Four years without Mama and Papa weighed heavily upon Sasha’s shoulders. Papa once taught Sasha proper fencing technique while Mama taught baking. Through their guidance Sasha learned, yet used only leftovers since their passing. Voices and faces faded away, just as Sasha forgot her own voice as time slipped further and further away. Sasha remained regal and kemp, yet relaxed as is naturally poised,, seemingly unphased by Tanya’s sudden change in tone or words about her own parents.
Keen ear for details, slight changes in vocal tones. Withdrawn mind that recalled old memories, her facial expression and voice withdrawn. That can explain why Tanya had been here for nine years. Such were the thoughts of Tanya, but there was reason for her thought patterns more than because she couldn’t speak. The answer lied behind why. Sasha ate small portions, savoring each bite while changing up the rotation of apple meat and quiche.
“I’ll show you fencing sometime.”
“I’ll bring you lunch tomorrow.”
“Something easy on the stomach during heat.”
“Don’t worry about school. Online class, for now.”
Sasha would need a long bath after today. Her hands were tired and chest warm from excitement, a prickly feeling that brushed to her mind. It had been awhile since her last real conversation.

"I look forward to seeing you're capacity for fencing. If you're interested in continuing your studies in the field I might know someone who could help you." Tanya approved, simultaneously dropping a hint but going no further with it than that.
"I'd appreciate that very much, thank you." The thought of eating more homemade food was indeed a welcome pleasure. Tanya'd already set aside a precooked meal for tomorrow's lunch, but now she had reason to put it back and save it for another day.
"I've actually noticed the increasing trend in students gravitating to the online options. It's much less interpersonal but I do have to say it looks a lot more convenient than having to take time from your day to attend physical classes."
---
After dinner Tanya assisted Sasha in the cleanup. Glad she'd chosen to do so as the girl ended up having another episode with her physical condition. Once the food was put away and dishes were stacked and dried, Tanya bid the child goodnight. Leaving on the kitchen counter for the girl, one of Tanya's regular business cards, one that had a black and white picture sketch of the front of a tow truck on the back. The card she'd given to the girl back at her shop was merely an illusion that, after forty-eight hours or once inquired upon, would vanish without a trace.
To be continued...
