Overcoming the disease! "With a drill sergeant mother." Eevee loved her mother and all but she was way too much of a drill sergeant when Eevee asked for help. "Eevee do you know why you can't walk?" Her mom's tone made Eevee glare at her mother. What kind of question was that? "A disease that has been eating away at my bones since I was little. I hate how I have to keep telling you this mom." - "Maybe I keep asking because I know it's wrong?" The speed her mom responded made Eevee question herself for a moment before she relaxed and kept caning the dishes her mother chose to be her muscle training to start out.
'Even if it was something else it does not change the fact I'm going to lose all my bones in six months...' Eevee let her thoughts roam for a moment before her mother sent her back to reality with a flick to the head for stopping mid plate wash. Eevee also figured this was her mom's way of lightening the work load she had since both Eevee and her dad rarely cleaned. When she placed the plate in the dry rack she felt her chair get pulled out from under her. "Stand up Eevee." Eevee sat there for a moment trying to focus on what just happen.

Overcoming the disease! "My mother has powers also?" "Mom I can't walk let alone stand anymore. The disease is too much of my bones and trying to hold my weight will break them before I even get fully standing!" Eevee shouted at her mom who had a rather different type of reaction. Her mom's left hand turned black before leaving just bones and smoke as she reached it to the flowers and the shriveled up and died. "That disease is a dulled version of my powers. When I was pregnant with you I was still using my powers not thinking I was. Unless you get stronger it will keep eating away at you and kill you. So stand up unless you asking me for training was just you trying to convince me you're still my daughter!"
Eevee hated to admit it but her mom was right. She was always trying to be like her mom and act like her also. Her mom was the perfect women, she could cook, she could fight, she could raise kids, and she even had powers. Eevee only had the powers part and it frustrated her. Her fist placed to the ground as she tried to lift her own weight upward. It felt like it was more than her own weight though, all of the self-hate and anger at her own weakness was riding on her back causing her to lose the small progress she had. Was she just going to give up? Hell no she wanted to walk, and if that meant risking her bones a few times then so be it!

Overcoming the disease! "If you seek strength you have to work for it!" Eevee placed both of her hands to the ground slowly shaking. The back of her mind fearing she would break every bone in her body if she fell or kept trying slowing her progress. Her mom had made herself comfortable on Eevee's Wheelchair as she looked at her bone hand and waved it as the muscle and skin grew back. "If you seek strength you have to work for it Eevee. Nothing in this world comes free." Eevee looked at her mom who seemed lost in thought, the gaze on the left hand as Eevee got on one knee and took a deep breath.
From here on she was passed her normal attempts to stand, she had wanted to show people she could do anything she set her mind to like the anime characters she admired the most. But every time her fear of death would cause her to go back to her chair and forget she even tried before. But here, with her mom taking the chair she had nowhere to run to, aside from forward! Her body began to rise slowly, the weight of her misery and bad thoughts now drifting away as she took the first step to move forward in a long time, getting back up after she fell.
"... I don't ... The doctors said if I stood my legs would break ..." Eevee looked down at the ground, it was a lot further away than she was used to having it as she leaned on the counter for support. Thankfully her power let her walk so she was not unused to the feeling. "The spiritual power you have gained has been fighting my power off for a while. Although it seems since the last time I was here you have gained a lot more power Glass swan." Eevee turned red at the sight of her mom smiling and calling her that nickname only known to her parents and her.

Overcoming the disease! "The treatment begins." Eevee wanted to walk over and hug her mom for showing some emotions in such a long time however the army face was already back as she pointed to the dishes and began cracking her knuckles. "Finish those dishes already, you got your break!" Eevee smiled lightly before slowly spinning herself around to resume washing the dishes. Her hands gently moving the next plate from the soap water as she heard her mother stand up and start walking over. Doing her best to scrub the cheese off the plate before she felt something cold like ice running up her leg.
"If you are smart you would keep looking at those dishes. I'm going to try and remove the effects of my powers out of your bones, and while Im at it try to restore the lost bone mass. If you move too much I might mess up and decay the bones much faster so focus on the dishes swan." How could she focus on dishes when it felt like ice was being rolled against her skin? That was not even the worst part as her right leg surged with pain of needles causing her to drop the plate back into the water. She kept her eyes closed as she tried to deal with the cold and the pain.
She wanted to ask her mom just what she was doing but remember how her left hand was able to turn into just bones she figured it had something to do with that and kept quiet. Hands reaching back to pull out the plate as she felt some of her bones return like they did during her powers. Was she finally going to be able to walk again? Her mind switching to figure out she would explain how she suddenly could walk again to her classmates. 'Maybe slowly fake a recovery ... but how slow? And how does recovering from a bone disease even look..." The thoughts helping her overcome the pain as she set the next dish aside and went for a bowl caked with ice-cream.

Overcoming the disease! "The Truth." Eevee lost track of the time between thoughts and washing dishes until her mom's footsteps moved away from her drawing her focus to face her mom. "Well turns out I still don't have a full understanding of my left arm's powers. I managed to halt the decay but I could not remove it and repair the damage I caused you Eevee. I'm sorry." Eevee's jaw must have hit the floor when her mom said she was sorry. She knew her mom as the tough women who would die before she said something like that. Moving away from the counter as she tipped slightly before her mom moved to support her.
"My mom saying she is sorry about something? Is the world coming to an end or something?" Eevee spoke with a bit of worry as her mom laughed and helped get her to the wheelchair so she could relax. She was still a long way from recovering but now she could relax knowing her life might have a bit more time of the half freedom she was growing used to. "So where is Lucifer? I'll have him finish up the cleaning in here while we catch up in your room." The mention of her father made Eevee look worried before she spoke.
"I don't know, two days ago he asked me to hold down the arcade till he came back later that night but ... A lot happen and he never showed up I guess." Her mom looked deep in thought for a moment before walking over to lock the front door and looked out the window causing Eevee to worry slightly. "So then HE came back around for you ... Eevee you did not seem shocked when my hand turned to bone ... Do you also have powers?" Eevee looked down at her legs, she could lie, but after her mom seemed so worried she chose it was time to let her know the truth.

Overcoming the disease! "The Sinister energy." The moment Eevee let her powers surface she felt something off about them. Her eyes blackened out as she screamed trying to claw whatever blocked her vision. She felt her body being wrapped tightly and the terror just kept rising until she heard a cracking sound and one of her eyes saw her mom looking worried. "Do you not like using the power, or does it hurt you when you try to use it?" Eevee moved her hand into view to see the silver metal encasing her and, this was not her release, at least not how she remembered it.
"It's different ... a lot different than it used to be ... It ... It feels like darkness ..." Eevee was not ready to be hugged by her mom but it helped her relax for a few moments until she noticed her whole body had changed in some way along with her cloths. As the hug finished Eevee went to look at a mirror and did not like what she saw at first. She looked like a killer, the black clothing and metals and the mask over her face, almost like the unseen beast. Her hair a light red showing under the hood as she reached to remove the mask.
"Well sure it can be seen as darkness, but you can make it whatever you want in your mind. You think it was easy to accept my hand killed things I touched at first? Much less control it like I can now? Eevee turned to face her mom, her arms moving back down to her sides as she looked through the torn piece of the mask and the covered eye. Her fist clenched tightly making the metal spark before she spoke. "Start explaining to me from the beginning. Who is 'HE' and what does it have to do with father's vanishing act?" Eevee wanted answers first, find out her powers came later.

Overcoming the disease! "I am the worst being alive..." Eevee's mom looked towards the door like she was expecting someone for a few moments before turning to face Eevee with her no time for games look she used to get when Eevee asked if she wanted to play a video game with her. "First off the one you keep calling you dad is not your dad. He is an old friend of your father's. The HE I spoke of before is your dad, who died trying to see you when you had been born and turned hollow. His obsession with you is what drives his hollow side it seems." Eevee tried to wrap her head around what was just said. Her powers flickering smoke the more she thought about it.
"So all this time he was just acting like my dad? And what is a hollow? More so why am I the thing that drives my dad in whatever he became?" Eevee had so many questions to keep asking but her mom moved her hand to stop her as she used her other hand to pinch the bridge of her nose. "Hollow, souls that go bad, your dad was a good man in life but when he died I could only assume his self-hate caused him to go bad. The hollow are beast with a hole somewhere on their bodies and a white mask." If more of Eevee's face could be seen her mom would see the darkness over her eyes.
'All this time ... All those unseen beast I thought where just that, beast ... had been human ... I am worse than a killer ..." Eevee fell to her knees causing her mom to over looking at her daughter with worried eyes. However Eevee quickly slapped the helping hand away as her eyes burned with rage. "If you knew all of this why did you not tell me sooner!? If I had known those had been humans once ..." Tears fell from Eevee's eyes as she remembered watching the hollows be killed and doing nothing to help them. She was even happy when they died making her feel much worse.

Overcoming the disease! "Who is knocking at the door?" Eevee needed to be slapped back to reality, and her mom was more than happy to hit the child upside the head with a stern glare. "You killing them or them dying to those in robes, Shinigami lets them move onto a new life, some can't be saved others get to start over. I did not tell you any of this because I was hoping you would not become part of the war between good and evil Eevee. Forgive a mother for not wanting her daughter to see the true horrors of the world!" Eevee would have sworn her heart would sink for making her mother cry, but she felt nothing. She wanted to cry with her but all she could do was feel betrayed.
"So what does my dad have to do with ... Lucifer's disappearance?" Eevee wanted to change the subject, she wanted to get the answers that always escaped her. Her mom regaining some composure looked at Eevee and then to the door. "Lucifer offered to watch over you since I was still dealing with the military to get released. He said if he was ever gone when I got back that his partner would arrive and get you somewhere safer." The words hit Eevee like a bus, she was just supposed go along with all of this? Running from a hollow that was her dad with a person she most likely never met?
"Look I know mothers are supposed to look after their kid and all, but I don't want to go anywhere with somebody I don't know." - "Why do you think I locked the door and keep checking it? I have not been there for you all these years because I was angry at myself for doing what I did when you had been born, to you and your father." Eevee's mom was cut off by knocking at the front door. Eevee looked to try and figure out who was there before her mom moved to block her view. "Eevee, go to your room and wait to be called." The look in her mom's eyes sent this was no time to fight her so she picked her chair up and went for her room.

Overcoming the disease! "Recalling fond memories to lessen worry!" It took Eevee a few moments after she locked the door to her room to notice she was still in the form made by her powers. It felt so much easier to control now that her body was healed a bit, just the only bad side was the dark emotions bubbled much more in this form. Trying to seal the powers back for a few moments before she fell to the floor back in her weakened body state. She felt her tears start to fall as relief washed over her for the moment. Carefully walking to her beg she let herself fall face first into the pillows and thought about what her mom had said.
"That was not even all my questions yet I can barely take all those in..." Eevee rolled to face the ceiling moving her hand into view to make sure the metal was not there anymore. "One thing I do know is that my power ... is something I need to get control over ... Why it resembles a hollow, why it feels like darkness, and most of all what could I need from a form like that..." Eevee recalled what she saw in the mirror and turned red. She began to wonder if the form was what she wanted deep in her mind only causing her to turn a brighter red.
Rolling to her side she looked towards the door for a moment wondering what her mom was doing. The way she was acting was different and Eevee hoped she would not lose her mom also so shortly after losing her fake dad. The thoughts of all the times Lucifer had been the father for her came rushing back. Back when she was in school a classmate called her cute and Lucifer growled and kept them apart. The day she was supposed to go to a dance he remodeled the living room so they could have a game day, the living room never being set back made her laugh.

Overcoming the disease! "The warm-up training begins tomorrow!" Eevee was snapped from her train of thoughts going down memory lane by the sound of knocking at her door. "It's ok now glass swan, everything has been dealt with." Eevee could hear her mom clear as day, but as she got closer to the door she felt something different. She could not find out how to explain what felt off but she stopped at the door and looked at the lock carefully. "How do I know you're my mom and not someone else?" Eevee grew to regret that as she barely had time to move her chair back as he mom kicked the door down.
"So the boss is always rowdy and reckless! Her daughter looks cute though." Eevee looked to her mom's right to see a women holding a small bear cub stuffed animal while petting it with her free hand. She wanted to ask why the bear but when she noticed the wolf ears and tail she wanted to pet them so badly. "Lynx I told you to wait in the living room until I brought her out!" The wolf girl laughed before running down the hallway as her mom sighed slightly. "Boss? She worked with you in the military?" The look on her mom's face said it was a long story so Eevee smiled and waved to dismiss what she had said.
"Seems they did not want to stay with the group if I was not there so they left shortly after I did. That is a good thing, starting tomorrow we are going to get you into shape. Mostly help you understand that power of yours." Eevee blinked a few times before her mom walked to push her wheelchair into the living room. Two people stood watching TV like they missed their favorite show and seemed glued to it. "The wolf girl you met before is Lynx, she was our group's detector. The one with armor is Foxtrot, our weapon expert. You will see them around a lot as they are moving in." - "Wait what?" -thread end-
