And the degeneracy went on and on.
Raiden's attention was taken from Arata by a... What the fuck was she even wearing? He took a deep breath and just shook his head. Just. Just ignore it. That'd be best. He turned back at to Arata and took a deep breath to collect his thoughts again. "Right, sorry," he murmured with an awkward chuckle. "Right. Rikujokoro, the difficulty for me in this was summoning the actual six beams," he explained, idly scratching the shut, scarred eye. He looked around with his proper eye, across the training field. No stick in sight to draw on the floor. Ah well.
He ducked down at a more dusty underground and pointed at it, drawing a simplistic stick figure with his armoured finger. "The thing about this kidou, fer' me, was gettin' the beams properly aligned." He drew an arrow and a circle. The circle representing the stick figure's head from top view. "There's six rods. For stability of the technique, they gotta be at an exact angle. So we're takin' a circle of three hundred 'n sixty degrees and divin' it by six." He glanced up at Arata. "I'm sure yanno this is sixty. So the beams gotta be as big and as wide," he added. "And their center need'a be exactly sixty degrees apart if ya draw a circle around." He frowned slowly. "Y'understand?" If he hadn't lost Arata by then, he'd stand up and roll his shoulder. "The incantation isn't the longest," he added. "So it's pretty time efficient," he stated, before taking a deep breath, slowly taking the fourth squad shinigami through the incantation.
Arata was able to maintain near perfect focus on Raiden. When Zephy arrived, he just opted to ignore her. She was pretty inconsequential. He moved too slowly, and was too gentle to be wound up by her "zany antics". Raiden seemed to get distracted for a moment, before turning to Arata, where he began to explain the kido. He went through it pretty thoroughly, even drawing a diagram, which Arata found kind of helpful. He smiled slightly as Raiden's insistence that it was sixty degrees. His gaze flicked momentarily over to Kaori as she executed her flash step, but it diverted his attention for only a split second. Arata might have been "slow" but he wasn't stupid; he just went about things in a contemplative, deliberate way, which just took a lot of time. Of course Raiden knew that, he was sure, but it was easy to think that such a slow, quiet guy didn't really understand anything that was going on. He raised one eyebrow sardonically as he smiled, as if wordlessly saying; "Really Raiden? Really?".
Still, the advice was sound. He took a deep breath, looking up at Raiden. He had to repeat the incantation a couple of times but once he had, Arata felt like he had it down pat. Maybe. The only way, he supposed, that he could find out, was to test it out for himself and attempt to cast the kido.
"Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a..." He paused. He'd forgotten the last bit of the incantation. Raiden helpfully provided him with a prompt and he nodded before trying again. "Carriage o' Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six. Bakudo number sixty-one. Rikujokoro!" he cast, and the kido went off without a hitch. Blodeuwen had shouted over some encouragement and as such, Arata was able to execute the kido first time without too many troubles. One of the training dummies had six rods of light slammed into it, which held it in place. Not that it would exactly attempt to move. However, his kido was ended earlier than expected, as Blodeuwen cast Hado 58. The release of energy blew his Kido aside. That woman was scary strong. Raiden might have been fine, but Arata was visibly shaken by the sudden burst of energy. He exhaled a long breath when the spiritual pressure had faded.
"Jeez." He said, before toying with what he wanted to say next in his head. "Thanks, Raiden." was all he said after a while, and he rubbed his eyes sleepily. How could he be so tired all the time and yet never get any sleep. Still, at least he wasn't so depressed any more. "I guess... I'll teach you a spell? I don't think I'm so good at Kido that aren't Kaido..." he paused. The implications of this statement were obvious, but it seemed as though he didn't really have it in him to finish the statement.

Finally some headway was obtained between Bloduwen and herself. Even though Misato might have eventually gotten better everyone was their own individual person. Their movements, vocabulary, vocal patterns, among other things were taken in however that was best suited for another time considering Misato's current state. Heck, everyone should be paying some attention towards one another rather than purely just on themselves. Whether Bloduwen planned today, or later, for them working together they would eventually. Though this really seemed more like a class. She glanced towards Kaori; waiting until she finished Tenran to start reciting Bakudo #37 Tsuriboshi.
Light blue fabric formed overhead. Like a sheet, this spiritual energy stretched outwards then fell down but Misato tossed it aside. Good for catching falling objects and people but she was more concerned with other potential uses, but for now she simply recast it this time three harpoons moving out from the four sided sheet. The three harpoons slammed into only dirt, one hitting tree bark causing said to fall down. At least nobody was near it. Aiming was definitely an issue. it to its fullest extent you need to improve both the execution speed, and stability of your kido. You need to get your spiritual "muscle memory" in the right frame of mind
Her words like an echo in Misato's mind while reciting Bakudo 37 Tsuriboshi yet again. Kidou was an art like swordsmanship. Hands clapped together with a mental image of a sword wrapped in a blanket. Sometimes she kept her swords in a blanket so she just needed to connect her dots, her art, with another's dots, Bloduwen's art. A string that kept her blanket wrapped up, unraveled yet with blades attached spreading out. A blanket formed underneath Misato's feet with harpoons firing out; two latching onto tree and a third coming in contact with a rock. Clinching fist she tightened a mental grasp on the slack then pulled them in causing said objects flying towards her due to pulling with too much force. The kidou wasn't suppose to work like that but she'd make do for now.
After Bloduwen got near her and explained Misato nodded. " Heart of the south, eye of the north, finger of the west, foot of the east, arrive with the wind and depart with the rain. Bakudo #58 Kakushitsuijaku (Summoning of the Tracking Sparrows)" Drawing out symbols given from Bloduwen's explanation targeting locations baring north south east and west were set in place. Long ago Misato was taught star reading. Sometimes she used it during her travels. Her target was Bloduwen. The high level Kidou was a first time for Misato and little happened. The orb between symbols spun showing partly Bloduwen's direction however various things were lost during Misato's initial drawing of symbols.
She began looking at them asking for pointers if given and fixing what was needed. By this point her drunken state ended due to focusing mentally and also due to spiritual energy flowing, flooding, such out of her body which grew warmer due to an increase in metabolism. Was this really so difficult? To Misato, yes. She still didn't fully feel comfortable using Kidou but creativeness made up for raw power. Misato made another comparison to swords. Humans, or Shinigami in this case, used technique with martial arts to stand against monsters, Hollow, who did not require such things because their natural abilities were high. " Heart of the south, eye of the north, finger of the west, foot of the east, arrive with the wind and depart with the rain. Bakudo #58 Kakushitsuijaku (Summoning of the Tracking Sparrows)"

Raiden raised his hands to produce a soft, clunking clapping as he produced the kidou pretty properly from the first time. He then glanced at Arata, who was shaken by the burst, unable to surpress a soft chuckle. "Feels weird the first time she casts kidou, huh?" He asked, fondly remembering the time when Blod was just the second in command. And when he was still learning kidou under her. Her first introduction to him was accompanied by a heart attack, after all. Quite the unique meeting.
Raiden chuckled slowy. "And I Don't think I'm any proper at healing spells, to be honest," he answered, rubbing the back of his neck with an awkward chuckle. The younger substitute shinigami seemed to at least have something in the way of being able to produce a kidou. Raiden and Kaidou, however, didn't seem to be the case. But well, regardless. He snorted softly, waving his hand. "If you don't think I'm too hopeless at it?" He questioned with a soft smile. "But, I don't know Byakurai just yet," he nodded softly. "Maybe you can teach me how that works?" He asked. Byakurai was one of those Kidou that were more or less staple. And he didn't know it. Hoping to change that away.
"Mhh." was all Arata responded to Raiden's comment about the Soshi's kido. It was strong, he gave her that at the very least. He wasn't sure he'd ever be that strong... He just wanted to help people. It was good that they could learn how to cast kido like that, though. It meant that they would be more efficient in combat, no-one would have to get hurt. Raiden seemed to nix the idea of learning healing kido, the only thing that Arata was good at. He guessed that was what he was there for, to provide that kind of support so no-one else had to. All the same, Raiden then recommended that Arata teach him a kido that he didn't even know, making him frown. It was a pretty low-level kido but he didn't even have the scroll or know the incantation. He sniffed, and rubbed his philtrum with the edge of his index finger.
"I don't know that kido." he admitted, with a sleepy yawn. If it was true that the others didn't really need to know Kaido, Arata himself didn't need to know Hado- he was a support for them, and if it came to a situation where he had to cast offensive spells on his own they would have already lost.

So I will take this burden on and become the holy one
Having four different Substitute Shinigami to train, Kaori would not be loathe to admit that Blodeuwen did remarkably well at balancing out their various power levels and skill areas. The blonde female took the time to watch each Substitute cast their kidou and within seconds of seeing them, she managed to judge both the kidou and its user accurately enough to give them new directives without letting the others become lost in the pages. It was the skill needed in both a teacher and a leader.
As the Grand Kidou Chief showed Kaori how to perform Tenran, Kaori watched closely, committing the motions and the energies to memory. Blodeuwen's Hadou was powerful yes, but it was more than that. Power wasn't the only defining factor in a battle. No, the Kidou had also been precise, accurate. Kidou was the female's chosen craft, and there were none better than Blodeuwen at her craft.
Even before Kaori cast her Kidou she knew it would not be nearly as perfected as Blodeuwen's had been, but when the Hadou was cast, Kaori could tell she hadn't gotten it right. The spin of her Zanpakutou had been nearly perfect, but the power she embued into her reiatsu as she cast had been too much too soon. Kaori watched as the tornado exploded outwards, halfway between the distance it should have been.
The female only blinked, her head cocked to the side as she pondered her mistake. "If I'm not mistaken, I pushed too much reiatsu into the attack too quickly: it built up too fast and didn't have enough time to disperse the excess energy." Whether Kaori got confirmation from the Kidou Chief or whether she corrected Kaori's assumption, the female would try the spell again.
"Dusty feathers, raven beaks, make my wings! Tear into an angel's cloud, and flow the northern winds into a phylactery!" When Kaori spoke any incantation, her voice never really raised. She did not shout the words she recited, instead speaking in a clear, confident, and precise tone. "Hadou number fifty eight, Tenran." This time, the Kidou hit its intended target.
Remember I am human and I'm bound to sing this song

"E
xcellent work Misato, I'd say that you've got that one down pat." Blodeuwen commended. Misato's motions betrayed the fact that she seemed to have sobered up at least a little. Her tracking kido was well executed however, and she had no doubt it would be able to follow her location wherever she went. She seemed to have her own ideas of the kido she wanted to learn; Blodeuwen would continue to give her hints as she practiced her spells. She didn't want to dictate the direction of a student who was happy to find their own way and needed little more than cursory guidance. Kaori's analysis of why her Kido hadn't worked the first time was accurate, and she nodded along.
"Yes," she said, walking up to Kaori and gently pulling her arm into the air, lightly guiding her zanpakuto back into an upright position. "As you turn it," she explained, slowly turning Kaori's zanpakuto, "you need to let the energy flow outwards linearly. Imagine a bead at the hilt of your sword and as you swing it, the inertial forces push the bead outwards towards the tip." she explained, before stepping back, giving her a moment to digest the information. She looked over at Arata and Raiden who seemed to be at a bit of a standstill.
"If you two are stuck, Arata, why don't you teach Raiden the Kido you demonstrated earlier!" she prompted, before turning back to Kaori and watching her perform Tenran. She'd taken the advice on board and the kido was executed perfectly well for someone of Kaori's level. She smiled, satisfied, nodding comfortably.
"Yep, that's exactly it. Well done. Why don't you go and oversee Arata and Raiden, and see if you can learn a thing or two from them, while I set Zephy up and see if Misato needs any more help." Blodeuwen asked Kaori. She walked over to Zephy who seemed to be shouting something about magic. Blodeuwen could tell that she annoyed Raiden and Arata somewhat, in the same way Misato did. Maybe best to keep her away from those two.
"Hello Zephy. I would appreciate if you showed up on time, in future." she said calmly, not betraying any particular annoyance. In all honesty if they had showed up all at the same time it would have been an organizational nightmare. "Zephy could you pick out a training dummy, and show me your highest numbered Hado, and your highest numbered Bakudo. Using the full incantations, of course, no Eishohaki."
