Remaining in such a close proximity to do the first attack wouldn't catch him off guard, not even with the snow. The blue illumination come off the Shinigami's body was the first hint she was doing something, his attention was more so focused that what was done happened to coincide with the ranged attack. Jeremy was figuring it would be empowered. The first few flakes hit the human's body when he backhanded the water attack away, and he felt the weight of his own body increase. He knew he shouldn't be staying in this for very long. Strength and endurance were his strongest traits, he could do this. Course the Shinigami was putting him in a pretty good spot, despite the circumstances surrounding him. Attacking from his flanks became common place so far, and at this point could have been the best option. The deflection of the water blade gave way to a clear view, that itself was what forced him to immediately turn.
To the Shinigami's credit, the snow was starting to bog him down heavily at this point. He was having trouble moving, and that was what was going to let Meilin get the hit on his sides, but put her in a very bad spot herself. His started to rise to block an attack, but the wide angles the maces needed to be swung for a double-attack like this caused them to dip downwards and he got one foot forward. It was that moment the flanged edges hit into his sides that Jeremy's hands wrapped around the Shinigami's wrists and gripped tight enough that trying to get him to let go was going to be a serious problem. Future seconds held the possibility of potentially broken wrists. Not to mention with all the adding weight, trying to get out being tied to an anchor didn't always work. Now Jeremy, in kind, threw his head forward in what, at first looked like an all too real headbutt that in reality, was a feigned bite in disguise. He was going for Meilin's left shoulder, to take a real nasty bite. Not a bite just to bite, he was going for a chunk of the Shinigami.

She felt as the maces connected with the man and smiled though her feelings of victory didn't last long as the human managed to grab hold of her wrists. She tugged at it, though the strength he was using was ridiculous and proved to be higher than that of Meilin's. If she didn't act soon her wrists would nothing more than dust. To be frank, she couldn't believe that this guy was still able to move around like this in her snow. Still this was no time for her to be impressed, she needed to remove herself from this situation before it was too late.
She continued to try and pull herself loose as she felt the pressure increase on her wrists, but to no avail. She was about to try another move when the man reared his head back, she wasn't sure what he was planning, but a head butt would be pretty painful. Meilin hurriedly threw up a shield of water at half bala speed to protect herself, though both her caught arms remained outside as to not have the human enter her defensive range.
Soon after doing this she tightened her grip on her left zanpakuto and then the blade seemingly shattered like glass into fifteen pieces before appearing to fall towards the ground. Though they would soon begin to levitate coming up at bala speed. Five acting like an upper cut aiming to pierce under his throat and up into his head. Another five came from the his left side aiming for the temple and another five aiming to pierce his right temple. He'd either let her go or have his face suddenly filled with holes.

Jeremy's teeth clamped down on the Shinigami's shoulder, immediately feeling and hearing that irritating sound of his chompers against something that wasn't flesh. His immediate reaction was to twist the Shinigami's wrist as hard as he could. Meilin could feel his hot breath and saliva pelting against her as he let out a frustrated growl. He gnawed harder and harder like a rabid animal, and his temper was getting the better of him now more than ever. That inner monster, seeking the taste of blood on his tongue and flesh between his teeth had poured out full force. His sides were hurting like a bitch, and walking was going to hurt even more after this. It was just when his head pulled back, jaws still open and teeth bared, that it looked like he was going to go in for another bite when the shards hit their intended marks, but stopped against his skin like a drill bit attempting to go into a surface too thick. His face contorted into a look of worried confusion as the golden stitched cross on his tabard pulsed, sending rippling waves of light across his body. The shards were blown back away from his form, and Meilin could feel the death-lock grip of Jeremy's hands around her wrists disappear. By all accounts, he could have done some more damage before leaving his current position, but was spiritually compelled against doing so.
The human vanishing ended with his appearance at lamp post that had fallen to the ground some time ago. He put one hand on it, then disappeared again. Now he was at the body of the man who fell to him not too long ago He was on a knee, panting heavily. Sweat gleamed off of his face, and he gazed at the Shinigami with a new found hatred, albeit from a source he found just the smallest bit of respect from. She almost had him. Almost. It looked like he was straining himself, but Jeremy got his weapon to stand up straight like a normal lamp ought to be. The bulb came to life, lighting up the street and at the same time, revealed that the light was heated to an extent that Meilin could see it. The snow keeping Jeremy bogged down melted. He reached to over to the body, grabbing the left arm and pulled it up. His jaws closed around the forearm, his head jerked back and with it, a chunk of flesh large enough to expose the bone. Meilin was lucky to have gotten her defenses up when she did.
Jeremy chewed on the dead flesh, lifeless blood dribbled down the corners of his lips and down his chin. In his mouth, the meat decayed quickly, spoiling and going rotten in just a matter of moments. With his eyes trained on the Shinigami, Jeremy swallowed the hunk of meat. What he did was something that was damning him, and in their “faith”, Jeremy was invoking the power of a being meant to bring the opposite of a bountiful harvest. His soul was getting erased slowly, each time he did this, but he only called on the power of the Four when absolutely necessary. The acts of giving “tribute” were sometimes strange, sometimes they were just as obvious as invoking greater power. This one required the spoilage and consumption of something considered to nourish another. Other humans were the second strongest in terms of gaining power, and anything spiritual was so potent it granted permanent power. Such was his reasoning for trying to get a hunk out of the Shinigami first. Although this would be temporary, it would last the rest of the encounter.
The Human's power exploded to a level Meilin would have been able to read as someone on equal terms to one of the Gotei's Lieutenants. His Reiatsu swirled around, gaining a yellow tint from the light of his still glowing weapon. Jeremy aimed a finger at the Shinigami.
“Out of respect, respect I can say less than a single handful of Shinigami have gotten out of me...If you've got some last words, let's hear them now.”

Her last attempt to end the fight hadn't worked, but she'd succeeded in one of her goals. Getting her wrists released, and not a moment too soon either as her bones felt they would have been turned to dust if they stayed within his grasp any longer. The Human had somehow protected himself with some strange technique, though from the look on his face Meilin doubt he had activated it himself. She could tell she had caught him completely off guard. Did he have some sort of safe guard? If so how often did it work?
Her train of thought was broken as she watched the Human consume the flesh of the man he had killed. The sight was somewhat disgusting and inhumane, but Meilin kept a straight face as she looked on. Suddenly the man began to glow again and his power jumped once more, rivalling that of a lieutenant.
"You're just full of surprises are't you?" She asked as the pieces of her blade became whole once again upon the hilt of her zanpakutou.
She'd need to watch her step around this one she was getting tired, and he just kept pumping out more and more reiatsu. If she didn't end this soon, things could get bad.
"Ok big boy, come get me," she said suggestively with a wink as she poised herself getting ready for his attack. Right now she wasn't sure if she was making the right call being passive, but she needed to get as much rest as possible before going another round with the power house in front of her. She released another pulse of reiatsu recreating her echolocation. She had a feeling that he'd be somewhat faster now, even with her snow still falling, she'd probably still need any advantage she could get.

Jeremy pointed his finger up at the Shinigami and the head of his lamp screeched like a child in agony, churning as the light began to shine upwards, the beams expanding outward and becoming brighter. While it was kept on the Shinigami's direction, the light was going to ultimately follow its user around. This would eliminate the threat of the weight boggling snow and leave him free to act accordingly. Both hands went to the inside of his pouches, fumbling around and looking almost as if he were impatiently tapping the front of his legs.
“I do what I have to do to make ends meet. I'm sure you can understand.”
Jeremy disappeared with a Step, this time much faster than the Shinigami might have guessed. Before they were on even terms, and his speed could have been said to be a problem. It would have gotten worse for her, but Jeremy knew she wouldn't just get caught off guard. Unlike his opponent, Jeremy did not go for the flanks or even the rear. He was coming for Meilin right at the front, the first of several possible plans already enacting with that first move. Although he knew the first rule of combat was to always let your opponent make the first move, it would have gotten boring if they just stood around and talked shit to each other. He probably could have spewed some bullshit that he was going to just get stronger the longer she waited, but again...boring. And he was on a schedule, that at this point, had been interrupted far beyond what he wanted.
The Human came in with his mighty right arm coming down in what most would call an 'Ax Chop', aimed for the Shinigami's mirroring left shoulder. The striking surface of his attack would be the forearm. Jeremy's left arm remained cradled and tucked back, for what the Shinigami could guess was dominantly for defensive means. Both of his hands were curled into loose fists, like his overall goal here was to get into a grapple fight again.

As she had thought, he was faster though he had managed to exceed even her expectations. Still her sonar helped her keep track of him as he moved, He popped in front of her before she could react. His speed had jumped up quite a bit, before he had been quick, but she could at least react to him, now she wasn't so sure how this would turn out. Her eyes caught sight of his raised right hand as it was coming down.
Pushing off with her right foot, she turned her body slightly so that it was her profile view facing him and not her looking right at him. His attack just barely grazed her on her left arm she attempted her dodge. The glancing blow still held some pack to it as she felt the pain shoot up her arm. She may have lost the use of her arm had she allowed that one to land properly.
From her current position, she had two possible options of attack, or she could try to run and put some distance between them, but with this newfound speed she was sure the human would quickly cover any ground that was between the two before she got too far. So instead she retaliated with a quick strike from her left blade aiming once more for where the Humans neck met his shoulder on the right side. She swung down hard, with every intent to behead him then and there.

The fight was nearing its climax, with both the Shinigami and the human, Jeremy, at the last strings. While he had not used nearly as much of his powers as the Shinigami, he took several blows that were, at their time of dealing not much of a problem, but Jeremy was a Human. A very spiritually endowed human, but a human none the less. Bodily wise, him and his ilk were far easier to fight against. Humans could not suffer as much damage as a spiritual being, but the scales were tipped in his favor. His reaction to the attack aimed at his neck was to bend backwards, almost awkwardly so. But with that motion of movement, came a loud BOOM, similar to earlier when Jeremy used the hidden shotgun round inside his now broken revolver. Two shotgun shells were in his left hand, tucked in between his index and middle finger, as well as his middle and ring finger. It was a trick he learned from one of the others of his order, which was why he didn't care to lose his gun. What good were bullets if he couldn't fire them, right? Well, how off guard could you catch someone when you shot those rounds with no gun?
The spread of the shell, in such a close proximity would keep most of the pellets center-mass and to knock the Shinigami out of the fight. Not life threatening, but damn near close. He still had one left, as well as the heavier caliber revolver rounds.
Jeremy's form continued with his movement of back bending, diving down quickly to the ground. The warming light followed ever so fast, continuing to keep him safe from the harsh snow.

Somehow he'd managed to dodge her attack. Well not somehow, his power boost was just clearly more than Meilin had expected, so much so that she barely saw when he raised his left hand and aimed it at her. She pushed off towards her right once more in an attempt to dodge the gunfire. She came to a stop her left hand hold her her left side, evidence of a wound present as her fingers allowed small amounts of blood to seep through.
She hadn't been hit full on, she dodged most of the shot, but she hadn't been fast enough to dodge everything not quite. She could fight still, but what she couldn't deal with was blood loss. Her eyes narrowed and then she allowed a single drop of water to fall from her blade it floated to the wound and expanded over it. She froze the water effective stopping the bleeding for now.
"What are you, a walking arsenal...?' she said more to herself as she watched him take to lower ground.
She followed suit heading straight for him, watching just in case he pulled something slick like that once more. She tapped the hilt in her right hand causing the blade to shatter into fifteen pieces, each one flying towards the human at bala speed. They would attack him from all directions constantly all the while aiming for his vitals, meanwhile Meilin's other blade turned into what seemed like a whip with a blade on the end of it which she began to use to lash at the human with her strikes aiming more for his tendons in his legs and ankles in an attempt to slow him down, though she spread her attacks out over his body so he plan wouldn't be obvious.

The sword breaking apart was cause for alarm. He didn't have Guardian Angel to save his veteran skin again this time. The sound of his Stepping echoed from his position, and Jeremy took position back down to the ground level underneath his lamp. He'd managed to get away with the fabric of his clothing torn from the splintered blade. He wasn't bleeding, that was good, but he couldn't be careless. With all his defensive measures, he'd still wind up deep-sixed in the long run, even if he killed the Shinigami. With gritted teeth, Jeremy stuffed his free hand into the pouch with his loose cartridges and held three in between his fingers and aimed them at the Shinigami. All three fired in unison, one of his many diversionary tactics. He didn't want to do what he was going to do, but it was going to be the easiest option from here.
With the hand cannon bullets being cause for alarm, Jeremy's opposing hand which carried one of the shotgun shells opted to trade it for the black stone he was holding earlier. As soon as his rough fingers caressed the smooth rock, it began to glow green like earlier. The human pulled the spherical object out and held it out, a twisted grin formed on his face.
“Fuck it if I lose the souls, I'll just find some quick replacements easy peasy.” Jeremy murmured to himself as he began to very calmly walk toward the Shinigami. That, above anything else, should have been most worrysome.

It would seem the human was cautious of her blades from the first attack she had made with them. Truthfully, she had hoped to end this fight with that attack, she knew she wouldn't exactly catch him off guard again, at least not that easily she would need to be smart. As he stepped away back to his light he turned and fired at Meilin once more, this was of no concern to her, she had been watch for an attack similar to that, if not sneakier. Her left had slashed upwards sending out a broad surface of water from her zanpakuto that acted like a shield, taking the bullets for her. Surely he knew just like her blades, his bullets wouldn't just catch her off guard like that again. At the same time, the whip like form her zanpakuto had taken lashed out at the human once more aiming to bisect him from bottom to top.
Ten of the blade pieces rained down on the man from directly above, though they didn't all aim directly for they head. Instead they were more like his buckshot, spread out so that even if he could dodge, he had a harder time getting away unscathed. She noticed once more that he had pulled out that weird orb she saw him with earlier. She wasn't sure what his intentions were, but she wasn't about to let him do anything to her with it. The other five blade pieces, which by now she hoped had lost track of would attempt to cut through the hand he was holding the orb with forcing him to drop it.

Jeremy started laughing when the Shinigami launched her assault at him. The stone let out a bright flash, the kind that either made your eyes hurt if you didn't blink, or made you unsure what really happened because you blinked. Normally, most would have to blink at a brightness like this, but it would be unclear if the Shinigami would do so at all. Regardless of her eyelids movement, she would see the aftermath of the flash result in the blade fragments coming at him from above dropped harmlessly to the ground, as did the ones going for his hand.
“What I hold is a relic, Shinigami. Forged in the era of the first civilizations, and its purpose was meant to contain the souls of a king's enemies. Men proclaimed as sorcerers wielded these stones against the supernatural, and the souls stored inside were like a battery. There are so many other ways to use these, but this is the only pertinent thing you need to know for now.
You made me use the souls I've collected to make sure you don't get to go home. Try to talk to that weapon of yours, and when you get nothing...well, the look on your face will let you know I ain't fuckin' around anymore. Try to use your Kido, that won't work. It ain't made you human, it just made everything spiritual about you unable to work. Heh, course it only works on spiritual beings. Don't worry, I won't harm actual innocent people. Cost me the souls of nearly a thousand sinners to do this, and I'm not very happy about that. Not at all. So much time wasted, and the boss won't be happy to learn I had to use up all the fuel, either. But I ain't taking chances!”
The human Stepped towards Meilin, not once, but multiple times around the Shinigami to give her the time needed to know his words were true. There were only two more of these at nearly this capacity, though fortunately for the baby face here, they were some thousands of miles away back in the United States. The light of his lamp hadn't followed him, which meant he hadn't a need to fear the snow bogging him down anymore. And then, when that moment of reality hit, Jeremy appeared before Meilin with the hand gripping the stone cocked back. He punched forward, going for a powerful hook aimed right at the Shinigami's face.

She watched as her release fell harmlessly to the ground, and if that wasn't bad enough she felt most if not all of reiatsu disappear. She was winded and tired all of a sudden, she wasn't quite sure what happened, but it was definitely because of that weird orb Jeremy held in his hand. Soon enough her suspicions were confirmed as he began to boast about it being a... "relic" of some sort. She didn't know what he was getting at, but clearly the object had more than just one dangerous ability available for it's user.
Storing souls and providing protection against the supernatural. How very convenient for him to have something like this left up his sleeve when she assumed she had him on the ropes. Hell she was hoping to at least steal the orb and leave. He did however give her a bit of useful information, he clearly wasn't the brains behind this operation and there were definitely more of these orbs around. Now if only she knew where.
He train of thought was broken when she heard the tell-tale sign of Jeremy stepping. She locked her eyes onto him, watching his movements carefully. He'd already told her that her spiritual abilities were useless and she believed him seeing as the pieces of her one blade were on the ground against her will. Still she had another sword in her hand, and spiritual powers or not, this man before her was still human, which meant he could still be cut by her.
She raised her sword high and swung down as hard as she could at Jeremy's fist as he reappeared in front of her on his final step throwing a punch to her face. Hopefully he'd be caught off guard believing her to be completely defenceless now without her reiatsu, perhaps this would be the opening she needed to put an end to this long and tiring battle.
Overwhelming Power: This buff is an incomplete cap left on the compression of power, causing for explosive torrents of reiatsu to surge around the user. This form of ability causes reiatsu sensing abilities to scramble when in the presence of the user, and also gives their overall speed and strength a 2x boost [not affecting steps]. The primary perk of this form is that it allows the user to practically use their overflowing reiryoku as a weapon. Most commonly found as waves of energy with the swing or focus of the Shikai of varying power, along with an increase in pressure by 50%.
The Human snarled loudly at the Shinigami's physical retort, if it hadn't been for his protected form, he would hand lost his hand. It was enough to prevent his attack, but in the moment it forced him to drop the stone and disappear once again. One would consider that to be a diversionary tactic, but it could also be speculated it was a grave mistake on his behalf. When the human appeared again, he did so to snatch his prize once again, but this time with his non-injured hand. The look of intensity on his face grew to frightening levels.
“I will crush you into dust, Shinigami. I will eradicate any trace of your existence, and my lord, War, shall give me the power to do so!” His injured hand aimed up at the Shinigami, the leaking crimson stream began to direct towards his palm instead of the ground. His aura blackened and grew stronger, but only for the moment at hand. A bright red ball of energy formed, something she would have guessed would be similar to a Cero, but Jeremy would not have the chance to fire it off. There was a flash of white out of the corner of Meilin's eyes, a woman clad in armor similar to Jeremy appeared and for the time being, had her way with the human male. There were several punches and kicks, the last of which sent the man back into his light post. Again, he dropped the stone.
“Marleen?!”
“You're done, Jere. Give up, and I'll let you keep that ugly head of yours on your neck.” The woman replied, drawing what looked like a broadsword from her side.
“Fucking hell, I will!” He let out a loud whistle, gripping his light post. The bulb end grew bright, encapsulating him in light and rapidly shrinking his form until it was merely a beam of light that shot off into the sky an disappeared. At his exit, there was a loud explosion a couple blocks away. It was his car, rigged to explode, and the creature he kept inside had done as it was ordered to.
The brunette sighed loudly and walked over to the stone, picked it up and eyed it. “You might want to take this back with you, Shinigami. It honestly isn't safe here in our world, and it'll be harder for them to get to yours. You doin' okay, kiddo?” The woman finally looked over at the Shinigami, scanning the other female's form. “Thinking maybe I should patch you up a bit before you get going home, if you can get home at the moment.”
