The end is the only thing certain
She'd been falling behind with her training lately, that much was duly noted. She'd obviously been slacking off too much, getting used to the feeling of peace when really she needed to be constantly sharpening her fangs. Needed to be ready to attack whenever necessary. Today though she'd not brought her weapon with her, well she did, she just wasn't brandishing it. The shinigami had left her zanpakuto laying nearby under a tree to her right as she stood squared up to a target dummy in front of her.
Her hands were held in front of her face, elbows tucked in close to her sides covering most of her side, whatever was covered by her arms and elbows was made hard to hit by the low stance she took up making herself smaller. Her left side was to the front with her right to the back, the one eye peering at the dummy over her knuckles. She stepped forward with her left foot, her left hand shooting out quickly as a jab connecting solidly with the face of the dummy. Shortly after her right hand followed as her left pulled back to it's original position ready to guard her again, though this time her upper body was twisted more so in a way that her left shoulder was drawn back. As soon as her right connected she snapped at the waist and her left hand came swinging around in a hook, connecting just as soon as her left heel made contact with the ground bringing out maximum force in her punch.
The air before her was slightly clouded as she landed blow after blow on the dummy causing it to exude dust that had gathered on it during its time in storage. She knew how to throw a punch. Her problem was she needed more physical strength and to add to her technique. While she did prefer her swordplay, should she ever get disarmed in a fight - God forbid- she would still need to be able to defend herself. And it was for that reason that she was here today, mainly to improve on her strength and technique.
The boy was looking down with an extremely sad look on his face, as he was passing by now currently in his training gi in order to improve on himself, the small zanpakuto on his back like a little dagger held by a weak young master of a house hold as he made his way carefully and slowly towards the training grounds. He had some scratches on his forehead and his arms were red from the beating he took the other day. He was still tired or to be more correct he was in pain having not fully recovered as well as not wishing to head to the squad four barracks again. He spent so much time in hospital it was starting to become his second home.
He looked on as his bare feet stepped softly and silently upon the ground as he heard the sound of a punch, the punches slowly but surely hitting away as he came closer it was a familiar face, it was her. Shiori, the fast girl with the weak kido. Also the girl who hit him really hard in the gut with a knee that one time or was it the other girl as the events of that day were vague to him. He moved closer and watched her as he washed his hair and face off a bit with a nearby water fountain.
Ones' only option is to strive for ones' own goals. If one cannot even do that, then one is lower than garbage. Worthless, for that one takes up space in this world while giving back none. That one would be better off dead.
The end is the only thing certain
She continued striking at the practice dummy, left, right, left, right. Head shots, body shots. Eventually her entire body was swaying as she moved, her head never staying still always moving in the opposite direction of whichever arm she chose to throw. Her breathing was beginning to get slightly laboured as she continued to work, her mind caught up in what she was doing. She gave the dummy one more hard strike from her right hand before she stopped and turned, sensing someone behind her. A familiar reiatsu, though it was different somehow.
She looked around the grounds only to find a small blonde haired boy by the water fountain in a training gi washing his face and hands. Her eye narrowed as she examined him, memories coming back to her upon her inspection of the new arrival.
"Aoi, is it?" It had been some time since their last meeting. She'd barely seen him around since then, even in passing which was odd considering they work within the same place. Though the Kido Corp wasn't exactly a small place and they were both bust with their individual duties. For starters most of her time was spent with the 2nd division of the Gotei.
"It's been awhile, how've you been?"
The more she stood around him and took it in, the clearer it became to her that his reiatsu had become more refined. She just hoped that he wasn't still the same naïve little kid from before. At least if he was, she'd need to control herself a tad more and not stoop down to the level of a child. She couldn't allow herself to be angered so easily again.
He noticed from the corner of his eye, as the left right movements of her fists did not lie. Was it really that girl that he met with Mori, was it really the kidoshu member Shiori. With a left and a right with a few head shots and blows to the body, he had memories of the pain to his gut from a knee. The battle that day ended in a strange way, as he was wondering if she was training or here to play.
She was either flailing with movements wasted or she was putting her full weight behind ever shot. Blow by blow as the small boy almost forgot why he had come there in the first place. It looks like she finally noticed him as he was washing his face and hands. She really focused on him as she said almost too casually.
She asked if he was Aoi as he wondered if he was really that unrecognisable. She then said it had been a while and asked him how he was doing as he looked down slightly, before looking her in the eyes with a look that seemed a bit sharper then when they last met. They also looked as if he was in pain as he spoke out a soft but audible reply.
"Hi Shiori, I am okay just came here to train" as he was a bit nervous as his reiatsu flared slightly. Though refined his reiatsu had some level of instability which had to do with his future power he had yet to fully awaken. A beast laid in wait deep within him as his body was not quite strong enough to handle its intensity which is why he had come to train to begin with. He was seriously there to get stronger.
Ones' only option is to strive for ones' own goals. If one cannot even do that, then one is lower than garbage. Worthless, for that one takes up space in this world while giving back none. That one would be better off dead.
The end is the only thing certain
His reiatsu flared a bit as he spoke and she caught a better glimpse of what he was hiding. To be honest she was truly surprised. He had honed his skills quite well. Exactly what one would call a wolf in sheep's clothing. "Ah, from the looks of things you've been doing plenty of that. You needn't worry I won't disturb you. Unless you'd like to join me."
She turned back towards the practice dummy to return to her training now that her muscles had got a bit of time to rest. She would simply await his answer before she decided to much else with him though. It was clear he had put a gap between them and it was one she was now determined to close no matter what. Again she took up her stance, one resembling that of a boxer with her right to the back and her left to the front. She was up on the ball of her right foot while her left remained flat. This time she started with a left uppercut, then she moved into the left jab, then into the left hook. As her hand moved back to her face she extended her right arm firing an outside hook at the practice dummy before twisting at the waist, and turning the rest of her body rocking her weight onto her back foot. Her left foot left the ground, the heel coming around and hitting the dummy square in the side of the head, uprooting it from the ground. She landed back into her stance before inhaling and exhaling slowly as she calmed herself. She moved to pick up the dummy to replace it into the hole that she had planted it into before.
He stood there as she spoke as a thought rose to his mind as she offered a chance for him to join her again. She did not even wait for his reply showing her focus on training as she turned back towards the training dummy, however the look in her eyes changed, a look he should know well but did not understand. The look of determination that he was also showing.
She held a boxing stance similar to one of the women in the street fighting ring deep in the rukongai underground. He watched the way her feet were set up and it looked like she was preparing for something. A left upper, a left jab followed by a left hook. It may look impressive but with that she could not put too much weight into her left punch but the triple hit would make it a bit faster, though easier to predict.
He watched her and then thought to himself. He motioned for her to back away for him to show her something. He took a deep breath then whirled around at a high speed with a roundhouse kick that knocked the dummy out the ground again. It was not a refined round house kick since his skills were average at best, but they both probably needed to work on their hand to hand combat.
"Well, we could have a friendly street fight if you want to"
As the small boy blushed and it may seem strange that one who loves playing with kido a lot was actually requesting to do something that involves no kido or zanpakuto.
Ones' only option is to strive for ones' own goals. If one cannot even do that, then one is lower than garbage. Worthless, for that one takes up space in this world while giving back none. That one would be better off dead.
The end is the only thing certain
She stepped back away from the dummy as Aoi motioned for her to do so, sure she'd see what the kid had. He went at the target with a round house to the head. It wasn't bad, but it was by no means exceptional, then again neither were her movements. She nodded and walked up to him as he spoke, requesting a friendly street fight. Did he just use friendly and street fight in the same sentence? Well clearly he had his own idea of what a street fight was, in her experience they were anything but friendly.
"Sure, we can spar if you'd like. However, do come at me seriously."
The last thing she needed was to be coddled, she was here to get stronger even if that meant getting the snot kicked out of her. Growth never came to those that stayed away from pain and danger. Those that chose not face the harsh reality of the world. No those were the ones that stayed weak and cowered in a corner, eventually dying while never truly accomplishing anything during their life time. She refused to be one of those people. She took up her stance, bending her knees slightly as her hands came up guarding her face, her knuckles basically stopping right under her eyes.
"Ready?"
She charged him then no stepping technique utilized, she just used her natural speed. As she got within striking range she fired the left jab, though it was nothing more than a feint not that Aoi would know that unless he was well trained in hand to hand combat or knew her moves well enough. Her real attack came from the right knee that was aimed at his ribs. Hopefully he would be too distracted be the jab going for his face to notice her follow up.
She said it was okay for them to spar and that he should not hold back which he had no intention of doing, his hand to hand had been lacking for too long and while he was a lot weaker before, he was at least around the level he remembered Shiori to be at, however he was not sure if she had improved since their last encounter. Not to mention he was still not sure he could beat Nessa if it came to a fist fight, but he knew deep down that his kido had reached a height unlike any other.
She was lowering her stance which might be good for holding her ground, but it was not the best stance when you wanted to have free movements as she asked him if he was ready as he nodded. She charged at him as he made a quick back step to allow him to take a stance as his left arm was raised to his eye height stretched out while his right arm was held low to the right of his waist. She finally came into range for a jab, which was usually an effective attack, he felt it seemed a bit strange she would aim a fast high attack at someone shorter then her, as he aimed to land a counter on her since she was taller the range gap meant her making this jab might be his only chance at an easy or free hit.
However just like the world on earth and the times in rukongai, nothing came for free. He noticed her leg movements as he was aiming for a body blow, for him a body blow would be more like a full on straight to the gut. He realised that maybe she was attempting a faint and forgot that she had to think about her opponent and not simply the attack being good. He saw an opening, but he knew it was out of reach as he cradled his arms in blocking the knee as he backed away. He could have tried to attack again, but it was too risky after that knee nearly got him. After being hit in the gut a few too many times, he was expecting it for some reason. Why did they always go for his gut as he took his stance again with a look of coldness as he showed less openings then earlier. His stance was not perfect, but it was clear that the real spar would begin now.

The end is the only thing certain
He'd blocked her knee with his forearm, seems he;d been in enough fights that he was used to noticing subtle movements. Though she wouldn't have guessed that with him being a kido specialist. Herself having been apart of the second division before was used to going head to head with physical blows, but as far as Shiori knew Aoi had always been about his kido spells. She guessed he really did grow if he decided to take an interest in other forms of combat. Hell even the look on his face was different now, he seemed ready to do his best to tear her apart.
Her lips curled into a smile, the tension in the air was thick and she was enjoying it. Her stance changed then, moving from the usual position of a boxer as her legs widened in distance beneath her. Again she bent her knees slightly with her left to the front with her left hand up in a guard while her right floated around her mid section.
"Seems you've been practicing."
Again she pushed off towards Aoi though instead of a full on frontal attack she stepped towards his left on the outside. Without losing her stance her her left hand moved to her left as she fired a backhand blow to the left side of Aoi's face. Her left foot was placed behind his and she shifted her body to turn to her left as attacked. Doing this would allow her to hopefully use her left foot to knock the other shinigami off balance with her stance as her momentum would push against his right foot. Not to mention the centrifugal force would be added to her back hand and put her in a better position to defend with her right should there be need.
She said it seemed like he was practicing which was obvious since he had pathetic hand to hand combat skills before, barely that of a beginner but he had been focusing on improving. She pushed forwards with a new stance and then she stepped towards his left as he raised his left arm as a guard and placed his right arm behind that as support for his block. Something he learnt was important was that you should normally block mainly with one arm and use the other as a suppose to that you stance was not too firmly routed in only defence. While a cross armed block was generally strong this was a variation on that in order to not simply just turning and breaking stance every time you have to defend which was sometimes the difference between victory and defeat.
As she seemed to apply more force as he got pushed back he did not keep his feet to firmly routed since completely blocking was not really ideal for him as he took the force and moved to his right side upon blocking her attack. She seemed to have used her foot as a pivot in order to add a full body rotation to her attack. He did not understand the terms, but he knew the concept of what she was doing. She was putting her body into her attacks and not just swinging her arm. He wanted to attack, but she had reach on him so charging in while having had to pull back a bit to avoid getting hurt meant it would have just taken too much effort to undo his movement and go back in. He looked to her focused.
"If you did that like a month ago that would have really hurt a lot" as he knew better now then he did back then how weak his hand to hand combat skills really were.
Ones' only option is to strive for ones' own goals. If one cannot even do that, then one is lower than garbage. Worthless, for that one takes up space in this world while giving back none. That one would be better off dead.

Again his defences were harder to penetrate than she had originally thought as he threw up his cross guard to prevent her fist from striking him in the face. Not only that, but he allowed the force of the blow to push him back, stopping her from knocking him off balance like she had planned, though she doubted that this was done on purpose. She didn't seem him being that skilled, he probably had some other reason for letting himself be pushed back. Though this was only an assumption on her part as she hadn't felt much in the way of resistance from his stance, judging from that she guessed that he didn't ground himself.
"If that was the case a month ago, you would be on your ass right now."
She only replied to humour him, her concern had nothing to do with anything that happened or could have happened over a month ago. She was merely concerned with now, "Though, you seem reluctant to strike back, what's wrong?"
To this she was truly curious, was he merely a defensive fighter? Even if that was the case he took no opportunity to strike back, this lead Shiori to believe he was looking for a chance to land a clean blow or his offensive capabilities just weren't as good as his defence. His actions were giving up his intentions and she would use this to her benefit. She ran at him raising her right leg as soon as she was in range going for the head kick. As she did so, her right arm moved away from her body ever so slightly, leaving what one could perceive as an opening though in all truth this was a trap set by Shiori to test if he theory was right. Now whether or not her prey would bite the bait was a different story.
She said he seemed reluctant to strike back, but that was not the case at all he needed an opening. He may be hard to hit, but his reach was a really annoying problem and her lowered stance meant he could not fully take advantage of that huge opening by her gut.
She ran towards him as she raised her right leg to kick at his head, he immediately dashed to the side for a sidestep to get her while she was stuck in the motion. Her one arm was out of position for someone planning to kick with all their force, or was she just inexperienced it was hard to tell since he was not a master at this. He twisted using his left leg as a pivot. He was to her left as he through a full force punch going from low to high in a cork screw motion aimed at the side of her left ribs. He had his left arm above his head as he attacked which was a sign that he may be attacking but he still kept a guard up in case she pulled her leg back or some other high technique since kicking from low with her left leg was not an option with her right leg in the air.
Would she be able to deal with this basic attack, as his plan was to get in a solid hit and back away or guard himself against any counter attacks. He had no real offense in melee and no real defence either so at best he could only keep a good balance between the two...

The end is the only thing certain
He evaded her high kick, though he went into the direction she hadn't expected. To her left. Still it didn't matter as her eye watched him carefully, she wasn't really able to pull back from the kick now so she had to be prepared. His attack came then, his timing was right, but positioning and target were too far apart. The smaller shinigami chose to strike at her ribs on the left side. Well he didn't fall for her trap but still as she'd been watching him close she did her best to come up with a defence. She couldn't get her foot down in time to turn and fully block the punch coming at her but thankfully her left arm had still been tucked.
She moved her arm back in a way so that it covered most of her side, or what it could anyways, taking the brunt of his blow with her arm. It was lucky for her that Aoi was short though, had her foot been any higher in the air that punch would have still knocked her off balance and onto the ground. Shiori did however note that he had thrown his left hand up in a guard, potentially blocking his view from over head.
She would take this opportunity to push up and off the ground with her left foot as her right hand reached to grab his leftt. Regardless should she be successful in her grab or not she would be leaping over his head with her feet pointed skywards, always a keeping on his movements. Though should she grab him by the arm she would attempt to immediately throw him over her shoulder and face first into the ground as soon as her feet hit the ground.
He watched as she avoided his attack to her ribs with a one armed block, while this was not the best method of defence it was better then a direct hit even if it sacrifices the arm. If he had more strength she could have been heavily bruised or even broken her arm trying a defence like that. He watched as her movements changed as the impact of hitting her arm did slow down his momentum a bit.
As he watched she vanished upwards as he felt her grab onto his arm he was getting sick and tired of everyone grabbing him as if they could spin him around like some toy and toss him wherever they want to. He did not need to put much thought into it, if she is jumping over him then she must have forgotten the one rule of fighting, never jump unless you sure your opponent can not counter. Had she left his arm alone he would have had a more delayed reaction but grabbing his arm left him with only one option.
Twisting his body in her direction not allowing her the chance to land as he did a anti-clockwise spinning front roundhouse kick to her face using her momentum to help lift him into position to kick her in the face. Under normal circumstances it would be nearly impossible for him to land a kick to her face, but he was now attacking her before she could have a chance to land.
He had learnt in the street fight as well, that jumping over the enemy usually lead to them cutting off your landing if not done carefully. It seems her attack was rushed, but maybe there were other reasons.
She might still be able to pull off a guard in this position and he was prepared to kick with his left leg as back up if she guarded against that and then he would grip her arm and put his weight into it so she would slam into the ground unless she let go of her grip. Though this was only if things could get to that point.

As she flipped over top of him she caught the slight movement indicating his turn, plus she could feel it from the motion of the arm she held. What was his plan, to punch her? No she would be to far, then his only option would be his foot. As the thought went through her mind she the foot out of the corner of her right eye. She left his arm go and quickly retracted her arm to forma guard in front of her face at the same twisting her torso to her left to make her body spin away from the kick. The block took the brunt of the kick but she cushioned the blow further by rolling away from it so that his foot more slid against her instead of a solid impact, only grazing her.
She dropped her left hand to the ground stopping her motion and immediately setting up her next move. She dropped, holding her weight on her left while she swung her lower body to the left making herself spin counter clockwise like he just was with her right foot aiming a kick to knock him the back of his left foot which was the only currently on the ground. Her right hand was still tucked in tight ready to be at the guard should he manage to counter.
She released his arm, which lowered a bit of his momentum. She raised up her guard as his foot clashed with her guard. She landed with her hand dropping to the ground as he landed softly before changing his stance.
As he landed she rotated and hit the back of his left foot with her right foot, the leg sweep was a really annoying technique. However he spent enough time in the dojo in the human world falling to basic leg sweeps to know its less effective if it only hits one leg as his right leg landed afterward as he then stepped back letting his left foot plant behind him and on the ground.
He looked at her tucked in hand, while something looked off he realised they were a bit too evenly matched though he did not know what to do. If he attacked she could land a counter, and if he keeps trying to counter he might get hit since he does not have the reach to match her with a counter unless he was faster then her.
He took quick back step creating more distance between them as he lowered his stance making her idea of punching him even less of an option. He then got ready to attack or counter big with his next movement. He was not skilled enough for a more careful counter, all he had was his next attack. If he failed he might end up struggling and if he succeeded he might gain a slight advantage. Neither of them managed solid hits but they both made near connected hits so it was hard to tell who was winning the spar at this point

The end is the only thing certain
That was the first string of unbroken combos they had since the spar started. She had to admit, Aoi was much better than she would have expected seeing as when she first met him he simply about mastering Kido. But then again, there was always the possibility that he had already accomplished that task. She raised herself from the ground as he put distance between them, once again taking up her own stance and using the opportunity to catch her breath. He lowered himself even more, making it even harder for her to hit him. While she had more range than he did, is frame was small making it hard to hit him where she wanted especially if he could dodge or block quickly enough.
Her muscles were warm from the high speed combat and her brow starting to get wet with sweat, neither of them had yet to land a clean blow which meant strategies needed to be changed. An all out frontal didn't work and he seems to be on guard enough that without a really good deception he doesn't fall for the feints. Perhaps this time around she would hold back and see what Aoi had planned. Since the start she was the one pressing, maybe it was time for her to observe and find an opening. Her knees bent and she planted herself firmly in the horse stance, waiting for the small shinigami to make his move.
He was a bit nervous with the situation, but he looked to her and realised they were both at an equal disadvantage without using their other techniques as he finally took a deep breathe as she stopped trying to attack him. She took a stance as if preparing to brace herself for everything, but both her fists were set up in a better position to counter attack or worse.
He looked to her left and to her right and to her widely spread legs as he realised he could not use a simple attack and with his short range a feint would not have any real chance for him. If she was going to give him room to attack then he was not going to waste it as he dashed back and then pressed against the back of his heals as he got really low down. Then he burst into a really low dash. While at the time it had not become a technique yet, this would be the beginning of his step into the realm of high speed hand to hand combat.
Dashing full speed straight towards her then doing a left side dash followed by a right before pulling his arms close to his body as both arms guarded his head upper body. His speed was as high as it would go and she could probably keep up but for her to dash now would put her behind in terms of initiation. He did not care as he would only stop for a fraction of a moment in time to plant his foot as he released a full on straight to her abs. She could dodge for all he cared with his momentum if she dodged he would fly passed her and make a sharp break.
If she blocked it she would feel the full impact of his hand to hand prowess and while not much he did not leave her many openings, but there was one opening if she had the skills to see it. One that could change the fate of this battle
Ones' only option is to strive for ones' own goals. If one cannot even do that, then one is lower than garbage. Worthless, for that one takes up space in this world while giving back none. That one would be better off dead.

She watched as he took off into a charge at her his speed building gradually until it seemed like he maxed out. Her eye and senses stayed sharp tracking him as best she could. He went from a straight charge into a simple zig zag pattern going to her right and then to her left side. His hands then went up to guard his face, this gave her some insight into what his next move be. To her, putting a guard in front of your face when attempting to use your legs made no sense, so she figured he'd go along the lines of either tackling her down or using his hands.
She didn't change her stance merely waited remaining steady on her feet. As he came closer to her she started to move, rocking her wait on to her back heel before his hand started to extend. Some would probably think she was retreating, which wouldn't be the best move in this case. Even if he had come a stop he still had momentum which would carry him towards if all she did was move back, plus not to mention give him a chance to pull off another attack. Though this wasn't her plan so she had no need to worry. She watched as his hand extended for the punch. Already on her heel she put a spin to it so she went to the outside of his punch where he was currently open.
Incapacitating Attack
She didn't want to give him a chance to escape by grounding herself to throw a punch so instead she used the momentum from her spin and sung darn hard at the back of his neck as he went pass her. If she managed to land this she was sure it would knock him, or at the very least leave him gasping for breath.
He was watching her as he closed in on his attack as he just saw her foot move and his fist hit the air as he looked in her direction. He raised his left arm guard even more as just barely blocking the attack, if he did not have his arms up for a guard he would not have made it but that hit with his momentum caused him to drop low as he landed on his side sliding along the ground before rolling sideways for a bit as he coughed as the dust settled.
"That hurt, Shiori" as he was a bit upset that she managed to swat him away like that as he was struggling to get to his feet his training outfit had dirt on it as he struggled to get up having also hit his knee into the ground when he fell. If she had been a bit stronger that would have been a serious blow even with his guard up, she used his own momentum against him. However he realised one thing from that attack. He saw an opening and he knew he probably might not get it, but he did not want to back away from what he decided to do as he backed away again preparing to attack again soon. Though he would see if she would welcome giving him a chance to go at it again.
