A flash of fiery red energy pierced through the sky, following the spiritual scent of its target. The trail of energy pulsed as it perched atop one of the many warehouses scattered along the docks of Naruki City. Resting briefly upon the ledge crouched a feminine figure, long scarlet hair flowing along the shoreline's wind. Clad in a rather revealing, yet surprisingly effective skin-tight armor and little else, the woman's eyes scanned the area briefly as her senses stretched outward, like a hunter would its prey. Clawed fingers gripped the edge of the rooftop tightly for a brief moment before twin thin brows pinched inward. A sharp gaze over her left shoulder was all she could muster as the very monster she attempted to hunt appeared from behind, with an arm twice the size of her body raised in an attempt to smack her down.
"Tch..." A sharp breath escaped parted lips as the redhead twisted her waist and kicked off the roof with amazing speed. That long, flowing scarlet mane danced wildly around her before individual strands began intertwining together. With a aimed throw of her arm, several thickly clumped strands hurled themselves outward, growing immensely in length and rocketing toward the hollow. Six in total struck downward, with four piercing the gorilla-like Hollow's chest and two within each shoulder. Those pierced strands then hooked along their respective wounds and began to pull their mistress downward from the sky she had launched herself toward.
With her left heeled leg extended, she pulled herself straight downward, delivering a devastating kick to the creature's face, snapping its neck back at a near instant-killing angle and a sickening series of cracks and pops as the momentum alone forced her foot to cave into the Hollow's skull, cracking through its mask and nearly tearing off its head all together.
"One more down Meara," Ceira announced aloud, speaking as though some other entity was around, despite no physical nor spiritual presence in hearing distance. As the Hollow she encountered now began to fade completely from existence, the redhead turned toward a specific direction and arched her form with palms pressed against her back. Even the normal everyday workers of the port were not present, leaving a rather eerie sense of complete vacancy among the empty warehouses and docked boats. Nevertheless, the crimson haired woman nodded her head, as though she received a reply to her message and continued a brief conversation before the unavoidable interruption. "Still no signs of the source though... just strays left behind like the other warehouse."
'They know we're on to them...' A voice appeared from seemingly nowhere, reaching to only the ears of the woman herself. 'I haven't found much here either; trace residual spirit tracks, but they seem pretty old. I'm getting too much interference, so it'll take time to sort through all of these memories.'
"It feels like a jigsaw puzzle sometimes," Ceira confirmed her twin sister's thoughts upon their uniquely shared ability. As if on cue, the redhead then crouched to the pavement and pressed her palm against the cold stone. After only a few short moments of minimal concentration, the woman stood while shaking her head, as though her sister could actually see her reply. "Yea, it's a needle in a haystack here."
'What really urks me though... if they're not consuming the souls... what are they doing with them?'
That all too familiar eerie weight filled the redhead's stomach once more. Throughout their experience with what Ceira had now categorized as the 'supernatural,' these corrupted souls dubbed Hollows consumed the souls of the recently deceased like a zombie would hunger for brains. As such, it was common practice to find Hollows hunting souls for food; fairly simplistic and easy to follow...
Enter in this little curve ball...
