Slightly on the tall side, Chakra stands out more by her stance and vivacious attitude then simple height. She wears her black hair short, in a pixie cut, and prefers loose outfits with lots of flexibility of movement. Her personal favorite is a martial arts gi uniform combined with sarashi (cloth wraps around the chest) and hand/foot wraps, as she appreciates being identified by her profession and passion (plus, they're comfy!). She never bothers with jewelry and sightings of her in formal attire are more rare than bigfoot sightings by an order of magnitude. Her musculature is more tight than large.
Affable and odd, Chakra's informal attitude stands at odds with her position as a martial arts instructor, but her particular blend of serenity and energy works for her as far as she's concerned. She accepts others for what they are, provided they aren't harming those around them (she DOES tend to take pokes at too-large egos, but for their own good as much as the entertainment value) and allows herself to see through surface problems to the deeper issues underlying them.
As a teacher, she considers it her job to instruct, in the dojo and outside it. Sometimes, this is fairly obvious and straightforward. At other times, it is subtle and based in circumstances that mask the underlying point. Chakra is most fond of these "wax on, wax off" moments (being a fan of cheesy kung fu flicks helps here), where epiphany reveals the truth of one's actions. Sometimes, she takes this too far and makes her "lessons" too obtuse, abstract or just plain wrong to be of any use, particularly when she doesn't reveal enough in the hope that her student comes to the right conclusion on their own.
Chakra considers the general position of most instructor in her field one of unintended hypocrisy, if a light one. Training one's body and mind in the combat arts and claiming to be solely about peace and defense is at best ignorance and at worst a pretty lie. This isn't to say she enjoys or encourages thugish behavior, merely an acknowledgement that when one trains to fight, it is because one desires, on some level at the very least, the opportunity to exert power over another. This needn't be a bad thing. The world is infested with monsters and the ability to reject them in whatever form they take is rarely achieved through purely peaceful means. Still, being honest with oneself is critical.

HISTORY
You wanna know my history? You sure? It's pretty weird. And you're not gonna believe a good half of it. Alright, I got time.
I guess to start with, you have to know a thing or two about my parents. Dad's a hard man to like, I guess, 'cause he takes things so seriously. Mom's practically a hermit sometimes. If this all sounds like the start of somethin' pretty bad...well, it had its moments, but for the most part I think I had it pretty decent. Dad's Amachi Saito, you know the name? Yeah, the one with the big dojo on the hill. Home sweet home! Anyway, he's always been pretty driven and wanted me turn out pretty much the same way. Figured if I got the head start, I'd manage to master his style a bit faster than he did. I've been in a gi since before I could walk, really. And yes, it was adorable. Anyway, while dad had me doing forms, Mom had her own ideas about just what I needed to learn. So after I got home from school (and got drilled a few hundred times), she tried to turn me into a mini-guru. Spirit this, meditate that. I'm pretty sure it's why they chose my name the way they did. So I did that too. Tried to open my "inner eye", fasting until my stomach growling was practically an attack, blocking out the world around me etcetera, etcetera.
Thing is, as crappy as it as at first...it worked. At first, it just started feeling decent. "One with everything" is the cliche, right? At peace. But it didn't stop there. I started seeing things in the air, like heat waves but way too big and shaped like stuff. Well, sometimes way too big, sometimes people-sized. I kinda thought I was going bug-nuts crazy. Just like you are right now. I know that look. Yeah, well, you asked for this. Going to let me continue?
Right, well, I shut the training down right then. Hard. DIdn't bother explaining either, 'cause they'd just call me nuts too. Got awkward, but I didn't so much as take a stance for a week. Except the images didn't go away. They started getting clearer and when it got really bad, I eventually lost it. Screamed at them to head back into my subconcious and stay there. The "hallucination" I yelled at, black robes and a sword? I swear, he must have half fallen over in surprise. Maybe he would have explained if a monster the size of a pickup truck didn't come plowing through a wall. Towering thing, white mask. Spooky. I felt it coming a half second before it arrived too. Something was wrong about it. Probably accounting for the gaping whole in its chest. Heh. Told you you wouldn't believe all this. Anyway, I thought I was having an episode or something, maybe end up on tv as one of those shocker cases on a talk show. Then it punched me and the robed guy, sent us both flying. Now, I'm used to being in fights. How to duck, how to roll, how to throw a punch and take one, it's all good. But this thing tossed me aside like a ragdoll before it ate the guy in black. Bit into him. Pretty much the worst thing I ever saw, actually. So I ran. I could fight your average mugger, but something that looked fresh out of a cheesy horror story? I wasn't staying for that. Except it followed me. Leaping and bounding and...Well, it got close. Real close. And I did the only thing I could: punched it clean in its spooky white mask.
That shouldn't have done anything. Even if it was as porcaline like as it looked, that mask was a good two inches thick and I should have broken a couple bones for my trouble. Instead, I felt this...power in me. Like something inside me had been building up for a long, long time and whatever this thing was had brought it all to the front. Aligned it. And the mask cracked like a bullet had gone through. The next part was all instinct. Drill the right forms into someone a few thousand times and they can rely on it. I took a stance and just went with it. It took a bunch of hits, but every time I felt better than the last. Before too long it was lying on the ground, dissentegrating into this oily smoke. Figured that would be the end of it. When I saw people staring at the marks on the ground soon after, I knew I hadn't dreamed it all up. I mean, yeah, I could explain the broken bones as hallucinating pain but the rest? No, I knew it was real.
You still don't believe me? Nah, I don't take that sort of thing personally. Does sound pretty wild, right? Which is why I tried to ignore it...and maybe a part of me wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing if it happened again. So I started up the training again. Dad wasn't too happy about the sudden return after stopping for no obvious reason, but I told him I had a bit of breakdown followed by an epiphany. Technically true, I guess, and he's always a sucker for "I've learned my lesson through hardship" as far as explanations go. So I throw myself back into things, get better. First time I really cared, wanted it for my own reasons. Which, big surprise, shines through when you're doing something hard. I was right, too. More of those masked things followed, after a while. But I got better between each one. Started getting fun, actually.
I stopped being so serious about it though. Not to say I stopped training hard or anything, but once it started being less about "legacy" and more about what I actually wanted, training became fulfilling. Started feeling that way about everything, really. Life's full of great stuff if you let yourself go with the flow. When I really started coming into my own, Dad sorta retired. He still trains by himself, but now he wants me to take on the dojo's instruction. Which is partially why I teach now.
Of course, with the monsters still coming every once in a while, it was only a matter of time before I attracted other attention. The black robes, most importantly. You definitely wont believe me if I told you who they were. Plus, they'd probably screw with your head or kill you, so forget I said that. Apparently, I'd been doing a half decent job as a monster hunter and they were a bit understaffed. They said they'd give me something neat if I kept it up. Mind, they used pretty flowery language the whole time, but that's what it boiled down to. After a little explanation, I said yes.
Which is when they stabbed me in the heart. Literally. Important part of the process, I'm told. Stung like you would not believe. After I kinda-sorta died, I got better and can do it again when I need to. Die, that is. And come back, obviously. SO. My day's pretty busy most of the time. Gotta train myself, plan for my students, teach my students, hunt soul eating monsters made out of people. Keeps me on my toes, let me tell you.
Aaaaaaand you're still looking at me like I told you the moon's made of cheese. Fair enough, it'd be hard to take all that at face value. Proof? Well, I suppose I could tell you a koan about the nature of belief or something, but I think I'll just punch through a wall instead. Which one's your least favorite?
Name: Kyokko (Curving Light) * Number: 26 Class: Kidou Tier: III Type: Bakudō Range: Long Incantation: Unknown Description: Hides the target from sight by bending light. This Kidō can completely mask the presence and reiatsu of the target from detection but if any other combat technique is activated, this Kidou is overwhelmed and broken.
HEALING
OTHER
Name: World Step Dance Type: Supplementary Class: Kidou Tier: III Range: Self Incantation: First ring, iron cradle, horned shadow, eternal malice. Below the brass-tread raging smile, swell and slumber years away. Description: While under the influence of this kidou, the user becomes as tangible as they wish to stone, dirt, wood and the like, permiating through the ground or buildings as they like. Supernatural materials made of such things still affect them normally (so, a wooden zanpactou still hurts as much as normal), only materials not made by a person's power count (soul society/HM etc. buildings count as normal for this purpose, if it matters).
BATTLE SKILLS
Name: Hand of Creation Type: Martial Arts Style/Passive Class: Hand to Hand Range: Self Tier: I Description: Originally formed from her family's mundane style, Hand of Creation is both more advanced than its predecessor and, thanks to Chakra's ability to mold reiryoku, possesses actual supernatural power. Drawing from the nature of the Five Elements, the style turns the building blocks of the world into tools for those attuned to its mysteries. Stances are extremely diverse, depending on which technique will flow from them, to the extent that only a practiced eye for martial arts is likely to agree that they have any similarity at all. Aside from allowing the use of the style's actual techniques, this passively permits the user to "flow" through natural (ie. non-power based) expressions of an element. A rockslide won't hurt Chakra (provided it wasn't the result of a technique), nor a natural fire, nor drowning. Dangerous elements simply wrap about and dissipate. Worked materials deliberately used to attack the subject bypass this, damaging her as normal.
Teaching Hand of Creation to a non-awakened individual is partially possible. Learning to use this technique is a long, involved process. At first, only the basic movements are taught (which aren't much good on their own). Then, the meaning starts to become clear as the esoteric nature of the training begins to nudge the Soul Sleep and Chain Link into greater activity. With time, patience and effort, a normal human can activate their reiatsu by learning this technique, although they will not immediately develop their own release.
Each technique possesses an elemental alignment (Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Void). The style's corresponding techniques are as follows:
Name: Bone of Creation Type: Offensive Class: Hand to Hand Tier: III Range: Short (Contact) Description: Mountains are like the bones of the world, enormous spires of rock to endure the ages and everything the world can throw at them. Taking a solid stance, Chakra channels this unbreakable nature into her body before unleashing it on something likely less sturdy. On innanimate objects, Chakra does heavy damage and increases the fragility of the target inanimate object by half (things like zanpactou and fullbring don't count), smashing through it with incredible force. Used on the ground itself produces a localized earthquake. Used on a living body (which doesn't trigger the weakening effect mentioned above), it is well suited to damaging bones and the like, reducing speed with each blow alongside its damage (x1 reduction per hit, max x2 reduced). The duration of the slowing effect lasts 5 post cycles from the most recent hit.
Name: Brand of Creation Type: Offensive Class: Hand to Hand Tier: III Range: 50m Description: Aligned with Fire, this technique symbolizes the tenacity of Fire. If not put out, it will keep attack and attacking its target until it breaks through its defenses and consumes it. Brand of Creation sends sparks of heat and light flickering about the target's body. While not directly harmful, anyone with this technique feels their attacks drawn subtly to the target. Every time an attack misses, the sparks grow brighter and more energized, drawing such attackers more and more until either 5 post cycles pass or the subject is struck once. In essence, each missed attack makes the next more accurate. The ability is dispelled once contact is made, even if it's not damaging contact. This cannot guarentee a hit, it merely makes one more likely.
Name: Breath of Creation Type: Offensive or Offensive/Binding hybrid Class: Hand to Hand Tier: II-IV Range: 50m Description: We never really question the air around us, do we? Not until it starts acting out, at any rate. Breath of Creation allows the user to seize control of localized air movements, pushing and pulling it. Speed and power are inversely proportional (as it takes a bit longer to move larger, more dense flows), with Tier II being bala speed, Tier III half that, and Tier IV moving at Cero's level. If the air is pulled in multiple directions away from an individual (which is a Tier IV use), this produces a painful asphixiation, binding a target with stolen flows of solidified air.
To command the air, one must not disrupt the air too greatly. Using a stepping technique instantly shatters Breath of Creation.
Name: Blood of Creation Type: Offensive/Binding Class: Hand to Hand Tier: IV Range: Direct Contact Description: The world possesses massive amounts of water, intrinsic to life as humanity understands it. The body, curiously, mimics this. Humans, spirits and even monsters like hollows possess an unusually high ratio of water within them, mostly in the form of blood. When the user of this technique strikes, the flow of blood is momentarily (and painfully) disrupted harshly. Aside from the intense pain, minor internal damage is done as the veins and arteries within the body twist and break somewhat. A single strike is rarely lethal, but multiple hits with Blood of Creation may require hospitalization. The binding aspect of the technique comes from the two post cycles it takes for a target to get their blood moving steadily in the right direction again, making movement almost impossible. Blood of Creation cannot be used on the same target while they are still suffering from a previous use; the blood is already too chaotic to disrupt to any meaningful degree.
Name: Being of Creation Type: Defensive Class: Hand to Hand Tier: III Range: Self Description: Still your heart, your thoughts and peer into the quiet silence that is the soul. It's not so different from the world, really. Take away distractions, and little separates people from places and places to ideas. Easing into a strange stance, Chakra begins to fade and vanish. For as long as she sustains the technique (up to 5 post cycles), she is no longer functionally there. She still exists, after a fashion, but in a place/state where she can not affect the real world, nor be affected by it. If she bothers to open her eyes, she simply finds herself in empty space filled with gray-white smoke. When she wants to return to normal, she simply releases the ability.
Name: Frozen World Type: Stepping Class: Stepping Tier: I Range: Long Description: Chakra's personal stepping ability (while not in spirit form), Frozen World doesn't quite live up to its name, but Chakra finds it evocative and semi-catchy, so it stays. When active, the world around her seems to slow to a crawl (save for those using shunpo-equivelents, who appear to be move normally). This is a trick of perspective; the world's moving just fine, Chakra's simply moving much, much faster. It is mechanically identical to shunpo.
Name: Shunpo (Flash Steps) Class: Stepping Type: Stepping Range: N/A Tier: I Description: A movement technique that allows the user to move extremely quickly over short distances. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. Therefore what determines the level of skill in a user for Shunpo is best characterized by how fast one can get from A to B in the least amount of steps.

HUMAN POWERS

HUMAN ABILITIES
Name: Muladhara Type: Supplementary/Passive Class: Human Powers Tier: I-III Range: Self Description: Located at the base of the spine, Muladhara represents and rules over the most basic need: survival. When faced with danger, it demands such a thing be met, either with flight or with force. Channeling her reiryoku through this point sparks deep instincts. In battle, it has two modes: Passive and Active.
Passively, it is simple. Threats to the self must be met with devasting force, and thus it amplifies her strength by x2.
When activated, the passive effect is refocused (disabling it temporarily) into a survival mode. Instead of striking back, it attempts to shield the body by wrapping it in hardened spiritual energies. This protective barrier is nearly invisible but only surrounds the body within a few inches, tossing aside attacks of a strength equal to or less than its Tier.
Name: Svadhishthana Type: Passive/Supplementary Class: Human Powers Tier: I-III Range: Short Description: Located in the Sacrum, Svadhishthana governs joy, violence, pleasure, addiction and creativity. Chakra combines the first four with this technique.
When pointed inwardly, this ability is a passive effect granting x2 to speed. Her body charged with living energy, it cries out to move with haste to the next joy of life.
Pointed outwardly (which, like with Muladhara, deactivates the passive aspect), Chakra's reiatsu takes on a curiously pleasant sensation. Being within 10 feet is relaxing and enjoyable, flooding the target's mind with dopamine, generating a mild form of euphoria. By itself, this is highly distracting but manageable (and, it should be noted, not actually rejuvenating). With direct contact by a strike, the effect is magnified a hundredfold. Chakra's strikes don't hurt when Svadhishthana is active; rather, they induce an ecstatic sensation so extreme as to be debilitating.
Motion, coordination and accuracy drop like a stone as the mind rebels from trying to focus on anything but the feeling. Speed and strength suffer from a debuff for the duration equal to one less than the Tier of Svadhishthana (so, a Tier III would be x2 debuffs).
Repeated blows resets the duration, but the debuf cannot exceed x5. If the attack runs into a buff, the effects crash into one another and negate themselves in a 1-to-1 manner (a x2 debuff in a x4 buff will result in a x2 buff). From an experience perspective, they do seem to get more intense each time, but this is a trick of the mind and doesn't change the mechanical effect.
In its current state of evolution, this technique cannot exceed x2 debuffs. Further development into higher tiers are needed for it to reach its maximum potential.
If it need be said, sensations this intense are addictive. Multiple blows eventually start making the target wish to be struck, despite themselves. Willpower must be expended to keep at the top of one's game after being affected by Svadhishthana, lest the urge to indulge become too strong.
Name: Manipura Type: Passive/Offensive Class: Human Powers Tier: I-III Range: Long/Short Description: Based at the Navel, Manipura deals with a complex range of things from digestion and fear to personal power and introversion. In its current form, it deals mostly with digestion and introversion.
Inactive form (Passive): Pulling herself inward in a form of moving meditation, Chakra closes her eyes and blocks out the world. Not to be interrupted, she unconsciously feels incoming attacks and motions, allowing her to dodge more effectively then when her eyes are open. This isn't precognition or the like, merely a subtle but potent form of spiritual sense. She can, if she wishes, identify everything nearby that is not actively (and effectively, given her own Reiatsu Control) hiding itself, but the technique is mostly designed to be used as instict. It doesn't guarentee dodging by any means, but it does help noticably.
Active form (Offensive): Digesting a bit of the world around her, Chakra imbues its essence into her spiritual aura. This could be the rock beneath her, or the air around her, nearby flame or just about anything that has a visible expression. This flits about her body and strengthens her attacks, doing increased damaged based on tier. Slamming the active energy into its original source (ie. the open air for air, the stone for ground) sends the attack through it as a conduit, giving the strike a range of up to 100 meters, provided the attack enters and leaves through the material. She can maintain this active form for up to 5 post cycles. As with the others, using its active form disables its passive for the duration.
Name: Anahata Type: Passive/Binding Class: Human Powers Tier: I-III Range: Medium Description: Found within the heart, Anahata is tied to love and tenderness, but also to the seat of the soul. Tied to the soul sleep and chain link, it bears a deep binding with spiritual power. It is for this reason that Anahata feels easier to use than it really is, and why it is so deceptively restrictive.
Inactive form (Passive): To work properly, the heart must be free to feel on its own, without interference. When faced with unnatural restriction, it recoils. Binding arts, poisons, curses and other negative effects (but not outright wounds) are rejected by this form. Techniques that would be at a disadvantage to Anahata's tier slide off. Stronger results are weakened, but not removed entirely. Illusions aren't canceled, although the user becomes more sensative to the decrepencies. The heart knows when it is lied to.
Active form (Binding): Anahata may speak to the hearts of others, infiltrating the soul and inflicting on it the blessing (or, depending on one's perspective, curse) that is tenderness. This functions as a binding art, holding the individual in place and holding back the reiryoku that normally flows through them. Victims of this ability find that attempting to use techniques is possible, but damaging. Low level abilies might cause the target to burn themselves somewhat, while high level abilities tear their bodies from the inside. In essence, whenever they use a technique while under this effect, they harm themselves as if struck by an ability one tier lower (thus, passives and tier 1 techs are still safe). This damage can never exceed Anahata's tier however. While the binding holds, Anahata cannot be turned inward (keeping the passive disabled). Anahata only has an effect on energy patterns with some degree of order to them (which is to say, they are actually a technique). Simple reatisu bursting doesn't trigger this, and may be used to deal with the binding as normal without damaging the victim.
ZANPAKUTOU
Kaigan
Martial Arts
Be, Kaigan
SEALED FORM
Kaigan takes the form of a set of black hand wraps that coils about Chakra's body. When sealed, this only occupies the hands. When released it extends considerably, most of it is concentrated in the arms and legs, but enough remains in the torso to serve as a blocking points/weapons. Despite its cloth like appearance, it is still as durable/damaging as one would expect from a zanpactou of its level.
SPIRIT APPEARANCE
Kaigan is an an avatar of truly epic scale. Not a humanoid figure at all but the very mountain on which the inner world is formed, he speaks with an enormous, echoing voice from everywhere at once, often speaking in riddles and koans to inspire his "student" to introspection. When dealing with more physical training (and the avatar is a firm believer in the idea that self-improvement never ends), he can manifest in a smaller scale body, a towering man of advanced age but dignified bearing and fluid grace, bearing a staff of brass he wields as often as his bare hands.
SPIRIT PERSONALITY
Kaigan accepts his nature as a fragment of a greater whole, but believes that, as a purer, more focused entity, he should bear the position of teacher until such time as Chakra proves she is the one instructing him. He longs for the day, but has immense standards and demands perfection in body and mind to an incredible degree and he will absolutely not compromise.
INNER WORLD
Chakra's inner world is a climbing mountain path, a linear trail that starts in a valley and climbs cliffs to a shocking pair of peaks over the clouds. The more in tune the spirit is with the body, the easier it is to walk the path. When first introduced to it, Chakra walked for hours to reach the peak. Thereafter, it occurs much faster, although still slowly enough to bring to mind just how far she has to go. The valley and mountains both have old, monastic buildings built into them, but it is utterly empty apart from her avatar.
SHIKAI
SHIKAI APPEARANCE
Kaigan takes the form of a set of black hand wraps that coils about Chakra's body. When sealed, this only occupies the hands. When released it extends considerably, most of it is concentrated in the arms and legs, but enough remains in the torso to serve as a blocking points/weapons. Despite its cloth like appearance, it is still as durable/damaging as one would expect from a zanpactou of its level.
SHIKAI ABILITIES
Name: Flurry of Blows Type: Offensive Class: Zanpactou Spirit Tier: II-IV Range: Short Description: To face a master in tune with their body is an interesting (if painful) experience. With sufficiency speed and precision, it often feels as if the unfortunate target is being struck from multiple places at once. In Chakra's case, this is a bit more literal. Kaigan allows her to strike from multiple angles at once. While it appears that her attacks are being copied at different angles, the truth is that these impacts are the very real thing, co-located rather than duplicated. The real her is attacking in more than one place at once. The range is fairly short at about 10 feet max from the point of impact.
The number of colocations at once is dependent on Tier.
Tier II: 10 locations at once. Tier III: 30 locations at once. Tier IV: 50 locations at once.
Attack power is equal to whatever is part of her initial attack.
Name: Inner Flow Type: Offensive Class: Zanpactou Spirit Tier: II-IV Range: Short Description: Within every person are flows of power, pooling and trickling about in lakes and streams. Humans have called this power many things over the years, prominantly "ki". Many spiritually aware entities prefer "reiryoku". Either way, the torrent of energies within are the source of mystic strength...but they also present an intriguing weakness. Chakra may interact with these energies, mingling her own into others with close contact.
The exact effect depends on the target. Against a spiritually empowered individual, she can grasp a hold of it and mingle it with her own when working her own techniques, partially using her opponent's energy. She can't completely substitute the energies of her abilities. In effect, she pays an amount of reiryoku equal to one tier lower than her next technique, and the rest is paid for by the opponent. Note that she must use this next technique within three post cycles before the connection formed by Inner Flow vanishes; at no point does it ever enter her own reiryoku flows (and thus, she can't use it to "fill up" her reiryoku in a vampiric manner).
The effect is reversed when used on someone without active spiritual energies (ie. regualr humans or pluses). Her own reiatsu's preasure squeezes energy from her into their soul sleep, shocking it into activation. The effect is profound and strange, as it is very literally activating a new sense. The awakening may be temporary or permanent, but neither comes with release powers by default, as these are highly personal expressions of an individual's soul. Permanently awakened individuals will need to develop them on their own.
Name: All Things in Balance Type: Defensive Class: Zanpactou Spirit Tier: I-IV Range: Varies Description: All destruction is force or deprivation, mostly the former leading into the latter. Heat, muscle, electricity, blades, spiritual weight, all violent action exerts force on things that can't handle that. The answer, therefore, is to simply send it elsewhere. This ability acts as counter to incoming destructive phenomenon (usually from a person, but even things like falling damage counts). Converting the energy into a nullified form, Chakra sends it through her reiryoku paths before restoring the balance by firing it out again. This technique can only immediately counter techs matching its invoking Tier. Using it on higher level attacks is self-damaging. These attacks disrupt her internal reiryoku flows before they are released (the greater the difference between All Thing in Balance and the attack, the worse this ends up being).
Name: Meditation Type: Healing Class: Zanpactou Spirit Tier: II-IV Range: Short (10m) Description: Marshaling her inner energies, Chakra may more properly attune the physical body to the shining splendor of the spirit, repairing damage and unwanted influences. This may target herself or someone within close range, purging undesirable effects up to the Tier of the Meditation and weakening those beyond it to a proportionate degree. Healing actual damage is faster and more effective based on Tier, of course, but truly grave injuries are beyond meditation's reach. It can keep a critically wounded individual stable for as long as it lasts, but can't actually improve them.
Actually adopting a meditative stance is best. Trying to use this ability while moving is possible, but it strictly limits other options; while using this technique, Chakra cannot use any techniques at all that are not Self or Short range.
