Tenshi let out a soft gasp as she felt the hug from behind, before chuckling slowly. "I'd say you made me burn my hand," she started as she turned around his arms. "But, being spiritually attuned and all." She arched a soft eyebrow. She hated her own small size. Like really. Why was she so short? More often a curse than a blessing. She tip-toed her way up in his arms and pressed a soft kiss on his lips. "We're having rice with miso," she murmured under her breath. "It's all I could find and prepare on this short notice." Her eyes widened at the sudden realisation that she was still preparing breakfast. And cooking meant things could burn if she wasn't paying attention!
She spun around in his arms again and went back to work, hoping that she didn't burn their breakfast. Well, having seven hundred years under the belt made you look for hobbies. And one was cooking. And after millenia of the same hobby, you tend to get damn good at it. Distractions were an artist's bane. And her distraction was the handsome and lovable Alrich Detlef. She closed her eyes with a soft sigh. "Don't distract me unless you want burned rice," she said, a hint of cheek to her voice.
Chuckling to himself at her words Alrich backed up slowly. "Burn't rice would be better than anything I've made. Even after all these years I still haven't been able to cook. Take-out forever for me." His light laugh fell off as he turned, looking around the kitchen he now felt out of place. These situations were also something he had not been used to for a long time. I mean, he was about to sit down and eat a meal with the love of his life. When was the last time he had sat down for any meal in the last half century? Awkwardly moving to the table at the center of the room, he pulled out a chair and sat down after turning it so he could watch Tenshi do her thing.
"So .." He began in a drawn out tone to try and converse with her, but quickly stopped with a grin. She'd smack him if he continued to distract her, so he watched her from behind with a content look on his face. It felt good, to have her back. He only hoped this time it was for good, but hope could only go so far when you were in the same predicament as they were. Happiness and content were short lived fairy tales in their reality. But because of all the shit he had been through, Alrich would not give up moments like these for anything. He just had to make due with what he got.
"Oh, you'd be surprised at the taste it leaves in your mouth," Tenshi smirked softly, not turning around to him, softly humming to herself as she focussed on the rice and miso. But, gods be damned. She couldn't get a moment to concentrate on her cooking. She glanced over her shoulder at Alrich, her eyebrow arched. "So?" She inquired, a wooden spoon in her hand visible. The object of choice she'd smack him with if he decided to persue conversation. There were moments she had to concentrate. This was one of them. Well, rice with white miso, she had cooked far more difficult. But she wanted this to be perfect.
It was their first breakfast together after six centuries. Flaws weren't allowed. She glanced back at the furnace, frowning as she felt something wet running down her cheek. Tears?
She dabbed her hand against the substance and pulled back, arching an eyebrow at the crimson blood that now stuck to her hand.
Not now. Any time but now. She froze in place and grit her teeth, clenching her fist shut. He wasn't allowed to know. This'd just ruin it entirely. And if he did find out? Would he leave? Would they lose eachother like they did before?
Would she end up alone once again? Because of this curse? The burden that rested on her shoulders?
The wooden spoon in her hand snapped in two, calling her back to reality, eyes wide and more blood streaming down her cheeks. She let out a soft sob and suddenly sunk to her knees, before curling up into a fetal position, hugging her knees frantically. Her radiant green eyes were now a dark shade of crimson. Small and narrowed, in great distress. Blood continuously seeping down from her eyelids.
Not now. Not like this. Not while he was here. Another shivering sob left her.

Alrich took heed of the subtle warning she gave him with a smile. He could not get over how much he missed her, with just being somewhat normal. His eyes lounged over her body as she went back and forth by the kitchen stove, busy with their breakfast. This. This is what he had been missing out on for so long because of those idiots in the Soul Society. All he wanted was a normal life, was that too much to fucking ask for? Just even a notion of normal life could be enough for him. Which was why he was enjoying his moments with Tenshi once again.
Still busy cooking Alrich would find himself stretching and with a yawn he was about to crack a sarcastic remark however the sounds of her crying as well as dropping to the floor snapped him out of his sleepy and somewhat childish banter. A look of horror grew on his face as he quickly scrambled over to her, he cradled her in his arms while he frantically asked her if she was okay. There was just so much blood all over her face, did she cut herself? Did she slip and fall? All of these questions he asked her as he tried to clean her face off to no avail. The blood just seemed to come out of nowhere.

Cutting her, slipping and falling. Those were mortal ordeals. Mortal wounds and hurts she was impervious to. It made her feel melancholic at times. She always wanted to accidently cut her hand while cooking. Right now, she could take the knife, flick it around and stab in her hand. Even if it would be able to pierce her skin, she'd immediately regenerate in a glow of reishi. And the same went for Alrich. But, she didn't regenerate. For she was not hurt. It was merely a side effect. Of absorbing the souls of still living people. Though it only started after she absorbed the same person that managed to unlock her merger ability.
"Alrich," she murmured, laying in his arms now, the bloody tears still rolling from her cheeks. "I'm," she glanced away from him, wiping away one of the tears. "I'm not the girl you fell in love with any longer," her sight slowly lowered to the floor as she slumped back in his arms. "Remember... When I said I wouldn't kill anyone?" She said, looking up to him again, hand reaching up to rest on his chest. "When I promised that I wouldn't?" She inquired. Alrich was more of an extreme to her. But when she was younger, she told herself she wouldn't use her gifts to harm others.
Needless to say, she broke that promise over a thousand times by now.
Alrich sighed. This what not the answer to what was happening that he was expecting. By the way she was acting towards what their race was forced to do, he was feeling really uneasy about what he himself has done. The last hundred or so years that has gone by for Alrich have been him at his worst. He was tired of hiding and not being who he was. But even that fell short, these last eight years have him recovering for what has done. The mental torture he was put through afterwards, it still haunted him to this very day.
"You have nothing to be ashamed of Tenshi..." He kissed her on the forehead. "None of us are innocent anymore, but were not bad people. We are as normal as we can get. And yeah, this isn't normal. But, no matter what anyone else thinks, you will always have me. And I will always you." He had blood all over himself at this point but he didn't care. All that mattered was that he had her back, and he would not lose her again. "You are the same person I fell in love with, and that will never change."

She shook her head slowly, shaking her head. "Maybe not, but still," she murmured softly, glancing up at him again, blinking away the bloody tears. The curse of consuming not only the dead, but the living as well. "I... loathe killing," she spat out out. Bitterly so. Though it was a nescessity. It was kill or be killed. Hunt or starve. A law of nature. One you couldn't afford to ignore. Though the words he spoke, they were soothing, comforting. She found herself captivated by the way his lips moved, nodding faintly. "I... I will," she answered, hoping so deeply that he spoke the truth. That they finally could be together. Undisturbed.
Though she severely doubted she was still the same girl he fell for. The same charming, innocent girl that she used to be. Even after created by the Soul Society, there was a sense of purity, even nobility to her. All that had faded now. She was more powerful, more wiser. At he cost of her innocence being lost. At the cost of a majority of scars that littered her back now. And a majority of scars that plagued her mind. Traumas, pain and hurt. Plagued dreams and petrifying nightmares.
The hand on his chest softly clutched at him. "I fucking hate them," she hissed under her breath.

"Me too." Alrich sighed as he gave Tenshi an embracing hug. They have scarred so many people with what they have done. And then they go and act all high and mighty about it. They were the lowest of the low in his mind. And he was sure the same thing was in the minds of many, many others. "Lets go get you cleaned up." Alrich would then pick Tenshi up in his arms and would make his way to the bathroom where he would start her a shower. Turning the water on to full blast after he sat her down on the sink he disappeared for a moment before coming back with towels and a new change of clothes.
Setting them on the sink next to her he took her chin in his hand and planted a deep kiss on her lips, the blood that was on her face did not phase him at the slightest. "We will be okay. I promise." He said lightly, "Now come on, lets get this blood off of you." He took a step back to look at her. She was beautiful, even in this state. And he was not sure if she really knew it or not, but if anything could be his saving grace, if it were even possible. It was her.

She buried her face in his chest with a soft exhale, eyes fluttering shut again. The bloody tears by now subsiding again, she was disheveled at best when she was picked up, merely silent, sobbing softly. A voice was screaming at her from the back of her mind. Form up, be proper as she always was. She felt like a child crying for attention at this point and she wanted to suck it up, go back to shouldering the weight and bearing the pain like she had done to this day, each and every day of the past seven hundred years.
She was put down on the small stool infront of the sink, before Alrich left again. Tenshi leaned foward, resting her elbows on her knees and resting her forehead on the back of her hands, taking another deep breath to regain her composure. A soft hand on her chin, the brushing of warm lips against hers caused her eyes to crack open again. "Alright," she murmured. She wanted to believe him. And if Alrich promised things, she knew he'd keep the promise no matter what. But this promise, it was of a massive magnitude. And seven hundred years of experience taught her that it may be alright. But it would eventually turn bad again. A constant series of ups and downs.
"Something is coming. I wont lie, it feels bad in the pit of my stomach." Alrich said softly as he started the shower for her. Steam began to quickly fill the room. He stared at the water for a moment a let out a sigh of fatigue. Forcing a smile he turned to her. "But we have been through hell, and we have made it out. As long as we stay together, everything will work out." He was not truly sure if he was trying to not only make her believe it but himself as well. Taking her hand into his he gave it a squeeze and helped her stand up. Slowly he undressed her before guiding her into the shower. Would they ever have a normal life? Like was it so much to ask for? Were they not allowed to live the life they wanted? Their world had been twisted into one of nothing but fear and hate. Why? Why where they forced to endure this, what had they done to deserve this change of fate. It was easy to blame the shinigami, and rightfully so. But even still, it was forever tiring. The endless of chain of running away and starting a new life, just to have it burned down and embers of hate reignited. Then rinse and repeat. Would it ever stop? Could it?

She glanced up at him, frowning softly. "What do you mean, something bad?" If it was a gut feeling, well, she knew Alrich didn't stick to gut feelings, there was more. He knew more than he let on. Even before he could turn to her, she was behind him, arms wrapped around his stomach and her forehead softly shuffling in between his shoulderblades. "Tell me, Alrich," she murmured softly, blinking softly, the red tears having subsided by now. She leaned back slightly to allow him to turn around. Her hands came to rest on his sides as he spoke. "Yeah," she breathed out her response slowly. As long as they stood together. They could overcome anything.
She undressed with Alrich's help and moved in the tub, the water just running down her scarred and damaged back, she drew her knees up and just let Alrich wash off her face, not saying much else. "It'll all come crashing down, no?" She asked after a brief moment of silence, moving up to pluck the feather from her hair, glancing at it. "It always does, doesn't it?" She put it on the side of the tub and sighed softly. It always did. By no means would this cycle change all of a sudden.
