The training ground was filled with a particularly frenetic sort of tension today, as the second division was hard at work. No doubt, the watchful eye of their captain had them particularly motivated, as the sound of swishing and shouting mingled together, shinigami pausing only long enough to hide their expressions of dismay and fear, the sense of red-faced anxiety as the Captain surveyed them, shouting out a seemingly endless spray of invectives and criticisms, doing everything in her power to break them. It seemed like it would go on endlessly, until the newcomer arrived, carrying with him a smell of...anticipation, almost.
It was like he carried the purest essence of a cool winter day with him, the air smelling of a sort of emptiness that was almost crisp and refreshing after the distinct melange of unpleasant smells that followed any number of people performing strenuous activity in a confined area. Nostrils quivered and heads turned to fixate on the newcomer, his smile faint and almost distracted as he approached. He began to clap his hands slightly, approaching one of them at random and placing a hand on their shoulder.
"You're quite impressive. I'm honestly not sure I could ever keep up. But there's no good in giving up before I've had a chance to try, right? Shio Mora, division one. Treat me kindly."
He turned away, bowing towards Soifon and speaking in an almost sing-song, drawn out tone. He seemed remarkably good-natured today, remarkably calm and composed. It seemed almost like he'd just woken up from a nice nap, and he almost seemed to be swaying a bit as if he were way too excited. It was likely something that the captain likely hadn't deal with in quite some time, the notion of someone who didn't seem cowed by her sharp tongue in the least.
"I hope I'm not disturbing too much in your plans for the day, Captain. I'm here unofficially, and I was hoping I could join your subordinates in learning the fine arts of mobility. There's nowhere better to learn than the best, no?"
And nowhere better to blend in to the background, with any luck.

"Keep your- " Suì-Fēng was in the middle whipping her subordinates around as usual. Training to keep their speed and silence under extreme pressure was of the most importance as members of the Stealth Force. It was the third hour of hounding and them racing and falling in line when a reiatsu was sensed. Everyone suddenly looked extremely uneasy as they looked down at their Captain. They were all extremely aware that a reiatsu notably present would never be allowed. With it came... A smell. Another huge issue of detection. Nothing any of them would dare do is have any sort of smell on them, other than the unavoidable scent of the blood, sweat, and tears they shed in Suì-Fēng's ominous presence.
The Captain stood stiffly under the 30 foot high poles the squad members were jumping about. A few on the ground, waiting their turns to go back up and do the exercise all over again. her face filled with a rageful sneer, arms tightly crossed in front of her. Feet shoulder width apart, and firmly planted. She tilted her head slightly back and gazed over her shoulder as a Shinigami gracefully wondered down to her training grounds. Yes, he was indeed the source of the smells and all else unacceptable in her Stealth Force. Above all- a look of joy on his face. A look that made the naturally angry woman spew an even more red and rage filled aura. Her eyes became wild, and wide like a bull presented with a matador as the man began to clap and passed through the now frozen members of the second division, even occasionally touching them. All eyes shot back and forth between the man and Captain Suì-Fēng.
As he spoke, jaws dropped behind their hidden masks. No one had ever spoken to Suì-Fēng in such a way. Suì-Fēng's heart beat as fast as a birds in her chest as the anger grew larger and larger. Her head snapped back at the now unmoving subordinates. Get back to work!" She barked. Her works shouted even louder than usual. An anger that they usually only saw after someone had severely messed up was upon her. The squad jumped into action, so suddenly that a few even ran into each other as they raced around to look as productive as possible and avoid their Captain's wrath.
Slowly, after a few seconds of seeing that her force was back in motion, Suì-Fēng turned to look back at the fool who walked up to her with such disrespect. Her mouth twisted into a menacing grin. "Oh, I'll train you alright... Her right hand shot up to the collar of the red-headed Shinigami's uniform. With a firm grip she pulled his face very close to hers. Her hate-filled eyes staring hungrily at him. "I want you to start by doing squads with those legs, right in this very spot until that foul smell falls of your pathetic body and is replaced with the scent of despair." With the end of her order she uses a decent amount of force to throw the man back onto his rear and out of her space. Her eyes still on him like a tigress, ready to strike.

"Squats? I'll be happy to. I'm afraid I can't do much about the smell; it's just part of my zanpakuto spirit. She prefers for me to...stand out. It's a part of why I'm here." He bowed his head once more, sounding remarkably relaxed, quite calm and cool. He lowered himself slowly, his form nearly perfect. He lowered himself slowly, his expression still easy and calm. Sui Feng had a rather notorious reputation for being an impossible to please mistress, and her pride was no doubt wounded by someone else stepping into her training regiment and speaking so softly to all of her squadmates. He had known it was a dangerous move, but...to be quite honest, he had been standing idly by long enough. If he was being honest with himself, he would've admitted he'd been watching for at least five or six minutes before he'd entered close enough for the smell to be of note. But if he was being honest with himself, then he'd already be letting Lethia crow her excitement over how far he was coming, over how inferior all of these people were.
"I understand my presence is somewhat of an intrusion, especially since I'm not even one your responsibility. But I'm not doing anyone any favors if I can't at least escape a raging hollow just long enough to report what I've found. I hope I'm not being too forward by striving to make a servicable temp for one of your own." He continued to move and squat, his motions careful and cool, his energy quite carefully conserved. It was clear he was prepared to set in for the long run, that he had no interest in wearing himself out in the first minute or two. And yet his movements, even as carefully measured as they were, probably still could've put some of her less promising subordinates to shame. He paused for a second, tilting his head and then continuing once more, his attention once more switching back to the captain.
"Sui-Feng-Sama. It's just...what is the smell of despair, exactly? I'm just curious, you understand. Since you mentioned it."
