He had to admit, he was a bit surprised when he heard that it was only his girlfriend. Perhaps he had more pictures that he didn't know of, but it wasn't worth digging into at this point. When the Vizard's focus of the situation had shifted from Gage's pictures, to the hollow that he was previously hunting before they had encountered eachother, things seemed to escalate slightly.
Nothing had registered in the Vizard's man for a few moments. His hand grasping his sword ever so more tightly with each growing second. That sudden blankness was quickly filled with suprise when he felt a sensation. A gaze filled with intent, he looked down to see the man's only hand grasping his shoulder in what seemed to be an attempt to drive Yamada away from the Hollow.
He knew this man wasn't someone he wanted to get in a fight with, and he struggled to keep that in his head while fighting his other self. Trying to keep control of something that is half of your entire being is agonizing. But when combined with something that connects to half of your soul as well? It's a dimension of pain that nobody can quite grasp. Yet this man seemed to have a fairly decent understanding.
"It seems you use words well, and it is always appreciated to see such a kind-hearted individual surrounded by worlds' of misery. I'll accept your word in hopes that you make use of this Hollow."
Satoshi took a deep breath, and sighed to let out his stress in slow rhythms.
"Of course. One sec I have to take care of this." Gage gestures at the hollow, as he dials in his phone. "Hey babe, I have that hollow out in Naruki-" he stops as the voice over the phone interrupts him for a second. "Yeah that one. Look, I met someone and I want to get back to the shop so we can sit down and go over a few things but I don't want to leave the hollow here. Do you mind getting the suit and bringing it out here so that you can bring it back?" He turns away as the speech over the phone sounds slightly irritated at the situation. "No, I know. I'm sorry but this is important. I'll make it up. Dinner tonight sound good?" It was almost audible the smile that Gage had gotten as he made his offer. "Thanks darling. I'll see you tonight. Just drop it in the chute by the bank, Lani will pick it up and take it the rest of the way."
"Awesome, so the Hollow is taken care of so we can go." Gage starts down the alley, typing in the address so that she would be able to find the building. "Do you have any means of transportation? How do you get around?"
H"Of course" Said the Vizard. He genuinly didn't mind waiting while he took care of his business. It was something he understood well. Satoshi usually prided himself on his ability to be patient to conduct something.
His eyes squinted in concentration as he heard him talking to what was apprently his 'girlfriend'. He keyed in on the conversation a bit more, knowing he was being nosey. He always had a certain need to gain a perspective of knowledge to what was happening around him. 'An average lady, I suppose' is all he could think when he heard how the conversation progressed. Gage being interupted truly signified that the universal, "Girls are the boss" phrase was, on some level, true.
He also heard something about a suit. At first he naturally thought of a fashion suit, since Gage was still a mortal. But as he heard more he could deduce that it must be some greater use item.
He chuckled when he mentioned dinner with a, "Bit of a family man, hm? Pretty rare these days. I suppose that makes it admirable." He said it low as to not interupt the man's conversation, yet loud enough to make it apparent.
'Awesome' He heard. He nodded his head with a face that said 'cool' and murmured, "Sounds awesome".
'Ooo'. He couldn't help but get excited in his head when he asked how he traveled. He couldn't wait to try out this new technique.
His hand went up as he rubbed the back of his neck as if apologetic. "Well, a bit unorthodox but useful. Teleportation as it were. As long as your shop location is somewhere my reiatsu has previously made contact, I'm able to shift our positions to it. Or the scenic route if you prefer.." He laughed.
Satoshi brought his hand from his neck and pointed it toward Gage, upward in an open palm.
He said nothing as he reached forward, expecting him to grab his hand.
"Its in Karakuratown. Anything near the business district will get us there just fine." Gage smiled but could not help but feel a bit odd that the Vizard had listened in on the conversation. Choosing to not say anything about it though he moves on. "Teleportation is a rare skill. Never actually met anyone with that particular ability myself. Is it something that you taught yourself or is it something that you inherited as a Vizard?" Gage was always full of questions, almost to the point of being obtrusive on others business but even so it was always out of a good hearted curiosity. If there was a technique that was capable of teleportation and it was self taught then perhaps there was more than research that this man could provide.
"What exactly does it need? Just a prior visit? What bout if your energy has been there but remotely, like someone carried a vial of your energy somewhere. Would you be able to teleport there?" It was indeed a rare skill but Gage in actuality had no real want to learn how to perform it, just learn some of its functions. Teleportation was simply another means of travel and personally he did like the scenic route every now and then.
He enjoyed the man having so many questions about Satoshi's abilities. It'll make it seem less suspicious later on when he'll have a vast quantity of questions.
"Karakura town business district? Ah yes of course, it's where I bought my gigai's rather fashionable suit and glasses. You'd be surprised on how much lack of culture spiritual beings have." He spoke.
He shifted as he asked about teleportation, not expecting the rather sudden and specific interest in it. He could understand the idea of it being a rarity to individuals, but he would have assumed that someone with a Shop with information would have witnessed it. He seemed like the witnessing type.
"It's something I discovered not too long ago in my practice of the Shinigami's Flash-step." The Vizard said rather explanitory, as if he was teaching a class.
He giggled a few times when Gage became even more speculative. "It's a bit more complex then that. In order to travel to a spatial location, your body has to have had contact with that spatial area. Your mind is the entity that makes the connection with the location through memory. And memory is a powerful thing. Spiritual energy definitely has a part to play, but it's not the primary source. So unfortunately I don't think that would work."
Gage never figured that the Spiritual world had a lack of culture. Just that they had too much of their old culture so deeply embedded into their lives that there was no room for progress. Perhaps with a regime change the Soul Society would become more open to change, their day to day lives being run by what could only be imagined as figure heads stuck in the past. Ritual can be the death of a society. It had been before and will be again. History does not chose who or what to repeat.
Gage listened, the discription of the technique and its stylized execution being so very...shinigami-ish. So much of their everyday lives seemed to be based on the conceptual thoughts and feelings of the world. More so than any culture he has read about or ever even heard of. It only makes sense though, the fact that the 'concept' of feelings being a tangible material in Soul Society making much of their techniques and styles based on these ideals.
"Thats too bad, So much of your 'techniques' are so loosely based on concepts that I have a decently hard time grasping and really understanding how they work. Maybe one day."
It had already been a little while since Satoshi had stuck out his hand. He was wondering if he was ever going to grab it, so he decided to make the first gesture himself.
He made a deep throat noise to confirm he was listening to him. "Maybe. But concepts are what drive the world, Mr. Mekhanik". Nodding while saying so.
The vizard's hand had then went out for Gage's shoulder, and he placed his palm onto the side of his body that still had the remaining arm. Then with a deep breath, Satoshi began building up his spiritual around the body's of both the individuals. Deep gold with silvers of crimson had begun sprouting in sparks out of their body's, flickering into existance in the air around them as well. He then exhaled.
With this release of breath came a devastatingly large amount of gathered energy that formed into a sort of aura around the two. Gold light lit the area up like a football stadium. With this energy came a feeling of an immense amount of pressure building up in the head, as if you felt like you were going to pop like a grape. You practically do in terms of space.
"I'd say a deep breath is called for." And almost without any time to allow Gage to do so, Satoshi clenched his hand even harder on his shoulder as he tensed his muscles in a further concentrated use of the energy. The golded aura pressed down on their bodies with ungoldy amounts of pressure, but even more remarkable speed. The area around them started to shake and turn fuzzy as if there was massive heat around them. With the ground cracking, the pressure was now enough. With a loud
"ZZZZZZZWOOOT" The two individuals, and everything in a half meter radius was transported along with them.
It was a similar sensation to having someone grab your stomach and just yanked, pulling everything on your body forward as if through a straw. Hitting solid ground once more Gage felt his knee buckle, taking a kneeling stance, his stomach flipping slightly similar to the same way that you would feel if you went sky diving for the first time. "Deep breath." Gage managed to catch his heart and put it back in his chest. "Next time I drive. That was horrible." Standing back up he takes a series of deep breaths. "You have got to figure out some way to get that to not be so...unsettling."
Looking around Gage gets his bearings, the signs on the street corner telling him that they were actually only five blocks from his shop. "Oh hey, that's not too bad. The shop is about five minuets that way." Gage points down one of the streets, the overhead lights dark and flickering. "Don't mind the lights. I did that to keep the locals off the streets out here at night. Just being around here tends to draw the hollows to me and if someone were walking about at night there it too good of a chance that they would get targeted."
Damn that was funny. The Vizard really couldn't help but laugh pretty damn hard at the Fullbringer's expected reaction, taking a few steps away while breathing rather heavily at the Fullbringer's anguish from the teleport. After they were finished teleporting, Satoshi had to take a few moments to catch his breath back up so he could re-communicate with Gage. At least he was feeling some sort of emotional joy, even if it was mixed with some pity for the man's stomach. 'Hah' He thought.
"I could never quite grasp the concept of driving. They always seemed primitive to me, but I suppose humans as a whole mostly are. Gotta' admit, Innovative people though. Oh and uh.. I fuckin' assure you that you've found the best way to handle getting ripped through space. Deep breaths." He lowered his head and raised his eyes at the last two words in a sarcastic half-nod, then raised it again. looking toward the direction of his shop. Looks like they landed pretty close for not being to the destination before.
He listened on about the lights.
"Thoughtful. Lets." He pointed onward with his hand and began pacing toward the direction.
"Yes well, the actual driving from place to place can get tedious. At the end of the day though its a decent place to be alone in your head. Its not often that you really get to set time aside and relax." Gage walks the short distance, opening a metal gate separating his work shop from the general city. Seven foot high concrete cinder blocks make the fence line so that he can have his privacy. "Its not much but its home." Gage is happy to be back, the three bay garage set in the back of a small parking lot. Above the story and a half tall bays is a small studio apartment, Gage's personal living space.
"So you said that you had some questions, so I will make you a deal. You ask me three questions and I will ask you three. After we start running out of ideas and we get a better idea if we are going to get along then we can decide if we want to get into any research together." Gage walks over and pulls up one of the garage doors, hitting a switch lighting up the inside of the shop. Scattered parts and half built bikes scatter the room. Against one wall is five fully assembled and polished bikes, obvious that they were worth more together than this building. "Sound like a plan? You can go first."
"Exactly what I find walks useful for. Mm...but, Human's don't have the capacity to perform a vast majority of the things we do. Flawed perfectionist's. Sometimes the irony in this world makes you wonder how it functions..". Satoshi truly did wonder, but it wasn't going to stop him.
'Three questions, hm? Odd concept of asking questions, though I suppose as long as the three questions are more direct and knowledgeable then the one's Gage decides to ask, then I should get more out of this situation.' His train of thought proceeded. He supposed it was just to make a little fun out of the questions, but it still seemed a fairly strange way to set it up. Especially since he wanted to see his transformation at the beginning. Now setting up questions? Hm.
"Tria'." The Vizard murmured, 'tria' being the greek word for 'three'. Satoshi slowed his pace whilst shutting his eyes briefly in order to concentrate. Three questions...that was all he had for his first set. After a few moments of silence from thought, he opened them again and turned his head toward Gage's direction. The man pushed silver threads of hair away from the front of his eye, and placed it behind his ear.
"Hm..an interesting proposal. I'm going to assume they don't have a reason for being set in three's.." He said with a chuckle.
He raised his right hand from his pocket, and aimed his index-finger upward to signal '1'. Since the Fullbringer seemed good with his hands, he wondered..
"First question.." He pointed to his Zanpakuto. This question had always puzzled him since he only saw Captain Mayuri with an edited blade.
"I'm not exactly sure how extensive your building skills are. But! Well, if they're anything like your combat prowess with only one arm, I'm assuming you can do things pretty well. What do you know about normal Zanpakuto blades?
Grabbing a pair of folding chairs he opens them up using his foot and his hand to hold it in place. "Sit, please." Gage walks over to the fridge in the corner and produces two drinks, both sodas and offers his guest one. "So I actually know a decent amount of a basic Zanpakto. They are in fact VERY similar to a Fullbringers Item. Its an item, forged somewhere god only god knows, where a soul is embedded in the item. Shinigami then bond with this soul and so comes your 'Shikai'. Personally I think you have just found a streamlined way to make fullbringers." Gage pops the top on his soda and finishes half of the drink in a few short pulls.
"Second question? Unless I was wrong of course." Gage knew a good deal about the Soul Society and its inner workings, having been there on several occasions and even helping two shinigami gain their Shikai. A Fullbringers ability to use Soul Communication is basicly the strongest form of 'sword meditation' that the shinigami are so fond of. With it he is able to literally 'speak' with the sword and even force the inner world open and enter. It comes with dangers though, the loss of all spiritual powers while in the world being a rather dangerous point.
"ERather small living quarter's for a Shop owner. The Vizard watches the fullbringer walk-about his room gathering different materials for the two men's discussion. Two rather mysterious chairs that seem to be able to fold into themselves, unique. And...human juice, the Vizard loves that shit. He watched as he opened both of them up and asked him to sit in either. Satoshi pulled both of his hands from his pants to his sides as he walked over to the chair, pushing up his glasses.
"Much obliged. Aghem, grab one of those juice's from you? Humans never cease to amaze me with what they choose to go above and beyond with." He spoke almost as if surprised that the Fullbinrger had a chair for him. Upon walking in front of the chair, he bent his knees and torso rather slowly to sit down. The man crossed his legs and his arms, but not before pushing his trench-coat and blade aside from the chair so it didn't collide when he tried to sit down.
A sigh escaped from the White haired Vizard. "Well that's a bit saddening. I knew that much myself already...Though I suppose your answer was well within the confines of my question. Mm..Well, moving on. Thankfully that just so happens to open up the consideration of a win win offer, friend. I'd like to call it my second question." A surprisingly sinister grin managed to crack half-way across his face.
"In exchange for allowing you to study the correlation of my Soul to my Zanpakuto's, do you think you could increase the cutting power of this blade? Safe to say I may not be the strongest individual in the world, but that doesn't mean I can't have the strongest blade." He laughed with a dull tone.
Gage was a little suprised by the request. This had just gone from a passive search for information to an actual request for work. He could not have hoped for better, the chance that he could use the work as leverage to look into the connection between the supposed hollow and Shinigami soul. "Deal, on the condition that I can run a few tests too. Its not really the connection between you and your zanpakto that I am interested in. Its you symbiotic relationship that you seem to have developed with your inner hollow. I want to know how it came to pass." Gage leaned back and had a thought strike him. How was he supposed to make a Zanpakto even sharper than they were? Already he was trying to keep up with them as far as resiliency and if he was able to make an item that was as sharp as a Zanpakto then he would consider it a massive success.
"So I can work with your blade but it is already the sharpest thing out here. I know I can't do anything about that but I think that there are some things that I can do with it. I don't really focus on machining equipment, that being mostly computerized. I specialize in creating spiritual abilities based on connections between two souls. If I hear correctly the abilities present in a Zanpakto are based on the soul of the item itself, designed around the soul of the wielder. I may be able to bring out latent talents that would analyze both of your souls simultaneously so that you are not wielding you blade and its abilities but are working in synchronization together to create a new effect. ...Possibly."
The man's smile faded slowly as he lowered his gaze to the floor. Uncrossing his legs, Satoshi leaned forward with his hands clasped together whilst resting against his knees.
"I don't think you quite understand what I mean when I say 'relationship'. You see, inner-hollow's and Zanpakuto's practically become identical entities comprised of two seperate mind-states. It's as if personalities are injected into-eachother. So in theory, there is nothing stopping you from being able to extract actual abilities from the spiritual essence of said-person's hollow. See where I'm going with this? You could form a perfect connection out of these possibilities....Alas..!"
His golden eyes reached Gage's once more.
"I've never been the greese-monkey type. My mind has come to attach itself to other hobbies.."
He spoke nervously, twittling his thumbs. He was thinking about the countless souls of innocents and hollow's alike he has come to slaughter mercilessly in his fits of rage.
"Well, if you can do that with my weapon..'possibly'. Then I can let you run tests..'possibly'."
The words left his mouth in purposeful allusion to the Fullbringer's earlier statement. Satoshi leaned back in his chair while crossing his arms. Looking around, his eyes started to wander into the different details of the small living space. Though it didn't seem he had need for a much bigger one.
"I suppose that brings me to my last question. When will you be showing me to these apparent 'loads' of files?"
Gage was surprised with the added information. He knew that the inner hollow was indeed potent and took a major role in the soul as what could be considered a second or third personality but he did not know that it was infact a mixed duplicate of the intertwined souls. "Hmmm, well we will have to see. The reason that I say that I could draw on the spirit of the blade is because I was not under the belief that there was any trace of the hollow retained in your actual Zanpakto. If there is actually any hollow energy in there then I could see it trying to manifest however, once again, I do not forge these connections. I simply place the conduit where they can thrive and then you have to build the actual connection yourself."
"Possibly does not sound like a very even trade. What I do is both expensive and taxing, a lot of time, effort and resources going into the project for every execution. I may need a bit more of a comforting response than 'possibly'," Gage had never heard a shinigami refer to their blade as a 'weapon', almost always referring to it by its given name or by the actual type of blade it was.
"As for all the information. I have everything thing on my computer. No one keeps paper records anymore," Gage stands up and picks up a laptop on a nearby desk, setting it down in front of the Vizard. "So everything that I have ever found has been recorded here along with anything that happened to be both on the internet and any information that may have come from research that I have performed up until now."
"I suppose that makes it my turn. While I let you read what ever you feel like may I have a blood sample?" Gage takes a white box out from under his counter and pulls out a vial and needle to draw the blood.
It hadn't occured to him until now, but he had obviously been sounding a bit too forward with his questions. Maybe it was best to lay back as much as he could, this man seemed like someone who was more easily decided about someone's motive through action and result. He was a more simple man, but not a fool. Simple men are not necessarily worse then complex figures. Complex figures are usually unpredictable, and destructive. It seemed this man had a strong knowledge of his purpose. A good sign.
"Interesting...so it seems there are things in this world we both need to have a have a better understanding of, and some things we didn't know at all. All the more reason this is a rather fortunate scenarion, no?" He nodded, though only slightly in agreement to his own words as he leaned forward and casually drank while staring at the floor for a few moments, then looking at his drink.
"Of course nothing is on paper these days. I just assumed you would've known I meant digital files." He shrugged.
"I was a Shinigami after all." He said with a purposeful sarcastic tone.
He felt as though somehow Gage was extremely anxious to get his hands on his DNA, and something about that made him uneasy. At the same time, he knew it was the only leverage he had at this point in order to get what he needed out of this as well. He didn't know much about this man, but something told him that if he had acquired even a blood sample, it could go a long way more then just a simple '..possibility'.
"Sure, on the account I get to briefcase these files, in a way." He began fumbling through his trench coat pockets to find the electronic device.
Satoshi breaks out a rather thin, but very wide external hard drive for memory storage he had acquired from a previous meeting with an Arrancar. '..Sa..Cy..Cyrene?' He couldn't quite remember. It was a rather brief meeting, but the store she was robbing items from managed to have a few things he would be able to use. Plus it was easy. The human's couldn't see him taking anything.
Satoshi stuck the USB end of the external hard-drive into the USB port, and began using his knowledge of the Squad 12 computers to navigate through the human Operating system.
"As long as this is every file you have of the events you know about, the blood is yours. I've been specifically been hearing about mentions of extreme fights and battles going on, and then covered up in almost an instant. It seems the Soul Society has been good at that recently, and I wouldn't mind knowing what they are up to."
Satoshi's fingers began picking up the pace on the laptop. He found the command line of the computer, apparently called CMD.
"I have no issue with that. You can have anything to do with that, but you have to stay out of this..." Gage leans over and taps a few keys, locking some personal files of his own with L.A.N.I. "Personal projects. Don't want this getting out until I am done with them. Aside from that you are looking at an open book." Gage would let him have almost anything save for the blueprints on several of his items and equipment. Included with that being the cross over project called 'SAGE', the one where he was trying to meld his Fullbringer soul with the spiritual world. It was slow work and more than that it was hard to find research material, the closest he could get being quiet literally sitting in front of him. Grabbing a needle and some vial Gage moves to take the blood, the vacuum in the vials pulling the blood out in an instant.
"See, painless and quick." Gage would take his samples and set them in his fridge, pleased with his progress. Who knew that this was even a possibility that he would have wandered across a Vizard with zero intentions. "Also, can I see your mask? I would like to take a small sample of the bone and put it under the microscope. From what I know it will regrow the damage but I would like to see it none the less if its all the same to you."
He watched keenly as he started displacing files that the man didn't want Satoshi to get a peak at any time soon. Usually those are the kind of files that people want to peak at in the first place, but he wasn't about to start making so many demands as if this was a trade center. He had regarded his hard-drive as an, "Open book". His intuition told him he had far more open books then just this, ones he wasn't showing him. The Vizard grabbed the laptop from him when he was finished moving the data around, and he immediately plugged his portable drive. Hitting a single key after a moment of silence as the Fullbringer got his vial and needle ready, the files began downloading at an alarmingly accelerated rate.
"What would we do without our hobbies, hm? " He spoke softly.
Too many people were trying to be funny to him. Every time he had come to meet someone, at some point they made an under-the-table joke to him as he had a cute sense of humor. But the blood was quite enough for now as he made the mask request as well. He was positive he could do enough with that blood to amaze even the Vizard himself. So he knew it had to be valuable, even if it was an assumed piece of knowledge.
Pulling his scarred arm back as he removed the needle, he spoke firmly.
"Not one bit, Doc. Not one bit.."
There was a moment of silence as he asked about the mask, and he thought quietly to himself and about what he wanted out of the deal. He raised his head as a thought came to him.
"As much as these are definitely questions, I feel like there is far many more outcomes of you getting this then I would like without further explanation. Not only that, but I feel as though a seperate Asauchi with said upgrades would be more benificial, along with upgrades to my own."
Gage was a little put off, being turned down by the Vizard for a mask sample was a little disappointing but he had seen what happens to his attitude when the mask is donned. Perhaps he simply did not care for wearing it, the mask being something that he is not proud of. The the Vizard said something that piqued his interests. "Hell if you can get me an asauchi I will build damn near anything that you could want. Blank ones of course but even so you manage to get me one to keep I will dedicate a month of my time to building you one piece of equipment." Gage heads over to the middle of his shop floor and taps the ground with his foot, a eight foot by six foot section folding open like double doors to a storm cellar. "Come on, I can get to work on your current Zan while I run some tests on the blood samples you gave." Assuming that Satoshi follows Gage into the hole in the ground he would notice that the setting changes immensely in an instant.
The walls are solid spiritual steel keeping any sensing abilities from penetrating out into the earth. Overhead florescent lights illuminate what appears to be a endlessly long hallways slowly descending into the ground. Approaching at a blinding speed and screeching to a quick halt in front of them a small platform with handles rolls up. "Shall we?"
