Ariu yawned softly as she settled into her seat as she leaned back, looking over her desk with a pleased little look on her face, more than content with her day, having hardly run into any issues and not even a late book to have to notify anyone about. She allowed herself a little silent giggle as she folded her legs and looked around. The library itself was.....small...homey. Only two rooms, large as they were, a fiction and a non fiction section. It wasn't tiny naturally, but it was hardly very big. Lightly swinging her feet behind her desk, she lightly began playing with a few strands of her hair as she glanced outside. The Library itself was actually right across the street from one of the many temples that filled the town, or at least the path leading to it. Flanked by two small corner stores, she got.... reasonable traffick into the shop, but it was that nice sweet spot between horribly busy and kinda lonely.
Glancing up at the clock she noticed that she had a good half an hour before the end of her shift, smiling a bit as she reached for a volume behind her desk, figuring there would hardly much to wait for as she simply started reading quietly, glancing up now and then as a particular young man drew her attention, a little one with a penchant for wiping his boogers on tables.
Gage hustles, eyes darting down to his watch, the time telling him that the library closes in thirty minuets. While yes he can get back and turn his books in before it closes he absolutely hates being 'that' guy. The guy that shows up five minuets before closing time and has stuff to drop off or paperwork to do. Naturally Gage would avoid the shrines across the street from the library, the large amount of souls that tend to wander around the buildings slightly disorienting and even more so distracting. Staying on the opposite side of the street he avoids eye contact with anyone out here, the chance that they might be a spirit to high for his own comfort.
Its not that he dislikes souls but he just doesn't have time to play soul soother right now. That and he wanted to get into the library before Ariu closes up. It has been almost a year and in that time he has made few friends, clicking with Ariu almost instantly like they knew a little more about each other than most others did. It was nothing significant but it settled his nerves enough for him to be friendly. Pulling the front door open he pulls off his ball cap, folding the bill and sticking it into the back pocket of his jeans.
Slipping his satchel bag off his shoulder he waves a little and walks up to the counter. "Hey, I got those books back. They were just what I needed but," Gage flips to halfway through one of the books and points at a page,"it seems like som'one has ripped this whole page out. It was gone when I got it I swear." Pulling his satchel bag back on he pulls a small slip of paper out of his pocket with the title to a few more books scribbled onto it.

That smile immediately spread wider across her features when she spotted Gage. It wasn't often she clicked so well with one of the patrons, but he certainly seemed to have a certain friendly charm about him. Once she spotted him she immediately waved in his direction, standing up and makingnote of the books he was returning. She did however falter a bit at the mention of the torn page, eyeing the volume for a moment as she noted the cereal number. After a brief moment she looked it up on the computer, taking only a few moments before nodding her head. "Ah don't worry. The damage has already been documented. We were actually going to send for a replacement copy." she noted softly, lightly patting her neck as she accepted the books, slipping them into the box before glancing at the sheet of paper, smiling just a little bit. She loved how into reading he was, and even moreso that he read so Often. "More books on your shopping list? It's a little close to closing time." She pointed out, glancing up at the clock as she lightly tapped her foot. "It might be a little past closing by the time you actually find them. If you like I can take the slip and hunt them down for you tomorrow, then have them ready for you when you come by later in the day." She offered.
Gage smiles at the courtesy, its not a common thing out here to find such home town behaviour. "Yeah, I know its late, I can wait to get the books another time. Its not a big deal." He stands grinning, a scruffy days worth of not shaving showing on his face. A thick black grease smear spreads from his jaw bone to his earlobe from where he wasn't paying attention and scratched an itch. Her offer to pull the books for him is a reminder that she either is being nice to him or he is overly reading into their friendship and she does this with all the visitors to the library.
"That'd be 'mazing. I just have a hard time slipping away from the shop any sooner and more than once I have shown up with the doors already locked." Slidding the paper over to her she can look over his several books, one an older western that plays towards his country clothing and leather boots. The others are all work related on some general theories on mechanics and some vocational books on repairs. Getting a tingling sensation behind his ear he rubs it with his thumb, the sensation being a symptom of being near a soul that has been unable to rest. Chopping it up to just a spirit from the temple across the road he dismisses it chewing on his lip a little as a small chill runs down his neck. Hiking his bag up he slips his hand into a pocket and tries to keep making small talk. Perhaps one day he would be able to get the guts to hang out with someone in this town without having to be at his shop or at their work.

Ariu smiled brightly as he seemed to like her idea, slipping the paper into her desk drawer as she glanced again at the clock. It was about time to close up, a shame as it would have been nice to keep talking to the young man. A sudden spiritual pressure snared her attention. A hollow? She took a koment, not quite sure exactly how far away it was.... She looked to Gage and smiled. She didn't want him to get attacked if it was lurking around the library, hut how would she justify following him out? Sure they were friends but she imagined it might be a bit creepy if she just started following im for no reason....
"Hey, ummm, If you don't mind, how about I walk you home? You uhhhh, well its knda late and usually I iust head home on my own." Alight so she was mose shit at coming up with an excuse to escort him ou, but then again this had never actually happend before, she almost never found hollows around here with so few people. But she'd worry about that later, for now she just needed to make sure Gage made it home safe. The feel of her quincy cross around her wrist was some comfort, thankful that she made it a habbit to keep it on her person.
Chewing on his lip Gage actually starts to rub the spot behind his ear, the sensation changing from a tingling to an itch. The back of his mouth along the edge of his tongue starts to water, an iron taste of metal signalling that this is no simple spirit. Its a poltergeist, a soul that is bound to the surface world to torment and maim as they please. If it truly is stalking the area, the temple across the street with its multitude of souls must have drawn it to bear, the few blocks around being some kind of modern day hunting ground of iron and concrete.
Gage didn't like the idea of sneaking behind Ariu to keep an eye on her but even more than that he disliked the idea of leaving her to walk home alone. Gathering his muster as best he can he takes a breath to ask a question that he had not been expecting to for...well...any reason. Just as he is about to ask though she speaks up asking him to walk with her, the hour of the day making her want to travel with a friend.
"Oh of course not," this is perfect, I literally could not have planned this better,"Where do ya' live? I stay in a loft at Maybel and 22nd, I can always walk you to your place and head home from there. I know its a little late to be out here alone anyways, never know about the crazies out there anyways." This way Gage can get her safely home and head here rather than home to deal with this Ghost. Normally he does more research into these types of events but under the current situation this one needed to be cleared out as soon as possible, Ariu not being able to travel with him all the time.

Ari smiled as he went along with the idea, glad that he was so reciprocative. "Ummm I mean......" Normally sh was all for the macho man deal, but.... He was just a human. Clearing her throat, she offered a sheepish smile, trying to think of how she could get him to let her take hik to his home (which was doubtlessly further away) instead of the other way around without immasculating him. She didn't want him getting attacked while she was doubling back... "I um... was actually hoping I could see your place. I honestly don't live that far away, but I was just curious to see where you lived." she pointed out.
It seemed a fair compromise, in all honesty it would be fairly cool to see where he lived, and if anything she could probably see if she could take out the hollo on the way there, spend a fee minutes with him, then head on home right? Admittedly it was a bit of a bigger show of interest than she normally shower, but she had been getting along pretty well wth Gage. It was certainly a convenient excuse to hang out with him outside the library. A brief sense of the area and she couldnt help but lessen that smile of hers.... It was getting closer... Did it sense her!? Putting that smile back on she slipped around the desk, smiling as she took his hand in hers, tugging him toward the door. "It'll be fun! C'mon." she urged him, wishing if anything to avoid the thing attacking the library itself.
"Uh, well that sounds fine with me," How is he supposed to get away to deal with this thing while she is near by? AND SHE WANTS TO SEE HIS PLACE?! Maybe he should have picked up the garage a bit more, the mess having gotten a bit out of hand. A surge of energy through the air makes Gages mouth tingle as the sensation gets worse. What ever this thing is it has gotten closer, so much so that Gage feels like he would rather go out the back just to keep Ariu out of this. "You'll have to forgive me though. My place is a bit messy at the moment. I have been a little wrapped up with a project at home and its kinda spread to my living area. I'm ready when ever you are." Gage walks over to the door door, looking out and up the street, not able to sense the direction of the ghost but it would show itself before long. As far as he has known them they tend to stay up and away from general population but this one is much to close just to be wandering the street.
Scanning the streets he see's nothing save for a few stragglers wandering their way home. A flash of movement on the roof of the a building a block away catches his eye, the sight of it leaving a bit of a ringing in his ears. Wincing a bit he rolls his eyes trying to ignore the pain, "You know what, you go ahead and finish up really quick 'cause I think I just saw someone I know that I want to catch before they vanish on me." Stepping out the door he leaves, abrupt and rude to say the least but this thing is way too close to get Ariu to leave yet. His only option is to handle it on his own before she finishes locking the library up and getting the kid out that likes to wipe his nose on the tables like an infant.

Ariu blinked as she watched him straight up run off. Her brows furrowing for a moment as she thought it over. They both seemed to be in equally increasing hurries to go...but....this was a bit too much of a coincidence. Surely.....surely he wasn't... No he couldn't be... she frowned and immediately raced outside after him, glancing around for a moment before she leapt up, a sudden burst of reiatsu through her legs as she hopped up onto the roof, looking around until at long last she spotted......them. She hadn't even been able to differentiate them from afar, but what was very clearly two hollows were overhead....and he was going right for them! Suddenly it became very apparent that something was up. Either he was spiritually aware or the hollows were using some kind of power to draw him in.
In either case she had to do something.
Inhaling deeply, she narrowed her eyes, reaching up and focusing as a brilliant burst of reishi crackled in her palm as she promptly summoned her 'bow', Grinsen. That large pendulum ace with the signature smile on it's blade. Taking careful aim, she promptly swung, lashing out arrows in the direction of the hollows, the arrows banding into crescent waves as they sliced out. Several of them listed, and managed to clip one of the hollows, the other taking them head-on, those arrows cutting deep into it's body before it's resiliance busted the rest of the arrows, blood splattering down to the ground as it suddenly turned with it's copanion, both hollows now completely concentrating on the quincy as she swallowed hard. At the very least she had managed to divert their attention away from Gage. But now she'd have to contend with the both of them. Raising her weapon, she prepared herself, that smile widening just a bit as even in combat she didn't let it falter. She'd wait for them to come to her, hoping to draw them as far away from her friend as she could.
Quick flashes of blue over head draw attention from ahead of him to his upper left higher than the rooftops of the nearby buildings. Of course they can fly, why wouldn't they be able to fly? A green light circles the ground several feet in front of him as he hops and lands in its area. Sinking into it he shoves upwards, the ground springing up and flinging him airborne. Wind catches his shirt, Gages arms outspread like wings as he seems to float through the air more than twenty feet above the roof as he reaches his peak and starts to descend to its top.
Looking back he searches for the source of the blue light, it had a soft sensation to it. Almost like the feeling of a thick gust of wind hitting his neck, an odd sensation to say the least and one that he has not been exposed to yet as far as spiritual signatures. Off back in the direction that he came from he spots someone, a figure on the roof with a massive bladed weapon, that seems to be the focal point of the blue darts.
Looking to the poltergeists he watches as they move in towards the figure, one severally wounded from the blue darts. Just as he touches down on the roof Gage takes a knee, watching to see who this figure is, perhaps with a second spiritually active fighter in the area he would be able to take care of these things before Ariu gets too impatient. Pulling his baseball cap out of his back pocket he pulls it on and the bill down to shade his eyes from the sky. lowering into a four point runners stance he tenses his muscles as green sparks of energy charge from his hands and feet into the ground around him making a circle of light. Air billows upwards underneath him as the surge of energy disrupts normal airflow. As soon as he gets a better picture on what is about to happen he will take his next action.

Ariu tensed immediately as she watched the two hollows closing in. Already they seemed a lot larger than they had from further away. The both of them seemed avian in appearance, one of them with red feathers, the other with green ones. The red having been the one suffering from her attacks. With loud screeches she could feel them getting ready for an attack, building up their reiatsu as she stood her ground, raising that weapon defensively as the green-feathered hollow suddenly soared up into the air, it's wings flaring for a moment before it unleashed a powerful flap of it's wings, feathers suddenly raining down, Ariu only just raising her weapon to block as those bladed things slammed down around her, some shattering against her weapon as the Red-feathered hollow flew in under the cover fire of the other, it's wings suddenly lighting up in brilliant orange flames, hissing as it flew straight at the quincy.
Glanding up, ariu unleashed a sudden burst of her own energy, reishi suddenly flaring along her weapon as the bird flew straight at her. LEaping up into the air, she twisted, a soft flicker of light slicing around her body as some sort of thread shone through the air, that bird hollow sweeping beneath her as she flipped before planting both feet firmly into it's back, yanking hard as that thin Silberdraht wire sliced into it's shoulders and neck, latching onto the hollow like reigns as she raised her weapon up, gritting her teeth as she curled her fingers, making that wire bite into the hollow's neck before that sudden aura of reishi around her weapon let out a screeching laugh as she sliced down, that cutting aura allowing her to sever clean through the hollow's left wing, a sudden flaying of blood spurting from it's left side as it suddenly veered, kicking off of it's back as she dropped, wincing as she slammed into the edge of a rooftop, scrabbling briefly before she slid down along dhe side of the building, landing on her back on a fire escape with an audible OOF.
The hollow kept flying, screeching as it spiraled out of control and crashed into another building, blood spraying about from both it's severed wing as well as the deep cuts along it's neck and shoulders.
grunting, Ariu slowly stood up, wincing as she felt a soreness in her side, no doubt having bruised her ribs, if not cracking some of them as she managed to stagger up to her feet, looking up just in time to see those feathers slicing down. With a yelp she brought her weapon up, just as one of those feathery darts sliced through her left thigh, cutting a solid inch into the muscle as she suddenly dropped, biting her lip and letting out a grunt as she rolled to the side as the one-winged hollow launghed itself from the side of the building, roaring angrily as it shredded the fire escape where she had been only a moment before. Of course she knew she ws in a bind, one of them was keeping it's annoying little ass away and firing. Normally not an issue as she could usually just return fire. But the other one was making thigns complicated, she'd likely have to deal with it before she could get the other one.
Gage watches, keeping an eye on the figure, dressed like. Well dressed like Ariu. Is that? No way, She couldn' be. Gage watches in awe and confusion as the figure fends off a barrage of feather blades and then with some invisible rope rides on the second Ghost like some kind of Bronco Champ. With a sweep of the massive axe like weapon its wing is cut free and blood gushing out as they go careening into another building. Taking another second he watches as the second ghost launches another barrage of feathers down in a flurry cutting everything like steel including, yes it had to be, Ariu.
"Game time,"digging his fingers into the concrete rooftop with green light sparking about his hands he separates a torso sized section of concrete that he flings up in a high arching trajectory in the same direction that he is looking. With his Soul Communication leap he hurls himself at break neck speeds as if from a cannon, a gust of wind following him from his sudden departure, as he drives his whole body into the flying Poltergeist in a full body slam. Using his momentum and a gust of wind from behind he pushes as hard and as fast as he can into the Ghost and drives it downwards into the street below.
The impact knocked the wind out of him, several of the bladed feathers cutting his left arm up and shredding his nice shirt. Gritting his teeth he leaps away and interlaces both fingers above his head, a green bolt of lightning leaping from his hands and grabbing the concrete chunk now approaching at dangerous speeds, touching down he slams his hands to the ground. The boulder follows his instruction using the additional energy from Gages Soul Communication to drive itself into the head of the poltergeist on the ground, the red splatter spreading over the street like a water balloon from a sky scraper.
"Ariu?" Gage turns holding his arm and rolls his shoulder. "What was that?"Gage was short and blunt but he was still a bit in shock about this person that he has known for so long being what appears to be some kind of superhero. Walking away from the mess in the street he walk back towards her,"That was amazing, you rode that thing and cut off its wing-where did you get that thing? Where did you learn how to do that?" He was full of question, to many to even think of at once so he stopped and tried to calm himself down and look over the cuts on his arm.
Noticing her leg bleeding profusely he gets a bit worried,"Are ya' going to be okay?" he asks gesturing at the wound.
Post by Ariugrette Tsetsara on Feb 20, 2016 22:43:07 GMT
Ariu took a soft breath, relaxing slightly as it seemed one of the birds was slammed into by that sudden sould command from Gage. She was actually a bit surprised how he had managed to down the bird up in the air, a sheepish look on her face as she looked down at the wound. It ha cut her on the outter thigh, so there was no danger of bleeding out from one of the main arteries, but even so she was a bit rattler, not to mention that the wound was still bleeding some, gently holding a hand over the injury as she gritted her teeth, a soft grunt escaping her as she got to her feet, looking around. "I think I'm alright, but that was really impressive." She noted with a smile, using that pendulum axe, Grinsen, to support herself on her injured side, looking around until she saw the ranged hollow dead on the ground. It was only then that the other hollow, with it's none wing, and now even WORSE attitude. She watched with alarm as it bulled it's way through a corner, smashing brick in it's path as it rushed toward them, immediately Ariu backed off, wincing as she hefted her blade with both arms, and brought it up into a defensive barrier between them and it, a burst of reishi raising around the weapon to boost it's defense, her intention being to give Gage enough breathing room to take care of this one as he had the other.
Gage watches in surprise as Ariu maneuvers to intercept the poltergeist, stepping in between him and the charging beast. Its wound pours blood, coating the ground in a frantic spray of body fluids while it closes ground. Leaping head first the ghost slams into the crossed sweet spot of Ariu's weapon, its exotic blade and shaft glistening, almost gleaming with some kind of haze that he can see like the energy behind her weapon is visible to the naked eye. The beast digging in with its front claws drive forward, putting more and more pressure into its advance.
Taking advantage of its distraction Gage crouches, a green circle of Soul Communication energy surrounding him on the ground. Leaping to the building directly next to him on the street he slides one green glowing foot out to kick the base of the building, two line drawing themselves up the wall from his foot in a 'V' shape. Driving his right fist into the wall after turning one spot soft enough to punch though he pulls on the wall, green sparks of light pulling the wall away from the building. "Coming down! Time to move!"Gage pulls with another gust of strength as the wall breaks free and tips over, its shadow falling right over Ariu and the Ghost.
Falling down the wall crashes, crushing anything in its path and leaving Gage winded and gasping slightly. It has been a while since his body has demanded this kind of stamina. Soul Communication while magical in appearance still demands that the user pays a price and this time it is Gage's level of fatigue. The dust and rubble in the air slowly clears out until he is able to see what happened in the epicenter of the fallen wall.

When he finally moved into action, Ariu practically collapsed on the spot when that pressure left her own weapon, the reishi burst fading as she dropped to her knees, wincing as she watched that sudden shift of the building. She smiled to herself, grunting as she then launched herself off to the side, a wave of her arm as that thin wire curled through the air, ripping up the sides of the walls as it wound around the hollow, slicing into it's body as it was momentarily held in place, long enough for that building to slam down onto it's body, with Ariu dropping to the floor, panting softly as she felt a soft burning in her arms. Slowly, she managed to get to her feet, feeling her leg throb slightly as she took several long moments to scan the area, as if expecting another salvo of hollows to show up. But it seemed they were in the clear.
Immediately she smiled, a soft look of enjoyment crossing her features as she laid back against one of the buildings, the both of them still somewhat in an alley as she let her weapon dematerialize, lightly pulling off her jacket and binding it around her thigh. Immediately gage would be treated to the sight of more skin than he'd probably ever seen on the woman. Which wasn't much, but simply showing her neck as well as her forearms, he would see that that strange little burn mark on her cheek actually wound around the entirety of her body, at least to the point where it continued along her arms. In any case, with the bleeding somewhat stemmed, she took a moment to relax, looking up at Gage as a sheepish smile spread across her features. "So uh.... I don't suppose you know what a quincy is?"
Gage was never none for lying to make himself seem smarter than he is and its not a trait that he is about to start up now. "Honest to God Truth?" Gage stands up, his hand still sunk deep into a cinder block up to the middle of his forearm. "It sounds like a bar drink." Gage reaches into the cinder block with his own energy, pushing and pulling the grains of rock aside and letting the brick fall from his hand like a glove and crumble on the ground. Scattering on impact it breaks down into its base elements of granulated rock and adhesive powders.
"I know very little about all these poltergeists in the area and even less so about what the hell I am and what the hell it is that you just did. Back where I'm from these kind of ghosts wander about but they are not nearly as openly aggressive." Gage refers to his own experiences with the ghosts back in Texas where they would be haunting houses and the occasional person but here they were hyper active, like they are all hyperactive on some kind of drug. Walking closer Gage looks at the cut on Ariu's leg, seeing how it is a little more superficial than he originally thought.
"Maybe you would be willing to fill me in on this. I have never met another..."Gage has been pondering about this particular question for quite some time now, what to call himself or others like him,"Spiritually active person before." On top of that what are the chances that the first one he meets happens to be his librarian, someone he see's on a daily basis. His inability to tell that she has any powers though is a bit disconcerting, how many more could there be out here? "Are there many more people out there like us?"
Post by Ariugrette Tsetsara on Feb 26, 2016 16:51:48 GMT
Ariu couldn't help but smile softly at that, shaking her head and slowly sitting up, grunting a bit as she looked herself over, shaking her head for just a moment as she sighed, rubbing gently at her eyes before her attention shifted back to the human, pondering his words and allowing him to continue. She smirked a bit at his calling them 'spiritually active people'. It was kindof cute. Sighing she gave rub to her eyes again and thought of a way to explain this as....eloquently as possible. "Well to put it simply, my family is sortof spiritually active. There's sortof a race of us. And for a while we were called quincy." She murmured softly, rubbing lightly at her cheek for a moment as she looked down at the ground.
"But things got out of hand a long time ago, and we were almost killed off. Those ghosts that you call poultrygeists are what we call hollows. They're.... a bit more common than you think." She noted, trying to think of a way to explain without terrifying the man. "And there.....is a lot about them that you should probably know. And for the moment I don't think this is the place to go explaining it to you." She noted, looking around before she gradually got up and onto her feet, a sigh escaping her as she leaned against the wall to support herself. "We'll go to my place. It's not far from here. I can patch myself up and fill you in at the same time."
Gages listens, holding his still bleeding arm, blood seeping in between his fingers and down his hand to leave a small blood trail where ever he goes. A though suddenly hits him, all that collateral damage...THE LIBRARY! Spinning about he looks, the street torn up on one side of the library leading to its front door. Behind him the other end of the block is blocked off by the massive chunk of rubble that now seals the entire street off from access to cars. "Yeah, I don't think I want to be here when the police start wondering what happened. It would probably be best that we become a bit scarce."
Walking back over to the hollow on the ground he gives it a once over, its body covered with various sizes of knife like feathers. Kneeling and touching the body it twitches slightly, the feathers shuddering in reflexive death throws. On the ground blackish red ooze drips out of its injured body, pooling on the ground in large amounts. Reaching down he almost touches it before he looks back to Ariu and stands up. If he had been looking though the blood, almost still alive pools up and reaches for his hand before falling to the ground as he stands up.
"Okay, So where we headed? I don't wanna kepp bleeding all over your nice sidewalks here, this part of town is just so pretty," sarcastically he gestures to the mayhem that he caused with the wall and the ripped up street.
