HISTORY
As a human, Karuta was born into a peasant family in the period right before the Meiji Restoration. Her life was filled with the boredom and safety that comes of having a safe, but normal life. As a result, Karuta always hoped for a better life and desired to rise up in society by possibly being adopted by a better family or being a hidden heir. She died on a stormy night, slipping on the muddy road into a ditch before any significant events could occur.
As a plus, Karuta warned lone travelers to not die in the same manner she had, whether spiritually aware or not. She was initially disappointed with how her afterlife was as it seemed nothing like what she'd been told by her parents or priests through way of Shinto and Buddhist myths and stories. After a few decades though, Karuta was discovered by a Shinigami and sent to the Soul Society where she ended up in South Rukongai District 77.
In District 77, Karuta learned more about the various events that had occurred in the human World since her death as well as the general rules and situation of Soul Society from a child's perspective. She quickly made up her mind to become a Shinigami and took on the surname “Kikawa” to honor the ideals of the leaders and populace of the Meiji Restoration, as merely having a surname would, in her mind, be more than enough to represent her respect. Despite the conditions within District 77, Kikawa Karuta retained a positive outlook on life and slowly learned what she needed to know before taking the entrance exam for Shin'ō Academy and passing.
In Shin'ō Academy, Kikawa Karuta learned the techniques necessary for a Shinigami's work as well as a couple of Kidō, not that she was any good at using them. Over the six years at Shin'ō Academy, Kikawa Karuta gradually began to sense and befriended her Zanpakutō, Fūrin. The odd appearance of a pierrot as her Zanpakutō spirit was initially off-putting, but she got used to it as the clown taught her how to use his abilities better and even a few non-combat tricks such as juggling and comedic routines. During the last year at Shin'ō Academy, Kikawa Karuta finally managed to master her Shikai before graduating and applying to join the 11th Division of the Gotei 13.
Having joined the Gotei 13, Kikawa Karuta worked on managing her duties as a Shinigami while also learning techniques for situations where she'd be unable to use her Zanpakutō. She gradually fell in love with combat and worked harder to be able to fight at a higher level with weapons against enemies of all kinds. While out on duty, Kikawa Karuta learned about and came to like Japanese idols. Because of this, she memorized as many of their songs and dances as possible and works to incorporate them into her Zanjutsu. As a result, Kikawa Karuta's Zanjutsu is fairly odd in comparison to other Shinigami's styles.

Description:KIDOU SPECIALISATIONS Eishōhaki (詠唱破棄, "Incantation Abandonment"): is the skill in which a Kidō practitioner skips using a spoken incantation completely, but it drastically weakens the spell. This is applied as a 1-2 tier drop in the spells power depending on ones Kidou mastery, 2 for Beginner up to Advanced, and 1 for Mastered and above. However this also lowers the spells cooldown to match the lowered tier, to a minimum of Tier I.e.g A Tier IV Kidou be cast with Eishohaki as a tier II, its cooldown will also be the same at 0 posts. BATTLE SKILLS Name: Karate Class: Hand to Hand Style Type: Supplementary Range: Self. Tier: N/A Description: Karate is one of the most renown self-defense Martial Arts style that there is. While most might think it's been blown up by Hollywood, it's not entirely true or false, but the accuracy and deadliness of this style is not something that can be ignored. Often times Karate is referred to "The Style of the Open Fist", for it accompanies no weapons at all, and often times uses spear-handed hits to dislocate and disarm opponents. Karate is both taught as a sport and self defense, but is more so as a Self Defense because of it's nature. Sparring in Karate isn't easy, and in rounded tournaments can cause damage to a match from all the strikes that a Karate user pulls out before it ends. To train Karate, it is more spiritual then one would aware, working around self-control and calmness in fights to utilize it's plethora of abilities. The main way to train Karate is to focus directly on frontal punches and linking together other attacks in rapid motion, and repeating this process at a random conjunction of moves constantly, and until the user is worn out enough to not be able to continue on with the mix of moves. Tier: II Description:The fundamentals to Karate revolve all around the user's ability to utilize their form and then their current grip on the art itself. The fundamentals of Karate grant the ability of utilizing them at any time, which if the user wished, would invoke power from their core and power whatever hit they are throwing out with extra power. This can be easily spammed, requiring no downtime, and has no sign of it existing outside of a sliver of their reiatsu appearing along whatever appendage they just used to land a hit. Name: Kata [Shape] Class: Hand to Hand Technique Type: Offensive. Range: Self. Tier: III Description: The "shape" or "form" of ones stance in Karate is dependent on how high they are up, your form - and all variants - showing how powerful you are, for each form in on itself gets harder to master, but more deadly in the long wrong. There is one universal thing about all the forms though, they put emphasis on the thrusting hand, to which each form allows to release the arm at incredible speeds, this simply emphasizes on it. By focusing power into the muscle and hand and augmenting the swing, the user of this ability can speed up their hand to the speed of a cero from no speed at all. Most people wouldn't walk away from this. Name: Kumite [Meeting of Hands] Class: Hand to Hand Technique Type: Offensive / Defensive. Range: Self. Tier: II Description: Kumite acts around the ideal of disarming an opponent, usually focusing on an opponent who has gotten too angry / arrogant in their attack and has momentarily given up defending themselves. By utilizing their hands, a Karate user can instantaneously shift a punch that was sent at them and snap the wrist all the way back with a flick of their finger, which is enhanced with power. This will often break the wrist entirely, causing immense pain and a lack of movement in it. The focal point that determines the basis of this technique is speed. Therefore what determines the level of skill in a user for Shunpo is best characterized by how fast one can get from A to B in the least amount of steps. SEALED FORM A sleek 70 cm katana with a wind chime attached to the end of the hilt. The sheath is a standard, unaltered sheath for asauchi. SPIRIT APPEARANCE Fūrin's appearance is that of an Italian pierrot however he has what appears to be makeup separating his face into two halves: one side black and the other white. The entirety of his clothes follow the same theme, though the colors are interchanged. E.G. A black-colored arm touching a white-colored chest, a white-colored foot on a black-colored leg.
