Suì-Fēng Had her arms tightly crossed and pressed to her chest as she swiftly moved through the divisions. Her Haori lightly fluttered, almost cape-like in response to the fast pace of her walk. The long braids of the Captain danced to match the coat's motion. Her face was as piercing as ever, never seeming to even acknowledge the Shinigami she passed by- even cutting off at times. Anyone who dared make a noise of protest got a quick shot from her Raven eyes that read "Don't even" loud and clear.
Today was her day to do general paroles. They didn't necessarily have to be discrete. In fact, among Captains it was encouraged to interact with the general populous as they made their rounds... But it probably shouldn't have been Suì-Fēng doing such a thing with her... Unique personality. She didn't even speak to her own subordinates, let alone anyone else's.
Suì-Fēng just wanted to get the shift done and over to move on to her next duty. Captains were very busy with a lot of responsibilities, and she really had no time for such mundane tasks as this. Nothing ever happened during these checks other than maybe finding some fool asleep on the job anyways. Nothing that would justify prioritizing a Captain's afternoon, that's for sure.
"Tch" Suì-Fēng grimaced as she paused in place to let out her sigh of irritation slide out from between her teeth. Her brow slightly quivered as her mind rambled on about how much time was being wasted at the moment. Her eyes tightly closed, attempting to quiet her inner rant. Her chest heaved slowly with a tensed breath escaping through her nostrils. Could such a day be any more frustrating?
The afternoon was gorgeous. The sun was high in the sky, obscured only by the briefest quantity of clouds as it beamed down rays of warmth that swept across Seireitei. The motherly Captain was doing her best to take full advantage of these conditions. While it certainly was not a day off, there were perks to being in charge of the Division full of caregivers had its advantages. Though charged with maintaining Seireitei’s structure, cleaning, and providing holistic care for every single individual of the Gotei 13, workloads were truly determined by current events. During times of war and battle, everyone was swamped with paperwork and responsibilities that kept individuals up for double and occasionally triple shifts. But, in times of peace it was certainly lax.
It was for this very reason that the woman found herself with a watering can in hand as she tended to a small garden filled with various flowering plants and medicinal herbs that she personally had collected over the years. Though it was certainly a public space that anyone could harvest from, there were quite a few unspoken rules that kept prying hands from stealing everything without formal permission from the Captain herself. Her reputation certainly had its effects on many individuals and for rightful reasons. There was just so much more to her than a polite smile and motherly disposition.
As she made her way back within the barricks to refill her watering can, the short-statured and always irritated Captain of the 2nd Division fell into her line of sights. And, of course, her attitude was certainly the same as always. Such a sight made her sigh softly. “Oh, Suì-Fēng-Taicho. My I ask as to what pleasure brings you to the 4th Division?” spoke the woman with that always kind smile of hers. “Judging by the look upon your face, I imagine it is not one of amusement but of work?” Tilting her had gently to the side, Unohana would simply hold the whale-shaped pale in front of her stomach, it far from touching her tightly styled braid that fell down the front of her body.
Unaware of where she even was as she bustled around Suì-Fēng was vaguely unaware of where she was, and felt a bit startled when addressed by the familiar voice. "hmm?" Suì-Fēng whispered as she came to a graceful stop, her braids lightly beating against her back ending their flight. Her eyes blinked over to the familiar figure. Her abrasive scowl dropped to a pretty neutral look... For Suì-Fēng at least. She had seen the tall beauty for all of her career, and indeed respected her.
Suì-Fēng Turned to face the cheerful and motherly Captain. " Hello, Unohana-san. Yes. Today is my patrol." Suì-Fēng's eyes traveled from the gleeful face of the fellow Captain to the whale-shaped watering can. It briefly reminded her of the Shikai the Captain before her possessed. She blinked before returning her gaze to the comforting face of Unohana.
Her sneering smile spread, in an as kind of a manner as Suì-Fēng knew how. "I know the point of the job is more to intermingle so I can stop for a while and help out if you wouldn't mind the company." Herbology wasn't exactly an interest to Suì-Fēng, but she could appreciate the purpose of the healing plants and knew they had often been used in the past for her own aid as well as her comrades in battle and the subordinates in her Division. They may not be exactly people she plans to involve herself with but they were her charges. Plus, people may like to see something more... Social on Suì-Fēng's reports for once.
Not to mention they were both members of the Shinigami Women's Association. In fact, Unohana was the Chairwoman. Maybe together they could figure something to do for the next field trip for the group, or some sort of activity. The Association was one of the few things that the Second Division Captain truly enjoyed.
The woman blinked softly and slightly nodded her head. She supposed it was expected of someone of her Division. Though she found it odd a person of her rank would be looking out for baddies within the midst of the tranquility, Unohana merely brushed those thoughts aside. She didn’t know the full story. Perhaps someone had grown ill and she had to take their steed or perhaps she had received an order from a higher ranking official? Whatever the case, there had to be a reason a commanding officer was thrust into the field per say. And she truly doubted it had anything to do with watching her water flowers.
When Suì-Fēng asked to join her, however, she could only nod her head. “If that is what you wish, of course you may. I will never object to company. Allow me to refill this and I shall show you my garden.” Giving a slight bow out of politeness, the woman excused herself as she opened one of the sliding doors that lead into her Division. Whether or not the shorter woman followed or not, she made her way down a hallway before turning to the right to enter a small kitchenette. It was here that she filled the pail full of cool liquid. While she was at it, she even grabbed a kettle, boiled some water, and carried it out with a few cups. Even the best patrols needed breaks occasionally.
After returning outside, she would guide her down a small path before heading to a nice little clearing. At its center was a large tree that was perfect for sitting under its shade during the hottest of days. It even held a small bench that allowed for such. But the key feature was the large collection off to the side. Placed against the side of a building, there was a vast assortment of various flowers and plants of different heights, sizes, and designs. A graceful hand would reach down to grab a few stalks and leaves from one of these which she would simply drop into the kettle. “It may not be your standard tea, but it should give you a little perk in your step,” she mentioned before handing over the pail. “I’ve watered the left half. Could you get the right for me?”
Suì-Fēng Nodded, as a slight bow as Unohana accepted her offer for assistance. The 4th Captain left into her Division to refill her waterer. The 2nd Captain walked over towards the various plants, almost nervous about disturbing the habitat. She almost had in irrational fear that a sniff here or a touch there could lead to her being unconscious or something. Suì-Fēng tightly folded her arms behind her back, looking about the flowers and leaves.
As Unohana returns her curious expression returns to a stiff neutral. Her eyes peered down the rows of greens. "Looks like a lot of work." Suì-Fēng said in a passive tone. She wasn't sure how much she could relate but the dead silence would be a great deal more awkward. Her hand slid up her neck, rubbing it slightly, showing a sign of her general discomfort. Suì-Fēng wasn't exactly a social butterfly. Her eyes drifted back up to the other woman, kind of looking for a sign of what she can do. Even as a human she was an assassin. Yard work wasn't really anything she had experience with.
Her face picked back up, looking more sure of herself. "Oh Unohana-taicho. I was thinking that maybe together we could plan a fun event for the Shinigami Woman's association." An actual smile crossed her face, lighting up her usual mood greatly. SHe looked quite excited as she looked upon the other Captain.
The motherly woman nodded her head gently at the other’s comment. “It is a lot of work, but I find it rewarding. Plants are one of those few things out there that can do so much. You can eat them, cure the ill, impair the healthy, or even use them to spark emotions. A large bouquet of flowers can certainly make a heart flutter or show remorse for a lost soul,” she said as the tea finished its little infusion. Grabbing the cups, she would pour them both a glass of the slightly green tinted liquid and even went as far as garnishing them with the same herb. Cupping it with both her hands, she would raise it to her mouth and blow across the steam before taking a small sip. The flavor made her lips shift into that pleasant expression she wore so frequently.
Suì-Fēng’s next statement was one that had Unohana arching a brow upwards in a curious manner. She never envisioned the always serious woman to actually want to do something fun. Or rather, she was unsure exactly what kind of activities she viewed as fun to begin with. Her mind instantly shifted towards fighting a hollow or starting a spar. At least she cracked a smile. That was a rarity in itself. “That would be lovely. Do you have any ideas for such? I personally know I would not mind a trip to the human world just to recline at the beach once more. That started out as such a wonderful trip! Hopefully no hollow will ruin our little trip this time around.”
Even if she was the head chairwoman, she knew of course she would need to have it be approved by both Yachiru and Nanao first. And truly, both women were a tad difficult to work with sometimes.
