APPEARANCE
Senza appears in his late teens. His youthful look has a worn feel to it as he has suffered many things. Standing roughly 1.9m tall, he is very thin for someone his size. Since coming to the Academy, his body has filled out and he no longer has the look of a severely malnourished boy. People don't really see how skinny he is because of the shinigami robes and cloak he wears. He has black hair with a blueish tint that can only be seen in bright light. Which is hardly possibly since he wears a full-length cloak, complete with heavy cowl, nearly all the time. His most striking feature is his eyes. While most others have a solid iris, his is multi-hued blue (think Blue Tiger Eye, but no brown), and can appear to visibly change multiple times as the direction of light changes.
His zanpakutou, which is a black and platinum colored tonto, is hidden within the right sleeve of his shinigami robes. It is easily accessible to him. Because of the color of his weapon, when he activates shikai, most people think he is actually pulling the kodachi out of his cloak instead of releasing his shikai.
PERSONALITY
Due to his life while growing up in Rukongai, Senza finds it hard to really trust anyone. Even those he considers friends that he has met during his time at the academy. He’ll talk with others, even about his past, but, he has simply been lied to, stabbed in the back, and betrayed too many times by those he had thought were his friends.
And because of his history before the Academy and joining the Gotei 13, life taught him that survival is everything. Not personal greed, love, friendship, hatred, jealousy, or enjoyment was worth sacrificing his life for. Granted, this view point has softened slightly since being assigned to Division Six.
As a result of his attitude, he doesn’t care to join in on parties and functions unless forced to do so.
Other than that, he would prefer to be in one of the various libraries studying or one of the practice yards working to become stronger and better.

HISTORY
Senza has not had a good life. Born in the 78th district of Northern Rukongai, his mother left him soon after he learned how to walk without help. She felt that he was a constant reminder of what had happened to her 10 months prior to him being born. Not that it was much of a change for him since she barely took care of Senza. Some in the district did take pity on him and helped him along with what little they had, but it was just enough to keep him alive. As he got older, he quickly learned what it took to survive in one of the areas often called Hell. Since he was never very strong, he relied upon his speed, agility, and keen mind (when he wasn't weak from sustenance deprivation) to get him out of whatever sprang up around him.
By the time he reached the age of 14, he began having strange dreams. When he woke up from one, the other kids who were with him kicked him out. One of them said that Senza had called up shadows to eat their souls, though none of them had been touched. Crying as he ran away from those he had thought were his friends, Senza wasn't aware that the direction was taking him towards the North Gate of Pure Souls. By the time he reached the third district, he passed out from hunger and exhaustion. And it wasn't a simple stop and drop, he plowed in to a shop.
Once Senza awoke, he found himself bound with his hands behind his back, four people in black robes surrounding him, and on his way through the North Gate. Looking back, he saw the huge difference between Rokungai and where ever it was he was now. After getting pushed forward because he was moving too slowly, Senza simply focused on keeping his head down and wondering if this was where he was going to meet his end. Just as his stomach rumbled, the group stopped, and he was unbound. Rubbing his wrists where the rope had held his hands, he looked up as 3 of his guards walked back the way they came. The one that remained simply motioned for Senza to follow him in to a building.
Once inside, he noticed plenty of people around, all wearing robes similar to the man he was following, but colored in a fashion he didn't know what they signified. Stopping short of one room, he was told to wait outside until asked to come in. He stood by the door as told. As the ones in the colored robes went by, many of the men who looked like they had been lucky enough to get more than a scrap or drop of water a week, pointed, laughed, even made rude comments to their friends. Even some of the girls made fun of him, though you wouldn't think it with the way their hands covered their mouths. But he had been alive long enough to know what that meant.
When the door finally opened, Senza was sitting on the floor with his back against the wall, head buried in his arms. The shinigami thought Senza had run off until the man looked down at the lump of rotted clothing next to the door. Scooping the small child up, he carried Senza in to the room and set him down in a chair that could have held two children if they were in the shape that Senza was.
"I wonder what you brought me this time, Nikoli." one voice said from across the room.
"A child with potential, if given a chance." Nikoli replied, laying a hand on Senza's shoulder, before it flinched away. Nikoli sighed and put his hand on the back of the chair instead.
"Assuming an urchin like this can even be taught. What makes you think this scrap, and I'm being generous when I say scrap, has potential?" asked a female this time. The distaste at having someone like Senza in her presence could almost be felt. The child couldn't tell if it was simply because of where he was from or the condition he was in.
"We were in here for nearly an hour, discussing other matters before I brought him up. He could have left in that time. Run back to Rokungai and disappeared without anyone here knowing until we looked for him. The fact that he stayed shows part of that promise. And, he hasn't been told where he's at." Nikoli replied, once again.
"I know where I am," Senza stated, head finally coming up to look at everyone in the room, "I'm here to be punished for destroying a shop in the Third District, which I've been told is death for anyone from the 78th District. I have no need of a blindfold and do not care if it is painless or extremely painful." he finished in a voice laden with resignation. He made sure to look at each person in the room and memorize their faces while he waited for their decision on how to end his life.
After a few moments of silence, and being stared at, Senza furrowed his brow. Had he mistaken the situation, he thought to himself shortly before Nikoli and the other man burst out in laughter. The woman simply bowed and shook her head before motioning the other two in to silence.
"Child, this isn't a place of death, but of learning. You’re in the Academy for future Shinigami." The woman said, "And I think you have much to learn. Nikoli, you still have a good eye for potential. Get him cleaned up, fed, and in to some new clothes. Something appropriate for a student."
"At once, Head-mistress." Nikoli replied before ushering out Senza.
Once Senza was outside, the Head-mistress gave a small shudder as she thought of looking in to the child's eyes. While they seemed blue, it also felt like it was trying to pull her in to them physically. She made a mental note to keep an eye on the child, personally.
Shortly after having his first real bath since being born, and dressed in something that wasn't tattered, Senza enjoyed a full meal. Full to him, snacks to most of the other students. And since he didn't officially start class until the next day, he was free to wander about the school. He checked out the training grounds, the dorm rooms, and finally the library. It wasn't something he had let on to while living in Rokungai, but Senza had taught himself how to read and write, if barely legible. While in the library, he asked one of the librarians to assist him in learning how to write better. While working on his penmanship, he wrote something that wasn't in the book he was being taught from. Kibō no Suwarō, or 'Swallower of Hope'. He tried looking to see where he may have gotten that in the book, but wasn't able to find it. Glancing at the clock, he passed it off as being tired given the late hour. Putting the books away, and folding up the sheets of paper, he placed them in his pocket before departing and heading to his assigned room.
Once in his room, which was actually a single room since he wasn't officially a student until they tested him, Senza tried to sleep on the bed. Finding it uncomfortable, he moved to the floor, taking only the thin sheet for cover. Finally comfortable enough to sleep, he fell in to darkness.
"You think they'll accept you?" A mocking voice said from the darkness.
"Whether they accept me or not, I continue to live. It's more than former associates would have done for what I did to that shop." Senza replied, trying to find the source of the voice.
"And is your life worth living? Conceived by rape, discarded by your mother for being a burden and reminder, never trusted by those you thought were friends, what makes you think you have anything to live for?" Asked the voice again, this time in a more sinister and mocking tone.
"I think someone in this position would say Hope, but I have never known what hope is. All I've known is the fight for survival. Hope is a luxury for those who have had time to dream." Senza replied, finally spotting a set of eyes amongst the void. He would have simply said that the area was devoid of light, but that explained the area he was in. No, those two eyes weren't devoid of light, they swallowed light's very existence, creating something darker than black.
"Hope is for the foolish, the light-hearted, and the dreamers. Let it swallow them up while we deal with reality and survival. Hope is a vanity we can ill afford to let grow when we know it will only bring pain and sorrow. Don't let hope in, otherwise you'll destroy us both.
"What do you mean, we? The only one here besides a voice in the dark, is myself."
Like a curtain pulling in to itself, a grayness that appeared bright began to appear as the void formed in to a small cloaked figure. The cowl was pulled far enough forward that only the dark eyes could be seen. Once the void finally stopped flowing in to this being, it looked at Senza. The figure stood about 1.2m in height, no feet or shoes could be seen beyond the hem that kept trying to slide back around the area. For the first time in his life, Senza felt true fear. Dying by someone else's hand would simply force him to be reborn somewhere else. He felt this thing could destroy him completely if it wanted to. Yet, he felt a strange connection to this being.
"I don't like taking form too often," it said, allowing Senza to finally pinpoint the voice, "And by we, I mean you and I. 'We' are one and the same."
"I don't understand," Senza replied, weariness starting to pull him from this realm.
"I am your power taken form. Let us show others that Hope is a wasted emotion and that one needs survival to live in this world." It answered, touching Senza on the forehead, the realm shattered as Senza sat bolt upright, hand immediately going for the spot where Kibō no Suwarō touched him. It felt ice cold, but warmed to his normal body temperature quickly. He then realized that he knew the name of the being that he has been talking with. Laying back down, he drifted off to a sleep with no dreams.
In the morning, one the sky was overcast and rainy, he felt comfortable for the first time since he could remember. After being escorted to the testing area, Senza went through the motions of the various tests with the feeling of failure. Once the tests were concluded, he waited for the results instead of fleeing for Rokungai. A few moments later, the results were posted and he had scored the highest result.
"Survival will beat Hopes and Dreams every time," said a voice in the back of his head. Senza simply nodded and went in to the Academy to begin his training.
Since he had already learned the name and command of his Zanpakutou, Senza advanced in Zanjutsu rather quickly. While not as strong as most of the other students, he was usually able to win be either outlasting them, or simply getting enough hits in to be declared the winner. This did lead to many of the older students’ resentment against him. And they would often take it out on him during Hakudo training. He came close to dying a couple of times during the course, and was saved by luck that a teacher happened by. He would have started to foster hope if those students had been punished beyond a mere slapping of the hands, but they weren't. As the training sessions became more intense, Senza would often train by himself against sets of dummies that he would set up in the forest. By the time the Hakudo training ended, he was proficient enough that he had to only rely upon himself for defense.
Graduating quickly, no more than two years, Senza was placed in the 6th Division. Unfortunately, so were the ones who had bullied him. They were even placed above him as they were given seats right out of the Academy. Over the next 100 years, he applied himself to every challenge that he was given, surviving where others probably wouldn't have. He also began to move up within the Division, eventually outranking the bullies, though he never let them know until the postings were listed. They feared that he would take revenge on them, but he never did. Revenge was also against Survival as it placed one in harm’s way for no reason but the vanity of Hope in repaying a transgression.

Name:
Tier: Class: Type: Range: Incantation: Description:KIDOU SPECIALISATIONS Eishōhaki (詠唱破棄, "Incantation Abandonment"): is the skill in which a Kidō practitioner skips using a spoken incantation completely, but it drastically weakens the spell. This is applied as a 1-2 tier drop in the spells power depending on ones Kidou mastery, 2 for Beginner up to Advanced, and 1 for Mastered and above. However this also lowers the spells cool down to match the lowered tier, to a minimum of Tier I, e.g. A Tier IV Kidou be cast with Eishohaki as a tier II, its cool down will also be the same at 0 posts. BATTLE SKILLS Name: Wing Chun Class: Hand to Hand Style Type: Supplemental Range: Self Description: Wing Chun is a heavily spiritual martial arts. It's said to be learned mainly by monks, but it appears often outside of Buddhist temples. Wing Chun is yet another non-sport Martial Arts, and rather then even a self-defense only art, is often taught to rather learn equality and power amongst the soul. It's used as a way of relaxation, and a way of spiritual alignment. Wing Chun is incredibly unique as a martial arts, as most do not have fluid aerodynamics, meaning if your punch fails to connect, your posture, stance, and movement is affected. With Wing Chun, none of that is effected, such a way of fighting is called Uncommitted Techniques, and from such a way of fighting a user of Wing Chun can easily link together attacks with fluid, damaging motions, and even if one or two do not connect the combo is not stopped. Wing Chun is hard to learn outside of being a monk. While certainly you could go and learn from a teacher who was once a monk and knows the style, it's incredibly unlikely. Because of this, Wing Chun is incredibly rare to the outside world, and as thus lacks very little counter play on how to fight against it. Name: Ekitai [Liquid] Class: Hand to Hand Technique Type: Supplementary / Offensive. Range: Self. Tier: II Description: Ekitai is a technique in which the user of Wing Chun utilizes their natural ability to string together and connect movements with forceful strikes with the side of their hands. Ekitai is a group of hits while moving around the opponent, the maximum being 11 hits while the least being 1. The use of Ekitai is not to deal tremendous amounts of damage but to rather hinder the opponent by hitting places like the calf, shoulder, and other press-points to induce numbing where it hits and eventually cause permanent loss of control if done constantly. Name: Hebi [Snake] Class: Hand to Hand Technique Type: Offensive. Range: Self. Tier: III Description: Hebi, or snake, is half of the side of a story of one of the founders of Wing Chun. It speaks of one of the first masters of Wing Chun watching a crane and a snake fight, and he watched how quick the snake snapped at the crane, and how fluid his movements was. This master, one of two, taught what could be considered to be the yang of Wing Chun, teaching his disciples how to dispatch of enemies quickly and coldly. Hebi was one of the main techniques, which was a play on a pressure point on any part of the body with such power that it caused permanent damage. Instead of relying on a pressure point, though, the user can enhance his attack with his own spiritual energy and slam his hand into a limb of the opponent as a jab, and as long as it locks into a joint it will cause the nerve-endings to die from the impact, rendering the arm useless (unless they can control it without the nerves). Name: Kureen [Crane] Class: Hand to Hand Technique Type: Defensive. Range: Self. Tier: III Description: Kureen, or crane, is the second half of a story of some of the founders of Wing Chun. This side of the story speaks of a second master watching the fight with interest, but instead of focusing on the snake, he watched the crane. Whenever the snake would go in to bite or kill, the crane would dodge away with grace and knock him back, promptly returning its own attack back onto it. From this, he taught his own disciples the way of "Kureen", and followed the way of yin, to show how ones mindless brute force could be used against them. By taking in the impact of any ability on any part of the body, the ability will be instantly rebounded, dealing no damage to either the user of Kureen or the user of the ability, simply deflecting it off any part of the user's body. Name: Za dākunesu sae horaizon (ザ・ダークネスさえホライゾン) Darkness Event Horizon Class: Hand to Hand Technique Tier: III Type: Offensive Range: Self Description: By flipping up onto their hand(s), the user spreads their legs wide enough so that as they spin on their hand(s), the opponent is met with repeated kicks, all focused upon the same location. Due to the balance of this technique, the user can easily jump out of it without losing their own balance in the process, and proceed to attack normally. Just Panchira Torunēdo [パンチラトルネード, "Panty-Flash Tornado"] renamed. Name: Shunpo (Flash Steps) Class: Stepping Type: Stepping Range: N/A Tier: I Description: A movement technique that allows the user to move extremely quickly over short distances. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. Therefore what determines the level of skill in a user for Shunpo is best characterized by how fast one can get from A to B in the least amount of steps. ITEMS Heavy cloak with overhung cowl. REIATSU FEATURES Senza’s reiatsu forms as a swirling purple and black vortex of energy. The black energy seems to be constantly trying to swallow the purple and surrounding light. Even with his limited control at this time, Senza can increase or decrease the size of shadows to allow him to hide. ZANPAKUTOU |

"Shatter the Light, Kibō no Suwarō. | |
SEALED FORM 60cm full black Kodachi with a .3cm platinum edge. SPIRIT APPEARANCE A handsome teenage male that looks like a shorter version of Senza, wrapped in a cloak made of a black void that constantly tries to swallow up any light that is nearby. The cowl is usually pulled as far forward as possible, making it extremely hard to see anything but his eyes, which are akin to black holes. Nothing seems to escape their gaze. SPIRIT PERSONALITY Kibō no Suwarō is a cold and heartless being focused on survival. He feels that Love, Hope, and other strong emotions are extremely useless, and feels that it is his mission to open peoples’ eyes to the Truth as he sees it. And he won’t release any techniques unless Senza is able to figure out a way to defeat one of his challenges. INNER WORLD
The world in which Kibō no Suwarō (Swallower of Hope) resides is a desolate, barely visible landscape. The only light in the place is that rays that are being sucked down by the intense gravity created by the vortex at the center of the realm. While Senza can resist the pull for a while, Kibō is completely immune to the effects.
SHIKAI
SHIKAI APPEARANCE ShikaiThere is a short black chain on each kodachi that connects to a small forearm bracer on each arm. SHIKAI ABILITIES Name: Yami no Sokudo (Speed of Darkness) Class: Passive/Stepping Tier: II Type: Stepping Range: N/A Description: Yami no Sokudo is a passive ability that Senza is affected by while in Shikai or Bankai (once achieved). He is able to use Shadows to enhance his Shunpo stepping technique.
At this time, he has to use a shadow that is of similar dimensions as him or larger. This does not actually increase his actual speed, only the distance in which he is able to travel using shunpo
Name: Yami no Tsubasa (Blade of Darkness) Class: Release Tier: Variable (Tier I-IV) Type: Offensive Range: Medium Description: Yami no Tsubasa is a wave of darkness that consumes a limb of the target. Activated by swinging either kodachi, a blade-like arc of black energy flies towards a target. Upon impact, the energy wraps around the limb instead of trying to slice through. It causes damage by draining the reiatsu and strength in the limb as the darkness is consumed by the light. Most of the pain isn't caused by the drain, but the popping of bubbles against the skin from the darkness bubbling away. Reiatsu-toughened skin is weak against this attack since it primarily drains Reiatsu. This attack will not work with a headshot because Kibō no Suwarō wants the victim to see the damage that is caused and lose hope. Once the shadow has completely evaporated, the skin underneath looks potted and burned.
Duration equals the tier it was fired at (i.e. Tier I = 1 post, Tier II = 2 posts, etc., etc.,). While Senza can fire off Tier I through III in quick succession, Tier IV require a 2 post cool down and limits him to Tiers I and II during the cool down. Tiers I and II move across the battlefield at Bala speeds. Tier III moves at Soukatsui speed, Tier IV moves at Cero speed for the time being.
Name: Shadō saito (Shadow Sight) Class: Passive Tier: II Type: Illusion/Perception Range: Self Description: While in Shikai, Senza is able to see and hear in complete darkness, including zones created by others or himself. Also, he is able to follow people who use shadows as a form of movement.
