So they did have their own built in natural GPS, why didn't that surprise him. And apparently he had one himself, felt like rubber huh. Weird, he couldn't feel anything from Yaksha, but "...From that other hollow I saw earlier when I came here. I felt something, a heavy force. I couldn't breathe, barely stand on my own two feet." He suspected that's what Yaksha was talking about.
But he couldn't feel anything like that now, plus he doubt he'd be able to tell which was Lilliths anyways. Though it couldn't be hurt the shot could it. He kept his eyes on the hollow as he contemplated before eventually tipping his head to the side.
"Alright I'll do it, how do I know this wont kill me though? Or even know how to find Lillith in the first place?" He was wondering how far the hollow had thought this out, but oh well it was better than walking back in the dark where he was liable to get eaten and killed. Or as Yaksha explained to him, possibly turned into a hollow. "As for going home, I'll do that when the time is right." He said with a tone of finality in his voice. His mind was made up and that was that.
"That, Jean...is something else entirely. Reaitsu is energy, just like heat or sound. But when a creature becomes old enough, and packs enough reaitsu into a small enough area, then their very presence becomes...toxic, in a sense. The same way the moon creates tides in your oceans, the same way that suitably large bodies of mass attract smaller ones, when reaitsu is large enough, its mere presence can...tear you apart. The full attention of a being like Lillith or a powerful shinigami would be very much like getting crushed into a pulp by the earth's center of mass. Their reaitsu dwarves yours so thoroughly that simply by being near them, your body is starting to collapse in on itself."
Yaksha's hand twirled through the air lazily as he spoke, as if he were plucking the words and the thoughts out of nowhere...and truly he was. Tides and gravity and mass? Those things were words that fluttered around in his skull, words that he only barely understood the meaning of, but seemed fitting nonetheless. He was an ancient being, one that had far predated the true knowledge of the world, but it would take a particularly thick-headed sort not to glean some measure of truth from a few lifetimes of wandering amongst mankind.
He was, truthfully, as terrified of meeting Lillith as this child was of provoking her. Yaksha was achingly aware of how miniscule his presence and power was relative to the rest of the world, but he was not one to be discouraged by long odds. The very notion that he'd surrender and back down just because he was outclassed and outnumbered. While the full force of her personality could likely crush him into a pulp like a boot crushing an ant, Yaksha was far too clever to let that scenario happen. He would find some way to make this work...but first, he had to get this human on his side.
"Lillith will come looking, in due time. Should I run across her, I'll buy you time. Otherwise, it's entirely up to you, whether you wish to...return to her, to live a safe and careless life being under the thumb of a being greater than you, or if you'd prefer to be...your own man. Subject to the consequences of your own actions." He inhaled deeply, the flared nostrils on his mask quivering ever so slightly as he leaned close.
"I'm a big proponent of free will, Jean. After all, I did choose to tear out my own heart. Now the choice is yours. Will you play it safe, or double down...?"
Reiatsu. A form of energy, just like everything else. Did he himself contain this energy? From what Yaksha was saying it was entirely feasible, if he had the ability to sense the energy shouldn't he also give it off? But how was it that one turned it into such a heavy and oppressive force, or better yet, how was it that one withstood such a tremendous amount or pressure. The first of his questions were quickly answered by Yaksha, then soon followed the answer to the second. So he had to increase his own reiatsu, but how did one do that?
The human studied Yaksha for a moment his left brow quirked up as he watched he hollow. What was he plotting? He'd told Jean that all he was doing was making an investment, but what exactly was it that Jean had to offer this hollow? Obviously it was something worth incurring the wrath of an arrancar, and from what Yaksha had told him that didn't sound like a good thing.
"I've always been and always will be my own man." He crossed his arms across his chest, "But ok, I'll learn how to sense reiatsu. Though I'm also intrigued, how do I increase the amount of reiatsu I have?"
"Well, for us hollows it's easy! Have a nice big meal, get plenty of rest, and just stay active! Growth is sort of the name of the game when you're a hollow; your entire being is malleable, like a black hole that only grows larger as it's filled with more and more mass. As for humans...? I'm led to understand it's rather like growing muscle mass. You train tediously, day after day, for weeks on end. A nice long regiment of fighting for your life, a healthy dose of mental catastrophe, a bit of suicidal disappointment...just think of it like another sort of strength training."
The hollow shrugged again, staring at Jean with that same expression of queer delight and excitement, that incredible mixture of wonder and concern. Did this human really know so little about the spirit world? About how spirit beings worked? It was quite possible, but to think he'd managed to capture Lillith's attention while being little more than a spiritually aware human? It boggled the mind. He continued to trace shapes in the sand idly, his teeth gnashing as he thought about the best and easiest way to deal with this little human, to get him out of the picture. Obviously eating him was fastest, and would no doubt bring Lillith running...but eating humans was a tad dangerous. You couldn't just stop at one, after all. And this one hardly seemed worth the trouble of consuming.
"Reaitsu is...your soul, Jean. Your very soul. You strengthen it by strengthening yourself. By finding greater purpose, by overcoming adversity, by...actualizing. Every day that you come closer to the man you want to become, your soul grows a little stronger. Asking me how you would go about that is like asking me...how you would find meaning in life. It's only for you to decide."
"Be your own man for as long as you like, Jean. Remember only that, from this day forward, you have no one to blame but yourself for whatever may happen. And remember that should it ever get to be...a little too hard, being responsible for yourself. Yaksha Dokuja will always be right here, ready to give you a new lease on life."

Training...hmm well that would be simple enough. Though he wasn't sure if it was possible to push the human body to the limits of these ghostly beings which have become known to him. He supposed, there was only one way to find out. "Well then, are we going to do this or what?" He was curious as to the process which would awaken his ability to sense reiatsu. Considering how dangerous it sounded, he could only imagine it was pretty painful. But that was just a small price to pay, wasn't it?
The wind blew lightly around the two causing the sand to stir lightly and move across the desert. Yaksha was giving him a lecture. You'd think he was Jean's life teacher or sensei the way he gave advice to the boy. If Jean were a fool, he'd almost think that the odd creature was somewhat concerned about his wellbeing. He doubted that was the case though, he just couldn't quite figure out what his motive was.
"Don't worry about me regretting anything I do. I was taught to follow what I believe is right and not to allow anyone else to influence my decisions or the path I take." He smirked at Yaksha, "So you needn't worry about me coming to seek a new lease on life."
Yaksha's hands slid out slowly, waggling in the air in front of Jean, with the sense of a magician at work. He didn't speak for several long moments, simply gesticulated and seemed to be trying his very best to capture Jean's attention. Finally, with a surprising flash of motion, he snatched up one of Jean's limbs, clutching it in his. For a second or two, there was little more than a tingle...but the sensation quickly grew far worse, a jolt shooting down Jean's entire arm as Yaksha's reishi seemed to coat and cover his limb, chafing it raw and leaving the flesh underneath exposed. It felt very much like pouring napalm onto his own skin, a clinging lingering pain that would've likely left most normal men sobbing and begging for mercy. But it went on for only ten or so seconds, before Yaksha stepped away, inhaling deeply.
"My reaitsu is trying its very hardest to rip you to shreds right now, Jean. I no longer have any control over it. One might almost say that my mere touch is death, to a normal man. And if there's one thing mankind hasn't yet done away with, it's the need to adapt. Evolve or die, Jean. Your hand may still be salvaged, if you can find some way to eject my reaitsu. Close your eyes, and feel your body. Focus not on the limbs, not on the body, but on the -mind-. There exists countless things beyond your ability to see normally. You need only unlock the image. Close your eyes, count to ten. Let your body feel everything that is wrong with it, let your mind be assaulted by...all the countless bits of feedback from the rest of you. Your body is a conglomerate, Jean. Millions upon millions of tiny creatures, trying to work together. There's something far greater than biology at play. There's a...will that ties your cells together." He paused, realizing only a second too late that most of these words would likely roll off like water in Jean's currently agonized state. It was quite likely that he was even drifting in and out of consciousness. He leaned close, snapping his jaws closed by Jean's ear.
"If you want to see the forces that hold the universe together, just open your eyes. And then open them again."
Roselia strolled across the endless white sands of her home. Grass and flowers sprung around her with each step, leaving a trail of color in the otherwise colorless lands she called home. Others tried to blend in, to minimize their footprint. The less people that were aware of their presence, the less likely they were to end up as someone's meal. It was a matter of survival. Roselia wanted to be seen, she needed it. The more people that were aware of her presence, the more likely she was to obtain the things she wanted. It was a matter of survival.
Her ears picked up a conversation before her eyes could see the ones having it. It was fairly common for one to be noticed before seen. She listened to what was said as she approached them. It was assumed that they would sense her before seeing her. If not, they'd surely smell her before seeing her. Her aroma was so strong, it could be smelt for miles. There were even times it was visible. If not, well...
"If you want to see the forces that hold the universe together, just open your eyes. Sounds poetic." Roselia stood in front of the two, her voice calm and kind. "I understand it is a human thing to say." She focused on Jean as she said so.

Jean stood there waiting for a response from Yaksha after he had asked if they were going to proceed with the lesson at hand. It felt almost like an eternity before the hollow reached and took hold of Jean's left arm. He was slightly taken aback at first but he didn't pull away as he watched what the hollow was up to. Strangely enough Yaksha's touch didn't feel like scales as Jean had expected it to. Rather it felt like normal skin, though with a more obvious "toughness" to it.
This feeling was soon replaced by a light tingling feeling that began to cover the young human's right arm. It felt like his hair was standing on end and he was getting the goosebumps. Like a cold shiver almost washing over him. Soon that cold feeling began to feel warm before suddenly springing to life as a searing pain beneath Jean's skin. A loud and gut curdling scream wrenched from his being as the pain took hold of him.
"AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHH!!!!!!"
His voice echoed across the vast sands of Hueco Mundo as the pain only grew stronger until it was the only thing within his mind. He could hear Yaksha speaking to him, but his words weren't coherent to the boy. Only bits and pieces of what the hollow was saying made it through to him. He fell to him knees, holding his burning arm as he threw his head back and bawled in pain once more.
He couldn't let this get the better of him, no. He was stronger than this, but damn he hadn't expected it to hurt this much. The young human closed his eyes and breathed deeply as he attempted to calm himself, but the pain he was feeling had him on the brink of madness. He couldn't focus at all. He'd never in his life felt a pain this intense. He didn't even take notice of the new presence that had made itself known to the two who were originally there.
Jean held onto his right arm as tight as he could and gritted his teeth, closing his eyes shut tight. He delved deep into his mind where he tried to find something to hold onto, something to help him keep control of himself and stay within this instance. He felt something, warm, pulsating. He wasn't quite sure what it was, but the burning pain had begun to numb some so he reached for more of it, hoping it would help ease the burning of his arm.
Around him the sand began to swirl in a circle as the strange warm pulsating feeling swelled within him. Still his voice echoed, carrying screams across the desert. The pulsation grew stronger and stronger as the feeling got closer to the surface. Soon a purple light would begin to shine from Jean, which eventually became more of a smoky texture, swirling away at the top and disappearing.
He recognized the sensation, it was like when he teleported. Only it felt bigger and stronger. Perhaps, this could work. He focused on the centre of his being and the source of this feeling trying to get it to do his bidding. He wanted a shield, a barrier, some sort of way to push this invasive substance from out of his body. And so he tried to do just that as he "pushed" with the energy from the core of his being. It expanded out about a foot around Jean at a decent speed before coming to a stop. The purple energy took the form of a barrier which stood there for a short time before dissipating, revealing a panting Jean holding his arm, though his was no longer in pain.

Curious. Impressively curious. Jean's body was far more durable than Yaksha had expected, his mind able to remain together as the hollow's reaitsu infected his flesh, trying its best to devolve flesh into nothingness, to break him down into little more than meat and muscle, to force his spirit to eject from his body. But his soul clung tenaciously, only seeming to surge greater and greater...until a sizable force pushed the hollow backwards, forcing him onto his ass...or very nearly so, until Yaksha managed to catch himself on his tail, holding himself up for a split second as he settled his long, hooked-talon toes beneath himself, nestling them in the sand. His tongue flickered out again, sensing the nearby area, picking out the countless tiny scents...like that of flowers. How had he missed it sooner? How had he let himself get such distasteful tunnel vision, as he interacted with and spoke to the child? Could the fabled Lillith arrived already, here to take back her little pet project? If so, his schedule would have to be expedited. Dear god, how Yaksha hated having to move his schedule up like that.
He turned his gaze towards the newcomer, an air of practiced disinterest about him; the absolute apathy that radiated off of him could only have been the result of one who had spent years or even decades mastering the fine art of dismissing others. He glanced at her for just a moment, and then revealed his teeth slowly. "You missed the most important part. Then again, I'm hardly surprised you wouldn't recognize the turn of phrase. It's a rather recent one, and even I was hard-pressed to notice it in time." He paused for just a second, his yellowed eyes turning wistful, fingers coiling over his muzzle as he nearly salivated. Ye gods, the wreck he'd found himself in when he'd found out what a wretched fate had befallen such a beautiful mind! He sighed, glancing back at Jean, seemingly lost in his own mind for a moment.
"Too little, too late. The conversations we could've had...the lovely pictures we could've painted, just behind my skull. He would've been one of the chosen ones. I'd never do away with a brilliance like that. I couldn't imagine such a...travesty. To think he'd be thrust back into this world as a naked, ignorant babe? To go through the rat race again, and lose everything that elevated him? Oh, the Soul King is truly a cruel one."
He finally turned back to the newcomer, his teeth baring slowly in an odd, almost doggish grin, and his hand swooping across his sizable torso, as he managed a slow, lazy bow.
"You've caught me in a ruminative mood. I'm not especially peckish. I wonder if I couldn't persuade you to keep walking, and leave us to our business. It'd be a shame to turn this lesson into an acrimonious memory in Jean's memory. Those sorts of things tend to...tarnish one's impression of others."
Whatever the duo was doing was beyond her comprehension, rather she was unable to comprehend at a glance. A human in Hueco Mundo was strange enough, but to be aided by a hollow was strange still. It intrigued her to say the least, and the speech of the hollow did more so. She was not frightened by the showing of teeth. It appeared to be caught between wanting to submit to her and to assert its dominance. The hollow showed promise.
"If I may inquire, what is the lesson you aim to teach the human?"
If he wished her to leave, he didn't do well in making himself uninteresting. She could be hurried along with a simple answer, though it needed to be something she could understand with ease. Say he was cultivating the human to be a better meal in the future? This would be interesting, but boring enough that she could leave them to their business. As long as the human didn't interest her enough to bring her to spare him from such a fate. She glanced between them, observing the condition the human was in. Then it donned on her, how did he make it to their home?

There was a figure in the distance, uncertain whether seen by the hollow, Jean or the arrancar. Yet, the figure suddenly dissappeared.
Sand swept up between Jean and Yaksha immediatly as the figure dissappeared. A soft voice with a simple command. "Release him." A form stood between them, barely a speck of reiatsu radiating from her, what did make it past her surpression hinted at her true, and monstrous power. Lillith's purple eyes looked into the hollow's, her hands taking hold of the arm holding Jean, shredding his arm with her bare hands and pushing him back, throwing the useless, severed limb to the floor. She gazed over her shoulder at Jean as she stood before him protectivly. "Are you alright, Jean Llewe Arpeggio?" She asked, before turning to the two hollows. "I would like to kindly request your leave, hollow.. I do not trust you, nor do I trust the other arrancar." Her face was signed with a cold neutrality. "He belongs to me.. And I do not take kindly to people defiling what is mine.."
Her gaze turned from the hollow to the arrancar. She seemed at least more civilized, somewhat. The hollow was your typical know it all type of predator. The type of villain that would lay out his plans carefully to the oppossition and bask in their awe. But, the arrancar was something else. It seemed like she took an interest in Jean the way Lillith did back in the human world.
Yet she was stupid to having lost sight of him. And he was stupid for leaving her side.

He was still somewhat out of it, hardly paying attention to what anyone around him was saying as he attempted to catch his breath. He'd only just noticed the second presence that arrived. A woman. Was it Lillith? No, she had red hair, and smelt like roses. A friend of Yaksha perhaps? Who knew, right now he was a tad too tired to ask. All the Jean wanted to do was take a nap and regain some of his spent energy.
He felt like a rag doll as he sat there panting. Though slowly he began to understand his situation as he steadily gained a hold of his bearings. He could feel a strange feeling assaulting his senses. he wasn't quite sure what it was. The feeling felt odd, almost as if it were two separate things, though similar they were still very different. Was this what reiatsu was? Was this what Yaksha had promised him? Was this how he would find Lillith? It would be great if that was the case, except he couldn't tell what this new sense was trying to tell him, or whom was projecting what on to him.
Jean tried to stand to his feet, a task that proved more difficult than he had originally thought. He fell back to his knee and waited a bit longer, only to have Lillith suddenly appear in front of him, immediately taking violent actions towards Yaksha. Somehow he knew this would have happened had she arrived. Oh well no matter, he didn't trust the hollow either and would much rather go with Lillith now, especially in his current condition.
"I'm fine, just a little winded." He said in response to her question. His eyes now scanning the face of the other woman in that was amongst them. Who was she? As Jean stared the energy she radiated became a bit more pronounced over all the other mixed feelings he was receiving at the moment. Hmm, perhaps he could get the hang of this quickly with some practice.
Another one. This time there was no warning, no proper sense that anyone else had arrived...except the splurt of life's blood from the shattered remnants of one wrist. This one gave off a far greater impression of power, a remarkable sense of poise and presence...and radiated scorn in an almost palpable miasma. The could be no doubt; Yaksha's goal had arrived. He turned towards Lillith, his gaze very nearly appraising as his eyes roamed across her form, seeming to drink in every detail, seeming determined to let nothing slip from the annals of his memory. He didn't speak for several long moments, simply seemed to be doing his best to drink in the details of the woman before him. An odd look came over his face, one that almost might have made people think he was intoxicated...
When he finally spoke, his voice was low, languid, and almost mellifluous, seeming to flow out from his mouth as if they had been waiting to be said all along, and were in too big a hurry to wait for inefficiencies such as his mouth. He moved only slightly, towards Jean. "I'm hardly keeping him here! He stumbled across me in the process of trying to flee his gilded cage, and I felt it for the best to keep an eye on your beloved little pet until you awoke and returned. Certainly you can't deny he's in better condition than most of the other hollows would've left him. The burns will fade within a day or two, and if I'm any judge he certainly seems to have gotten what he wanted out of it." He was very nearly strutting as he circled around behind Jean, none of his movements showing a remarkable level of speed or urgency to them.
"If you would like to 'kindly' request my leave, then might I suggest you just leave? Jean stepped into my territory, and I very calmly assessed the circumstances. He's been safe in my care, and he's almost certainly got quite a bit of new material to discuss with you for now." He paused for only a moment, staring at the wounded and bleeding stump where his hand should've been, splurting onto the ground. Perhaps he was in shock, perhaps the ecstasy of this little farce was too great for him to care, but he watched with an almost detached calm as his own humors spilled onto the sands, forcing them to clump together in a sticky mess.
"I'd offer you a standing ovation as you parted, but you've made that somewhat infeasible. Next time, might I suggest assessing the situation before rushing in on instinct? I believe strongly in informed consent, and Jean knew exactly what he was getting into. He wanted to unlock his own reaitsu, to open his eyes more thoroughly. And he was willing to take the pain that came with it. Just as I am willing to take the pain that comes with having an opportunity to speak with his..." Yaksha paused for just a second, seeming lost for words. Whatever relationship these two -had-, it was likely nothing anywhere close to what Lillith thought they had.
"Guardian. You brought him here to watch him grow. You can't simply throw him into the water an expect him to swim. He needs...at least a little bit of guidance." Yaksha reached down slowly, grabbing his arm and staring at it pensively, before calmly unfolding it, allowing each clawed appendage to extend fully. He then began to wave it at Jean ever so slightly, before turning back to Roselia, and tossing it at her feet.
"Do you want it? It's of little use to me at this point, and I believe strongly in recycling."
Someone was coming. Roselia sensed them for a second, but then they were gone. She looked over her shoulder, finding nothing but endless sand behind her. "Hmm," she mused. She was sure she felt someone, and then that person appeared between the others. A woman, not unlike herself. She wondered how frequently hollow morphed into beautiful people. In her time wandering Hueco Mundo, she only found one other beautiful person, and that person was a man.
It left a bitter taste in her mouth to be cast off so quickly. The new woman demanded more attention than her in more ways than one. Her desires and her instincts clashed. Whoever this woman was, Roselia felt she was outclassed by far. The woman was skilled in concealing her latent power, but women's intuition warned her of the danger. A hard pill to swallow. The woman's display of power made it easier. It was best for her to keep quiet and listen.
The woman laid claim to the human. She seemed fond of it, caring for it as if it were her child. No, it was more accurate to say it was her pet. A project she had undertaken, and the hollow had interrupted. She looked down at the detached arm of the hollow in front of her, then back to the group.
"Maybe I should take my leave. Pardon me." Roselia stepped around the group, continuing on her trek through the desert. If they wanted to find her, it was as simple as following her trail of flowers.

"Good.. Stay behind me." She looked back at Yaksha, so much words. For a mindless creature that only sought to grow stronger, he seemed to talk a lot. It was, in all bitter honesty, disgustingly boring. Yet, she didn't let her attention diminish. She was still wary of the hollow. The hollow and the arrancar for that matter. While she could easily kill them both without any effort, she first off, didn't want to. She detested killing. And secondly, she feared for Jean's life. If she'd have to fight two foes, he'd be caught in the backdraft of the battle. Wich would be dangerous.
Her face changed from cold and hostile to annoyed and bored. "Territory?" She chuckled slowly. "You hold as much territory as me." She let out another, darker chuckle, stepping closer to Jean. "And I hold no territory.. This place is as much yours as it is mine.. Isn't it, masked one?" She smirked slowly as she followed the hollow's movements slowly. And when he left her sight, it was up to pure reiatsu detecting. Sensing his reiatsu. Sensing his every move. She'd immediatly know when he'd make a hostile move. One wouldn't be able to tell, but Lillith was more than ready. "Guidance I would've given in time.. Do not meddle into another's affairs."
Lillith looked to the arrancar as she walked off, plants slowly trailing her steps. One less potential hostile. A slow sigh escaped Lillith.

Jean's eyes watched as the other arrancar took her leave. Hmm He wasn't sure who she was or why she had come there. Or even where she came from, he had blacked out from the pain and when he came to she was there. Jean focused on her, trying out his new powers. He caught the faint whiff of powers. He could feel... something coming from her, but he couldn't quite place it. The scent though, he'd be sure to remember, it was sweet and distinct, something he'd never smelt before.
His gaze returned back to Yaksha and Lillith as she told him to stay behind her and started to talk to Yaksha. With a groan, Jean stood to his feet slowly, his breathing still somewhat laboured from his earlier exertion. He was really hoping Lillith didn't go all Kill Bill on him again and start slicing body parts off one at a time. She he didn't trust Yaksha that much, but he still hasn't given Jean a reason to want him dead.
Though when it came to Lillith, it didn't seem that one needed a particularly good reason to earn her wrath. As they say eh, Hell hath no scorn.
