The training area had a large number of rounded targets and some floating via balloons as well as he had arrived sitting on the arms of the one training dummy as he swung his legs back and forth. Right foot front with left foot back, then left foot front with right foot back. He had some casual t-shirt with the words Kidoshu written on the chest, he was here for some casual training and to meet up with the other member of the kido corps. He was not sure who to expect and what they would do, but he understood as fellow kidoshu they should probably get on good terms with one another. He was beginning to wonder what kind of training they should do with all the training equipment around them.
He was barefoot today, since he did not really have any good fashion to wear which bothered him a bit. He wished to get a new outfit since his other one was torn and dirty from training. He also had a look up to the sky as the clouds were parting and the sun was beginning to show itself more prominently, he looked on at the sun wondering if humans could never look at the sun as he looked away afterwards due to the not yet gone, human instinct to avoid looking into the sun. He waited patiently as he began to wonder what would happen in their training session and would he be meeting a cool guy or a beautiful girl or would he be meeting and entire kidoshu army. He had some level of excitement building up inside his nervous restless body.

She strode brusquely to the training grounds, a dark cloud on an otherwise mostly overcast day, her hectic reiatsu making others extremely wary of approaching her as she stormed through, searching for where she was supposed to be. She'd been instructed by her superior to join another shinigami who had attempted to set up some kind of informal training meet between members of the Corps, but who would otherwise have been alone. Vanessa grew slightly irate as her boss had told her; "Yes, go go, he might be lonely otherwise and he'll get upset and maybe cry or something." in that hurried and grammatically strange way. Great. Nessa was on babysitting duty now. As if she didn't have better things to do! But she knew she'd get an earful if she showed up storming and made him upset so she took a deep breath and announced herself to Aoi, as if he wouldn't have been completely aware of her presence by the intense reiatsu she gave off constantly due to her zanpakuto.
"Aoi Sora?" god his name sounded like the protagonist in a terrible romance novel for middle aged women that Nessa hated but was addicted to reading. "I'm Vanessa Vårjen." She pulled down the long mask that covered her face as per regulation uniforms, and pulled off the head-wrap, unleashing a wild torrent of short but thick blue hair. She offered her hand to shake- it was glad in a bright metal gauntlet that extended up to her elbow- she had to be careful to be delicate and not crush his hand if he accepted hers to shake. "What is the agenda for today?" she asked coolly, not prepared to assert herself and take lead when it was his stupid fault she was wasting her afternoon here anyway.
After waiting for so long the boy was finally met with the presence of some stranger in a mask. The stranger took off their mask and revealed the face and hair of a beautiful lady. She said his name in a way that made it sound like she was unsure of who he was, but the fact that she said his name meant that she was the one. She would be the one to play with him that day, although he saw it as training and socialising others did not see it the same way given his appearance and childish nature.
She said her name was Vanessa Vårjen, which sounded funny inside Aoi's head as he imagined her being called Vivee or Vee two. How ever he was a bit too shy to let out a laugh as he kept sitting on the training dummy's arm as she seemed to have blue hair. Just like his name Aoi referred to his blue eyes, she was a girl with blue hair which made him think she might be a bad girl for dying her hair. Though he had been in the other world so long that she could just be a natural blue head, just like you had natural red heads.
She then proceeded to offer up her hand to shake it as he looked at her metal gauntlet and he was not sure how to respond. He was not a fan of handshakes and feeling uncertain about how to react he remembered something important. This woman was a member of the kidoshu just like him which meant they were partners as he dropped down from the training dummy as if deep in thought. He put his hands inside his pockets as he walked towards Vanessa. She asked him what the agenda was as he just stopped in front of her and looked down.
"Hi, I am Aoi. I am not good with shaking hands, but you can give me a hug if you want to" The small boy was really hoping to get one as he blushed faintly. He had an incident earlier of walking passed the Eleventh Squad barracks while being exceptional in kido which led to them bullying him with ridicule which he pretended to ignore. He was hurt and now there was someone who would not judge him, as that was what he had hoped for.

She was eyeing him suspiciously. Was this kid seriously a member of the kido corps? Did that t-shirt of his legitimately say "Kido Corps" on it? She felt like this was some kind of surreal trick or something but she had no choice but to go along with it much to her ire. He hopped down from the dummy, and proceeded to put his hands in his pocket, an obvious snub of her attempt to at least greet him cordially. She clenched her hand into a fist as he turned her down based on the fact that he "didn't like handshakes" and turned slightly pink with anger when he asked for a hug, her brow furrowing dangerously as her eyes narrowed and she drew herself up to her full height.
"No, I do not." she told him bluntly. "You do realize that that is not regulation uniform at all, don't you?" she asked him icily. "You really ought to wear your shihakusho if not your mask as well, we have an image to maintain." she said, annoyed someone would disrespect the honour of being in the Kido Corps with such blatant disregard for its uniform. This would be getting back to their superiors. She took a moment to inspect the joints on her gauntlets' knuckles; flawless as usual.
"So, are we going to stand around all day, or is there a purpose for us being here?" she asked him, hopeful that she could get this over with quickly.
She not only refused to give the small boy a hug, but she began to ridicule what he was wearing as well. Did she have no sense of fashion at all and it was not like he had a good uniform laying around either. He was annoyed as she berated him so mercilessly and threatened to report him for something to do with their image.
She then asked if their was a purpose as his expression went from shy and bordering on a need to be cheerful, to dejected and upset. The boy was now glaring at her with a pouty face as he allowed her to finish her stupid lecture.
He took a deep breathe and shouted at her loudly
"are you stupid?!!!!!!!!!"
As he then began to unleash a flurry of words to berate her berating. "not like I got a spare uniform after the last one got torn, and we suppose to be partners in the same division or do you think you can count as the kidoshu by yourself. Why should I wear a mask in front of a fellow member, you do not even know why you here in the training grounds. Training grounds are for training you jerk!!"
As he was fuming at how stupid she could be, was it not obvious that you train in the training grounds, what was wrong with this woman speaking as if she knew everything. He was in a really angst mood right now and his emotions were beginning to get heated as well.

Oh dear. He seemed to be experiencing some form of temper tantrum. She wasn't sure if she ought to laugh or not, but she really wanted to, and so bit her cheek to stop herself. He shouted at her, asking if she was stupid and she rolled her eyes before he began to whine like the brat he was. It was hard to believe he was being serious at all but she had to assume he was, which made the situation even more funny. Oh she was angry- yessiree, she was pissed off, but for now she could overlook it. The thing that tipped her over the edge was when he called her a jerk, and tried to imply that she wasn't aware of the purpose of where they were.
"I am legitimately surprised and concerned that they let a puerile child into the Kidoshu." she said, being honest. God she hated children. "Uniform is important- it instills and maintains discipline. Our masks are important- they help keep us and our operations safe. Advertising yourself in such a way puts us all at risk. Of course there are always spare uniforms in all sizes- even pint-size," she couldn't resist throwing in a comment about his stature, or lack thereof. "Mistress Blodeuwen is very strict about us being properly dressed. You ought to wear a mask here of all places, of course, because there are other shinigami here. Quite frankly, this is a poor choice of location. Finally I am fully aware of the purpose of this place; you must be weaker than I had anticipated if you believe that simply "training" is an adequate term to describe what exactly, we're meant to be training." she said, placing an ironclad hand upon her hip and standing sassily, her face exuding cool boredom.
He listened to her rant as he took on a calm expression before looking at her with a cold look of a stubborn lonely child who refuses to accept the notions of an adult more childish then him. He looked down as if to sigh before making a simple declaration.
"Let's duel, or are you all talk?" as he made his declaration of a duel which for members of the kido corps meant being flashy while defeating your opponent with skill and technique. He was not interested in hearing the words of some weak adult woman whose first assumption is that he is just a little kid. While the assumption was true, to point it out was still wrong in a way that only the emotionally or socially inept would make a mistake with. While it was probably not clearly understood by her, he was in the kido corps however his role had not yet been decided. There were positions for which the uniform itself was not even required ranging from liaisons who wore the uniform of a division to transport and communications who wore whatever was comfortable for the job.
Right now was not a time for talking, it was a time for training and a time to show who had the superior kido
"I would be delighted to." she said sardonically. The thing Vanessa found most annoying about herself was how poor she was at detecting how strong other people were- for all she knew, this kid could be the next Captain Hitsugaya. She didn't think so. Despite her poor abilities at measuring reiatsu of others she could tell when she was about to be completely overwhelmed. This was not a case. At a guess they were about evenly matched, but experience taught her that she tended to have the tactical advantage in these scenarios. Vanessa found that so many members of the Kido Corps were bookish, or at least very single-minded in their skillsets. Part of her, after all this time, still thought like a spy or a ninja, the way she'd been trained initially. It was hard to break that habit.
"In the future, however, you ought to listen to and respect your elders, and not so meekly disregard their advice." she told him, stepping back such that they were stood facing one another at opposite ends of the arena. She was almost certain that he wouldn't like it if she hit him but at least one of the kido she knew required it, but she knew she would be the one to get in trouble if he ended up crying. Jesus, the sooner she could get a transfer to comms the better. She'd even take a job as a butterfly farmer to avoid babysitting duty.
She said that she was delighted in their future battle that was going to begin. In a time of peace how else would one prepare for the moment you go to war. When there is peace talk, when there is war fight. He did not care much for how she said it or how she felt about them fighting as this would be a duel, and what better way to duel then with his first kido technique.
She then said a less provocative comment as he did not smile, but gave her an indifferent look that from a child would appear too mature or simply disrespectful as he answered her. "I will show you the respect of not holding back, respect is earned and right now whoever wins deserves respect"
He did listen to her advice, but her rude tone at the start is what led to this battle which could have very well been a misunderstanding. The girl who felt disrespect at a boy's childish appearance and care free presentation to the boy who looked to a snobbish adult who felt whatever they said was law. She took position as he took a deep breathe as well preparing for the moment when it would all begin as the wind began to blow.
He then looked sad as he pointed his hand towards and the fight began.
"Hadō #15 Ichiren Byakurai"
As lightning arced forth towards his opponent he would not hold back against a fellow member of the kidoshu as that would have been the greatest sign of disrespect. It was his time to shine and his time to train as his zanpakuto wondered why he did not simply use him for this fight, but he could not use his zanpakuto when he wanted her to respect his skill in kido
Name: Hadō #15 Ichiren Byakurai (Pale Lightning Chain) ** Class: Kido Tier: II Type: Offensive Range: Medium (Max 30m for 1 target, max 20m for multiple targets) Incantation: Carry the arched fool to the gates of torn hearts! Description: Fires a stream of electricity at the opponent at Bala speed which skips between targets that are within close range of one another. This can have a maximum of 5 affected targets.

Vanessa blinked. Clearly he had missed out on the seminal lesson in soul society for respecting one's elders, one's betters, and one's superiors. As far as she were concerned, she was the first two relative to Aoi. She heard the first several words before realizing he was about to cast Ichiren Byakurai. What a pain in the ass. Still, it was slower than hado 4, and if she flash stepped at the correct time she could avoid it. Before she did though she used the opportunity to begin her incantation;
"Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and iron, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! The nimbus swirls, Ash reeks, Soar on to the west! Hado thirty two," She waited until he'd launched the kido, and it was nearly upon her and then flash stepped, her speed apparently boosted by the fact she was engaged in combat, a single step taking her right behind Aoi, and launched the kido; "Okasen!" the wide arc of yellow energy exploding outwards from the gaunlet of her perpetually released Zanpakuto, so that it would be incredibly difficult for him to dodge, especially as she had launched it point-blank, and it had such a huge range anyway.
Name: Adaptation Class: Shikai Tier: II Type: Passive Range: Self Description: This ability is an augmentation that passively grants Nessa either double speed or double strength. The buff is given to the stat that she is weaker in, relative to her opponent. If her opponent has 2 strength advantages but 3 speed advantages, the buff goes to speed, etc.
When fighting multiple opponents this ability assumes the opponent with the highest rank difference as the opponent. If the opponent has lower attributes than Nessa in both strength and speed, this ability does nothing. If the opponent's advantage is the same in strength and in speed, then whichever is Vanessa's lowest attribute is augmented; if Vanessa's stats are the same for both, it is "random" (the player decides).
Name: Hadō #32 Ōkasen (Yellow Fire Flash) Class: Kido Tier: III Type: Offensive Range: Long (50m) Incantation: Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and iron, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! The nimbus swirls, Ash reeks, Soar on to the west! Description: Fires a wide arc of yellow energy at a target at x10 Cero Speed.
She began her incant as he expected her to as he wondered if she would use the same style as him. She was planning to clash with his technique using a kido of greater strength which would be counter productive. He did not put much thought into it as he began his preparation to defend himself. At this stage it was not clear what her style was, but he knew for one that this would be interesting and fun for him.
He was waiting for his moment as he had prepared his counter incant, he expected her attack to go through however she did the most predictable thing that he would have expected more from Kagami then anyone else. She released her technique Okasen with which he met her with a less flashy defensive kido "Seki" as a defensive shield was cast between them while it would not be the best of defences it would at the very least be strong enough to block out a kido up to the third tier. If she was as close as he heard her then she might get caught in the clash of these two techniques.
He did not wish to waste anytime as he then used shunpo to appear in the location she had originally been in so that he could begin his next technique. "Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws!"
He held his incantation as he awaited her next move, he was not planning to let her get that close too many times since she may have a kido above the third tier, not that he could not use kido of that level, he just did not have the time to learn the higher tiers yet due to how busy he was getting integrated into the kidoshu.

What Aoi had not anticipated was the sheer wideness of Okasen. The seki had such a small surface area that the rest of the kido would wrap around it, taking out some but not all of the force. He seemed not to anticipate that happening- likely he would be hit before he could flashstep away. It was the advantage of using a kido with such a large area of effect, that such a small spell as Seki couldn't block it. Nessa immediately followed him when he did step away, as she was faster she was able to beat him to the mark and when he landed and began incanting she wasted no time. She knew that the best way to stop a spellcaster from incanting and firing off a kido was to stop them from incanting at all. So quick as a flash, she punched him straight across the mouth with her large metal gauntlet, putting all of her considerable strength into the blow. She felt a little bad but on the other hand, she knew that sometimes you couldn't just reel off incantations. You also couldn't expect your opponents not to follow you when you fled. After attempting her punch she would be ready to react in whatever way was necessary.
The technique she used was pretty impressive though he felt it was like a glorified sokatsui as far as he was concerned. The way it blanketed over and eventually covered the area where he used the defense seemed like she was trying to capture him, or at the very least that was how he felt. He did not really like the idea of his defense being overwhelmed and he did singe his top slightly which was a bit annoying, and people wonder why he needs a new uniform. He felt he really needed to order extra uniforms for all of this training he had to do, like that day when he trained his flame techniques like mad as he began his incant it seems this woman was some kind of crazy homing ninja. Homing in on his location to attack with her fist instead of kido, why was she not in the assassination corps with the real ninja's.
She seemed to want to interrupt his incantation as he wished to surprise her she appeared before him, in an act of defense he began to tuck himself in as he attempted to cradle himself in defence as he just felt something hit him hard against his forehead and incidentally also his nose as he flew back whispering, "reflect, Kagami!!" as his blade doubled in length from being similar to a dagger or short sword, it was not long like a brilliant nodachi. He knew that he needed to support his kido if she wanted to use a gauntlet he would use his sword. She had the clear advantage when it came to overall abilities, but how much stronger was she really. During this time he lost his air time and crashed into the ground as smoke rose up from the collision. He got up all tattered as his hair was in a mess, blood seeping down his forehead and a bit from his nose as he sneezed the blood out of his nose and spat some from his mouth.
Why was a brute like this in the kido corps was one of the main things running through his mind as he awaited her next attack.

Vanessa was relentless. The brat wanted a fight? He wanted to show who was best? She would show him exactly who was the best, and so that involved showing no mercy whatsoever until he cried uncle. As he fell away, saying the words to release his zanpakuto, she was already in the midst of casting her next kido:
"Hado fifty, Tsuiraku Hoshi!" she cried out, her right arm still swinging from the punch, her left flying into the air where burning white hot flames erupted from her palm. She threw the kido, accelerating it to ten times its original speed. Aoi would likely not be expecting the kido to come at him so blindlingly fast, especially as he was mere meters away. As she threw, she in fact had to leap back so that she wasn't in the range of the kido when it went off, leaping backwards as Aoi staggered upwards, her punch having left him a nasty gash in his forehead and a possibly broken nose, as far as she could see.
She would wait to see the aftermath of her incredibly destructive spell before she continued to fight, as while she was determined to best him, she didn't want to kill the annoying little shinigami.
{Techs}Name: Hadō #50 Tsuiraku Hoshi (Crashing Star) ** Class: Kido Tier: IV Type: Offensive Range: Long (70m) Incantation: Up from the heaves, falling stars, come down and burn existence! Melt away the sins of the earth! Scorch all those who stand in the way of God, and burn the blasphemers into nonexistence! Description: The user will raise their hand into the air and a sphere of white fire will grow from their palm, before throwing it forth. When it comes into contact with anything solid it will explode in a diameter of 10m. Those at equal advantages will receive first and second degree burns. The flames remain for 2 posts, cooldown 4 posts.
Name: Energy Acceleration Class: Shikai Tier: IV(V) Type: Supplementary Range: 50m Description: Nessa can apply this technique to any kido she casts under tier VI while released. When she does, the cooldown of the kido in question doubles, and its speed increases to half bala. If the technique has no cooldown, the cooldown of this technique gets an extra post and the maximum speed is Bala.
As he flew through the air he did not release his zanpakuto just for show as the white light of his end was coming as he released his technique. The white flame hitting into him so hard it exploded largely as the white flames cleared he was standing some what unarmed other than the effects of the earlier hit. This which she probably did not fully understand, but which would have been more clear if she faced him for a long enough time.
His main objective was to create a defense between her and him so he could launch his next attack. He used his secret shikai technique mirror image as well as its passive ability to completely block the technique as he flew back a bit cause of his technique as he simply returned to the position of the image before the area cleared up so it would appear as if he took the hit unharmed. The white fire was powerful but its flashy nature made it hard to tell the results of the attack until after as he had his palm faced towards her and used the technique he prepared during the clearing of the flames debris as some flames stayed a lit around him, they were blocked but some were still floating around the area.
"Hadō #48 Onkyō Shakkahō"
As a crimson flame arrow head flew from him straight for her leaving a firey trail as it headed straight for her at cero speeds which she was probably used to if she faced any decent hollows. She wanted to be flashy while he wanted to create a burning explosion and turn this battle field to that of flames crimson red and ocean blue.
{TECH}Name: Reflective Reiatsu Class: Shikai Tier: 2 Type: Passive Range: 1 meter radius Description: A light passive aura appears around the user, it is not that clearly visible but its presence is felt when close. The reiatsu pushes back and reflects weak attacks away from the user and reduces the force behind an attack by one tier.
Name: Mirror Image Class: Shikai Tier: 4 Type: Defensive/Illusion Range: Self Description: The shikai creates an image that copies his appearance and reiatsu and pushes back the original in line with the image so his movements can not be seen when looked at with the enemies eyes. This is a defensive measure used as a last resort to escape dangerous situations. The opponent will feel the strike hitting before it shatters into tiny mirror shards that fall to the ground. The mirrored body also blocks the attack as well.
Name: Hadō #48 Onkyō Shakkahō (Echoing Shot of Red Fire) ** Class: Kido Tier: IV Type: Offensive Range: Long (50m) Incantation: Ye Lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! The scorched Earth bears the mark of your bane. The demon waits at the end of the twisted halls of pandemonium, eyes filled with furor, in the torrents of Hell! Description: Fires a screeching arrow-tip shaped blast of crimson flames. The speed is that of a Cero, and leaves a scorching trail in its path. Due to its shape, it may pierce through its target at equal advantages before exploding

Vanessa was in fact able to see perfectly well what had happened. Due to her backing away with an enormous leap, she had not been directly in front of Aoi's illusion when it occurred and so with her slightly birdseye view, she saw that he was shunted backwards- presumably by one of his own techniques as she had done nothing like that, while a dummy took the full force of the attack. But what he seemed not to notice was that the flames still remained- and he had even chosen, for what reason she could not fathom, to walk straight back into the fire. Did he not notice that although his shield had saved him from the initial attack, one of the strengths of Tsuiraku Hoshi was that the flames kept burning long after the technique had passed, so as he re-entered the huge sphere of white fire it would engulf him and he would find himself burned by the blindingly hot flames. She wouldn't even need to worry about him getting his counter attack off- he had voluntarily wandered straight back into her attack.
Did he really know so little about kido, that he thought that when he had blocked the initial explosion that he would be fine? Of course wandering back into an ongoing fireball was going to get you burned all over! It was all Nessa could to not to facepalm (an action she often avoided due to the pain it gave her, since she wore enormous gauntlets 90% of the time). It would eventually burn out but not before he had sustained severe burn injuries. Even she felt a little sorry for him.
The flames remain for 2 posts, cooldown 4 posts.
The boy was left with many severe burns as he had been taken to the hospital in order to recover from the brutal assault by the blue haired woman with the crazy gauntlet. He spent some time there before being escorted to his home by squad four staff as he went into his room locking his door and barricading it so as to not come out for days with a note on the outside. 'DO NOT DISTURB' in what looked almost like blood as he began reading through the books he borrowed from the library. He was reading about the absurd white flames and resolving himself to give up on fighting with crazy girls again, she belonged in the eleventh squad if it was not for her ability to use kido in the first place.
Traumatized and hurt by the fact that she demonstrated that she was not that good at kido, but that she was more of a hand to hand specialist. Why was she not in the assassin corps, so much about her made no sense and she was so rude as well and unbecoming of normal girls. She was like a Kenpachi inside woman's clothing.
For a few nights after that event he had nightmares imagining the woman with a demon tongue and because of that instead of fear he felt a deep resentment as she insulted the kido arts with her assassination style technique only relying on kido when she had the upper hand with her physical prowess. What good is kido if you need your hand to hand skills to even stand a chance of using any of it. She was lacking as his senior in his eyes and he would never forgive her for insulting the kido arts the way she did as he began reading like a studious bookworm
