvious her shape and gender attracted attention. In these wastes, it was a blessing, rather than a curse. A peaceful approach was just a tad more likely. And she would've hated to fight an arrancar who looked quite as sophisticated as the one before her right now. "My name is Lillith," she answered as she glanced at the small window that allowed for a crack of moonlight to enter. She was bad in tight halls, the battlefield here was at her disadvantage. If nescessary, she could easily bust through the concrete.
"Lillith Ijdelheid," her eyes settled back on the strange arrancar. "A name for a name. You are?" She demanded. There was no hostility in her tone, but at the same time, it seemed like she didn't feel like playing around. It was still a rather tense meet-up. Lillith had no idea what the arrancar was planning and why he was here, either. "Curiousity," she said regarding her reason of being present in Las Noches, "how about you?" She immediatly shot the question back at him.

Despite the name she still seemed to wary of him. Understood he was a stranger yes, but her's was a wariness that only seemed to add to the tension, as if somewhat expecting it to bubble over at any moment.
Hephaestus. . . most simply call me Burner
The name was accompanied by a courteous nod of the head but would not be followed by a last name, as much as he respected her as a fellow hollow and indeed even as commanding as she seemed he knew where the cards lay. If it came down to it he could wipe the floor with her and gazing into her fierce yet hypnotic eyes only served to confirm that she was well aware of it as well, still it was masked rather expertly and his gaze lingered somewhat awkwardly into the silence.
You can relax, my bite is worse than my bark.
He said with a soft humorous snort to accompany it, clearly he was the only one at ease right now, despite their current location, yes he had seen her eyes move taking it in, her mannerisms were so . . . instinctive, were she to apply herself she would've made a deadly assassin he was sure of it.
Had I wanted to kill you I would have before you even saw the glow of my vizor in the darkness
Moving a finger to his visor the arrancar gently slid it down to reveal teal eyes, one of which would close in a suggestive wink. It wasn't exactly the best thing to say to get her to relax, hell she might even become more wary of him, but it didnt matter to him. She was of no threat, once that was confirmed he allowed his curiosity to take over.
They say a powerful shinigami once made this place that we now walk on, I was curious to see it for myself since. It's not often we get shinigami down here for the long term.
His hand would return the vizor to his face before folding his arms across his chest.
But now I'm more intrigued as to whether or not you will come willingly or by force.

"Hephaestus," she said his name as if tasting it. She nodded softly. No last name? Perhaps he had none, perhaps he had kept it silent. Either way, Lillith didn't really care. A dry chuckle left her as he told her to relax. "I am completely relaxed," she lied. A lie so obvious it was more meant as some kind of comical relief rather than an actual lie. She was tense. He knew it. And she knew he knew it. The situation seemed to be slowly tilting in his favour. She mentally cursed her own weakness, but none of these thoughts shown on her physical guise.
She could almost hear her own heart throb when Hephaestus explained she would've been dead even before she saw the visor. While she gave him a sweet, almost spitefully sweet smile in response, she know that his words were true. And only now did she start to grasp the magnitude of his powers. Her thoughts and instincts were screaming to get out there as fast as she could. And she probably would be out of there within the blink of an eye.
But she had no idea how fast the other arrancar was. She always praised her own speed and agility, but now, was hit by the realisation that she was not the fasted around. But, again. Not even the slightest hint of her thoughts were betrayed.
She arched an eyebrow. "Let's speak hypothetically, if I was to come willingly, where are we headed?" She inquired, her voice still soft and sweet. Destination didn't matter, she knew she was going to get there, one way or another. By force or willingly.

Her response would earn her a light, jovial chuckle from the masked arrancar. Shaking his head softly in response.
Nowhere, it's always interesting to see one's reaction when faced with such questions, judging from your response im guessing its a question you're familiar with.
They'd been alone up until this point and even though the two of them weren't even speaking in hushed tones it would seem as though they would go on undisturbed. Perhaps this place was as ancient as they had assumed, either that or the rumors he had heard were simply that. . . rumours. Still he had managed to find another like himself down in the darkness and their meeting had somewhat intrigued him now.
Truth be told I do not blame you for being guarded, one doesn't go a day here without struggling to survive.
He moved this time, allowing himself to close the distance, approaching her at a calm and steady pace the arrancar made to observe their surroundings, illuminated by a soft, if not dim moonlight.
Gotta say your eyes are a curious shade, I've yet to see anything like them, maybe you could entertain me? if you're still cautious of me, it'll give me a chance to get to know you better whilst showing you my intentions are not what you assume

A test. A mere test. The smug bastard was testing the waters, judging what he could get away with what he could and couldn't. How far he could push it. He was good, extremely good in these small exchanges. While anyone that would watch the scene from an exterior standpoint, they'd almost see two adults having a peaceful talk. But she knew for sure that this wasn't the case. He was measuring her, trying to predict her moves, mindsets and personality. Someone much like herself. But she was at the losing side here. She could only guess as to what went on in his mind, but she knew that he knew about her being on guard like that.
Which he specifically stated. "A true fact," she agreed with, holding the same guise of neutrality. Not even making a move to step away from him. She still trusted her own speed to dodge any blow thrown at her now. "You're the first to compliment my eyes," she replied, giving him another one of those poisenously sweet smiles. "And entertain you how?" She inquired, eyes glinting softly. "And, it'd be much easier if you just explained your intentions, no?" She quipped, briefly inspecting her fingernails in a careless manner.
Well, there was trying. But she was almost positive he wouldn't just come out and tell her that.

She seemed quite content to continue the little back and forth they were sharing, no doubt a ploy for time to study him more, he was peculiar, unpredictable and most notably, strong and those were a dangerous combination for any being to handle. He knew that and she knew that, the very fact they were both aware of it only seemed to heighten the tension between them, every move seemingly thought out and calculated and yet at the same time so . . . .trivial.
The smile she shot him, as sweet as it seemed, reeked of venom, like a cobra baring its fangs in preparation to shoot and yet it was still so dazzling that the arrancar couldn't help but return one in kind. They were monsters the pair of them there was no denying it, but it seemed that her eyes betrayed her true nature whereas he sought to mask his behind a visor.
Well you seem so tense I figured a show of my true capabilities would ease any apprehensions you had about being able to best me.
A playfully ominous grin teasing his features now in flashes, it was hard not to get excited, the very atmosphere was electric all it took was one more spark and a chain reaction would be set off.
Think of it as a first date, I'll state me intentions after we get to know each other a little better.
He couldn't deny an immediate attraction to her, perhaps that was what had stayed his blade so far, there was something about those eyes that held a haunting mesmerism to them and he had difficulty pulling away from her gaze, if she were as observant as he assumed she'd have picked up on it by now, maybe she had and was using it to her advantage already, not that it would be a surprise anyway, the arrancar couldn't quite shake the feeling that there was something more than just bloodlust at play here.
