The way it is written and if it could be clarified or updated better
There are six sources for advantages:• Having a higher rank
• Having a higher mastery level
• Using a technique of higher tier
• Attacking with release-level techniques.
•Having an active stat boost such as x2 strength]
• A Quincy or Bount entering a Spiritual Realm like Hueco Mundo or the Soul Society.
So just to be certain with this first part that means in every interaction these things get taken...
When fighting your character's rank is taken, the tech tier of any technique used is taken, release level is taken and tech boost.
Just confirming this part and I ignored that location boost since I just going to base everything on Shinigami vs Shinigami for the sake of this
CLASHING!!!
So when techniques or attacks clash, the losing attack based on advantage count is weakened according to the difference.
With 1 advantage over the other, the winning attack is reduced by the weaker ones tier, to a minimum of Tier II.
A Tier IV attack against a Tier III defense will be reduced to a Tier II attack. Factoring in the Tech Tiers, the defender still had one advantage over the attacker. Because of this, the attack is reduced in power and the Tier III defense can block it without the defender taking any damage.
Remember the attack is lowered even though the defense is inherently weaker than the attack because the opponent has a larger amount of advantages than the one granted by the technique tier.
Offense vs Defense
t4 attack vs t3 defense
So the attack is one tier higher then the defense, but the defense has advantage over the attack?
So can you please tell me where the advantage for Defense better then Offense is listed??
With 2 advantages over the other, the winning attack is reduced by the half of the weaker ones tier, to a minimum of Tier II.
Example:
Person A's Tier III attack against Person B's Tier IV attack will be reduced to a Tier I attack. Factoring in the initial Tech Tiers, Person B still had two advantages over Person A. Because of this, the attack is reduced in power and the Tier IV attack will win.
Remember for the Tier III attack, it becomes effective as a Tier I because (3/2 = 1.5, rounded down to 1), so the attack will be reduced from Tier IV to Tier I.
Okay previous one said that with 1 advantage the winning attack is reduced by the weaker ones tier so t4 - t3 gets t1...
Now we have them also stating person advantages rather than just working with flat advantages so we can see the differences more clearly
So two advantages is half of the weaker one's tier rounded down to one. Can you at least just show each and every advantage not to mention no matter how you fight defense triggers once for technique and still takes defense of soul resilience afterwords as well so that would mean something rather Over Powered which I will reference now...
Subject A uses a tier 5 kido attack and has advanced kido
Subject B uses a tier 2 bankai release defense and has advanced soul resilience and bankai advanced
t5 Kido vs t2 defense = 4 advantages to attacker
no release vs release of bankai = 2 advantages to defender
kido mastery vs bankai mastery = 0 advantages
So that means the attack loses to that by 2 advantages which means you reduce the tier by half of the tier's rank which is 1
Soul Resilience advanced can block t3 and below so t4 is what gets through and after you factor in the defense of soul resilience then only t1 beginner damage is done
This means that with bankai you can block a kido 3 tiers above you and would mean that t7 kido can be stopped by t3 bankai release defense.
Are there things lost in translation or are skills suppose to do near to no damage in nearly all fights
DURABILITY!!!
Arrancar A, ranked at HL, has Hierro at Advanced. Shinigami B, ranked at HL, has Kidou at Advanced. Shinigami B fires off a Tier IV Kidou, since Advanced Hierro nullifies only Tier III the Arrancar is is struck for no damage.
So right here we have attack vs defense without any technique used against it
t4 kido = 4 advantages to attacker right?
advanced kido vs advanced hierro nullifies the advantages here = 0 advantages
hierro ability auto blocks t3 techniques but does this translate to advantages
so advanced hierro which nullifies tier 3 can essentially still tank tier 4 according to this example. Please just state that hierro nullifies t4 kido as well or correct this please
Arrancar A, ranked at HL-A, has Hierro at Advanced. Shinigami B, ranked at HL, has Shikai released with Zanjutsu/Weaponry at Mastered. Arrancar A has the advantage in rank but Shinigami B has the advantage in weapon mastery. Because of this, neither has the advantage therefore the Arrancar remains uncut by the shikai.
So as long as you get no advantages people are immune to damage, what are the points of the tiers?
Shinigami A, ranked at ML-A, has Soul Resilience at Above Average. Arrancar B, ranked at ML, has Hollow Techniques at Average. Arrancar B releases a Tier IV fireball. Because AA Soul Resilence blocks up to Tier III, the Shinigami has no advantage in mastery. However, he has advantage in rank. Thus, he has one advantage. Shinigami remains unharmed.
So what I get here is while defending you get the advantages of whatever technique you use to defend and you get advantages from the amount your defense blocks which means defense actually produces advantages twice... so either severe loss in translation or no one noticed this
