The black boisterous clouds in the distance rumble as the incoming winds carry them towards land. Krystal smiles at the black monsters, the gusts pushing sections of the clouds faster than others, making the whole thing look like its own breathing living thing. The smell of iron, rain water and sea water wafts in from the ocean towards her, chilling her with its 65 degree cold front. The sun, setting off to the west is half hidden by the clouds and partially hidden by the horizon. The waves that roll up to shore piling up on top of each other building a calming rhythm that soothes the ears of anyone nearby. Hitting a button she locks the car, its horn beeping once with the headlights.
Krystal walks up to the shore, pulling her hair up into a ponytail and tying it up using a spare band that she keeps on her wrist. She walks, her shoes digging into the sand with each step until a crackle of lightning makes her stop and look over the massive dock mounted carnival, shut down from inactivity. A green tank top with a holster on her side makes her look more like a loose military bounty hunter than a civilian but she was neither. She was here for the carnival and its new inhabitants, the hollows that have found its many buildings and cubbies to be the perfect hunting grounds for stray kids, homeless people and your occasional date couple looking to do something 'new'.
Closer to the carnival she can make out the poles that suspend it up above the ocean on the off chance the the water level should raise. Everything however was water burnt, the flooding ocean kicking up spray to rust away any exposed metal during the nights of heavy wind and rough seas. It was a bad day to collect a hollow but she was happy with the rain, she was always happy with rain. Back in the deserts where she learned how to steel her nerves she never had rain so now every chance that she could manage Krystal spent it in the rain.
The mission was simple: enter the World of the Living, locate the target hollow, and subdue it. Then she was to notify the Soul Society and its Research and Development department of her mission, and they would send a team to transport the hollow back to the Soul Society for further observation and analysis. What they wanted the Hollow for Rin did not know, nor did she ask. Frankly, the Shinigami didn't really care what purpose the Hollow would serve. The female had her orders, and with every mission previous the blonde woman had carried out in the past, this one would result in the same outcome: success.
The Senkaimon opened, and once Rin stepped through its portal, the Hell Butterfly fluttering at her side disappeared back through the gate, returning to the Soul Society. The gate slid shut behind her, and Rin glanced around at the surrounding landscape she'd stepped into. The female had never been a fan of the World of the Living, nor did she see herself ever coming to enjoy the strange world. The only life she remembered was one in the Soul Society. It was a simple life, free of the bustling and whirling mess that this world was filled to the brim with.
The wind pulled at her hair as the female shunpoed into the abandoned steel structures, and she stopped when she was standing on top of the largest structure located within the grounds, a large wheel with several contraptions meant to be seats attached to its circumference. As the female landed, the seat she stood upon rocked back and forth slightly, emanating a creaking sound from it, before the thing stood still.
Hollows. She could sense them. There were several in the area, but only one of them was the one she needed. Until she figured out what that particular one was, her attacks had to be non lethal. Her orders were to capture the one alive, the others however, were expendable. But before she could start cleansing the pitiful creatures, she would have to locate the one she could not cleanse first.
Gathering herself she continues, climbing up a ladder built into the side of the pier rather than follow the path back to the front where she could take the front gate. Hopping up over the rail she stands, the carnival being shut down making the world look more like a nightmare than she could have imagined. Gage had not told her ahead of time that the hollow was holing up in the only run down amusement park but she should have made the connection when Gage said that he did not want to do it, something about clowns freaking him out and that they have too much face paint. Feet on the old wood she is standing at the edge of what was the old food court, shut down stands around the area, some broken down and some torn apart from the occasional teen.
Creepy place. Pulling out her phone she scrolls through some documents that she downloaded onto it just before she left. This hollow was unique, standing over 8 feet tall, slender and nimble it was wanted as it had the ability to clone itself mid combat. That was a unique ability, the ability to create duplicates of itself being more useful to Gage on the lab than if it were dead. Gage apparently needed it so that he could start running tests on it, getting its clones and using them as a near endless supply of souls. In reality it was a bit grim, the thought of all the death and damage that he was going to be testing on this hollow but even so it would be more helpful than harmful in the long run.
Flipping through picture after picture she stops and stares at one, the hollows head turned and facing the recording camera hidden on site by Gage. Gage had been here weeks earlier, and set up hidden cameras that would record only when there is motion. This hollow, like the past two hollows, would be either extreamly dangeous or it would be a breeze as there is no evidence that the hollow was more dangerous than any other hollows. The a beep on the phone catches her attention, a message from Lani started to scroll into existence, some kind of gate to the spirit world having found its way to her on the Pier.
Before the Soul Society sent Rin on her mission, they did key her in into a very particular thing about this Hollow, and if Rin had to guess, that was the reason why the Department of Research and Development wanted the Hollow so badly. It was, after all, exceedingly rare to run into a Hollow that could create clones of itself, even during the heat of battle. The female wasn't sure if they would have let her in on that little fact had it not proved to be a potentially lethal situation by withholding the information from her. Rin's loyalty to the Soul Society was vast, but she would not have been happy with the twelfth division if they kept information that could save her life from her.
Pulling her Denreishinki from the inside of her Shinigami robes, the female flipped the black phone-like device open, and tried to locate the Hollow, and whatever extra information the Twelfth division may have given her since her mission's briefing. An image of the Hollow had been uploaded, and the female opened the attached document, staring at the image until its unique appearance was memorized. It was tall, though there were many that far surpassed its height, not even counting the size of a Gillian. The unique thing was its proportions. Many Hollows were bulky, but this one was lithe and slender instead. Did that mean it was faster than the average Hollow?
There wasn't much time to ponder that thought before her spiritual pressure caught the attention of the Hollow in question, in addition to several others. The Denreishinki was slipped back into her robes, and the Shinigami reached to her left hip, unsheathing the Zanpakutou she kept there and holding it out in front of her. She stared at the face of every Hollow as they advanced on her, making sure that none of them were the ones she sought. Once she was certain the Hollow she had to keep alive was not amongst the number attacking her, the female sprang into action with a single Shunpo, and swung her Zanpakutou at the Hollows, easily slicing through their bodies and causing them to disintegrate into nothing as their corrupted souls were purged by her Zanpakutou.
Crap, another player showed up to the party. Whipping out her phone she suppresses her own energy to the lowest point that she could feasibly manage without having to concentrate solely on it. Dialing Gage she starts for cover, heading to a shack that once sold what looks like cotton candy. Ducking below the counter level she watches the ringing icon on the screen,"Come on, come on, come on. Pick up!" she hisses to herself as she starts to feel the uneasy sensation of combat nearing. She was not afraid of a fight but once when she had started her training and 'in processing' into the spiritual world she was told by Gage to NEVER engage the sword wielding Samurai that would show up from time to time. It was something that she had no problem listening to, her own instincts telling her that she needed to be as far from something that makes him uneasy as she could possibly be.
However that was a while ago and she had just received instruction that of all things that this particular hollow had to be captured, that it had an ability that could not fall into Shinigami, Quincy or any other persons hand. It was in itself a game changing ability that he needed and it would not be allowed to fall into the hands of Shinigami, their resources being vast but poorly utilized. Quincy were closer to his own mind set, their wants and needs being more realistic in their execution of the mission but even then they were biased, turning their backs on the humans that they were once devoted to helping. No answer, it would figure, he would have been here doing this himself if it were not for the fact that he had something that he needed to finish working on in the shop.
"Alright, I got this," at that she hits a button on her phone, the hood of her car popping open and releasing the suit from her back seat, propelling itself through the air like a missile on jets of fire and white smoke, colliding into her shed blowing the walls out and leaving her in a cloud of smoky rubble.
Though Rin understood the necessity of purging the souls of the Hollow, if the female could not manage to purge them with the blade of her Zanpakutou, she was not the sort to hesitate at killing them by using various other means, such as Kidou. Killing Hollow was not her directive, and she tried to avoid it, but there was a harshness to the woman that made her ruthless and cold especially in battle, and she did not show mercy. If something got in her way and it refused to listen to her direction, Rin felt she was in the right to deal with the issue, however she felt necessary.
Without even having to release the weapon that swung back and forth in her hand, the Hollows were slayed, their grotesque bodies disintegrate into nothingness, their calls of terror cut short as their purified souls finally found their way to Soul Society. It was a shame that the Shinigami could not perform a Konsou on every human soul who died and somehow or another was tied to the place of their death, unable to move on, their fate sealed to become a Hollow unless a Shinigami interfered.
Now, the only thing left to do was subdue her target. The blonde haired woman flash stepped closer to the now lone Hollow, her blade held in front of her as she focused on her target, formulating a plan in her mind. The order was a capture only, and the female would carry out her orders.
That was when something previously unnoticed caught her attention, momentarily diverting her attention from the Hollow and towards the ground, where she noticed a figure. Rin knew instantly that this was no ordinary human, if it was even human at all, and that this thing could see her. "Show yourself!" Though for the moment the female spoke to the other girl on the ground, that did not mean that in that particular moment, her attention was diverted from the Hollow, and if it decided to (foolishly) attack her while it thought she was distracted, that would be the last foolish choice the thing would be capable of making.
"Lets go LANI. We have a job to do." Work was work. Gage had given her a task and made sure that no matter what she would have the equipment to make sure that she would make it out alive. Standing up she looks around the settling rubble at a shiny silver suit, the polished armor opened in the back like a cooked lobster, the frame down on three points with two hands on the ground and one knee down. Stepping forward she takes a breath, slipping her arms and body into the cool embrace of the armor. Immediately the suit closes up around her, servos and motors clasping and sealing up around her making it air tight and damage resistant. In front of her face there is a HUD that opens up in a dim green light, cameras mounted to the head and back giving her a full three hundred and sixty degree view of everything around her.
Turning and walking out from the mess of broken boards and trashed refuse Krystal stands tall, "Lani, please tell me that Gage has had some time to arm this thing." Last time that she had to use the suit she was just learning about how it should be operated but did not have any kind of offensive armaments. That was his problem. He had so many different things going on at once that he never finished a single task. At this rate she was going to get herself killed in this bucket because he didn't get it ready for the field. "Of course mam, during your last visit to Central America Gage has installed three new offensive armaments, one defensive system and upgraded the pulse jets to the point of being weaponized."
Her mouth dropped open a bit,"Huh, no shit?" that was a bit out of character. She was only out of town for five days and he was able to retrofit this entire system with weapons. "Well lets say hi then.""MY NAME IS KRYSTAL. I AM HERE ON ORDERS TO COLLECT A SPECIFIC HOLLOW, I HAVE NO ISSUES WITH WHAT YOU ARE DOING OR WHY YOU ARE HERE. JUST LEAVE TO TO FIND IT AND WE WILL BE FINE." Inside the helmet the HUD pulls up readouts on the weapons, going over internal system checks so that they are fully functional should they be needed.
