"You should know that a life lived in the spiritual knowing is cruel." Harsh yet truth filled words fully understood by someone who shouldn't belong there. Hands and throat remained forever marked as modern science couldn't repair either. More than her parents and voice were lost, but an entire future filled with friends. Deep depression and resentment bubbled with anxiety and hatred. Those who couldn't speak lived differently, and Sasha's investment into the occult and urban legends only further distanced herself from others. However, finding those who truly had magic wasn't easy. In all her time Tanya might be the only true person who could, and also understand Sasha.
Tears continued flowing but lips closed and eyes blurred. Turning head, she reached for her phone and began typing slowly. Thankfully she had a 'delete all' button on the app she used for this, making this current situation much easier. Sasha hesitated during her typing, biting lip with heartfelt determination filling her eyes.
"I want to protect the people I care about."
"I want to protect you."
Sitting up, Sasha had now a faint smile while she kept her shoulder connected to Tanya. She'd collected herself and typed one more time.
"Urban Legends. Ghost stories. I've ran into ghosts. Some good, some bad. Help lifted a so called curse from one place. It is dangerous. Scary, but the things you're talking about are maybe even scarier. Even so, I still want to."
She stopped there, showed her the phone again and rested her head on Tanya's shoulder.

Tanya laughed gently and cracked a smile. "I can teach you what you need to know so that you can protect those you care about. But you will need to become a lot stronger than you are now if you want to be able to protect me as well." Sasha's power felt weak but Tanya could sense potential in it. "The power you posses is akin to spiritual infancy. It's still young and weak but with the right guidance you can be taught how to harness that power. Each human's powers are fundamentally the same but how one manifests those powers is as varied and as different as there are people in the world." Tanya paused for a moment before continuing, vaguely uncertain whether or not she should continue this conversation within the confines of the Karaoke bar. Cameras were an interesting invention for capturing moments but they were no better than the eyes of the spiritually inept. Reaching to her necklace, Tanya pulled it up over her head. "This is my weapon." She let that tidbit of information sink into the girl's thought processes for a moment. "My powers, unlike yourself or the other humans in this world, are granted by my birthright as a Quincy. Among my people the powers we posses are more consistent with one another and vary far less than that of regular humans."
Holding the tire-iron shaped piece of her necklace out away from either of them, Tanya summoned forth her cross. Blueish white energy extended from each end of the cross, forming what appeared to be a solidly built bow. The difference however was in its shape. The bow took on a double appearance as if two bows had been fused in the middle to form a crossed double bow. "It looks solid to you and I but be assured this is a form my powers take on. The cameras in this room and people unaware of the spiritual will see nothing whereas you can see a weapon." Retracting the bow-like weapon, Tanya replaced the trinket around her neck. "Depending on how you manifest your own abilities, you may not even need a medium like this, but if you desire something like it at some point then it can be arranged."
After explaining these things to Sasha, Tanya pondered the girl's statements about her physical conditions. "From what you said, your injuries sound more like a directly physical issue rather than something caused by malicious spirits. If you give me some time I may be able to look into a few possibilities regarding these physical issues that bar you from the use of your hands and voice... No promises though, I'm no medical expert." Tanya smiled warmly. It was a weak hope to be able to find someone who could help Sasha's physical problems, but it was one the girl might be able to embrace.

Untold power manifested from mere jewelry. Astonished purple orbs continue watching, entranced from pure amazement. The profound drew Sasha’s attention inward like witnessing something new for the first time. Never before had white and blue melded so beautifully. The harmonus bow etched into her mind, a normally invisible pressure was now visible. An itchy feeling inside her skull was what she normally felt but Tanya seemed fresh. She couldn’t say pure, but fresh in the sense of clean clothing that makes people feel comfortable. And to top it off she was told her hands and voice could be fixed.
“This is a lot to take in.”
“What should we do first? Or, maybe I should show you what I can.”
Placing the phone into her pocket Sasha closed her eyes. Taking in a deep breath and clapping hands together she made a connection with herself. Concentration on herself and only herself, she envisioned an electric cable connecting from her physical body to her spiritual one. Like a mixture of redwood and salt, a faint white light came from her body. Letting her hands down Sasha starting panting and caught her breath.
“White light. A sweet wood smell and salt.”

"Indeed it is. After all there is a lot in this world that no normal person ever gets to experience, even on a spiritually inept level. Adding another level on top of that must seem overwhelming to you." Tanya agreed, watching as Sasha put away her phone and focused inward.
Sasha's results were good for a first attempt. But Tanya knew full well that it would take far more than a simple focus session to draw out the full potential of the girl's powers. "You do indeed have interesting potential. Given your current physical condition, I'll have to come up with a way to train you that doesn't necessarily involve using your hands... at least for the time being."
"I have something in mind. I'm not usually the one who does the training though but I see no reason why I can't make an exception for you." Tanya smiled. She wasn't sure why but she actually wanted to have a direct part in this girl's training.
Words aside, Tanya decided to make use of the time they had left. Picking up the service phone, she called in an order for food and drinks to be prepared and brought. Training could wait. For now they would eat, drink, and be merry.
